Glenn Hauser logs March 14-15, 2021 |

Monday, March 15 2021
![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) ** BOTSWANA. 6175, Mon Mar 15 at 0346, S9 open carrier, or JBM? I guess it`s VOA scheduled to start Shona to Zimbabwe at 0400 M-F (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15140, 1900 UT March 14, the first day of DST, RHC English confirmed shifted one UT hour earlier, on caradio, starting `The Week in Cuba`. Mod on this one lately rather lo-fi, hummy. Spotchex later in hour did not catch any reactivated DX program tho if brief could have missed it. 11880, next English hour has been at 22-23 UT during standard time but nothing there at 2209 check, nor on previously used 9720, 7380. Habitually this broadcast alone shifts one UT hour *later* during DST which does not make sense, so need to search for it between 23 and 24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. Re my log of XEFRTM Zacatecas on 770, Saul Chernos, Ont., replies: ``Hi Glenn (and Bruce): I've been hearing a very regular W Radio on 770 here at Burnt River ON that is stream matching to XEFRTM Fresnillo. Two MP3 clips are attached. Mostly pop music of last few decades. It comes in often when I aim directionally WSW, which limits WABC somewhat. It also mixes with XEACH which is carrying Formula (also // webstream). I have noted lots of the 690 in Fresnillo lately, again also //webstream with 107.9 in the ID. It's now back listed at www.mwlist.org 73s Saul Chernos`` Wow, two clips with algo way under WABC; matching stream must be only way to ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 341-MCW kHz, March 15 at 0356 UT, Enid`s only ND beacon, EI, is gone again, leaving a trace of OIN or DNI? No particular weather excuse this time; but LW reception is really poor, hardly any DX beacons, e.g. Canada, only 332 QT Thunder Bay. Other OK, 350 RG at WRWA OKC is still there. WWV reported at 0300, K-index of 3 after minor G1 geomagnetic storms. EI still AWOL at daytime 1418 UT check March 15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 418-MCW kHz, March 15 at 0545 UT, ND beacon FQ, 25 watts from Fairmont, Minnesota. I was tuned to 418-USB. 326-MCW kHz, March 15 at 0609 UT, ND beacon MA, 400 watts from Midland, Texas. Under degraded conditions, two of the few audible now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2077 monitoring. On first day of DST, expected change confirmed on Area 51 via WBCQ, 6159.93v, at 2200 instead of 2300, but JBA here, theme recognized at S5-S6 same as noise level; better than expected to MO SDR of KB0FX, S8-S9 with carrier offset varying minus 67 to 70 Hz. As I later informed Larry Will: Sunday night at 0345 UT Monday there was nothing on 7490. Maybe WHRI still after 0430 UT, not checked, but that means WBCQ can put the show now at 03-04 back on 7490 and we can get back 03-04 for Area 51 on 6160. Reception of 6160 at 22 UT Sunday wasn`t too bad, but is bound to decline into the summer. Also, HFCC A21 is now out, showing no WHRI at all on 7490, with 7490 OK for BCQ anytime between 19 and 10 UT. 7490 1200 1500 36-38,46-48,57 WCR 100 85 0 902 1234567 280321 310521 D Eng USA WCR FCC 299 7490 1900 1000 3-5,9-11 BCQ 50 245 0 805 1234567 280321 301021 D Eng USA BCQ FCC 302 Also complete listings for 6160, nothing but BCQ and that German station both 24h, not a problem over here: 6160 0000 2400 27,28 WIS 5 0 0 700 1234567 280321 311021 D 6160 Mul D SWR FNA 91 6160 0000 2400 3-5,9-11 BCQ 50 245 0 805 1234567 280321 301021 D Eng USA BCQ FCC 263 WOR 2077 also confirmed Sunday March 14 at unchanged 2300 on WRMI 7780, S7-S9; tuned in just before 2300 heard ``This is PCJ Radio International``, which I thought was kaput; System H sked shows at 2230 Sunday should be `Wavescan`; maybe it was just a WRMI ID by Keith Perron? Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 15 at unchanged 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 15 at unchanged 0230 on WRMI 5800, good direct and via remote on 7780; also confirmed WRN timing unchanged, despite N American service which does make a DST shift, but not until DST in Europe March 29. A-21 HFCC shows IRRS ``Milano`` again a UT hour earlier at 18-19 on 7290, so what will be the QRM problems? Much like A-20 and B-20. Vietnam still on 7280 thruout to Europe, despite 10 kHz away splashing; 7290 with CNR China Beijing until 1805; Iran Russian supposed to end at 1750. 