** AUSTRIA. 6155, Dec 23 at 0641, non-classical music from Ö1, now S9+10/20, much better than usual. Until tonight I had been disappointed by poor signals during our only chance to hear ORF, the wake-up domestic service relay from 0600 to 0710/0720; even tho the English news capsule at the end was long ago eliminated. 0644 AustroGerman announcement, novelty song; 0647 TC for 7:47 and finally some Brahms. Moosbrunn 300 kW transmitters except for this are exclusively to relay foreign stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. 7220, Dec 23 at 1547 good S8-S9 song, in English? Most likely CRI Japanese from Jinhua site this hour, ergo aimed sorta thisaway; rather than also EiBi-listed hour of VOV in Vietnamese to North Africa. No QRhaM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 9700, Dec 23 at 0550, VP signals SAHing, presumably Turkey and // 6000 RHC English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 6060, Dec 23 at 0550, RHC still colliding with Algeria via FRANCE. At 0646 S9+20 in the clear, mailbag in English, but somewhat distorted. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 6100, Dec 23 at 0551, RHC VP here in wrong language Spanish not English, // much better 5040; also ACI from 6105 Arabic = Algeria via France at 0500-0700. Same at 0637 recheck, S9/+10. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6000, UT Thu Dec 23 at 0643, RHC mailbag in English, S9+30 but undermodulated; // 9700 S9+10 also u-m. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Fog this morning, Dec 23 at 1510 UT, so there ought to be some tropo enhancement TV. Hepburn maps predict we`re on edge of Level 1, but up to level 4 blob south/eastward as of 1500. Most `open` channels 8-36 show BAD signals into the STB, but only one decodes, RF 26 as KOTV Tulsa on 6-1; KQCW-SD on 6-2; and NewsOn6 on 6-3; soon fading as does the visible fog (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 6145, Dec 23 at 0550, strong music not RHC, 0552 S9+10 Romanian, sure sounds like an adstring. RRI Galbeni scheduled 0500-0600 to W Europe & USward, but chopped off at 0557*. Must be a domestic program relay, but not specifically delineated as such in WRTH 2021 nor current EiBi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2118) ** SPAIN. 12030, Dec 23 at 1549, REE IS at S9+30/40 despite Mideast aiming, also weaker 11670 toward Africa, both programming from 1600 weekdays; nothing yet on Americas frequencies 9690 & 11940, which don`t start until 1855 weekdays, if on air at all (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2117 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday December 23 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5010 S7-S8 into Maryland remote; 9395, S9+10/20 into Missouri SDR, following 0128 `Sound of Silence`. WOR 2118 should be ready early UT Fri Dec 24 for first broadcasts at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 & 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2118 contents: Abkhazia, Algeria and non, Antarctica and non, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, (Colomba), Cuba and non, Egypt, France, India, Italy, (Kashmir), Netherlands, New Zealand, North America, Oklahoma, Romania, Russia, San Andrés and non, (Sa`udi Arabia), UK, USA, Zanzibar; unidentified 6114; propagation outlook - ()Countries mentioned but not in order. Thanks this week to Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous Winter Solstice contribution on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 6114, the RTTY INTRUDER, had been heard every night but not Dec 22 around 0700 check. Ron Howard replied to my previous inquiry: ``Hi Glenn - Dec 22, checking 6115 kHz between 0525 to 0610 UT. Japan starting to slowly fade up; no trace at all of Congo; normally Japan would be coming up about 0500, so tonight was rather poor; no RTTY or any kind of QRM; Japan with mostly non-stop pop songs (Ricky Martin - "Livin' La Vida Loca," etc.). Ron (California)`` 6114, Dec 23 at 0546 the RTTY is back, vs JBA 6115 carrier presumed JAPAN not CONGO; still at 0640 when Nikkei music has grown to S6, the RTTY evitable by USB tuning, but that should not be necessary! I search the UDXF iog on 6114 and only get possibly unrelated hits: ``LOG 4 to 6 MARS 2016 + RUSSIAN NAVY, SCHWEITZER ANDRE 07854 RCV : Russian Navy Sevastopol 1525z CIS-12/AT3004D/USB Encrypted messages – (QYT4 Mode Actived : RIR98 de RCV QYT4 ….) Thursday, December 23 2021
** ALGERIA [non]. 