Glenn Hauser logs January 15-16, 2021 |

Saturday, January 16 2021
![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) ** CUBA. 9699.879, Jan 16 at 0227, RHC English way off-frequency and relatively weak S5-S7; same as happened this morning to 13700-minus before I could measure it, surely same transmitter. This kind of anomaly rarely happens, but has before to make things more interesting. All other RHC frequencies checked are within a few Hz of nominal. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FRANCE. 5870-5875-5880, Jan 15 at *2330-2400*, RFI DRM cuts on and off at these precise minutes, not *2300. I set up Bonaire SDR early, tuned for DRM and heard silence until 2330. Then there was music, and after 2333 mostly H&F discussion in French, only S7-S8 but enough, few if any dropouts, labeled: S/N 14.7 dB; mode B; Chan 10 kHz; 16 QAM; 8.08 kbps; TDF. Did not check Jan 14; see detailed discussion in previous report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 15 at 2301, still no signal from REE`s North American beam when English should be airing on Friday. Several others have noticed it missing for a few days, maybe because of massive snowstorm? I`m checking via Bonaire SDR. But there is a VP S4-S6 signal on 11940, the South American beam which should be much better there; recognizing the casual voice of Justin Coe but not whatever he be saying (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2069 monitoring; next: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [new; to be confirmed] 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [to resume?] 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Brandon Jordan, TN, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``Heya Glenn. One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6200-RCUSB, Jan 16 at 0001, frenetic music with voiceovers, VP S4 to Bonaire SDR nearby where ROCV should be better. No one else has mentioned that this is on USB only, no LSB, but with reduced carrier detectable by off-minus tuning, just like 6906v was, same transmitter presumably. When tuned in Synch AM mode, carrier offset is shown varying up to 8 Hz mostly on the plus side. By 0007 has improved to S5-S6; by 0205, JBA S3 music in USB, so not yet Tibet. Oh2, at 0217 Jan 16, I am checking 6200 direct but mainly hearing two-way in Spanish on USB above the JBA carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Jan 16 at 0241-0244: this time I am tuning the MW band in AM mode, 10 kHz steps, merely noting where I can detect a 1 kHz het, and not bothering to ascertain whether it`s above or below the domestic frequencies, but well-assuming these: 711, 819, 891, 909, 981, 1089, 1179. I would also have expected at least 531 and 621, but bottom of band suffers high line noise level peak (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0511 UT January 16 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs January 15, 2021 |

Friday, January 15 2021
![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) ** CANADA. 242-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0724 UT, dash and XC, 500-watt ND beacon at Cranbrook, BC; mixed with FS and EL, see USA. Distance to Enid: only 2051 km = 1274 stmi since it`s in the SE corner, but new here.
244-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0724 UT, dash and TH, 1000-watt NDB at THompson, Manitoba; axually further than XC, due north at 2152 km = 1337 stmi. DXinfocentre has nothing else anywhere on 244, clear channel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9965, Jan 15 at 1607, rather strong pulse and noise jamming against nothing; is it DentroCuban Jamming Command paranoia, incompetence or really holding a grudge? Radio República via Costa Rica drew the jamming here originally. That was last heard exactly 10 years ago! Currently the only occupant of 9965 is Palau and not at this hour (and no jam now on 9955, despite WRMI being off) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13699.9 approx., Jan 15 at 1556, bandscan finds poor off-frequency-minus music, but cuts off at 1557* before I can finish measuring it. Surely RHC, one of the less frequent something`s-always-wrongers, but has happened before. Nothing left, not even TOMBulgaria, supposedly 13700 at 1400-1800 per Aoki/NDXC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 255-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0725 UT, SW, Stillwater NDB is finally back on the air. Checked nightly since last heard Dec 31. Jan 1 snowstorm may have knocked it off. 341-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0703 UT, EI, Enid NDB is finally back on air. Checked nightly/daily since last heard Jan 2. I wonder if the same engineer/entity were responsible for reactivating both at about the same time. Both 25 watts, and altho further, SW always sounds louder (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 15205.059, Jan 15 at 1603, JBA signal from Riyadh as scheduled 1545-1757 per Aoki/NDXC; typically askew. There`s no shame if your receiver cannot measure beyond the decimal point; but if it can, you should do so (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 242-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0719 UT, ND beacon EL, which is 400 watts from, where ELse, EL Paso, Texas, a new one here. I was tuned to 240-USB. BTW there is also an LE on 242, Lexington KY. On 242 itself at 0724 UT, I am hearing 3-way mix at different pitches of EL; FS = 400 watts from Sioux Falls SD, normally the only/dominant; and XC, see CANADA. 347-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0732 UT, NDB AFK, which is 25 watts from Nebraska City, NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also OKLAHOMA ** SINGAPORE. 