Glenn Hauser logs March 20-21, 2021  View Printable Version
Sunday, March 21 2021

Logs
** EAST TURKISTAN [and non]. 5960, March 21 at 0000, from the land of
ChiCom imperialist genocide against the Uyghurs, XJPBS Urumqi in
Chinese dominates The Mighty KBC, Holland via Germany, as heard via
UTwente SDR, Holland; it used to be off-frequency minus but now is
within subaudible heterodyne - SAH range of Nauen. Until a few minutes
earlier, however, VOTurkey IS covered it up (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4075-AM, March 21 at 0236, pirate music S9+10,
stronger than 4055 TGAV only S9; 0237 segué to a heavy beat dance tune
and cut off air at 0241:15*, no announcements. More logs as unID, some
thinking it smacked of X-FM:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,79347.0.html

Very sad news via NASWA: pirate enthusiast and columnist George Zeller
died the morning of March 20 from a house fire in Cleveland, caused by
electrical overloading. An obit is in the WOR iog (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 7570, Sat Mar 20 at 2300, `Encore` classical hour
from R. Tumbril is not to be heard on this WRMI when it has been for a
few months; not even on the air now until 0000, per new skedgrid
updated March 14. Contrary to this week`s promo from Brice Avery;
guests on WRMI cannot expect to be notified of schedule changes,
rather must keep monitoring and checking the skeds, which now show:

New On 5950: Tue & Sat at 2200
0100 UT Sun on 5850 & 7780, not a new simulcast; has been so for
several weeks. When I listen to it this week!
Still shown:
0200 UT Mon 5950
1300 UT Tue 15770
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2078 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
March 20 at 2130 on WRMI 9955, VG S9+10/20 tho aimed away, one real
hour earlier now, and NO jamming audible either.

Also confirmed Sat Mar 20 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, S9+5/15 into UTwente
SDR.

Also confirmed UT Sun Mar 21 at 0320 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, about 4
minutes into so started near nominal 0315, S9+20/30 direct and no
storm noise for a change. Per Blitzortung, in the entire Conterminous,
only one tiny storm in NE Wyoming, but a line east of FL and Bahamas
outinto the Atlantic. Might be good for LW beacon DX later, but for
K-index of 4 after G2 geomag storms. Next:

2200vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
[request to resume 0300 UT Mondays has been made]
2300 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE
1901 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:
thanks this week to Gerald T Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous check
to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, with comment,
``Equinoctial greetings to the Recording Angel of Shortwave,
who is in especially fine voice these days`` [sic]

One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds, via PayPal to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun March 21 at 0028, WTWW-2 starting `Theater
Organ Under the Arch`, new earlier nominal time for DST season, but as
always the distortion on this transmitter is intolerable, especially
during a fine music show. Once again I try the #2 webcast which is
hi-fi, $ tereo, but intercepted by this: ``Website blocked due to
suspicious activity --- Website blocked: wtww.us Malwarebytes Browser
Guard blocked this website because it may contain scam activity. We
strongly recommend you do not continue.`` I could try using a remote,
but of course GIGO, they are also picking up the original distorted SW
signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs March 20, 2021  View Printable Version
Saturday, March 20 2021

Logs
Correxions to last report:
OKLAHOMA 1460 KZUE cutouts about 8 per second, not per minute
USA WBCQ AAAWWW at 0000 UT Sat Mar 20, no longer at 0100 UT.

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.96-RCUSB, March 20 at 1448 and 1525 chex on
Brazilian SDRs, NO signal from LRA36, which might have been active
this Saturday as it was last Wednesday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13568 S4-S5, 13633 S9, 13767 S9, 13834 S4-S5, 13900 & 13500
traces, March 20 at 1436, all approx., spurblobs out of RHC 13700-AM
which is S9+20. This time best audio is in FM mode, the two closest
ones attaining full quieting, with music and talk, tho lofi and with
loud F-natural tone imposed, which is all I can detect on the
third-orders; today`s intervals about 67 kHz tho broad and hard to
pinpoint. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6960-AM, Green eQSL received in 6 minutes for my
report direct to Ball Smacker Radio <ballsmacker@protonmail.com>
https://www.w4uvh.net/BallSmacker_eQSL-20210319-Green.jpg
or #117 via
http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html
``200W from somewhere in the Northeast`` with this note: ``Thanks for
tuning us in and your reception report. Look for us most Friday
nights at 9PM EDT on 6960AM. We now have a website with show archives
at http://BallSmacker.net Here's an eQSL!`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 329-MCW kHz, March 20 at 0640 UT, ND beacon AAA, 25 watts at
Lincoln / Abraham Lincoln, Illinois. Yes, there is a 15K town named
Lincoln, midway between Springfield and Bloomington. I was tuned to
327-USB.

335-MCW kHz, March 20 at 0638 UT, NDB BV, 25 watts at Batesville,
Arkansas, which is west of Jonesboro and north of Searcy. Now you
know. I used to know someone from there.

347-MCW kHz, March 20 at 0635 UT, NDB AFK, 25 watts at Nebraska City,
Nebraska; with such a grandiose name, N.C. is only a minor 7K town in
the SE on the Missouri River, right next to the IA/MO borders, a true
tri-state area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2078 monitoring: almost confirmed
Sat Mar 20 at 1310, the 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA but trace of audio
probably me; no better by 1328. At least I can more likely check it
now one hour ``later``, but really need to use a remote to the NE.

Also confirmed Sat Mar 20 at 1700 UT on WRN webcast --- shift to 1600
UT not until April 3 when BST have gone into effect.

Also confirmed Sat Mar 20 from 1935 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, VG via
near-local SDR; following QSO-Today. Next:

2130 UT Saturday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE
0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400]

2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE

** U S A. 1540.205 kHz, March 20 at 0630 UT, strong het against
1540.00 stations, no doubt WKVQ, Georgia, 10 kW DAYTIMER as previously
tracked down; altho missing last night. If it be on the air at all, it
must be way off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Subject: [HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs March 18-19, 2021

CUBA. 6060, March 19 at 0239, RHC Spanish S9/+10 but big humbuzz.
Something`s always wrong at RHC. Had been starting circa 0300, but DST
probably earlied it to 0200? Iran finishes Arabic at 0230 but then
there`s the Algeria/France hour at 0400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

CUBA. 13630 and weaker 13770 distorted spurblobs, March 19 at 1432,
plus & minus ~70 kHz from RHC 13700, with F-natural tone. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

CUBA. 15426 approx., March 19 at 1441, extremely distorted spurblob
with music of the RHC ilk, but something NEW here. Yes, can // it to
15140 and 15230. Separation is plus 286 kHz from 15140, and nothing
between them, but also a trace at minus 286 = 14854. Still there at
1501, after 15230 has closed. 15140 itself is slightly distorted.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
