Glenn Hauser logs July 16, 2024 |
|
Wednesday, July 17 2024
** ALGERIA. 17600, July 16 at 0630, Ifrikya FM in French, S7/S9 direct and the SSOB besides several JBA carriers with Doppler flutter, but not on this. If anyone catch them in English again, let us know, but probably on no reliable schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. RF 7, KOCO ``5`` OKC, celebrates its 70th anniversary, from July 15, 1954, originally KGEO analog A5 in Enid, owned by a guy named GEOrge. Many items about Enid on their newscasts of July 15, 2024, audiovideos of 2 minutes more or less: https://www.koco.com/article/koco-5-celebrates-70th-anniversary-on-the-road-enid/61587260 https://www.koco.com/article/enid-oklahoma-murals/61601844 https://www.koco.com/article/oklahoma-enid-symphony-orchestra-still-plays/61598286 https://www.koco.com/article/enid-railroad-museum-of-oklahoma/61598419 https://www.koco.com/article/oklahoma-leonardos-childrens-museum-enid-on-the-road/61602622 https://www.koco.com/article/oklahoma-enid-mayor-infrastructure-investment-water-david-mason-on-the-road/61602767 https://www.koco.com/article/koco-5-on-the-road-tour-enid/61608699 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** TURKEY. Re my July 5 report, Alan Roe replies on the WOR iog at 1911 July 16: ``Hi Glenn, Bill, I have just checked, and confirm that the play link for "TRT VOT World" is currently (since 1830 today) live streaming the English 1830 UT broadcast. You can get there by via https://www.trtdinle.com/radyolar then scroll down to VOT Radyolari and click on TRT VOT World. Alternatively use https://www.trtdinle.com/channel/trt-vot-world-7547 and select TRT VOT World. Based on past experience, these links should work for all broadcasts except 1630 UT (1730 in winter) which is heard via the TRT VOT East link at https://www.trtdinle.com/channel/trt-vot-east I'll update the WOR Hitlist in a few days. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, July 16 at 2158, no signal direct from VOT English, but cut on a few sex late after 2200 s/on, unusable at S9 = noise level, considerably weaker than Romania 11800. 2233 into UTwente when measured, S9+40/50 in music. 2237 ``always-by-your-side`` promo, and `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` = Van, city of breakfasts, music. Did not refer us to these: https://www.dailysabah.com/life/food/expat-briefer-why-a-van-breakfast-is-special https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/van-turkey-world-capital-of-breakfasts/index.html 2244 ``a-b-y-s` again, multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2247 music. 2253 s/off version ignoring SW. 2254 IS. 2256 restart IS with German IDs. Chopoff at 2259.8* just in time to avoid extra German. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15120, July 16 at 2205, SSOB at S9+20/40 - but it`s dead air, obviously VOA failing again to turn itself off after M-F 2130-2200 Bambara; something`s gone wrong at Grimesland (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2251 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday July 16 at 0340 the 0330 on WRMI 7780, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR. Confirmed Tuesday July 16 a 1315 the 1300 on WRMI 9955, JBA direct: but, no signal rechecked at 1325! I try other WRMI frequencies: nothing on 15770, 9395, 7780, 7730, 7570, so power failure at Okee? JBA on 9455 but that could be TAIWAN. I`m concerned because WRMI was also missing from 9955 the past two Tuesdays when checking for WOR before 1330. Jeff did not reply to my inquiry about being off the air on Tuesdays. However, there is another explanation this week!: ``Space Weather Message Code: SUMX01 Serial Number: 165 Issue Time: 2024 Jul 16 1346 UTC SUMMARY: X-ray Event exceeded X1 Begin Time: 2024 Jul 16 1311 UTC Maximum Time: 2024 Jul 16 1326 UTC End Time: 2024 Jul 16 1336 UTC X-ray Class: X1.9 Location: S05W85 NOAA Scale: R3 - Strong NOAA Space Weather Scale descriptions can be found at www.swpc.noaa.gov/noaa-scales-explanation Potential Impacts: Area of impact consists of large portions of the sunlit side of Earth, strongest at the sub-solar point. Radio - Wide area blackout of HF (high frequency) radio communication for about an hour.`` Or, as spaceweather.com put it via Mike Terry: ``Departing sunspot AR3638 exploded today (July 16th @ 1326 UT), producing an X1.9-class solar flare. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash. Radiation from the flare caused a deep shortwave radio blackout over the Atlantic Ocean. Transatlantic mariners and ham radio operators may have noticed loss of signal at all frequencies below 30 MHz for as much as an hour after the flare.