** AUSTRIA [non]. (91.9), Jan 1 at 16-18 UT, just enjoyed the New Year Concert from Vienna, via WUOT $ tereo webcast, penul-concluding as ever with the Blue Danube Waltz --- why do I keep thinking of Cashmere Bouquet? The American hostess voice-overing English comments, Lisa Mullins in Boston, needs to work on her German pronunciation, e.g. ``Musikverein``. A rather different version is scheduled on PBS TV tonight, 0300 UT Saturday on OETA, visual elements added such as ballet dancers, scenic views of nature and grand architecture (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 276-MCW kHz, Jan 1 at 0733 UT, dash and YEL, 200-watt ND beacon from Elliot Lake, Ontario; tuned to 275-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 7435, Jan 1 at 0528, heavy jamming against no R. Martí; also on 7355, 7335, each with a different sound. The temporary extension of RM to 0400-0600* was to expire after 5 December per HFCC; unsure if that soon but definitely gone now; why? That supposedly applied to 7435, 7355, 6030 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, Jan 1 at 0525, RHC in Spanish instead of English with NYE special also commemorating the 62nd anniversary of The Revolution. Nothing heard on 11670 like last night. 6145, Jan 1 at 0525, RHC English again reverted to A-season frequency instead of 9700, // distorted 6000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Heavy ice/snowfall seems to have knocked off some ND beacons normally heard on groundwave, 1441-1447 UT after sunrise Jan 1: 255-MCW, No SW, StillWater, nor earlier at 0731 UT 341-MCW, No EI, EnId, just OIN from OberlIN, Kansas 350-MCW, No RG, Oklahoma City, Will RoGers World Airport These are still on in the 1441-1447 UT check Jan 1: 267-MCW, HET, 25 watts from HenryEtTa OK; tuned to 265-USB 293-MCW, FBY, 25 watts from FairBurY, Nebraska, regular often ignored 332-MCW, IC, 400 watts from wIChita - pICnIC, Kansas; no Canadian QRM 338-MCW, TU, 30 watts from TUlsa; not often heard 407-MCW, HRU, 25 watts, HeRington, KansUs; regular; tuned to 405-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA [and non]. 11745.0, Jan 1 at 1455, S9 ME music and talk about Ibrahim; 1459 music modulation with some breaks in it. Similar strength to 11815 Turkey. This is Al-Azm Radio, the AFRTS of SA, so not clandestine as some calify it; see pages 357 and 522 of WRTH 2021, where it`s among `Clandestine and Other Target Broadcasts``, site presumed Jeddah but not confirmed. Often heard in bandscans but now I log it for the record. Google translates the name as ``Determination`` which seems quite appropriate for messing with a neighboring country`s affairs, Yemen. Meanwhile, the clandestine Republic of Yemen Radio is blocked on 11860 by Cuban jamming and R. Martí. It used to be well heard before OCB usurped. BTW, the American Forces Network does exist in SA via several FM frequencies in Jeddah and Riyadh (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 305-MCW kHz, Jan 1 at 0744 UT, mixture of two NDBs when tuned to 303-USB, very hard to untangle, but seem to hear ``ROM`` and ``OI``. These lead to: OI, 25 watts at Sioux City - Tommi, Iowa RO, 150 watts at Roswell, New Mexico (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also OKLAHOMA [and non] ** U S A. 13555, Jan 1 at 1448, HIFER beacon WV definitely copied, from Richwood, West Virginia, after trace on Dec 28. Now it`s better than trace of K6FRC California on 13565; at least there are no Cuban spurblobs today to avoid. But both encounter CODAR QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring, next: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [presumed resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490v, in WOR iog discussion and on WOR 2067, I point out the .0015% frequency tolerance FCC allows on WBCQ license; afraid I got it wrong as David Freeborough explains: Re: [WOR] Vague FCC info on WBCQ --- ``Hi Glenn, 0.0015% = 0.000015 = 15 parts per million. At 7490 kHz that's a frequency error of 112.35 Hz. David`` That still seems awfully lax; a SW frequency that far off is bound to cause harmful interference to co-channel stations. I personally would tolerate no more than say, plus/minus 10 Hz. WBCQ is anyway beyond tolerance, typically lately up to 180 Hz high, but I doubt will be facing megadollar fines, increased by inflation index (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1816 UT January 1, 2021 - not 2020 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** BRAZIL [and non]. 