Glenn Hauser logs December 6-7, 2020 |
|
Monday, December 07 2020
** CUBA [and non]. 13765, Dec 7 at 1455, RHC spurblob with F# tone signature vs something in AM, listed as R. Farda via Lampertheim, Germany. Out of 13700-AM transmitter, and a match about 13635 at only S2. The blobs are far weaker than their usual level; something`s always wrong at RHC. Also second-order trace at 13570, minus 2 x 65. All still there at 1550 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15230, Dec 7 at 1545, RHC is S9+20 and JBM, while // 15140 is S9+10 but louder, merely undermodulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA [non]. 17545.055V, Dec 7 at 1544 check, NO signal from Bayto Yaikl, via France? So mark off another DOW it is not airing, Mondays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH. 7580, Dec 7 at 0710, algo JBA here as I have just found WRMI absent from 7570. Nothing in HFCC --- but EiBi shows VOK in Japanese; for his list you don`t have to pay dues to appear (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAO TOME. 7325.034, Dec 7 at 0708, BBCWS in English but off-frequency. Of course, HFCC shows relay this hour via USAGM Pinheira, which is riddled with offfrequenciness --- e.g. 6080v for VOA. Previous BBC hour 06-07 is via Woofferton, likely much closer to .000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TIBET [non]. 12125, Dec 7 at 1547, algo poor S3-S7, scheduled as RFA in Tibetan this hour only via TINIAN, NMI, so could also be CNR1 jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2063 monitoring: confirmed Sunday December 6 at new time of 2300v on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160v: at first no signal at a Rochester SDR --- off or too close, skipping over? A51 webcast: rock music at 2300 so started late, noticed me in progress at 2314, ended at 2333:32 so must have begun about 2304:32 or a bit earlier considering internet delay. Meanwhile direct I am able to hear an S5-S7 signal and measure it on 6159.931V slightly wobbling. Meanwhile, 7490v is good at S9+10 with `UBMP` --- I would rather not be on at same time as Uncle Bill, but his first semihour normally repeats as filler 25 hours later, UT Tue 0000-0030. WOR 2063 also confirmed UT Mon Dec 7 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 7 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, VG S9+5/15 to UTwente with occasional storm crashes but per Blitzortung none closer than NW Italy, W Mediterranean, and a big storm front along the W coast of Greece. Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 7 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, again VG to UTwente SDR; 5800 S9+20/30 into TWR Bonaire SDR; also almost synch on WRN webcast. Missed checking UT Mon Dec 7 at 0430 on WRMI 9955; anyone hear it, and how was the jamming? Also confirmed Monday Dec 7 from 1900:50 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria, initially weak via UTwente, loudens by 1905 to S9+15/25, usual raspy audio with splat from 7280 Vietnam, but 7295 East Turkistan is still off for maintenance. Intact until 1929:45 as my last three words ``a standard disclaimer`` chopped off after ``with``, to be replaced by dead air before the IRRS ID. As usual, after open carrier, sign-on came at 1859:50, FSN headlines at 1900:25 approx., then WOR. Next: 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Jack Amelar, NY8D, Lowell MI, who says, ``Glenn, Thank you for many years of WOR and loggings which I have enjoyed and used. Enclosed find my contribution to help keep your service to the monitoring hobby going``; with a check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7570, Dec 7 at 0710, this WRMI is off, unusually instead of all-night Brother Scare, still to be heard on 7730 et al. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17790 & 7570, Dec 7 at 1501, special WRMI broadcast as first heard testing yesterday. Instead of 17-note IS, now 3 notes repeating every 48 seconds for 7 seconds, G-Bb-A above Middle C as confirmed on my keyboard, and in between 5-digit number groups in YL synthetic English, with Bosnian? accent. The letter G, and only G, is sometimes interspersed with 4 numbers, especially the first group after the notes. Ivo Ivanov earlier copied a few numbers, but not same ones I am hearing now. Jeff told us this would start at 1300 today, but Ivo says it did not until 1350; and Steve Howe in VT from 1351. 