`` What about SWLs?! It seems unlikely such an event would recur on a `schedule` at exactly same time three weeks running. At 1327, WWCR was JBA on 15825. By 1430, 9955 was again a JBA carrier. WOR 2251 also confirmed Tuesday July 16 at 2000 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.994 kHz, S9+5 into UTwente; preceded by Wavescan, Jeff White reading in Spanish publicity about the upcoming Mexi-DX meeting in coördination with R. Educación. Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160. As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks this week for a generous contribution from William T Hassig, Mt Prospect IL, by check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, July 16 at 0635, WRMI in Spanish at S9+20/25 bothering 9960 VANUATU. So it`s again the unscheduled RFI relay (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15150, July 16 at 0637, DEJOM at S9+15/20, 0638 WMLK ID, so this broadcast reactivated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 9960, July 16 at 0634, YL in Bislama, presumably the PSA spots on R. Vanuatu, S7/S8 with ACI from WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1649.58 & 1650.42, July 16 at 0628, ~420 Hz tone not from Iowa, again. Is anyone else hearing this? Should not be hard to pinpoint. Maybe so only after a local midnight. Could be plugged into wrong satellite feed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 13828-13850 approx., July 16 at 2248, OTH radar clickery, peaking at S9, and still audible under PMS on 13845 WWCR S9+10/20 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 2315 UT July 16 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Tuesday, July 16 2024
** COLOMBIA. 6016.84, July 15 at 0211, JBA carrier, presumably this as reported a few nights ago: ``COLOMBIA, 6017, Organización Radial El Prado, 0353-0357*, 09-07, after many months without hearing it, today on air with Colombian song and closing transmission with the national anthem of Colombia. 15422. Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, Log in Reinante, NW of Spain, Sangean ATS 909X, Tecsun PL-880, cable antenna, 8 meters``. And he reports it again just now: ``6016.9, Organización Radial El Prado, 0128-0137, 15-07, Spanish, comments, Latin American songs. 15421.`` Two sesquiyears ago it was reported on 6016.4 and 6016.7. Wethinx this be a pirate; not in WRTH 2024 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 9700, UT Monday July 15 at 0219, RHC English propaganda, VG S9+30 here and nowhere else, not even 6000. A bit of studio reverb and YL accent impaired comprehension. At 0234, Elena Valverde with ``Caribbean Outlook Show`` about H. Beryl damage to several Windward islands [or it seems that Windward & Leeward have fallen out of fashion; unofficial anyway]. The Other Side: ``Where are you going, Cuba? --- Fidel Castro lost the country. Today, Castroism is just struggling to stay in power, at any cost. Jorge A. Sanguinetty, Miami 09 Jul 2024 - 21:26 CEST Cuban emigrants on a raft. Getty Images Pursuing his cardinal goal of perpetuating himself in power, in 1959 Fidel Castro planted the seeds of a crisis that today seems to be finally winding to an end. The bearded commander rose to power on a scaffolding of unaccountable government so that he could implement his personal agenda, breaking his promise to restore the 1940 Constitution and hold democratic elections, as it was always his aim —privately confessed to his most trusted confidante, Celia Sánchez— to foment perpetual confrontation with the United States, perhaps because he felt despised by how Washington treated him, perhaps because it was the only enemy as enormous as his ego...`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1720553193_55911.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5955, July 15 at 0607, not wideband noise with hum centered here, unlike the usual pulse-jamming sound against no R. República (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, July 15 at 1455, RHC at S6/S8 of dead air, some hum, not sure if JBM. Not found anywhere else, 15140 missing as usual. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, July 15 at 1915, NO signal from RHC`s first English broadcast of the day - make that zeroeth, as usual. Something`s always wrong at RHC. However, it can happen: Ron Trotto, IL, had it on July 12; and Rick Barton, AZ, on July 6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, July 16 at 0137, S9/+20 of dead air in Spanish from RHC. Nothing at all on possible English frequencies, 11950, 9700, 6000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 4765, July 16 at 0151, no signal from R. Progreso; but 5025 R. Rebelde is on at S9+20/30 somewhat distorted. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6955 USB, July 15 at 0201, pirate music at S7/S8, interrupted for announcement at 0202, ``go to wix.com [??], single life portal [?] platform``, back to music. Filed here as WIND tho no one seems to quote an ID by those letters: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,131537.