11905-11910-11915, Dec 31 at 0627, DRM noise from RNA resumed experiment S9/+10 to here direct, maybe would be decodable. [WORLD OF RADIO 2067]
Tried it for NYE, Jan 1 at 0201; not enough S/N into Bonaire, but 11780-AM is VG altho somewhat distorted with NYE talk and MPB, leading up to 2021y at 0300 UT = local midnight, when I am listening again, retuned just in time at 0259 until -- until --- cut off the transmitter during MPB at usual 0300* sharp, no countdown, no timesignal, no nothing! Quickly retuned Bonaire at 0300 to 6180 to hear --- to hear --- bigsig from La Voz Alegre, Florida gospel huxters with gringo accent, back via MADAGASCAR, but with a fast SAH underneath, maybe RNA still on there but useless. It was a busy WOR Thursday produxion day among other things, so I missed any earlier Jahrwechseln via SW, even Spain at 23 UT, WWV at 00 UT. Nor will there be any Guatemala at 06 UT but celebrations here! Freezing rain is closing in, so who knows whether we shall have power and internet into 2021 (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 335-MCW kHz, Dec 31 at 0641 UT, dash and YLD, which is 1000-watt ND beacon at Chapleau, Ontario. I was tuned to 334-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. I am seldom up to check for CNR1 jammers before 1400 UT; in autumn and A-20 season there would be loads of them WOOB above & below 11 MHz and also circa 13 MHz. So at 1359 Dec 31 I hasten to scan around 11 MHz, and, nothing; maybe on but not winterpropagating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11670, Dec 31 at 0628, RHC Spanish is still on here beyond usual closing; something`s always wrong at RHC. At least it prove there be propagation approaching 12 MHz in the nightmiddle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13555 approx., Dec 31 at 1425, RHC spurblob with F# tone is offset a little more than usual into the ISM/Part 15/HIFER band: then also found around: 13629 S4-S6; 13700-AM fundamental S9/+20; 13772; 13844 QRMing 13845 WWCR on its LSB, tsk2; and 13915 weakest. So these are multiples of plus/minus 71-72 kHz. It`s about time this hit WWCR; so far keeps missing Martí. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Dec 31 at 0632, no signal from VON; nor have I noticed it lately; could be on 11770- instead but not propagating; anyhow not to be heard on either now, nor possible 9690- (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 475+MCW kHz, Dec 31 at 0636 UT, had not heard Dave Frantz`s WWW WA4SZE BEACON for several nights, but back on now from Manchester, TN (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 contents: Australia, Brasil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Eritrea, Korea South, Newfoundland & Labrador, New Zealand, Romania, South Carolina non, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Taiwan non, Turks & Caicos, USA; and the propagation outlook. Completed just in time for first airing anywhere, UT Friday January 1, 2021 on WRMI 5850, VG S9+35/45 into Missouri SDR; but canceled as I feared on 5010 to the south as checked via Bonaire. The 01-02 hour now has 5010 paired with whatever be on 7780 instead of 5850; at least this should now apply to both for the final WOR repeat UT Thursdays at 0130, if reclaimed from `Mundo Sorprendente` specials. WOR 2067 is available as of 0127 UT Friday January 1, 2021 (mp3 stream) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2067.m3u (mp3 download) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2067.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. The shortwave broadcasts should be: 0130 UT Friday WRMI 5850 to NW [confirmed] [5010 to S canceled] 0130 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE [canceled] 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE [canceled] 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE [canceled] 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [presumed resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490), Jan 1 at 0300, WBCQ webcast since 7490 reception is insufficient, of Uncle Bill`s NYE special hour, `Escape from 2020`, with portions of his and other WBCQ programs; but the first thing is a real turn-off, screaming ``365 [sic, sick] days`` in honor of last year. 0329 Tom Call amateur Theatre; 0334 Cosmikdebris and Jane, concluding with FTIOM, and a bit of Spike Jones until 0400. An enjoyable diversion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Received December 30: ``Ahoy Glenn - Here's a TRSW rarity and Collectors Item. Yours was the ONLY report received on our December 27 program via WBCQ and here's your Exclusive eQSL. https://www.w4uvh.net/TRSW_ShipInABottle_eQSL_Hauser.pdf [now via http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html as #106] The report by the way was correct. This design isn't one of our limited edition eQSLs so Cap'n Ric added the proper text to recognize your "accomplishment." You and the Cap'n may have been the only people listening to the broadcast. 73 and Arrgghh. Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate. Texas Radio Shortwave https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw Sailing into your ears from the Lone Star State`` The reports said: ``Contrary to other listings Texas Radio Shortwave Xmas show is at 0300-0400 UT Sunday on WBCQ 6160v and A51/61 webcast, starting at 0303, instead of 0200-``; [later:] It`s not the same Xmas program at all that was on WRMI last night, but: ``Camel Rock `n` Roll Dance Party``, recorded in NYC 1956 when smoking was supposedly kool, er --- gh`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9975, Dec 31 at 0630, KVOH is only S3-S5 as it`s often faded way down into the night over the almost 2-megameter path, closer than Habana. Ray Robinson says some programming changes from January 2 for UT Tuesdays-Saturdays: ``Scott Martin's 'Song in the Night' will be moving to 0600-0700, in place of the repeats of 'Jazz Session'. But, we will still have a nightly hour of Big Band music on the schedule in 'Swing Shift', at 0200-0300`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2067) ** U S A. (101.1), Thu Dec 31 at 1735-1900 UT, caught the last half of Susan Ohori`s world music show in KSFR Santa Fe NM webcast, and indeed she is still calling it `Beyond Borders`, whatever the schedule may show (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carriers, not a thoro search but stepping 10 kHz on USB I hear the telltale hets from plus 1 kHz against the following domestic frequencies: 530, 620, 710, 890; and 1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0413 UT January 1, 2020 HAPPY & SAFE NEW YEAR TO ALL _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** BRAZIL. 11905-11910-11915, Dec 30 at 2205, RNA DRM test has resumed after Xmas break, tnx to tip via Richard Langley. S6-S7, 11 to 15 dB SNR into SJ do Campo KiwiSDR, with screechy cutouts; Better at TWR DR SDR, 16 dB but still some breakups during `A Voz do Brasil`; both read 13.06 kbps; still carrying the FM 96.1 feed? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 244-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0722 UT, dash and TH, 1000-watt ND beacon at Thompson, Manitoba, remote north-central forming the eastern point of a triangle with Flin Flon to the west, and Lynn Lake to the north. The only NDB anywhere on 244 per dxinfocentre.com unlike 242 and 245; zero on 243 where I was hearing it USB at first. 274-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0725 UT, dash and YPM, 25-watt NDB at Pikangikum, Ontario, ``back on``. 1741 km = 1082 st mi = 43+ miles per watt or 0.023+ watts per mile. 284-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0726 UT, dash and QD, 500-watt NDB at The Pas, Manitoba. 300-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0727 UT, dash and YIV, 500-watt NDB at Island Lake, Manitoba. 317-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0728 UT, dash and VC, 1000-watt NDB at La Ronge, Saskatchewan. I was tuned to 316-USB. 326-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0729 UT, dash and YQK, 200-watt NDB at Kenora, Ontario. Mixing with PKZ? See U S A 332-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0731 UT, dash and YFM, 2500-watt NDB at La Grand 4, Quebec, atop my nearby 400-watt IC Wichita KS, and nothing from the usual dominator, 1000-watt QT in Thunder Bay, Ontario. LG-4 is a Hydro dam a kilomile north of Montréal, fishing/outfitter destination. 351-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0735 UT, dash and YKQ, 500-watt NDB at Fort Rupert - Waskaganish, Québec. At first tuned to 350-USB where it was overriding my nearby 400-watt RG at Will Rogers World Airport, OKC, Gally. Heard on 351 also with QRM from IN, really 353, see U S A. 355-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0738 UT, dash and YWP, 200-watt NDB at Webequie, Quebec; still waiting for a pronouncer on this one. Quite a few other Canadians in this session, skipped over as too familiar/regular (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 326-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0729 UT, during mostly-Canadian beacon logging, YQK has CCI from FKZ? or JKZ? Per list must have been PKZ, 400-watt NDB at Pensacola - Pickens, Florida. F-, J- and P- all have four dits/dahs in similar configs: ..-. / .--- / .--. 329-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0730 UT, PMV, 25-watt NDB at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. 344-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0733 UT, TKH, 25-watt NDB at Tallulah, Louisiana. I was tuned to 342-USB. Tallulah is the next town west of Vicksburg, MS, trans-river. Atop mix of more signals. 353-MCW kHz, Dec 30 at 0736 UT, IN, 100-watt NDB at International Falls - Ray, Minnesota; heard tuned to 351-USB mixing with YKQ CANADA, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2066 monitoring: confirmed Wed Dec 30 from 2200:22 on WBCQ 7490.18v, S9/+10 via KB0FX SDR in MO, but faded to S5/S7 by 2227. Also confirmed Wed Dec 30 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S5 via heavy pulse jamming into TWR Bonaire SDR, faded to JBA vs PJ by 2329. Not next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [pre-empted] [ex-0100] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html WOR is always a SW program first, but as stations make it harder to hear, I can`t blame people for accessing a reliable alternative. Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sent a generous Solsticial check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com New WOR 2067 should be ready by early UT Friday January 1 for first broadcast on WRMI 5850, and maybe 5010 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Wed Dec 30 at 1628, WRMI is still on with TOMBS = The Overcomer Ministry Brother Scare, during a caller, // > 5950 << 9395 <<< 9980 et al.