6060, Dec 22 at 0405, Arabic IDs from RTA and 0406 into Qur`an. Heavy CCI from RHCuba with humbuzz. TDA is scheduled 04-06, southward from FRANCE toward Algerian outback and Sahel in the protracted absence of registered imaginary SW broadcasts from inside Algeria. Something`s always wrong at RHC. And how is TDA supposed to know Cuba is there if not in HFCC? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Dec 22 at 1500, LRA36 is on again this Wednesday, S5-S6 music, 1502 Base Esperanza ID; off at 1541 check: via Brasil SDR where I had to camp as two were already tuned for this. Others report it went off at 1530 or 1532* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700, Dec 22 at 0408, RHC English is here tonight instead of 6165, S9+20 but undermodulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC. See also ALGERIA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Dec 22 at 2000, RHC continues in Spanish, what happened to English? Something`s always wrong at RHC. About today being ``dia del educador`` since 1961, and hyping Cuba as ``territorio libre --- de analfabetismo``, land free of illiteracy. Is this another lie? Venezuela also makes that claim --- then why are those the two least free countries in Latin America? Then 2004 weather report from Dr. José Rubiera, https://www.cibercuba.com/noticias/2019-01-23-u164415-e164415-s27061-jose-rubiera-celebro-su-cumpleanos-72 including snow in Labrador, -14 in Calgary, also bits of US, Mexico, Central America and Caribbean predixions. He also appears in English around :15 past those hours. En seguida: deportes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9899.599, Dec 21 at 2208, R. Cairo, S9+30 into UTwente in English but very distorted. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 15355, Dec 22 at 1950, S5-S7 in unknown language, seems a sermon with hymn breaks; 1957 AWR theme briefly, 1959*. Aoki shows Ibo via Talata at 1930-2000; 15355 resumes at 2030 in French via Austria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Checking out Part 15 FMs in Enid to go with Xmas Sound and Light shows, UT Dec 22 from 0017 past 0100, the two regular ones each year: Singing Xmas Trees, at the NE corner of Oakwood and Oak in an (ex?) oil field lot: 89.5 MHz, seems only three tunes looping: Chipmunx, Jingle Bells and I Wanna Hippopotamus for Xmas. Quite short range; we parked a little too far for full quieting, and it was hard to make out the ``worm`` along the fence. In the Pheasant Run barrio, address hard to make out but maybe 5701 on that street, the usual house and trees with a longer stereo loop including Mannheim Steamroller and quiet carols alternating, on 94.9 MHz with greater range of a couple blox. We did not find the third one in another neighborhood, but maybe this one on 95.1 which made the front page of the Dec 22 Eagle: ``Local light show brightens the holidays Kat Jeanne | Enid News & Eagle 21 hrs ago lightshowhouse The Sudlow Family Light Show is on display at 2442 Edgewood Drive in Enid. (Photo provided) An Enid family is putting on its fifth annual light show outside of their home with thousands of programmed lights and music. The light show is at 2442 Edgewood Drive and runs 5:30-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. {CST = UT -6} “On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, it is pretty packed outside of our house,” Ryan Sudlow said. “People will just line their cars up and down the street and stay and watch the program. The whole point of this is to make sure we have done our part to make people’s Christmases a little bit brighter.”... https://www.enidnews.com/news/local-light-show-brightens-the-holidays/article_bd17a9ea-62af-11ec-8f37-47a9e141a19c.html I assume similar things are running all over, but I never see any other reports of such ``local DX`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 21 at 2300, VOT is S9+45, English VG into UTwente. Something`s not erroneous in Emirler today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Chopped off gospel huxter still going at 2330, no ID, and not Wavescan as scheduled before. Missed zzz Wed Dec 21 at 1030 on WRMI 5850; but Richard Lemke got it, above. Confirmed Wednesday December 22 from 2200:23 on WBCQ 7490 minus 47 Hz = 7489.953 into Virginia SDR, S9/+10; S9+10/20 direct at 2222. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, December 22 at 0409, earlier than usual for me so a somewhat different selexion, and tuning downwards: 1584-2, 1566, 1458, 1215, 1161, 1152, 1125-2, 1107-, 963, 855-2, 846!