12795 Chinese S8-9; 12820 & 13020 JBAC; 13160 Chinese S5-S6; 13530
Chinese S8-S9; 13920? S4-S6; 16100 & 16300 JBA carriers. None around
11 MHz or in the 14s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

13530 JBA carrier; 12880, Chinese S6-S9; 12500 Chinese S3-S7; 10960
Chinese S1-S5; no others in the 11 MHz area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 13700, June 20 at 1348, JBA carrier rather than RHC
spur-producer; presumably CNR-13 in Uyghur from Lingshi site until
1400. 13740 RHC is on at S9+20 but dead air! Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 11845, June 20 at 1443, pulse jamming against
nothing, long-gone OCB frequency, while it`s inbooming on 11860 atop
any? jamming. Something`s always wrong at the DentroCuban Jamming
Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA [non]. 9890, Sun June 20 at 1900 past 1920, still zero
signal of R. Oninira Yoruba, like on Fri and Sat, supposed to be on at
1900-2300 three days a week. Maybe someone at Woofferton site can
explain what the situation be? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-USB, June 20 at 0056, banana-boat novelty song,
but only S7 vs S9 high noise level. Many more logs here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,83014.0.html
say it`s Skunk House Radio (Zeke) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TAIWAN [and non]. 9475, June 20 at 1438, song at S7-S9, not WTWW;
scheduled is National Unity Radio, in Korean at 1200-1458. WTWW is on
9475 at 1551 check for Sunday SFAW stuff, seldom other DOW. Much
weaker than S9+30/40 TN neighbor 9980 WWCR TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** THAILAND. 12044.966, June 20 at 1435 music, S6-S7, VOA Korean
scheduled 1300-1500; way off-frequency but not far enough to avoid
suffering splash from 12050 WEWN. Unseems // 12080 also VOA Korean
much stronger via Philippines (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2091 monitoring: Bruce Churchill,
CA reports to the WOR iog: ``Unique R. Manilla NSW xmtr 3210 USB hrd
at 1307 UTC tune this morning [Sat] (19 June) using KiwiSDR at VK6QS
in Perth with WOR pgm – fanfare and Unique Radio ID at 1330 and off at
1330:15. eQSL rcvd from Tim Gaynor in 11 hrs for report w/ MP3 audio
and rcvr screen shot. High noise lvl made program copy difficult but
the signal was Fair (SINPO 35343). Bruce``. Ian of shortwavesites says
3210 runs 100-120 watts.

WOR 2091 confirmed UT Sunday June 20 at 0322 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO,
about 3 minutes into, so started circa 0319; this time checked via
W8BUG remore in TN I had up for WRMI 9395: S9+5 with storm crashes.

** U S A. 9395, June 20 at 0200-0259, Texas Radio SW via WRMI,
publicized Juneteenth special of music by Blacks only and not just
Texans. VG S9+10/20 via W8BUG remote in Knoxville-Oak Ridge close to
the azimuth; which shows carrier offset of +33 Hz. Starts with
classical piece, no announcement until 0203 by synth American-accented
voice unlike patrician Cap`n Ric. Obstacle here is reading my hastily
scribbled notes. e-QSL offer, requiring at least 20 minutes of
details. Previewing 3 tunes at a time with title and performers and I
try to copy at least the titles. First batch: Purple Rain, --?--,
Happy Birthday. The last starts at 0215. 0221 next 3: Sun Goddess,
Satin Doll, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. 0232: Love Me or Leave Me,
Troubled Waters. 0254 QSL offer again, to texasradiosw@gmail.com Then
Sunflower Slow Drag by Scott Joplin; finally more of Symphony #1 by
Florence B. Price which started the hour, now only a sesquiminute from
0258 to 0259.5 WRMI ID. Enjoyable selexion of music.

About Juneteenth: its very short notice declaration as an annual
federal holiday left private and public entities scrambling about when
and whether to observe it this year. On June 18th Friday, bank and PO
here were open as normal on a weekday. Next year the real day, June
19, will fall on Sunday and I strongly expect the fed holiday will be
observed on Monday 20 --- after all, MLK Birthday Jan 15 is shunted to
Mondays. Of all holidays, Juneteenth should be most flexible over a
7-day span of teen-days from 13 to 19! And the earlier the better to
space it out between Memorial and Fourth of July. It`s about time we
had a holiday in June (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9940-, June 20 at 0013, unlike last weekends, WTTW-2 is not
on here, nor 5085; nor 5830 for WTWW-1. So no `Theater Organ Under the
Arch`. Much later in evening, noted 5085 on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This used to be called C.A.R.D. for Calling All Radio Nutz. I listened
to part of one of them weeks ago and found it as scatterbrained as her
publicity.

