Glenn Hauser logs January 24-25, 2021  View Printable Version
Monday, January 25 2021

Logs
** BRAZIL. 11905-11910-11915, Jan 25 at 0445, checking RNA DRM into
TWR Bonaire SDR: ``Madrugada Nacional 96.1`` ID and romantic music,
partly in English, ``Kiss Me, Baby`` at 0454. Frequent ID breaks
between tunes. SN 16.7 dB, 12.46 kbps with ``perfect`` reception tho
fi not so hi; also with Service 2 Journaline one-line headline
rotation mostly concerning COVID; but no mentions of Bolsonaro (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13841 approx., Jan 25 around 1500 --- my logpen failed to ink
at first --- F# tone signature of RHC spurblob, too close to the BS on
13845-AM WWCR; then finding lots of others, back to ``normal`` pattern
of circa plus/minus 69 kHz multiples from 13700-AM: 13769 S8, 13631,
13562, 13494 S4 vs CODAR, 13426 trace; 13908, 13976; and 14045 F#
trace. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Jan 25 at 0006, VP S3-S4 of dense low
music. Mushy reduced carrier? These logs say it`s Mushroom Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,77218.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2070 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
January 24 from 2300:05 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.934, S8-S9; ending at
2329:05 barely not cut off. Stood by earlier to hear carrier with WBCQ
IS & ID loop cut on at *2256:08, no ID or s/on but a bit of music from
2259:45 before WOR start.

Also confirmed UT Monday January 25 at 0043 the 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG
S9+30/40 direct.

Also confirmed UT Monday January 25 at 0230 on WRMIs: 7780, S9+5/15
via UTwente; 5800, S9+10/25 via Bonaire SDR; and WRN web/satcast

Also confirmed Monday January 25 from 1900:49 on IRRS 7290 via
Bulgaria, via UTwente SDR usual bilateral splasheral from 7280 Vietnam
and 7295 East Turkistan, standard denunciation, inevitable but WOR
still readable if you upput. 29 minutes later ending with pause rather
than upcut before ID and more FSN. For timings this time also via
UTwente, as Alan Gale suggested, I compare with MSF on 60 kHz and
DCF77 on 77.5, with a clearer minute-marker on the former, hardly any
internet delay compared to WWV direct. Next:

1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZUELA. 6200+RCUSB, Jan 25 at 0433 tune-in via Bonaire KiwiSDR,
immediate ID as ``ROCV en 6200 kHz``, back to tropical music. SAM mode
shows carrier frequency slightly fluxuating plus 4-6 Hz, S5-S7 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs January 24, 2021  View Printable Version
Sunday, January 24 2021

Logs
** CHINA. 13530, Jan 24 at 1458, JBA fluttery carrier until 1500*, no
doubt CNR1 jammer against SOH starting to repropagate; but none heard
just above or below 13000 yet; however, a weak open carrier at 13001
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13766 approx., Jan 24 at 1453, RHC with Marta Rios about
propagation, so `En Contacto` reading Arnie script must be running
late beyond 1450`s `En Compañía del Doctor`. Anyhow, 13700-AM is
putting out lots of spurblobs but not in the usual pattern. For a
change there are no F# tones with them! Rather low-pitched hums, best
audible in FM mode, not AM. They are quite diffuse and harder than
usual to guess a center frequency. First one is +66 kHz, paired with
-63 kHz circa 13637, but there are others at mid-intervals: 13668 with
no mod, 13605 vs residual jamming, 13576; 13729, 13795, 13828, 13887,
13949. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA SOUTH. 1566, Jan 24 at 1342, awake just in time to check on
the longwire, JBA carrier surely from FEBC, and at 1344
near-imagination-level 3+1 timepips as definitely heard before when
their antenna is switching from N Korea to China heading. Of course I
could easily confirm this via remotes, if I were ever up and running
computer by now. The winter window for direct reception is steadily
closing, as our sunrise earlies, 1338 today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TIBET [non]. 12125, Jan 24 at 1544, JBA tonal talk at S9; strixe me
as an unusual frequency, but now Aoki-scheduled this hour only as CNR1
jammer and/or RFA Tibetan via TINIAN, NMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4724-USB, Jan 24 at 0730, US military crypto message with
always self-imposed heavy reverb/echo; also with continuous
whine/siren noise, pitch varying very slightly; message header
repeated several times fonetikaly: VOFJ3G; brief ``stand by``s and
transmission breaks. Usually IDs as ``Andrews``, I think, but not
positive I heard that this time. Or is it a different tactical ID each
time? See a previous report:

``4724-USB // 8992-USB, Feb 9 at 0041, US military crypto
alfanumeric fonetik string with usual reverb and clix between
characters. EiBi calls these ``US Air Force Messages``, on six
frequencies all available 24 hours, the others being 6739, 11175,
13200 and 15016. But where are they, really? And are they significant
or mere exercise? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2070 monitoring: Larry Will posted
to WOR iog at 0600 UT Jan 24: ``1/24, 0555, 6160am. World of Radio
2070, impromptu broadcast, s15/s20, very good here in Maryland.``