7285 & 7295 clear this hour; 7300 Iran German until 1820. But first, IRRS staying at same UT this week and next: 1901 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW [ex-2200] 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [ex-2300] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Michael Rutkaus, K4GET, Winchester VA, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily in US funds One may also contribute via MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re 9975, KVOH scheduling changes, Ray Robinson replies: ``Hi, Glenn. The primary target areas for KVOH, at least for our Spanish language programming, are Cuba and Mexico, and both of those countries do observe Daylight Saving. Plus, our FCC authorization for 9975 begins at 0000 UT winter and summer, to protect WWCR transmitter #4 which is on 9980 until that time. We have no option but to keep our start time at the same UT 0000 (one hour later local times), while shifting our program content one UT hour earlier. Ray.`` HFCC shows CIRAF targets for KVOH are 10, 11 and 12, i.e. Mexico; Caribbean & Central America; and NW quarter of South America. Of course, may really intend only fraxions of each, but the 100-degree azimuth from LA, no accident by the original owner, goes right at Habana, thru Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad, skirting the NE coast of South America, pretty far off from Mexico, but I expect 9975 is really pretty broad. Except for border towns, DST in XEland does not start until April 4 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6205, March 15 at 0233, RCOV music is S6-S7 into Bonaire SDR but noisy; as usual a JBA carrier direct at best (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search March 15 from 0405: 531, 576, 585, 612, 621, 639, 684(2), 711, 729, 747(2), 774(2), 855, 882, 891*, 999, 1044, 1089, 1098(2), 1107, 1125, 1215, 1305(2), 1314(2), 1422. *strongest; (2) at least two beating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1710 kHz, March 15 at 0411 UT, at least two JBA signals beating, first noticed at conclusion of JBA MW carrier from Europe search. Some music and talk modulation detectable; 0536 recheck, now JBA alternating M&W talk, unseems a TIS loop, S8-S9 but about same as band noise level; at least hardly any lightning now across North America. Others have been reporting great low-power DX on 1710; such as Hudson County NJ, Bandelier National Monument NM, Travis AFB CA, KHMB Half Moon Bay CA. But I need more antenna gain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1829 UT March 15 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs March 14, 2021 |

![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST update
Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update. https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) Update to UTC offset notations for Cuba and USA following DST changes 2) Spain - REE: Added link to A-21 frequency schedule Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be end of March for further DST changes. Best wishes and 73 (Alan Roe) ** CUBA. As a running dog of Yanqui Imperialism, Cuba normally synchronizes DST shift dates to keep up with the Miami Gusanos, so should now be on UT -4; and despite being an external service, RHC shifts programming one UT hour earlier, as if that were anything but confusing in the rest of Latin America. So `En Contacto` should show up at 1335 UT Sundays --- but not March 14. At 1336 a discussion of COVID statistics, later outro as a live daily news conference by the head epidemiologist, which apparently preëmpt everything. Monitored on S9+10 13740, louder and stronger than S7-S9 13700 with no spurs detectable, also 9650 but distorted. Somethings` always wrong at RHC. I check 13700 again at 1443 in case not DST-shifted, but no E.C. then either. No local timechex caught, but 1455 newscast on 15140 and now 11760 is quite distorted via KC MO SDR; Frequency announcement at 1500 says 11760 & 15140 until 1800, also on the 24h FMs; 1501 starts Esperanto, ex-1600v winter timing, Sundays only. I bet their own schedule announcement be wrong as usual too but unstayed on it, as it`s daylight-shifting time for `Reliable Sources` on CNN; and `Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival` on KUCO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 11725, March 14 at 0704, RNZP, huge S9+10/20 VG signal, introducing original cast recording from 1999y of ``Mamma Mia``. Was going to award it OSOB status until scan of 25m detected JBA carriers on 11835, 11815, 11770-; so merely SSOB. First had found 9700 vacant, still not QSY from 11725; but that has been moved up to *0800. Meanwhile, Ron Howard reports that Vanuatu is now on 3945 as early as 0533 instead of 7260, consequently its harmonix too. 6115, March 14 at 1350, RNZP still VG here with music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Another eQSL received from TRSW, now #116 via http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html with this reply: ``Ahoy Glenn - Here's an eQSL for your post in the WOR group. https://www.w4uvh.net/TRSW_DanaMariaTribute_eQSL_WRMI_Hauser.pdf Cap'n Ric's mulling over your idea of featuring a woodwind orchestra in an upcoming program. He wonders if it could be paired with live readings of his poetry, which would take diversity to a new level. We've heard his poetry and hope he