But it`s not on the current Unique R schedule, rather Jen with
another? Show UT Sundays 1600-1800; or is it Mondays? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 6030, CFVP Calgary, Alberta, reactivated: JBA at 1545 June
19 via remotes in Edmonton. ``Best`` but still barely readable, with
laughter, Calgary mentions, via VE6ARS ``southern Alberta`` SDR,
S2-S3, 1550 UT June 19. Tnx to these tips:

David Fogarty: ``It is back on the air as of 7 am [PDT? MDT?]. Two
engineers from Bell Media, Dale and Gerry, who are also hams, VA6AD
and V6QCT respectively, rebuilt the transmitter (partially with ham
radio parts) and repaired the connection to the antenna with a
temporary matching network. I am hearing it somewhat faintly here in
Walla Walla, Washington but hope reception will improve as the day
goes on. The temporary matching network means that not all the 100
watts are going into antenna. Sent from my iPad``

Harold Sellers: ``The engineer working on CFVP 6030 kHz, Calgary
(Funny 1060 simulcast) tells me the station is back on the air as of
9:00 local time. There might be some brief interruptions as they
continue to work. Harold Sellers`` He is also QSL manager.

Radio Martí is currently scheduled on 6030 at 0000-0400(Mon 0500) &
1000-1200; plus heavy Cuban jamming, which extends past 0400/0500,
maybe all night; but CFVP does not consider QSY (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 WOOB jammer survey, June 19 at 1323: 12500 JBA carrier;
12795 Chinese S8-9; 12820 & 13020 JBAC; 13160 Chinese S5-S6; 13130
Chinese S8-S9; 13920? S4-S6; 16100 & 16300 JBA carriers. None around
11 MHz or in the 14s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13680 & 13801 approx., June 19 at 2130, FM Spurblobs with
telltale F# tone, S4-S7, out of 13740-AM S9+20 but undermodulated,
speaker with poetic intonation about Yanqui events. Also traces of
second orders, 2 x 60/61 kHz apart circa 13658, 13801, and maybe 3x =
13862. Something`s always wrong at RHC; compensates for lack of any
this morning out of 13700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KASHMIR [non]. 15170, Sat June 19 at 1500, no signal of Kashmir
Civitas nor any other day following Tuesday test. Seems a strange day
to pick for a weekly broadcast, but maybe that`s it (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, June 19 at 0555, RNZP is back here during this
hour only. I switch to next frequency 7245 and QRX for it to pop on,
which it does at *0559:19, JIP ``Mister Sandman`` song, 0600
timesignal and news, first about a tornado near Auckland. Meanwhile,
Nigeria is not being a neighbour on 7255- (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA [non]. 9890, Sat June 19 at 1904 and 2246 chex, NO signal
from R. Yoruba which per HFCC is supposed to be on at 1900-2300 Fri,
Sat and Sun. It was well-heard last Sunday, but was it only a test?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, June 19 at 2130 UT, 25-watt ND beacon EI at
Woodring Airport, Enid, is S1 but clearly audible now, with one/two
dits every 8 seconds --- so when DXing this you need to pause on 341
for at least 10 seconds - more vs lightning crashes. 255-MCW kHz, SW,
Stillwater, is still AWOL. I can`t hear 332-MCW IC wIChita KS either,
but inconclusive (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, June 19 at 2205, zero signal of VOT English into
UTwente; but heavy splash from 9820 China. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2091 monitoring: confirmed
new/resumed time of UT Saturday June 19 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+15/20
at KB0FX remote closer to the 355 degree angle from Okee than direct
also reading S9+10/20 but noisy. RAE in English from Argentina has
also resumed preceding, fill music to 0130 cut to WOR with no ID
break.

Also confirmed Sat June 19 at 1310 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, S4-S9 but
my altered voice unreadable. (BTW, I am better but not fully healed.)

Also confirmed Sat June 19 at 1600 on WRN webcast to N America.

Also confirmed Sat June 19 circa 1801 on IRRS 7290 Bulgaria, S9+15/20
into UTwente. Open carrier already on at 1750 tune-in, but maybe not
yet up to full power. Also usual warbling on plus side. 1800 brief
IRRS sign-on, pause and WOR before 1801. Both also detectable on 2nd
harmonic 14580. 918 kHz Villa Estense, Italy, supposed to be // but at
1816 check not, rather rock music, and local ID by YL at 1817, ``AM
Italy network, at 918 kHz AM... nice listening``. More music rest of
hour at spotchex, and 1901 similar ID in Italian, ``el primo
network``. I`ve enquired whether WOR is still supposed to be on 918?