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6938.0 AM, July 15 at 0203, JBM talk at S7. Probably a pirate, but nothing in HFU recently on this frequency/mode (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Mon July 15 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG direct and also audible on 17715, 15520, 15390. Preview topic to be about the province of León pushing for autonomy from Castilian domination (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sunday July 14 at 2201, not off the air, VOT English underway, olds by Ms Badax, S9+40 into UTwente. 2209 `Weekly Analysis` on the NATO/Washington summit. 2213 music. 2218 `Letterbox` intro but plays a tune first before host speaks at 2224. Opens mail for first time, almost all QSL requests, some with standard wording, from: Japan where it`s rainy season. Handwritten from Spain, can`t make out name. Miss Mei Lin in Szechuan, China says she wrote 8 letters last year and 4 so far this year without any replies: host thinx it`s because altho wrote in English, address is in Chinese only, which the QSL dept. can`t handle. Another from Spain, ditto. A. Klepov, Moscow, a regular. Another from Russia. Andrei Kuznetsov, a Russian name in Riga, ``Letonia``. ``Eugene`` K. in Russia. Craig Tyson, Perth, Australia, two in a row. Jayanta Chakroborty, India. Says QSLs in postal mail should arrive with stamps [rather than metered?]. Two more from Tyson = four reports for four days in a row. 2240 time`s up, ``goodbye, my lovely dear listeners``, music fill again until 2240 `L`box` intro/outro plays again, then music outside it. 2250 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2252 Ms Badax s/off as if the 1230 on 17620, IS until chop at 2254.8* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.019, Mon July 15 at 2205, VOT English not off the air, but unreadable direct at only S9 level equal to noise. 2225 into UTwente when measured, S9+35/45, `The Energy Agenda` repeat about effects of Russian/Ukrainian war. 2231 Ms Badax with `That`s Why`, black is not a color. 2235 music. 2239 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2241 music. 2253 Badax s/off as 1230 on 17620. 2254.7 IS main theme only twice before chop by 2255* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 7260 AM, July 16 at 0147 snippet of music recognizable as one of the themes duriing VOT English. This is Spanish as sked; also an LSB ham right on frequency for free BFO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7630.5 USB, July 16 at 0141, military net with quick 2-way voice contacts, callsigns abbreviated but unreadable; pauses for ``test messages`` in digihash. Searching frequency in UDXF iog gets a few hits as USAF MARS no more recently than 2014y; nothing on exact frequency in 2022y Klingenfuß (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2251 monitoring: confirmed Sunday July 14 at 2000 on WRN Europe webcast. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9955, July 15 at 0604, WRMI is off again instead of persistent late extension, leaving 9960 VANUATU alone but JBA. 9955 is still on past 1500 July 15, S4/S6 like noise level, cannot discern if modulated. 5010 was also off at 0604, as it would usually match 9955 late activity (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15150, July 15 at 0600, still no signal from WMLK, which should have started at 0400 on a non-Sabbathday. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9395, July 14 at 0650, WRMI-6 in German, mentions tofu, and apparently a recipe recited; not // 9455, WRMI-5 with TOMBS. Surely the German is Supreme Master TV cult, unpredictably multi-lingual. But skedgrid claims during this hour it`s on both frequencies. SMTV is System J, but there is no separate ``J`` program schedule below, skipping from H to K (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1649.585 & 1650.415 approx., July 14 at 0640, double het against 1650 stations, i.e. a tone of about 415 Hz transmitted instead of something off-frequency. There are only six US stations on 1650, two Canadians, and zero Mexicans. Normally dominant are KCNZ IA or KBJD CO, and despite proximity, hardly KFSW AR > really in OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. RF 19, July 14 at 1525 UT, STB gets BAD signal here, which means it`s not KAUT OKC in ATSC 3.0, invisible but normally blocking anything else, antenna still aimed at OKC. Tropo is up to the north, so presumably 1000 kW KWCH Hutchinson/Wichita KS which is not 3.0, for the first time. Also BAD signals on RF 8 & 10 correlating with Hutch/Wich market (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1947 UT July 14 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
