Glenn Hauser logs January 25-26-27, 2021  View Printable Version
Wednesday, January 27 2021

Logs
** BRAZIL. 11905-11910-11915-DRM, Jan 27 at 0110, Nacional FM with
mostly music, via TWR Bonaire KiwiSDR, SNR fluxuating 9-10 dB, which
is not quite enough to avoid dropouts and skips at 12.46 kbps;
0130-0135 break for interview about music to follow, now worsening
circa 9, 0140 classical flute/violin/guitar; $ tereo would be nice, but
too taxing on DRM bandwith, can`t even maintain solid modul in mono.
But the one-line Journaline news headlines rotating come thru
unscathed at 2.30 kbps. I was trying to show a few, but altho hilited
they will not copy (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 6900, Jan 25 at 2353, JBA carrier with flutter, presumed
CNR1 jammer against a listed Sound of Hope frequency; with 2-way
Spanish QRM on LSB only, a major frequency for that (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHINA. 6850, Jan 26 at 2357, JBA S5-S6 talk sounds Chinese,
presumed CNR1 jammer against another listed SOH frequency; however
there are two signals, at least one of which is slightly on the minus
side. Cuts off a few seconds before 2400* like CNR1 but before the
timesignal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA [and non]. 600 kHz, Jan 27 at 2359, via TWR Bonaire SDR,
checking for the VOA relay via Radio Libertad, HJHJ, Barranquilla,
about which little has been seen since first report last September 19,
of this way to get into hostile Venezuela without using any SW.

Nothing about this in WRTH 2021 under Colombia, pp 163/165, but VOA
Spanish under USA, page 507 shows -- only -- 600-hjh site at 00-02
Sat/Sun, 00-03 M-F. QRM from piano riffs likely Rebelde/Cuba, but
dominant is Spanish news, mentions ``Buenos Dias``, so maybe still
replaying podcast of morning edition.

No ID for HJHJ at ToH, but 0101 switch to different W&M casters with
news about USA and COVID; ID in passing as ``La Voz de América``. A
Venezuelan MW transmitter was supposedly pressed into service to jam
this, also about which nothing further has been reported, but if
VOA/HJHJ get into Bonaire, probably also into Caracas (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. 5870-5875-5880, Jan 26 circa 2350, DRM noise still here,
i.e. the tests of TDF with RFI programming. Then just in on the WOR
iog, a reply that Jean-Michel Aubier got from TDF to an inquiry
forwarded from Wolfgang Büschel; in translation:

``Hello, Since January 1, we have been carrying out new DRM tests
from our Issoudun distribution center. These tests are initiated by
TDF as part of our DRMCast project.

DRMCast is a SW receiver that we have developed on our own funds which
makes it possible to locally rebroadcast DRM content over wifi.
Through this gateway-type interface, any smartphone or tablet-type
receiver is thus capable of receiving sound, text and images broadcast
in DRM.

The first tests were carried out on the Minitransat in 2019 with
a race report for boats crossing the Atlantic. We are not far enough
advanced to date to address Vendée Globle type races, but the Maritime
world is a track that we are considering for DRMCast.

For the time being, we have four 30-minute broadcasting slots with RFI
world programs and some associated data:

13:00-13:30 11735
15:00-15:30 9905
17:30-18:00 9905
23:30-00:00 5875

These slots are likely to change in the days / weeks to come. These
are tests to continue our development, we are not communicating at the
moment`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 11720, Jan 26 at 2112, VOA-One with Afro?rock, split-second
dropout of modulation, or is it also a break in carrier? S-meter also
seems to dip. I have noticed such often before on this Grimesland
transmitter. Switch to off-tuned SSB but no breaks detected in next
couple minutes. Needs further checking; watching waterfall should make
it more obvious; on air 21-22 UT only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. VOA Spanish MW relay: see COLOMBIA

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2070 monitoring; next:
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, Jan 26 at 2120, this reactivated WRMI is still on and
now not // 9395. Still no sign of 9455 on the skedgrid at 0200 Jan 27
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9265, Tue Jan 26 at 2121, no signal from WINB, but gospel
huxter going by 2208 recheck on the always-wobbly carrier. Usually
starts earlier, but depends on airtime sales. New websked dated Jan 24
now shows starting at *2000 M-F, and on Tuesday:
``04:00P / Tue-2100...Bishop S. C. Johnson
06:30P / Tue-2330...The Essentials of Life and Wellness``
End-times of shows (nor of the World) are never specified, but assumed
to run until the next one start; however that would make the Bishop
show 2.5 hours long; so takes a break? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs January +26, 2021  View Printable Version

Logs
** ANGUILLA. 18125-USB, Jan 26 at 1557, a VP2 making quick contacts
with US & Canadians, causing pileups, e.g., i.a. WB0X trying to get in
repeatedly. Says he`s making a list of callsigns and will get to them
eventually, so take it easy; his own call is uttered fonetikally but
so quickly and weakly that I can`t be sure of it: VP2EH? A bit of
whistling jamming. Finally at 1606 I hear him say he`s Ira on Anguilla
where it`s raining. Searching finds VP2EH is someone else there, but a
DX cluster now finds Ira as VP2EIH; the I got lost:

VP2EIH Anguilla flag Anguilla
IRA HARRIS
PO BOX 1206
THE VALLEY
Anguilla
https://www.qrz.com/lookup/vp2eih

He has some religious remarks there which make one wonder if he`s
involved with SW inactive The Caribbean Beacon, also in The Valley
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 15190.046, at 2250, JBA in presumed Portuguese, R.
Inconfidência, Belo Horizonte, signature off-frequency reported by
others but seldom detected here. Also a het from something further
askew, approx. 15190.735, possibly a local birdie. An overlooked log
note, not sure from Jan 24 or 25 (Glenn Hauser, OK, Jan 26, WOR)

** CUBA. 13833, 13766, 13635, 13569 approx., Jan 26 at 1459, spurblobs
with F# tone from 13700-AM, 65-67 kHz intervals. Wolfgang Bueschel
reported on nominal RHC frequencies a few minutes earlier at 1430 as
heard by remotes, but nothing about these. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, Jan 26 at 1551, surprise, Brother HyStairical is back
here, no doubt WRMI reactivated --- but it`s not the #8 transmitter
which a few weeks ago moved everything 24h to 5950, because 5950 is
also still on weaker with BS. Per skedgrid at this hour, only two
transmitters are unaccounted for, #2 which was limited to 5985 at
night, 222 degrees; and #4 as ``11710``, 160 degrees, without any
hours and which has never been heard anywhen. 9455 is never shown.
Rather, 5 of them are scheduled Sabbathdays only for TOMBS. It would
be remarkable -- and a big load on the grid? if all 14 or even 13 were
ever on air at once.

Quick check before 1600 finds TOMBS also on WRMI 9395, 9955; WWCR 9980
and surely others. There can never be enough of The Overkiller! 1750,
9955 is off as scheduled, 9455 still on // 9395 both with robotic
preaching. 9455 weaker as it was before compared to 9395 when both
were allegedly 355 degrees, wasteful when duplicated.

WRMI on 9455, if again 24h, conflicts with USAGM from Kuwait, Saipan,
of course provoking, ChiCom jamming, even Firedragon; China,
Bangladesh (ha ha), JIC MIC Japan, Saudi Arabia (mostly wooden?); none
of this a problem at HFCC? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15879.7-USB, Jan 26 at 1503, JBA 2-way in Spanish;
cambio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** CUBA. 11820, Jan 26 at 0303, CRI news in English, S9+20! This is of
course harmonic, 2 x 5910 where same is S9+40/50. Have not noticed
this one before: harmonic suppression/filtering must be turned off;
deliberately? Could it be just receiver overload? No, not on the R75;
and recheck at 0420 in Yue/Cantonense, via the KB0FX SDR, also
barreling into MO, S9+15/20 vs 5910 at S9+25/35. Something`s always
wrong at RadioCuba.

If one multiple is radiating, so may be others. Next up is 17730 = 3 x
5910, and by golly, KB0FX is detecting a JBA carrier there. Of course
no such propagation expected at night, no matter how much power goes
into it. But there`s a chance of HF sporadic E boost before we get too
far past the midwinter subpeak; also: 4 x 5910 = 23640, and 5 x 5910 =
29550. Would not hurt also to check those between 03 and 05. 5910 is
supposedly 250 kW at 305 degrees across the USA, accounting for its
extreme strength thisaway.

Meanwhile direct, back at 0305, checking other 25m Cubans. RHC Spanish
on 11850 is S9+10/20 but quite suptorted and still lacking any
plus/minus 10 kHz spurs. 11760 is S9+20/30 of dead air; 11670 is
S9+10/20 with good modulation. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Monday January 25 at 2300-2330, REE in English, VG and
no need to check for the //s. All about recent US history with some
soundbites: Alison Hughes narrating a report on the insurrexion upon
the Capitol by trecherous traitorous treasonous Trump terrorists - as
I call them; including her rather startling cynical remark,
paraphrased but close: `Due to travel restrixions, the US had to stage
a domestic coup`.

Then over to Justin Coe for a report about the Inauguration; managed
to find a Spanish angle, as the Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman,
had spent several months studying in Spain, especially about García
Lorca. Closed with some music right up to BoH TS (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 5800, Jan 26 at 0341 quick check of WRMI whether `Freedom
Synergy Radio` remains: yes, and someone from Epoch Times is
conducting an anti-China interview. So it`s quite clear that the Falun
Gong cult is heavily involved, if not running FSR; i.e. the same who
bring us Sound of Hope and Chicom jamming. Even so, the FG do not
deserve to be persecuted, organs harvested and genocided inside China
as alleged. Beware of Epoch Times` disgraced Trumpist ads cropping up
on the web. They should stick to anti-ChiCom stuff with which we might
agree rather than messing in US politix, such as:
https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-afs:Content:9900544617
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1550, Jan 26 at 0316 UT, ESPN Radio promos dominant for
a while; whence? NRC AM Log shows surprisingly few affiliates among
the 54 US stations on 1550, most of them with peanut power at night;
in deference to CBEF? In fact, barring any affiliate changes since it
was printed, the only two possibilities are KICS Hastings, Nebraska,
27 watts; and KYAL, Sapulpa OK, 40 watts; and my E-W antenna is
pointed toward the latter but is hardly deaf to the north. KYAL
pattern favors the ESE while KICS is ND (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
