Glenn Hauser logs October 1-2, 2020  View Printable Version

Logs
** CHINA. 9215, Oct 2 at 1246, JBA carrier with flutter, a CNR1 jammer
vs SOH frequency --- the only WOOB one I find below 14 MHz.
Propagation is still degraded. K-index is 3. October is traditionally
a month for a peak in SW reception conditions, but not yet! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA? 4940, reply to my latest report:

``4.940 kHz 23.30 UTC 01-10-2020 SINPO 55545. Caribbean music in
Spanish, including one song dedicated to Colombia (Cantando, cantando
yo viviré/Colombia tierra querida) as well as Dominican singer Juan
Luis Guerra. Then, I also heard a program called Casados y felices, at
23.40, presented by Gladis and Enrique Saavedra, both speaking in
Spanish with Colombian accent. As additional clue, they ended the
program by inviting listeners to e-mail them to
info@fuerzadepaz.com.

So, this is the new station Glenn Hauser has been recently reporting
on the group. As far as I can remember the same frequency was used by
Continental or Amazonas Internacional, both Venezuelan stations owned
by the same people living in Barinas, but years ago. Now they're off
the air! Therefore, although there was no clear station ID, some facts
indicate that it broadcasts from Colombia, such as the Colombian
Spanish, strong reception in relation to my location, and the e-mail
address the aired which seems belongs to the Colombia para Cristo
organisation.

In fact, I dare to say that this is another station operated by the
Colombia para Cristo organisation, which also operated Marfil Stereo,
La Voz de tu Conciencia and Alcaraván Radio. Maybe friend Rafael
Rodríguez in Bogotá may give us some relevant and additional
information about this new –tentative Colombian- radio station.
(Leonardo Santiago, SW35, 5-meter longwire, Mérida, Venezuela)``

Tnx, Leonardo. 4940, Oct 2 at 0132 check via Bonaire SDR, on again in
Spanish, S8-S9. At 0537 direct, tropical music S8-S9 above local noise
level S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Oct 2 at 0537, R. Rebelde, S9+20 of dead air --- well,
at least it`s not distorted since there is no modulation! Still
propagating post-sunrise at 1240 to S9/+10 and still dead. Something`s
always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 720, Oct 2 at 1210, open carrier with slow SAH of
184/minute = 3.07 Hz. Comes to life with Mexican NA, choral until 1215
``Vd. escucha: El Fonógrafo 7-20 -- mil vatios -- Ciudad Juárez``..
That would be XEJCC; maybe also mentioned call but not positive.

All this contradicts IRCA Mexican Log info which shows daytime only
with 25000 watts, sign on at 1159 with Chihuahua state anthem around
1205 after NA. WRTH does show only 1 kW.

Then follow a string of mandatory PSAs mostly governmental, except for
one promoting a webstation-only, apparently, ``Radio Cid?, La Voz de
los Juarenses``. 1219.6 Fonógrafo slogan ID again and fading down.

Aha, searching finds it`s really Radio STIRTT, as here:
https://www.facebook.com/radiostirttjuarez/
or
https://www.facebook.com/StirttSeccionJuarez/
http://www.radiostirtt.org.mx

Ahh, the Mexicans love their cumbersome acronyms, initialisms! This
means Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Industria de la Radio, la
Televisión y Telecomunicaciones, i.e. a labor union. We learn that 14
septiembre was Dia del Locutor, and today 2 de octubre is Día
Internacional de la NO VIOLENCIA, e.g. against women in India. And 22
de noviembre will be their 72nd anniversary. Such celebrations are the
major subject of these displays. This page is to listen-live:
https://www.facebook.com/radiostirttjuarez/app/190322544333196/
where I hear some upbeat stereo songs; ID at 1847 as I write this
sounds like ``Radio Estir``. But we digress!

711.27v & 728.73v kHz, two matching wobbly spurs making exactly
same-pitched hets against other Mexicans on 710 & 730, are what first
drew me to 720, since that would be the transmitter producing them
exactly halfway between. This was first at 1208. Once modulating, late
sign-on? from 1210, 720 itself sounds OK.

The spurs remain but by 1222 they are both gone, while 720 is back up
with song in Spanish, talk, and not fading out until 1226. LSR Enid
today is 1228 UT. There has been no other significant signal on 720
which could have been source of spurs, but the disparity in
disappearances detracts from 100% certainty. Maybe XEJCC transmitter
was tweaked in the meantime, or lost them once warmed up? BTW, at 1226
the other Chihuahuans, XEDP on 710 and XEHB 730 are still in (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
KRFS-AM 1600 Superior, Nebraska. 44 Watts at 405 miles. At 101am mountain
Oct 1st, I had "The Middle" by Hailey Steinfeld, Zedd & Gray. KRFS-AM
doesn't stream but they seem to be the only logical choice.

KAHI-AM 950 Auburn, CA 5000 Watts/3 towers, 835 miles away. Heard with
"When Radio Was" old time radio programs, actually rising up quite nicely
against the usual very dominant KKSE Denver, CO

I also had KOGO 600 amd KABC 790 last night. KABC is VERY rare here. KOGO
isnt rare but not very common.
