GLENN HAUSER LOG ROUNDUP MAY 20-26, 2021
Please note and spread the word - for those not on a list where my almost-daily all-band but mainly SW log reports appear -- or for those who are but find this a more convenient archive, weekly merged roundups of all these reports in their original form are posted early every UT Thursday via: http://www.worldofradio.com/Hauserlogs.html The latest one direct: https://www.w4uvh.net/ghlogs_2021_0520_0526.txt ** CUBA. 13676 & 13804 approx., May 27 at 0326, FM spurblobs with really loud tone between F and F# above Cmiddle; out of RHC 13740-AM S9+20/30 during music. Also much weaker multiples of ~64 kHz further out: 13867 vs RTTY 13870; 13932, 13995; 13614, 13550, 13486; 13423 vs CODAR. Unusual to hear this late, but fundamental signal is holding up very strong. 13562, 13630 S4-S5; 13769, 13837 traces at ~69 kHz intervals out of same transmitter when it`s fundamentally on 13700-AM in the morning, 1404 UT May 27. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2088) ** THAILAND. Wolfgang Bueschel, May 27, also reports VOA Korean slightly off-frequency within 1 Hz of my measurement: ``12045.004 kHz at 1334 UT, Udorn Thani Ban Dung VoA Korean at 13-15 UT. 73 wb df5sx`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, May 27 at 2317, poor undermodulated S9/+10 signal, presumably VOT with another bonus German hour or fraxion, tnx to the sleepyrators at Emirler where something is always erroneous (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Re references about ham beacons, not just 10m, Alan Gale, UK, replies: Hi Glenn, This file is very helpful, it lists most of the other HF Bands with beacons. There are a few more that aren't listed, but it's fairly accurate: <http://rsgb.org/main/files/2020/06/G3USFs-Worldwide-List-of-HF-Beacons.pdf> Alan`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2087 monitoring: confirmed UT Thu May 27 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9+10/20 here vs S9+10 high storm noise level. Either way, it`s a loss. 15520 off the back to ME is JBA here at first while UTw gets S9 with hyper announcer, got to be a stupid ballgame. Tough luck, fans of regular shows like `Españoles en la Mar` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
The only 11940 kHz REE outlet noted on 24.00 at May 26 / 27, but nothing on 17855 kHz, OFF air here from Noblejas-Spain.

** CANADA. 332-MCW kHz, May 26 at 0618 UT, dash and YFM, 2500-watt NDB at La Grand 4, Québec, atop my nearby 400-watt IC Wichita KS, and nothing from the usual dominator, 1000-watt QT in Thunder Bay, Ontario. LG-4 is a Hydro dam a kilomile north of Montréal, fishing/outfitter destination.
Does that look familiar? I`ve copied my last log of it from Dec 30 at 0731 UT, just changing the date and time, as I would say exactly the same things about it now. WG, 248 kHz, WinnipeG is also audible now, the only other Canadian. Coördinates for LG4 aerodrome with a gravel runway: 53°45′17″N / 073°40′31″W = N53°45.28' / W73°40.52' (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 28193.1-CW, May 26 at 1840, 17 dits and: VVV DE VE4ARM/B AMATEUR -- and the rest of the loop uncopied, again today the beacon at Austin, Manitoba, not only the OBOB but OSOB, by sporadic E. Also on my other radio at 2043, JBA on the inside ceiling N/S random wire, not on the inside E/W amplified loop. 1510 km = 938 statute miles (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 12820, May 26 at 1439, S4-S5 Chinese, CNR1 jammer against Sound of Hope. Again the only one audible within +/- 250 kHz of 13000 and 11000. If I ever get around to surveying before 1400 there may be more (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, May 26 at 1500 UT, After two weeks of black and silence, K17JN-D Enid is now totally off the air - no signal bar on the STB. Recheck at 2150, now it`s back to nominal with all five 3ABN channels (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, May 26 at 2038, no signal here, nor at 2112 via UTwente from REE NAm frequency; probably off tho K-index is 5. Either way, it`s a loss. 15520 off the back to ME is JBA here at first while UTw gets S9 with hyper announcer, got to be a stupid ballgame. Tough luck, fans of regular shows like `Españoles en la Mar` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** THAILAND. 12044.977, May 26 at 1431, VOA Korean has an LAH = low audible heterodyne, but main signal zero-beats about here, while match-het measuring shows 12045.005 or so. I suppose being jammed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Answering my question, are there any beacons on the 18, 21, 24 MHz ham bands? Yes, a few, but mostly historical: HF Beacons IARU Region 2 (qsl.net) https://www.qsl.net/wj5o/HF%20Bcns.htm And I suppose GP stand for ground plane. The 10m list contains a great deal of old info too just in case they come back? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2087 monitoring: confirmed Wed May 26 at 1035 when I happen to awaken, the 1030 on WRMI 5850, not only on the air but modulating me. NOT confirmed Wed May 26 at 2100:21 on WBCQ 7490v: NOT on the air, nor is wacko Flat Earth Radio on 9330; local storm? Yes! Much like previously, a little storm on Blitzortung right over Monticello into NB; no recent strixe but must be off air as precaution. OR: does the SuperStation attract storms?!?! Confirmed simultaneous 2100 Wed May 26 on WRMI 7780, JBA carrier direct, but S9+5 into Washington DC>MD SDR, and also some storm crashes there. JBA S6-S7 into UTwente. Propagation is also degraded. WWV reported at 2100: ``Solar-terrestrial indices for 26 May follow. Solar flux 88 and estimated planetary A-index 19. The estimated planetary K-index at 2100 UTC on 26 May was 5. Space weather for the past 24 hours has been minor. Geomagnetic storms reaching the G1 level occurred. Space weather for the next 24 hours is predicted to be moderate. Geomagnetic storms reaching the G2 level are likely.`` Also confirmed Wed May 26 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10 into Bonaire SDR, no jamming audible. Next, and last airing of 2087: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to William Hassig, Mt Prospect IL, for a check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, ``in observance of my second Moderna COVID-19 shot on Mon 3 May 2021`` --- that`s a good idea! One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com [not necessarily in US funds]. WOR 2088 should be ready for first airings by 0130 UT Friday May 28 on WRMIs 5850 & 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15555-USB, May 26 at 2036, gospel huxter detectable at S2. WJHR Milton FL last heard here Feb 16 during a rare winter HF sporadic E opening, despite at least daily daytime bandscans across the frequency. Now there is plenty of Esporadic, and I still doubt that it`s really low power on the air every day (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, May 26 at 0615, again no signal for 3 x 3945 Radio Vanuatu, tho 11725 NZ is back to good level. Ron Howard confirms RV is still off: ``Hi Glenn, May 26 - Again no trace of a Radio Vanuatu signal on any of their usual frequencies, when checking from 0555 to 0830 UT. Interesting to note that on Wednesday, CNR2 (11835), does in fact cut off after the 0600 time pips and was heard again after 0900. Per my observations, it seems that Wednesday is the only day they have this abbreviated schedule. When Radio Vanuatu is broadcasting again, clearly Wednesday would be the best day to check for their third harmonic. Ron, California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2336 UT May 26 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
