Glenn Hauser logs January 9-10, 2021 |
|
Sunday, January 10 2021
** PHILIPPINES. 9794.97 approx., Jan 9 at 2304, really nice gospel harmonies by a small choir, led by one singer in unknown language so I cannot be converted, strong S9-S6 but considerable fading; 2307-2309+ change of key and another hymn. O yeah, it`s FEBC in Mon as logged recently, way offbeam from westward target (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Sat Jan 9 around 2315 I noticed VOT English to us, successfully sending. But at 0028 UT Jan 10, jon collins, birmingham, uk, notified me: ``the mighty kbc and the voice of turkey in german mixing on the same freq 5960 kHz from 00:00 utc, kbc under trt`` I reply and post: ``Indeed, at 0036 at UTwente Turkish music is atop; 0038-0039 at Maine and Missouri SDRs, KBC atop but with heavy SAH and CCI under. Worse further inland where KBC is not as strong. I told them so! That this would happen if KBC insisted on using 5960. Glenn`` John Figliozzi on the WOR iog: ``There are hectares of empty space on the shortwave bands — even 49 meters. It’s a testament to idiocy that stations can’t seem to find it and end up on top of each other. Of course, this has been a week with a fetid oversupply of idiocy, starting with the excrement in the White House.`` roger in germany replies: ``I think that was not something planned. Somebody ? fell asleep and forgot to pull the plug. ;-)`` ``Yes, but it happens again and again. Tonight still on well past 0100 after TRT switch to Portu/Brazuguese, as on TRT World web and satcast. Glenn`` More about that: at 0054, TRT is signing off in German with a bunch of satellite frequencies. Per WRTH 2021, the only SWBCs in GG are hours at 1230 & 1830 on other frequencies. IS plays but still does not go off air; 0056 and 0059 VOT IDs in Portuguese! 0100 timesignal and opening PP. I think they gave the date a 10 de junho, not janeiro, at 2230 or 0330? local time. Then long list of satellite frequencies and parameters, mostly for Europe but ending with a Galaxy to North America. This has taken 2.5 minutes before they can get around to the news(?) which lasts only 4 minutes 0103-0107. OM continuity announcer speaks with Luso accent, YL with news Brazilian, Then she starts voicing a feature. By now I have found the proper webcast with same programming, via WOR Hitlist, ``TRT VOT World``: https://www.trtdinle.com/radyolar which is accompanied by some kind of schedule but nothing about foreign languages. Also searching on Deutsch, https://www.trtdeutsch.com/ nothing about SW there, but were beta-testing German, on TV. In fact, there is no SW info at all to be found on the TRT websites. At 0124 I finally try 5960 direct, and find a heavy SAH and CCI between KBC and TRT, adding up to S9+10/20. By 0141, KBC is finally in the clear with TRT closed down when the sleepyrator woke up. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2068 monitoring: missed checking Sat Jan 9 at 2030v on WA0RCR, 1860-AM; did anyone hear it? Confirmed Sat Jan 9 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, WOR theme JBA here; by 2328 at UTwente, S9+10. Also confirmed UT Sun Jan 10 starting at 0425 UT om WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, VG local quality S9+10 into KB0FX Warrenton KiwiSDR. Too much excitement from Turkey+ et al. this hour on 5960, so need to catch the Tumbril repeat UT Monday 0300-0400 on 5950 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6160-, UT Sun Jan 10 at 0200, WBCQ #?, with out-of-context bits voiced by Allan & Angela, parody starting with ``Biden will never be president``, mixed with duck-faced trombone rude SFX; to open `Lumpy Gravy` with cosmikdebris and jane. Says this is live on Jan 9. 0206 skip is getting long beyond Maryland, so shoutout to John Carver in Indiana, from whom we have not heard in quite a while; 0207 ``anxiety montage``. Good signal here while 7490.18v is JBA. Another show worth more hearance on busy Saturday nights (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Jan 9 at 2259, WTWW-2 already on with hamstuff, as usual on Saturdays; Jan 10 at 0123 not yet but by 0135, TOUTA is playing at S9+40/30 but with horrible distortion level, more so oro more noticeable than during rock music; and it`s not convenient to switch to $ tereo webcast which lax the distortion; also some hum which may have been on the original recording (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Re TP carrier search Jan 9: 1344 UT was the year`s latest sunrise here of course, not the earliest (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6948-AM, Jan 10 at 0212, S8-S9 