WOR 2091 also confirmed Sat June 19 at 1935 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, via
nearby KB0FX SDR, about 2 minutes into so started circa 1933; with
heavy storm crashes --- yes, once again Blitzortung shows a little
storm right over the St Louis area, far from any others. Is the Arch
like a lightning rod? Next:

0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400]
1100 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB

** U S A. 9330, June 19 at 2139, zero signal from WLCR via WBCQ; altho
not beamed thisaway, there ought to be something from 500 kW if really
on the air. 9265 WINB is audible only S3-S5, while 9350 WWCR as usual
blasts in at S9+40 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs June 18-19, 2021  View Printable Version
Saturday, June 19 2021

Logs
** CUBA. 6060, June 18 at 0702, RHC is still on air with big humbuzz
only, no program audio, S9+20/30. 6165 also open carrier at S9+10/20
and only a trace of same pitch hum. But 60% of The Cuban Five are now
off: 6100, 6000, 5040. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA [non]. 9890, Fri June 18 at 2222 check, no signal of R.
Yoruba into UTwente SDR. Ivo Ivanov had posted that they had added
Friday broadcasts to Sat & Sun, via Woofferton. As usual, he does not
give any source, which proved to be wrong. But it`s in the latest
HFCC, which also shows the Sat & Sun reduced by one hour to 19-23* UT
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28298, June 18 at 2014, one sporadic E beacon re-copied,
K5TLL/B: ``28.298 K5TLL C HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI # 25W, VERTICAL New
Freq 14 Dec 08`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2091 monitoring: Richard Lemke, St.
Albert, Alberta, says, ``Dear Glenn: I was surprised and shock to hear
your voice got changed a bit on the recording at 0130, 5850 kHz, on
June 18 UTC I heard a different volume set up on your “Voice”
recording in was different, higher pitch sound, 73’s, Richard``

``Richard, As I said at outset, because of sore throat. Axually, I
think I sounded better, more expression and vocal range than usual,
not higher-pitched; but who am I to judge? Glenn``

But I`d rather do without the persistent sore throat; normal temp.

Rodney Johnson: ``Greetings From Minnesota! Hope you're feeling better
soon, Glenn. (But if you ever thought of singing some bass harmonies
on a motown record, this would be the time to do it!) 73s
http://swldx.tumblr.com --Rodney``

Also confirmed Fri June 18 at 2030 on IRRS via Italia-AM 918 kHz Villa
Estense, via nearby Noale SDR, VG 29+25. Also audible across Europe at
UTwente, but with heavy storm noise over Netherlands, and some CCI
probably Spain. Tuned in earlier at 2023, two guys arguing about
Drumpf and Kamala, one of them named Kyle, until chopped off at 2029.
No idea what partial program that was, as NEXUS-IBA schedule shows
only News and World News at 2000 on web +918. BTW, WOR at 2230 CET is

** U S A. (7489.9v), June 19 at 0000, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW`, WTO
theme with no! interjexions. This week originating at WHVW 950 Hyde
Park NY, with J. P. Ferraro, a three-way lament about the sorry state
of domestic broadcasting, and how WBCQ is trying to preserve SW. But
first, mandatory fiddling with mikes. By 0027 Allan says it`s 18 June
YOOL 2021, on 7490 and 6160 tonight. Says there will be a lot more
World`s Last Chance on Classic WBCQ - in addition to 9330; and also of
Brother Scare; ``desperately trying to purchase WHRI, taking too
long`` due to government delays in approval. WHVW is not online due to
royalty charges which would be $ 3500 per month for a few listeners.
Not even checked the SW frequencies here. John Carver`s version:

Tonight's show started on time on 7490. A check two minutes in of 6160
had no program running there yet. Storm noise on both frequencies and
het on 6160. Allan and Angela in the studio of WHVW with JP. Must be
on their way to Maine. Opening talk about the state and fate of radio
in this country. AM, FM and SW were covered. The consensus was that it
was a combination of deregulation of radio by the FCC, corporate
ownership, computer programming instead of Dee Jays, sameness of sound
coast to coast and relaxing of ownership laws were all reasons for the
state of radio in this country. While talking about how this affects
shortwave, Allan did mention that the sale of WHRI still has not gone
through and is being held up by the government and he has no idea why
or when it will be resolved. Entire show was about radio this time.
Two emails read at the end of the show. Closing prayer at 0059 and off
the air at 0100. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11635, re my jazz log, here`s another like it, maybe
related: ``13705 + UNID + 1520, Jazz music, one part playing
repeatedly like a stuck record. Jazz trio got out of the rut, played
on until 1530 when the whole transmission cut off. Who? – Fair June 17
Rick Barton-AZ``

Nothing listed on 13705 anywhen in EiBi and Aoki; HFCC an imaginary
hour in English from KBS at 22. So a perfect frequency to try
something new (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