Tnx; yes, on WBCQ A51 webcast, but unheard on KB0FX SDR in MO, nor on
Alexandria VA SDR close to Larry --- JBA carrier of something at best
by the time I check it at 0609 midpoint of WOR; maybe not on air by
then? Next:

2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5750, Jan 24 at 0735, JBA carrier: best guess: a rare
leapfrog mixing product of WRMI 5950 over 5850 another 100 kHz beyond,
both with Brother HyStairical (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glelnn Hauser logs January 23-24, 2021  View Printable Version
Sunday, January 24 2021

Logs
** ALBANIA [non]. 7780, Sat Jan 23 until 2300, R. Tirana theme via
WRMI closing 2230 relay; and then immediately on 5850, R. Tirana theme
opening 2300 relay after mixture with WRMI Spanish ID (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11850, Jan 23 at 2313, RHC S9/+25 but quite undermodulated.
With that much S, usual parasitic spurs should be detectable as JBA
carriers on 11840 & 11860, but they are not. 11850 transmitter finally
fixed, or swapped to another one? Something`s always wrong at RHC.
Checking whether on 11805 instead, per this earlier report:

`11805. RHC. Enero 20. 0122-0128 UTC. Durante el momento escuchado se
habla del Coronavirus en Cuba. 55555. Se nota que es el transmisor de
la frecuencia de 11850 por la potencia. ¿Cambio de frecuencia para
evitar otras interferencias de emisoras chinas? (Claudio Galaz,
Receptor: TIVDIO V-111; Antena: Hilo largo de 50 metros, Lugar de
escucha: Barraza Bajo, IV Región, Chile)`` --- I guess that was a
keypad punchup error (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5040, Jan 24 at 0145, this RHC is off; but back on in Spanish
at 0213 check. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** GUAM. 15215, Jan 23 at 2317, VP talk S3-S5, as KSDA scheduled this
hour in Chinese; slightly stronger 15330 would be KSDA in Vietnamese
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KUWAIT. Re my report of 1548 kHz, Radio Sawa, and tonight`s JBA
carrier search: In connexion with the shakeups at USAGM stations, this
story
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/22/biden-victoria-coates-anonymous-461532
mentions ``The relaunch of Radio Sawa Wednesday night was followed by
an outage Thursday morning when the network went off the air.`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-USB, Jan 23 at 2305, pirate with torch song,
S9+5/20, then rapid Latin instrumental tune; 2324 recheck is off.
Several logs here as Goat Cheese Radio, by Zeke(y):
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,77144.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4055-USB, Jan 24 at 0148 rock music at S9+10, 0152
Wolverine Radio ID and another tune. First time I`ve heard it on 74m;
0214 recheck in SSTV beepery, pulse rate 144/min = 2.4 per second,
like the other one, and off. But during last part of SSTV and
continuing, also hearing some much weaker JBA talk and music also on
4055-USB, when in clear at S6 = the noise level. One HFU reporter,
raypfaff, also noticed: ``Off after that? I can hear something in the
background, but much lower signal than before.`` Another pirate?

Not TGAV; for a split second when first tuned, I had suspected Radio
Verdad was repaired from Guatemala -- but not with rock in English and
no LSB! Use it or lose it; has Dr Madrid given up? Many more logs of
Wolverine:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,77152.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU. 4810, Jan 24 at 0147, JBA carrier, which is the best we can
expect from Radio Chazuta, reported still active, vs the huge STANAG
blob mostly on the plus side. There is also weaker CODAR audible both
on USB and LSB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2070 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
January 23 from 2036 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, VG via local Kiwi
pickup.

Also confirmed Sat Jan 23 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, good/sufficient on
DX-398 portable with whip; some lite jamming audible under by the
end.

Also confirmed Sat Jan 23 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, S3-S5.

Also confirmed UT Sun Jan 24 from 0424 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, The Gateway
160 Radio Newsletter, VG via KB0FX SDR nearby. Next:

2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (6159.93v), Jan 24 at 0302-0401, via A51 WBCQ webcast,
`Texas Radio Shortwave` special, good rock music and the synthetic DJ
voice of Cap`n Ric himself with patrician/Britishish accent, hardly
piratical. Didn`t get any notes as at same time I have to listen to
`Weekend Ra-dio` on WCLV webcast during same hour, and multitaskingly
compile this report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Jan 24 at 0144, WTWW-2 with `TOUTA` underway,
but thorgan music with usual distortion on SW and the computer not
handy for hifi $ tereo webcast, so dispensed with this week (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Jan 24 at
0157-0204: 531, 576, 585, 612, 621, 639, 657(2), 684, 693, 711, 747,