-TP, 837, 774-2, 711, 693, 684, 612, 531 kHz. -2 means at least two carriers beating. 846 presumed TP Kiritimati, almost sundown there already. 1566 suspected TWR Benin. 1584 has low-power Euro/ME only, perhaps most likely 2 x 5 kW SER in Spain and/or another SER in Ceuta (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0044 UT December 23 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Tuesday, December 21 2021
** CUBA. 6165, Dec 21 at 0735, indecisive RHC S9+20 with music presumably English hour, instead of 9700, and no other RHCs active this late. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
The other side: ``READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW December 21, 2021 EMIGRATION 'Cuba will be a stopover, but not my country anymore' --- People in Cuba are desperately looking for money to make it to Nicaragua. JORGE ENRIQUE RODRÍGUEZ | La Habana`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1640030479_36326.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 13710.051, Dec 21 at 1541, Qur`an at S9-S6; always heard off-frequency, but this time I take time to measure, SRI/SBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 18131-USB, Dec 21 at 1536, K8C, ``The Christmas Train``, pausing to ``offload some liquid``; had intermittent carrier QRM on 18132, jhamming? See my Dec 16 log when he was on 18127-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re WORLD OF RADIO monitoring, which I confirmed starting UT Mon Dec 20 at 0359.5 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160-, John Carver replies: ``Glenn, For what it's worth I tried to listen to WOR on Area 51. About eight or nine minutes into the broadcast it just disappeared. Never did come back. In the previous four weeks I heard another partial show once and nothing the other times. The last four weeks or so I'm lucky if I get to hear an hour or two of Area 51 programming before it disappears. No axe to grind or anything. John`` I asked him, ``John, Tnx, reminds me that just because a WOR starts doesn`t mean it will air to the conclusion. I need to recheck toward the end. This time do you think it faded out or transmitter went off the air completely? Glenn`` ``As far as I could tell, Glenn, I believe the transmitter was on the entire time. I thought the feed had dropped and was waiting for it to come back. That happens a lot. It got down to only three or four minutes left and I turned it off. Probably should have left it on to see if the next program started on time. The S meter stayed up while I was waiting for the program to pick up again. Thanks man. John`` Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?] 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support. Thanks this week to William T. Hassig, Mt. Prospect, IL, for a Winter Solstice contribution on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, Dec 21 at 0727, as Jeff had predicted, this WRMI-5 is back on air; first noted missing Dec 2 and ever since. But it`s wacko paranoid preaching by BBB on YWS or T2P, NOT what`s on the System F 9455 schedule, Family Radio in Spanish! S9+10; and the other 31ms are also propagating this nightmiddle, 9955 also S9+10 but louder with TOMBS, and 9395, S9+20 with Xmasmx on guitar. System E sked calls for TOMBS on 9395, not 9955 where System B is supposedly world music on internet only. But the transmitter grid at 07-08 shows 9395 with SMTV cult, 9955 with TOMBS. Too bad the WRMI skeds cannot be accurately coördinated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Tue Dec 21 at 1547, beepery from `SW Radiogram`: this new without notice WRMI time unknown to Kim: https://swradiogram.net/ Altho I mentioned it back on Dec 10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9385, Dec 21 at 0730, S2-S3 of English talk, sounds like M. Angelica, so WEWN is active. So poor, but modulation seems OK. 15610, Dec 21 at 1913, S3-S4 of English RCC stuff into PEI SDR, also so poor, but mod seems OK on WEWN afternoon. SAM shows carrier offset minus 78v Hz, quite a bit = 15609.922v. Kiwis are sometimes mis-calibrated, so I check another, E Falmouth MA, Cape Cod: MUCH better here and offset as only +5 Hz. And on this S9+15 signal I can hear that WEWN squeal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6114 approx., Dec 21 at 0732, still RTTY INTRUDING, QRM to 6115 R. Nikkei, JAPAN unless tuned with narrow USB. I assume it also interfere with CONGO when on 6115 earlier before 0600, right, Ron? Can anyone ID the RTTY source?
