CFAJ 1220 St. Catharines, Ont Logged in ALASKA!  View Printable Version
Sunday, February 14 2021

Logs
Yeah, I know what you're probably thinking...impossible! I wouldn't have
believed it had I not heard it with my own two ears and even though I did,
I still have a hard time believing it.

On Thursday February 11, I had a fairly decent signal of classical music
which is none other than CJRB Boissevan, Manitoba. I had some spanish
language stuff bubble up which I assumed to be XEB Mexico City with was
further fueled by some fairly LOUD classic hits music I heard a minute or
two later.. Mexican news/talk/sports stations are known to play music at
night.

Boy was I surprised AND FLOORED when I heard the station ID. At 1026pm AK
Time "Stoney End" by Barbara Streisand faded up very nicely and overtook
the channel.. 45 seconds in classical music began to take over but if you
listen at about 1 minute 12 seconds, you'll hear "Another hour of great
music on 1220 CFAJ Saint Catharines, Niagra"

Here's the audio of it:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/184w9AlgT4NvJu7NDRNJd3HIem-bY2dcL/view?usp=sharing

What makes this VERY interesting is .. what was CFAJ operating with? They
had been testing with 1000 Watts non directional but Scott Fyb ush surmises
they are on their 10kw 9 tower night pattern by now.

Directly from the relevant Canadian databases, here's the 10kw 9 tower CFAJ
night pattern:

Glenn Hauser logs February 13-14, 2021  View Printable Version
Sunday, February 14 2021

Logs
** CUBA. 5040, Feb 14 at 0703, RHC still on here in Spanish plugging
Dia Mundial de la Radio, a Big Deal at RHC, despite 06-07 hour
supposed to be in English; was it? By now, 6000, 6060 and 9700 are
off, while 6100 runs open carrier, and still S9+20 at 0712.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13700, Sunday Feb 14 at 1446, no DX program `En Contacto`
with or without Arnie, but discussion of Venezuelan/Cuban contact in
cooperation about Covid-19 as 14 de febrero is some kind of special
day celebrating that. 13700 is JBA while // 13740 is *much* stronger;
after 1500, 13700 has bettered while 13740 is off. No spurs detected.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4020-USB, Feb 14 at 0023, talkative pirate DJ
inviting requests, mentions a YT video, next song to be `Never Say
Never` on Radio Free What-ever. Numerous other logs here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,78025.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 395-MCW kHz, Feb 14 at 1438, the two 25-watt Kansans are
mixing, CA at Newton - Harvs, and ULS at Ulysses, slightly different
pitches (Glenn Hauser, oK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2073 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
February 13 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, VG S9+25 via KB0FX remote in MO,
opposite direxion from beam; slight jamming audible at fades and
gradually increasing by 2300 but no big problem. Preceding 2230: Bob
Zanotti ID, and Bob Biermann starts to say ``Remembering the 60`s``
--- about music rather than me.

Also confirmed Sat Feb 13 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, VG into Maine SDR,
S9+10/20. But I`m mainly listening to `Encore` on 7570.

Also confirmed UT Sun Feb 14 at 0422, on WA0RCR, 1860-AM S9+15 into
nearby KB0FX SDR, well in progress, probably starting before 0415.

Glenn Hauser logs February 13, 2021  View Printable Version
Saturday, February 13 2021

Logs
** CUBA. 6060, Feb 13 at 0546, this RHC is back on but Spanish instead
of English, SS also on // 6100, 5040; while English is only on 6000 //
9700. Maybe English got more after 0600? retiring ``early`` tonight.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 13700, Feb 13 at 1548, RHC is incredibly JBA with a
SAH no doubt Brother Scare Bulgaria. Tuning down the band, figured
13700 would be off since there were no spurs. Meanwhile, // music on
11760 is S9+20 but distorted. Soon mentions this being Dia Mundial de
la Radio as declared by UNESCO. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

Recheck at 1557, now the extremely distorted FMish spurblobs with F#
tone are back, as fundamental 13700-AM has charged up to full power:
approx. 13560, 13630, 13770 S8-S9, 13840, 13910-trace, i.e. ~70 kHz
intervals. Something`s always wrong at RHC; 1558 IS and all go off by
1600* uncovering a JBA carrier on 13700, i.e. per Aoki/NDXC,
Kostinbrod, Bulgaria, still BSing supposedly until 1800 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** ERITREA [non]. 17545.06V, Sat Feb 13 at 1557, JBA Bayto Yaikl on
one of two weekly RMI-brokered emissions via FRANCE at 1530-1600 Wed &
Sat. As always, this defective Issoudun transmitter is
cycling/wobbling up and down in frequency, as I try to measure it,
roughly 17545.055 to 17545.065 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2073 monitoring: missed checked Sat
1300 on WRMI 15770; and 2030v on WA0RCR 1860 AM. Did anyone hear them?
Next:

2230 UT Saturday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE
0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500]
2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE

2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15825, Feb 13 at 2142, no signal from WWCR-1, not even the
usual JBA carrier within the normal skip zone at 1 megameter at 15-16
MHz. 6115, also no signal for WWCR-1 on its next frequency from 2200.
Ivo Ivanov also noted no signal earlier today at 0645 on 3215, the
WWCR-1 frequency at 02-12 UT. This is the same transmitter which for
months, yea years, has been squealing, ``I`m sick! Please help me``.
John Jurasek, the VORW, soon noted at 0713, also to the WOR iog:

``It looks like there may be some technical problems - this is now
posted on their website: "WWCR expects to experience problems with
operation on 3.215 MHz for several days. Parts cannot be ordered to
fix the problem quickly, due to a temporary closure with a parts
vendor." All the best, John J. (Florida)``

Looking at the WWCR-1 program schedule, this means that John`s
``VROW`` [sic], one of very few non-gospel huxter shows, will not be
heard as scheduled Saturday at 23-24 on 6115. But why does WWCR
website mention 3215 only without the other two daily #1 frequencies?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