deep-sixes any idea of reading it. We're not so sure about the woodwinds either. TRSW's program committee -- Cap'n Ric -- will make a decision soon. Our programs on WRMI, 5950 kHz, repeat each week until we upload a new one before the beginning of the next month. Occasionally Jeff White adds a TRSW program in a different time slot for variety. Texas Radio Shortwave https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw Sailing into your ears from the Lone Star State`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9975, March 14 at 0702, gospel music only S1-S4, but must be KVOH beyond scheduled 0700* as of Feb 3 sked; suspect they are now moving everything one UT hour earlier to stay at same local time - as if that applied in target Caribbean, South America so would now quit circa 0600v*. I ask Ray Robinson about this, who promptly replies: ``Hi, Glenn. KVOH will now be on 9975 kHz 0000-0600 UT Tue-Sun. Wavescan at 0200 UT Sun, repeated at 0200 UT Tue. And, the updated KVOH sched is now on the website. http://www.voiceofhope.com Voice of Hope - Africa schedule is unchanged (no DST in those parts). Wavescan at 0600 UT Sun on 9680 & 11680 kHz, repeated at 1800 UT Mon on 4965 & 6065 kHz. Ray Robinson, Strategic Communications Group, Voice of Hope World Radio Network`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090-LSB, March 14 at 0653 UT, quick recheck for WENR TN DX test, which I had heard immediately at 0458-0509, no sign of it now, just KAAY; supposed to run until 0700, but quit early? When not DX-testing, WENR format is ``The Little Gospel Giant`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. RF 35, 34, 22, 20, 15, March 14 at 1455 UT, BAD signal bars on these `open` TVDX channels tnx to minor tropo enhancement around here but none strong enough to decode (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1718 UT March 14 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS updated March 14 for DST season http:/www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html
WORLD OF RADIO SCHEDULES updated March 14 for DST season http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html ** CUBA. 11850, March 14 at 0057, RHC is S9+20 but very suptorted; while Spanish on 11760 and 11670 is normally modulated if hummy. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA. 7140 & 7180, March 14 at 0313, JBA carriers a smidgin above each frequency but matching, and the higher one a tiny bit stronger, both vs LSB QRhaM and storm noise: so obviously the Voice of Broad Masses intruder pair (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 4030-AM, March 14 at 0300, JBA carrier vs storm noise - tornados in TX panhandle approaching but better fizzle -- maybe a bit of musical modulation, gone by 0343 recheck. Bet it be a pirate as no ex-kewss for any othersig here. Yup: Ball Smacker Radio per several reports between 0158 and 0336* here: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,79065.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2077 monitoring: confirmed Saturday March 13 starting at 2044.2 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, as heard near-locally by KB0FX KiwiSDR. From next week nominal time will be 1930v UT. Also confirmed Sat Mar 13 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, fair via PL-880 here. >From next week this will be at 2130. Also confirmed Sat Mar 13 at 2300 on WRMI 7780. S4-S5 and noisy via KB0FX MO SDR but presumably better further east. Next: Also confirmed UT Sun Mar 14 at 0418 about 6 minutes into so started early circa 0412, S9+10 at KB0FX remote; at 0400 I had checked 1860 direct when it was S9+20/30 here vs storm crashes. From next week nominal time for this will be 0315 UT. Next, with DST shifts: 2200vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW [ex-2300?] 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE [new] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1901 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW [ex-2200] 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [ex-2300] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Michael Rutkaus, K4GET, Winchester VA, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily in US funds One may also contribute via MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7570, Sat Mar 13 at 2300-2400, Radio Tumbril, Scotland with `Encore` classical music via WRMI. VG via KB0FX KiwiSDR; also repeated after 0100 UT Sun Mar 14 on WRMI 5850. Host Brice Avery says the next WRMI airing, UT Mon on 5950 due to DST will be one hour earlier from March 15, at 02-03 UT instead of 03-04 due to DST. Yes, per the skeds at http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIgrid these Systems make a DST shift: B = 9955; G = 9395 between 5 and 11? pm EST/EDT, joined by 9455 at 8-9 pm; and L = 5950 at 4-12 pm EST/EDT except 6-7 pm on 7570 instead; but the label got