7355, Jan 15 at 1609, Korean at S9/+10, the SSOB by far once 7490 WWCR begone; i.e., BBC via Kranji at 1530-1830 carrying on far beyond NK and why isn`t it jammed? Per my NGS globe with geometer, the 250 kW, 25-degree beam then crosses southern Alaska, central BC, MT, WY and within a couple degrees of hitting Enid head-on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. If you miss the hot-off-the-press Thursday evening first airing of WORLD OF RADIO, UT Friday at 0130 on WRMI 5850 & 7780, you have to wait until Saturday morning for the next SW chance; unless accessed otherwise such as via website or podcast. Next 2069s: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [new; to be confirmed] 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [to resume?] 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Brandon Jordan, TN, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``Heya Glenn. VG noise here as usual, so I try the Omaha KiwiSDR; S/N varying around 12 dB, not enough altho S9+5; labeled 8.28 kbps, mode B, Chan 5 kHz; never mind what`s on the rest of it, 13650-13655. Occasional bits decode; 1656 a few more giving 504 area code, Fellowship-something, .LA.org. 1658 ``Over the Rainbow`` music and WINB ID, 1700 YL starts another gospel huxter, but cut off the air*. Looking thru the program list at WINB.com I find none with Fellowship in their name (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6200, Jan 15 at 0713, S2-S3 of music, presumed ROCV reactivated on new frequency, as first reported by Manuel Méndez. Apparently runs all-night; alternate frequency to be 7375. Per Aoki/NDXC the only other 6200s to beware of are: Tibet from 2050 to 1805 including English at 0700 --- but that`s circa noon there; and Voice of Jinling, Nanjing, China at 12-15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1927 UT January 15 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs January 14-15, 2021 |
|
Friday, January 15 2021
![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) ** ALBANIA [non]. 5850, Jan 14 at 2302, R. Tirana via WRMI, news in English, OM caster has a distinctive sing-song tonality. 2309 on to mailbag with YL host, first from Richard Novak who reported this transmission in September; then someone else from October, 5850 at 2300-2329 specifically mentioned. Also plans for Xmas programming, so this may be a very old playback; I had not noticed any news items which could be outdated or not. Explaining how Albanians are not so much into celebrating Xmas like western Europeans, after years of Commie suppression --- and Orthodoxy, Islam? 2316 on to a song.
The thing is, I was not aware of this broadcast, and neither is the WRMI skedgrid for System H which is blank 7 days a week during this slot! Yet apparently listeners have been running across it for months. 5850 is not in WRTH 2021 either, but other WRMI relays including 2230 on 7780 most days of the week, which I have been hearing. At 2300 too much else is going on, such as Spain and Turkey in English, and for me, BBC World News America on PBS/OETA. This was like-a-local on the caradio since it`s aimed right at us; we were on the way back from an out-of-town appointment to get our Moderna vaccination #1. BTW within a few blox of the US 81 joint antenna site inside Enid of LPFMs on 94.3 and 99.9, we got heavy FM QRM to 5850 --- just overload, or does their separation of 5.6 MHz have something to do with that? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 376-MCW kHz, Jan 14 at 0725 UT, ND beacon dash and YAG, 40 watts from Fort Frances, Ontario. Last logged Nov 17, 2020 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See USA for 3 more logs this session ** FRANCE [and non]. 5875-DRM, Jan 14 at 2330, I`m too busy to check another night for RFI test, but meanwhile ideas about it have come in to the WOR iog. Alan Gale points out that a round-the-world yacht race is underway, and since TDF has previously broadcast SW specials for such races, this could be related, pure speculation. This from Michel Fremy: ``Radio France International in DRM. TDF performs irregular DRM broadcast tests during the month of January: from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 7405 kHz; from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on 9900 Khz; from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on 15285 kHz; from 3:05 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on 9905 kHz and from 11 p.m. to midnight on 5875 kHz. These are data broadcasts mainly for tests of the DRMCAST system for ships. The programs are broadcast by the Issoudun transmitter center (hours in UTC). These emissions were not recorded in the HFCC Winter database. Regular Radio France International [DRM] broadcasts continue 24 hours a day on 3965 kHz from Issoudun with 10 kW and an omnidirectional antenna. - https://www.media-radio.info https://www.facebook.com/Radiosdumonde/ Michel FREMY`` Those times convert to 24h UT: 13-17 7405, 12-15 9900, 1430-1530 15285, 1505-1530 9905, 23-24 5875 -- but as I have noted, the last one starts later, maybe 2330. As for my remarx about DRM schedules on KiwiSDR players, Chris Mackerell, NZ replies: Hi Glenn, "They" in this case is myself as the maintainer of the database that serves the schedules such as https://www.drmrx.org/drm-broadcasts-bargraph-display/ and that feed into the KiwiSDR network. "They" get their information from reports on various mailing lists, in forums such as drmrx.org and "DRM Heard" KiwiSDR forum, and HFCC, plus my own monitoring. I have them in the database as TDF since that is what shows in the ID tag. These TDF DRMcast tests have been heard on & off for several months and I assume they are just transmitter tests, as with the sporadic appearances by CNR on various odd frequencies, but I've had no response from TDF or RFI. 73 Chris`` Mackerell (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2069) ** U S A. 257-MCW kHz, Jan 14 at 0712 UT, ND beacon JYR, which is 25 watts from eclipse-land, York, Nebraska.