carrier with some lite beepery but not SSTV; pirate? Nothing in HFU (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7850-USB, Jan 9 at 2259, 2-way USB weak QRM to CHU CANADA; maybe in Spanish, and not the first time. No ``standard frequency`` reservation for this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 13800, Jan 9 at 2311, JBA carrier, suspected RHC leapfrog mixing product of 13680 over 13740 another 60 kHz beyond, which are S9+20 and +30 respectively; but this too weak to match altho maybe a trace of music when Cubans were talking. But nothing fundamental is scheduled here now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0518 UT January 10 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Saturday, January 09 2021
** BULGARIA. 11600, Jan 9 at 1505, S3-S7 of dead air, presumably TOMBS as scheduled 15-17 UT; altho SOH and CNR1 jamming also could be here, but not much coming from thataway. Not unusual for Brother Scare`s satellite feed linx to fail, leaving SW transmitters, including US ones, with dead air, no one paying attention or ready to switch to webfeed backup; who cares? And this is during Sabbathday disservices, no less, oh my! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 9700, Jan 9 at 0715, RHC English still on and VG S9+10 with an American? commenting on Capitol terrorism; also 0722 on 6100 at S9+20; and at 0726, 5040 open carrier still on at S9+20/30. You never know whether any of them will be on after 0700 and if so whether for the full final hour. May depend on whether sloppyrators have dozed off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13575, 13638 approx., Jan 9 at 1457, extremely distorted spurblobs with F# tone from RHC 13700-AM, not very strong, while on the plus side, 13763 is S7; at 62-63 kHz intervals, next one up should be around 13825, but not detectable vs huge 13820 Radio Martí. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Jan 9 at 0718, no signal from VON; unknown if on 11770- instead, 25m dead (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, Jan 9 at 1456, K6FRC HIFER beacon is JBA, but always noteworthy as a 1.8-milliwatt transmitter from Patterson, California. None others audible in the ISM band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2068 monitoring: not confirmed Saturday Jan 9 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, zzz. Did anyone hear it? Probably Ken Zichi will report it eventually from habitual monitoring along with SW Radiogram. Next: 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE [resumed?] 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE [resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Robert Zerilli, Hazlet NJ, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``I`m a long time SWL and appreciate you being out there`` One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800, UT Sat Jan 9 at 0324 check, WRMI with `Freedom Synergy Radio` concluding and probably going on to another episode at 0330; an `open` hour where it seems FSR may appear on no/short notice instead of whatever else be scheduled; so beware UT Tuesdays vs Wavescan and WORLD OF RADIO. This one had a New Year message so seems fairly recent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4980, Jan 9 at 0728, WRMI reads S9/+10 but muffled audio undermodulated, and I`m not even sure of language before goes into music; then unseems // any other WRMI frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505.00, Sat Jan 9 at 0327, weak gospel huxter in English, poor S5-S6 barely above S5 noise level. Got to be reactivated WRNO after long absence: I last logged it Oct 22 & 27, and found it missing when checked Nov 10 & 18. MARE SWBC summary shows Harold Frodge last had it on some unknown October date (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search: quite a while since I have done this as a night-owl sleeping past sunrise here; but Jan 9 I happen to be awake by 1350 UT so I check anyway altho the sun has just arisen at 1343, which is just past the earliest of the year at 1344. On the hand-held DX-398 with internal antenna only and battery power, I do hear plenty of carriers as 9-kHz tuning is slightly offset minus, audiblizing each where they exist: not exactly in the order tuned: 594, 693, 729, 747, 774, 828, 873, 972, 1044, 1053, 1089, 1134, 1242, 1287, 1566. All checked loop NW from E Asia rather than WSW from D Under, as apropos for mid-winter/summer. Likely sources are: 594, 693, 747, 774, 828, 873, NHK Japan superpowers; 972, 1134, 1566, Korea South; 729 Japan 50 kW, or China & Vietnam each 200 kW; 1044, China 600 kW; 1053, Japan