Logs

** AUSTRALIA [and non]. 5055, Nov 25 at 0730, JBA carrier maybe Radio
4KZ; no signals from the other Pacificans on 5045, 5040, 5035, 5020.
Solomons has been missing lately per Ron, and now there are reports of
political unrest, as in RNZP news at 1300 on 7390 as monitored by
Rodney Johnson, MN, Nov 24:

``A police station and several shops have been set on fire by looters
in Solomon Islands after what started in the morning as a peaceful
protest, calling for the prime minister Manasseh Sogavare to step
down, turned ugly around mid-afternoon.`` UT Nov 25: ``Authorities are
calling for calm and accountability in Solomon Islands, after
political protests developed into looting and buildings were burned in
the capital Honiara`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 6150, Nov 25 at 0726, JBA carrier, maybe the new R. Saturno
at an hour when Manuel Méndez has been hearing it in Spain. Aoki does
not know about it yet, but shows R. Europe, Germany on 6150 starting
at 0700. OTOH, EiBi shows that one from 0900 with Saturno 24h (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 9819.124, Nov 25 at 0719, JBA carrrier, no doubt the always
off-frequency R. Nove de Julho; one of two ZYs on air overnight on 31
m, the other:

9666.252V, Nov 25 at 0721, S8-S5 music from R. Voz Missionária, a
reliable overnight signal which has been drifting slowly upwards.
Nothing on its lower frequency 5939+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, re squeal I reported, et al., Alan Holder replies on
the WOR iog:

``Not a new problem. One of the transmitters has shown this fault for
several months. For a long time it was parked on 11530/9525 jamming
Denge Welat. But they tend to switch the transmitters around.

I e-mailed Hasan Altan of TRT engineering about the squealy modulation
on August 5. He promised to pass this information on to the engineers
at Emirler, and he would monitor the situation. Nothing happened for
several months, so I e-mailed him again on October 19. So far, no
reply.

Another of the transmitters suffers from slight hum and a lower
modulation output. You have no doubt observed this on several
occasions when listening.

Regarding your often reported missing 2200/2300 English broadcast, I
suspect it might be their time for transmitter maintenance. Including
the jammer on Denge Welat, all five transmitters are in use at one
point (1400) during the day. but this drops down to only one or two
between 2300 and 0200 UT. Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K.``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2113 monitoring: I missed confirming final
WRMI repeats, UT Thu Nov 25 at 0130 on 5010, 9395. Did anyone hear
them? (I seldom get any replies to that question, making me wonder if
anyone is trying; or reading this?)

Glenn Hauser logs November 24, 2021  View Printable Version
Thursday, November 25 2021

Logs
** EGYPT. 9899.58 approx., Nov 24 at 2158, R. Cairo S7/S9 of carrier,
maybe trace of English modulation direct, much like 24 hours ago.
Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Nov 24 at 2307, token English from REE admittedly
repeating a 10-year-old interview, about the 15-M movement on `Face to
Face` with Prof. Charles Seaworth (sp?); S9/S7 into Maryland SDR
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 24 at 2309, VOT English is on but with a new
problem: annoying squeal of variable pitch, like 2-3 kHz on both sides
of carrier so transmitted that way; S9 signal into Maryland SDR, and
same squeal into UTwente. They agree carrier is only off by plus 1.7
Hz. 2317 into a feature about the sciatic nerve, not an everyday
topic. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2113 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday November
24 from 2200:26 on WBCQ 7490, S9+15/25 direct. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary
support. By MO or check in US funds on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

One may also contribute PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Nov 24 circa 2000 UT, WRMI with TOMBS, // much
stronger 9980 WWCR. WRMI skedgrid is self-contradictory: XMTR 3 atop
shows 9955 as 24 hours including TOMBS at 16-22 and 05-11; but System
B for 9955 shows ``Internet only`` at 17-22 and 05-11 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 3265, Nov 24 at 2324 check, no signal from this WBCQ into
Maryland SDR; altho Wolfgang Bueschel reported it among Koreans on 90m
via remote in Japan, today at 1352 on 3264.706V. It had not been
reported at any hour for several weeks, not even during `AAAWWW` when
sometimes ``quadri-casting``; last time I heard it that hour was
August 27. So maybe it`s coming back, supposedly available 24h, mostly
for TOMBS. Propagation 101 would suggest it`s most useful during
winter nights, when even 7490v may not propagate (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