17790 here is again very strong S9+10/20, so I do suspect it is one of the transmitters hookable to a 315-degree antenna aimed right at us. Like WRMI-11 on 7570 which is only S9/+10 in daytime after all; i.e. 17790 being WRMI-12 which is on 5850 at night but mostly off the air daytimes 11-23 UT. If not 315, then 285, used by WRMI-13 on 7730 at night. I keep listening, but do not bother to copy the numbers which are not going to be useful except for insiders. At 1600 a Bosnian? ID; supposed to quit at 1700, but still going and a late canned ID again at 1705, 3-tones resume, and NOW switch to numbers in Russian! Bosnian is very similar, but this sounds like pure Russian, e.g. ``odin`` for ``one``, not ``jedan`` as in Bosnian. Until 1720 another Bosnian? ID and then the 17-note IS resumes as heard yesterday but not until now today. I am monitoring 17790 only which is stronger here, even on the portable ATS-909. That continues past 1750+ until final ID at 1800* and off. Here`s a clip I recorded during the test Dec 6 at 1859 on 17790; 17-note IS before and after ID in Bosnian, which cut off a few words of Spanish first; does anyone recognize the tune? http://www.w4uvh.net/WRMIgameIS.mp3 Meanwhile, this came to the WOR iog at 0423 UT Dec 7: ``For anyone interested in further information regarding this transmission, this broadcast seems to be set up to promote a new video game - I found a number of videos on YouTube today from Video Game related channels that were sent a promotional package by a video game company. It included a Tecsun PL-880 receiver and instructions to tune to the frequency 17790 kHz. It seems like they were going with a "Cold War" or "Numbers Station" theme. Examples if one wishes to skim through: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LZW85n8L1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TidiLRwQqjg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyM68qzUrk4 All the best, John (VORW Radio International)`` IIRC, there was another video-game special broadcast a few years ago, on WRMI? Can anyone find details about that? We still don`t know exactly who is behind this new one. Waiting for Jeff to explain. Then he replies at 2003 UT December 7: ``Glenn: Yes, the last set of numbers was in Russian. I can’t think what other similar broadcast you’re referring to. You’ll have to jog my memory. Anyway this one is not related. These broadcasts were made by the company that sells the Call of Duty video games. I don’t have all of the details, but it has something to do with the promotion of a new Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War game. Specifically spy numbers stations. Certain gamers throughout North America were provided with shortwave receivers and they had to monitor the numbers and get clues for the game. I guess the same principle as the old Cold War spies. There may be some YouTube videos online about this; I’m not sure. Jeff`` We are forced to go to disgraced FB to find any new programming publicity from WRMI --- nothing about this yet, but FYI only, some others, the religious ones removing the platitudes: ``WRMI Radio Miami International December 5 at 12:31 PM · Another new program on WRMI: Far Right Radio Show --- We are an anti-Communist and pro American conservative talk show, covering the topics the mainstream media will not cover. Heard on WRMI at 0800-0830 UTC Wednesday on 7730 kHz.`` ``WRMI Radio Miami International December 5 at 12:18 PM · Another new program on WRMI - All Tribes Radio --- Calling all tribes to unite in peace, All Tribes Radio presents an eclectic, sometimes quirky blend of world beat, trip hop, jazz, funk, and rock music along with spoken word offerings gleaned from both the Public Domain and the Creative Commons. In addition, our Spanish language program, Radio Todas Las Tribus from Nosara, Costa Rica features insights and information about this unique international community, and Costa Rica in general, along with music from Latin America. All Tribes Radio can be heard on WRMI at 6:00 pm Eastern Time Sunday (that's 2300 UTC in winter, 2200 UTC in summer) on 9395 kHz, as well as at 0500 UTC Sunday on 5985 kHz.`` {so what about Spanish version?} ``WRMI Radio Miami International November 25 at 3:02 PM · New Program on WRMI --- THE GOVERNMENT IS ON HIS SHOULDERS My name is Bruce Killingbeck from the Church of Antioch in Reed City, Michigan. Come join us Saturday at 9 PM EST on 9395 kHz to hear from the Bible the turning point for all mankind, Jesus, Yehoshua the Messiah.