or China 50 kW; 1089, China 600 kW; 1242, Japan 100 kW; 1287, Japan 50 kW. All glancing thru the WRTH 2021 frequency listings where the powers are outstanding. As 1400 approaches I am still getting 747 & 774 carriers, so I hope to detect NHK time pips for a tad more certainty, but this is not to be as nearby 780 KSPI Stillwater starts clanging! music at 1359; for Pete`s sake! ** CANADA. Re my log of 750 CKJH, Melfort, Saskatchewan, Murray Lycan, VA1CQ, Halifax, replies: ``As a former Saskatchewan resident long ago, I'll have you know CKJH studios (Beach Radio) are located only 1 km from Windsor Slough at the Melfort Golf & Country Club. I suppose this could qualify as a beach area if you squint your eyes`` (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2068)
** MALI. 5995, Jan 8 at 0709, S9+10/20 from ORTM in French with African flutish music, very nice, good modulation too; and by now no ACI from Cuba or Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 960, Jan 7 at 0716 UT check, KGWA Enid again in dead air with algo underneath. Also Jan 8 at 0654 DA; with nulling, dominant signal is a non-sports talker; KGWA blasts back on at 0659 for Rush ad and ID, 0700 Faux ``news`` starts. Wish I had time and ear protexion to monitor for DX during nightly protracted open carriers KGWA so kindly provides. Note: on WOR 2068 I mis-call the understation heard before from San Angelo TX as KSKL instead of correct KGKL (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday January 7 at new time of 0130 ex-0100, on WRMI 5010 only, fair via DomRep KiwiSDR. Expected 7780 instead with music before and after 0130; at 0155 beepery and no voice announcement before 0159 WRMI ID; typical behavior of `TIAMS`, now running from 0100. WORLD OF RADIO 2068 contents: aUstralia, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Eritrea and non, France, Germany, India, International Vacuum and non, Jammu & Kasmhir, Korea South and non, Kurdistan non, Madagascar, North America, Oklahoma and non [960 TX station is KGKL not KSKL], Perú, Philippines, Pridnestrovye, Puerto Rico, Tajikistan, Turkey, USA and non; explaining DXing; propagation outlook WOR 2068 is available as of 0107 UT Friday January 8, 2021 (mp3 stream) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2068.m3u (mp3 download) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2068.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. The shortwave broadcasts should be: 0130 UT Friday WRMI 5850 to NW [and 5010 to S?] 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE [resumed] 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE [resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Robert Zerilli, Hazlet NJ, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``I`m a long time SWL and appreciate you being out there`` One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA BUT, first airing UT Friday January 8 at 0130 confirmed on 5850, VG direct and S9+30/35 via MO SDR, and 7780, S9/+10 via UTwente, not 5010 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490.18v), UT Sat Jan 9 at 0100, WBCQ webcast with `AAAWWW` --- starts right off with paranoid assertions that ``conservative`` media are being ``purged`` from the web; can WBCQ be next in a ``to-do list`` by evil forces of Biden supporters, behind which is China to turn the US into communist servitude? Hal Turner fears he won`t be able to feed his show to BCQ, needs backup method. Topic A, I really don`t want to hear any more as they are buying into blaming the Left for storming the Capitol, etc., etc. 0137 recheck, a break to ``lighten up``?? Gives tonight`s frequencies as 7490 & 6160; but more of the same in the name of Free Speech. 0153 implies that those who disagree are stupid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, January 8 at 0703-0707 UT: 603, 621, 639, 684*, 729, 747(2), 774(2), 837, 882(2), 891*, 909, 999, 1044, 1107, 1125, 1215 kHz. *=strongest; (2) at least two carriers beating. Notable for its absence is 846, which used to appear even earlier after TP sunset at Kiritimati; is it off the air? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIALS From Murray Lycan, VA1CQ: ``Hi Glenn, you're as constant as time itself. It's been years (decades?) since I've looked you up online and I'm glad to see you're not only still alive but you're amazingly still reporting on radio. How comforting! Enjoying your most recent report now. Since I'm a new retiree, I now have endless time to spend at my radios`` (WORLD OF RADIO 2068) This report dispatched at 0230 UT January 9 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