it backwards. All the other Systems are supposed to stick to UT. Different frequencies take different System feeds depending on the time. While this may make sense in some way, it would also be very helpful to listeners if there were ALSO full program schedules presented frequency by frequency -- not just the transmission skeds at top of page (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, UT Sun March 14 at 0200, Texas Radio SW via WRMI, as heard VG via KB0FX KiwiSDR in MO: starts with seabirds, a different jazzed-up version of `YROT` theme, Third Mate Sudan introduxion of another TX mx tribute, offers QSL, also Can`n Ric. Some words are skipping as I listen, but does not affect the songs later, by Dana Maria whose real voice speaks from Frankfurt, Germany but originally from Austin. She introduces three songs at a time along with TRSW synthIDs; such as 0223 Trip Down Memory Lane; 0234 Wheelbarrow. Such tunes are not really appealing to me, but I wish her well. Maybe TRSW could eventually diversify. The wind band at University of North Texas, Denton, comes to mind, not strictly classical: https://windstudies.music.unt.edu/recordings They also have some stuff on YouTube that can be searched out. Its own radio station callsign is not what you might expect. As for TRSW on WRMI, their sked grid now shows two airings, as shifted henceforth due to the imposition of DST on 5950 System L: UT Sunday at 01-02 and will stay an hour earlier than `Weekend Radio` on WCLV; and Monday at 20-21 UT --- which is a bit early in the day for 6 MHz band to go very far, 4+ hours before sunset (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (5085), UT Sun Mar 14 at 0116, WTWW-2 webcast avoiding crummy audio on its SW, in stereo, `Theater Organ Under the Arch` caught from the beginning and this time lasting exactly 30 minutes until a Tedad at 0146. Bob Heil presenting more archive recordings including his own but starting with Gene Wright. Annoying just before it started was the WTWW ID mistreating our National Anthem as if it were produxion music with just a few seconds of it. Presumably this will all appear one real UT hour earlier from next week as WTWW is yet another ``international`` SW station succumbing to intranational, irrational DST (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. CBS SUNDAY MORNING, online access seems to change every week. On Sat Mar 13 I`m ready to view the Sun Mar 7 edition via https://www.cbsnews.com/sunday-morning/ but inexplicably the top link is not to March 7, but December 27! It`s 62 minutes so presumably the whole thing, just the wrong week, wrong month, wrong year. However, beneath it are linx to ten individual segments of March 7 which don`t quite add up to 62 minutes: missing are the opener, and the closer, nature segment. Later I do find the latter further down and it`s a hefty 3:23 long featuring baboons. On the broadcast it is always much shorter, obviously used only as a filler to round out the sesquihour as needed. So I have to play each segment individually and put up with 3 or 4 different 15- to 30-second duplicative commercials rotating first; when each segment finishes it always defaults to whatever is on the current CBSN live stream, so have to keep backing up to the SM home page. Enough of this nonsense: back to taping it myself off KWTV at too early 8 am [now 13 UT] Sundays, and going to the web only in an emergency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090, March 14 at 0458 UT tune-in for WENR Englewood TN much publicized 1000-watt ND daytimer DX test, and already hear sweeps upward. Must use LSB to avoid KRLD 1080 IBOC noise circa 1093, but cannot avoid the major occupant of 1090, KAAY Little Rock. I do record it as required for QSL and will eventually get around to sending report, but I will not subject myself to more than 9 minutes of KAAY inevitable gospel huxter. Test will run two hours until 0700. At 0500 solid tone, 1 kHz? Pause maybe unreadable voice ID? Never copied one. 0502 sweeps upward. 0503:45 steady tone. 0504:10 VVV VVV DE WENR - there may have been a bit more in the code ID, thought I copied MER; sweeps up again. 0506 code again, is it faster, and/or higher-pitched? 0507 phone-off-hook pulses JBA; 0508 code again including WENR and sweeps again, tune-out by 0509 UT. On my R75 with 100` E-W longwire. Of course from this angle, no way to null KAAY on the DX-398, almost same direxion. 1210 km = 752 statute miles. Englewood is between Chattanooga and Knoxville. Heavy storms west of here earlier this evening not a problem now for this. Tnx for the test; should be widely heard. This is the same station which was originally going to try a daytime DX test just before sign-off, 2200-2315* UT on Sat Feb 27, but that was canceled; why? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0539 UT March 14 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
