Glenn Hauser logs October 16, 2020  View Printable Version
Friday, October 16 2020

Logs
** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, Oct 16 at 0218, surprised to hear YL in
Japanese, not Chinese of Korean; but no longer surprised when after
song at 0220 switches at 0221 to Brazuguese, from RAE. Relays via WRMI
are still multi-lingual from homes, whatever the nominal language hour
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ASCENSION. 7305, Oct 16 at 0629, one B-B-C chime sequence and
opening with drumming in presumed Hausa as scheduled until 0700, 125
kW, 55 degrees; very poor (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 6135.083, Oct 16 at 0638, soft music at S5-S7, presumed
always off-frequency R. Aparecida; and with splash from 6145 RHC where
something is always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5040, Oct 16 at 0622, RHC English carrier is still on at
S9+20 with maybe trace of modulation. Turnoff time of this varies
widely, with or without programming. Ron Howard says my JBA carrier on
5040 would not have been Vanuatu, still on 3945 + harmonix of that
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6008-6052 range, Oct 16 at 0632, pulse jamming splattering
out of full bore on 6030 despite OCB being off after 0400 for months,
tnx to the incompetent and wasteful Jamming Command where something is
always beyond wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Oct 16 at 1419, RHC missing, while 15230 is still on
at S8 but just barely modulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7254.9v, Oct 16 at 0630, VON AWOL again (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** PALAU. 9900, Oct 16 at 0934, no signal from revived T8WH test as I
was told planned, when I briefly awaken; but numerous other awakees
were getting it with definite IDs after 0800 on 9930 instead, and with
CNR1 jamming apparently already there vs Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 293-MCW kHz, Oct 16 at 0643 UT, common FBY, 25 watts from
Faribury, Nebraska, with QRM from another NDB at same pitch, hard to
separate, until their slighty different periods unoverlap them, UI:
which is 30 watts from QUIncy, Illinois, where they pronounce it
Quinsy instead of Quinzy as in Mass. Just in time before UI fades out
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2056 monitoring: confirmed first
broadcast UT Friday October 16 at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 VG to NW, and

** U S A. 4840, Oct 16 at 0625, WWCR yet again with dead air except
for some hum, S9+40. TOMBS still on 3215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Oct 16 at 0236, WRNO is back on after missing some
nights, but only S5-S9 and JBM music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4905, Oct 16 at 0624, RTTY again here with CODAR QRM,
not on 4985, presumed another jump by NSS. Earlier in evening, no RTTY
on any of 4895, 4905 or 4985 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9900, Oct 16 at 1414, two weak signals slightly apart
making LAH, presumed ChiCom jamming and RFA Tibetan via Kuwait as
scheduled this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9955, Oct 16 at 1414, weak talk with flutter, presumably
RFA Burmese via TAJIKISTAN at 1330-1430, as per Aoki/NDXC; rather than
WRMI which sometimes runs past 1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