`` ``WRMI Radio Miami International November 19 at 11:01 AM · New Program on WRMI: 'BRING TRUTH TO LIFE' IS A CHRISTIAN BASED, TOPICAL, FUN PROGRAM, WHICH STRIVES TO MAKE EACH BROADCAST INFORMATIVE, EDUCATIONAL AND ENTERTAINING. "Bring Truth to Life" can be heard on WRMI on Sundays at 2300-2330 UTC on 7780 kHz`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17775-, Dec 7 at 1543, no signal from KVOH, fulfilling Ray`s prophecy that would be off for maintenance today even if power were back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1370, re my unID log possibly KGNO Dodge City KS: Wayne Heinen, Aurora CO, Editor, NRC AM Radio Log, replies that he heard: ``1370 KGNO KS Dodge City 11/29 0001 UT, "Classic Country KGNO" and also at 11/29 at 1301 UT, "Classic Country KGNO" and into Fox News. Haven’t heard these guys in quite a while``, as reported to next DDXD-W (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 2034 UT December 7 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** ARMENIA. Re my report of KBC: ``6080 kHz, direct from Yerevan`` --- not Gavar?? VG reception via UTwente, not here``
Christian Milling replies on the soon to be deleted DXLD yg: ``Neither Yerevan nor Gavar. The village where the transmitters are located and the postal address of the station is Noratus, Gegharkunik Province, Radio Quarter 5`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** AUSTRIA [and non]. 6185, UT Sun Dec 6 at *0500, Moosbrunn on just in time for NHK English relay at weekend timing, ex-6155; makes fast SAH overriding XEPPM, which I was hearing weakly in Spanish before 0500; via Rochester NY SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 6075, Dec 6 at 1553, S9 strongest signal on band by far, the only listenable one some 2.4 hours after sunrise here, Chinese talk and plucked music to timesignal and off 1600*; meanwhile same music on 7300 if not synchronized. Aoki/NDXC for 6075 shows CNR1 jamming vs Taiwan but until 1730*; also PBS Qinghai with CNR1 too until 1600*. Furthermore, CRI in Urdu via Kashgar until 1557. None of these seem apt for pushing such a bigsig thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA [non]. 17545+, Dec 6 at 1542, confirmed no Bayto Yaikl on Sunday, just Wed & Sat so far. Traces of 17615+ Sa`udi, 21690 France (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PHILIPPINES. 9275, Dec 6 at 1550, Chinese music S7-S9 with flutter, FEBC Bocaue at 10-16. WMLK has also reserved 9275 at 17-22, 53 degrees toward Europe, if those Yahwists ever get their new 300 kW transmitter and antenna in Bethel PA on the air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, Dec 6 at 1453, 1.8 milliwatt HIFER beacon K6FRC is JBA with ID only repeating, from Patterson CA - tuned across almost every morning, last logged October 11. Standard inquiry: is it always on the air or not? Fortunately, no spurblobblox from RHC today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2063 monitoring: not confirmed UT Sun Dec 6 between 0447 and 0600 several chex of WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, but ARNL and other ham shows, such as at 0505 `ARNL` about the Arecibo collapse. Hope WOR had aired earlier before I tuned in. Heavy CW QRM thruout, must be a 160mb contest. Next: We hope WBCQ will be back on by 2300 Sunday, apparently missing Saturday due to nor`easter. 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 61 to WSW [new, ex 0400 Mon!] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Jack Amelar, NY8D, Lowell MI, who says, ``Glenn, Thank you for many years of WOR and loggings which I have enjoyed and used. A nor`easter hit the WBCQ area on Saturday December 5, and it seems it has been knocked off the air, altho not certain, perhaps deficient propagation. 6160v, Dec 6 at 0503 check, no signal into Rochester nor here, but may have just normally signed off. Sked: http://zappahead.net/#2020-1205-area51 7490, I was also checking whether a conflict with WHRI, but only the latter heard on 7490.0, Dec 6 at 0455 with gospel huxter into Warrenton MO SDR I`m mainly monitoring for WA0RCR; 0503 S7-S9 gospel song. 9330, Dec 6 at 1624, no signal from WBCQ with WLC. Ivo Ivanov earlier noted it absent at 1000 when scheduled in French (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17790, Dec 6 at 1808, very strong S9+10/20 unfamiliar electronic interval signal, recorded. Rick Barton, AZ first reported this at 1720, then WRMI ID at 1800. Also heard by Harold Frodge, MI; Wolfgang Bueschel using Bonaire SDR, at 1751: ``twin tone 17790 and 17795 kHz signal strings``. At 1812, Peter W Hansen: ``17790 comes best at Bay Area California and 17795 in New York and Iceland.`` I ask Jeff White about it! ``Hi Jeff, Questions I hope you can answer: 17790 -- what is the origin and significance of that unfamiliar [17-note] interval signal? Is this really from Okeechobee? Which transmitter and antenna? Excellent signal here. Is this leading to a new relay client? Any other new frequencies planned? And you were running 17795 at same time? Others heard that. From another site? At 1900 ID sounded like a mixture of Spanish, and Russian?`` ``Glenn: It's a test for a one-time special transmission tomorrow [Mon Dec 7] from 1300 to 1700. I can't really say who it's for until tomorrow. Two frequencies: 17790 and 7570. The language was Bosnian. Yeah, it's OK to share it.
