Stephen Luce, Houston TX, replies to my 1310 KZIP log: ``Glenn, about KZIP: Yes the transmitter tower is right next to I-40 just east of Hope Road, and easy to see when driving by. Built in 1978, the tower is also used by what is now KPRF 98.7 which originally signed on that year. Both the AM and FM were co-owned in the late 70's when 1310 was a Country Music station, and 98.7 was Album Rock KYTX (I lived in Amarillo at the time and recall hearing the original transmitter tests for 98.7 during the early morning hours while driving to work.) KZIP was sold around 1981 flipping to a Spanish language format, while 98.7 has had several owners, call signs, and formats over the years. Only things even vaguely resembling a valley in the Amarillo area would be either Palo Duro Canyon or Lake Meredith, unlikely origins of the ownership name. The Texas Panhandle is not completely flat, if you take the time to explore it. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` Yes, Palo Duro is quite scenic, a minature Grand (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9501.15-USB approx., Oct 7 at 1435, 2-way in Spanish INTRUDERS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0149 UT October 8 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Wednesday, October 06 2021
** CANADA. Oct 5 at 0621+ UT, finally few storms in CONUS so noise level low enough to reuncover some ND beacons not heard for months:
335-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0623 UT, dash and YLD, 1000 watts from Chapleau, Ontario. 284-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0627 UT, dash and QD, 500 watts from The Pas MB. 269-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0628 UT, dash and UDE, 50 watts from Delta MB. 250-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0635 UT, dash and FO, 1600 watts from Flin FlOn MB. 223-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0639 UT, dash and YYW. This is missing from dxinfocentre.com, not on any frequency, probably ``decommissioned``. I have heard it before, many times last winter, finally on Feb 5: it`s 1000 watts from Armstrong in remote NW Ontario. But classaxe.com RNA Signals List shows it still logged as recently at 2021-10-02, but never in OK, and power of only 100 watts. 212-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0640, dash and YGX, 50 watts from Gillam MB. Last logged Dec 14 with some info about Gillam. More this session at USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11850, Oct 5 at 0135, RHC Spanish modulation is suppressed/distorted = suptorted to the level of JBM = just barely modulated, S9+20/30 going to waste. SAWA = Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, Oct 5 at 2315, RHC Spanish is S9+10/20 with humbuzz like often infesting 6060 later, probably same transmitter. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13650, Oct 5 at 2320, CRI music only instead of Portuguese relay is S9+10 but overmodulated & distorted. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Oct 5 at 0621+ UT, finally few storms in CONUS so noise level low enough to reuncover some ND beacons not heard for months: 356-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0621 UT, ODX, 25 watts from Ord, Nebraska 341-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0623 UT, OIN, 25 watts from Oberlin KS: yes, Enid local EI is still silent. 257-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0630 UT, JYR, 25 watts from York, NE 257-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0632 UT, FWC, 25 watts from Fairfield/Wayne County, Illinois. I was tuned to 255-USB, where SW Stillwater OK is still silent. 251-MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0634 UT, AM, 100 watts from Amarillo TX. More from same session: CANADA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2106 monitoring; next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 9455 to WNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support; thanks this week to Joe Caberlin, Ontario for a US$ contribution to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Oct 5 at 1456 & 2313 chex, still no signal from WLCR/WBCQ. Has Allan explained anything about this by disgraced twit? Of course not; almost all of them are pro-motional, lastly for AAAWWW on Oct 1. How about the WLC website? Of course not! The latest ``news`` there is dated 2019 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1310 kHz, Oct 6 at 0052 UT, Spanish YL praying openly and fervently, as if God couldn`t read her mind, loops W/E; by ToH faded into jumble, something else IDing in English. There are several SS mostly E and W coast, but the nearby obvious SS:REL hit is KZIP Amarillo TX, 1000/88 watts non-direxional, Radio Vida, per new NRC AM Log [which I highly recommend; see https://nationalradioclub.org/catalog/books/books.html for ordering info]. Official FCC sunset for KZIP in October was 0015 UT, so I had it with 88 watts? November: 2345 UT. As so often, radio-locator.com info is outdated as ``Radio Caliente``. FCC shows licensee is Christian Ministries of the Valley, Inc. What valley? Not AMA. Coverage map at r-l shows site is slightly due west of Amarillo; probably visible along I-40 near Cadillac Ranch (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Oct 5 at 0150-0157 UT: 531, 558(2), 576, 585(2), 612, 621, 639, 657, 684(2), *693, 738, 765, 774(2), 837(2), 882(2), 909, 963, 981, 999, 1053, *1089, 1098(2), 1107, 1116, 1125(3), 1134, 1152, *1215, 1278, 1296, 1413, 1512, 1575 kHz. *strongest probably UK; (2) at least two carriers beating at widely varying rates; (3) more than two (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 13815, Oct 5 at 2321, surprised to find a VG S9 signal direct to here with ME music, Arabic W&M chat, brief Qur`an, chanting for several minutes could be secular; 2333 ``Idha`at ---`` which would be an ID but could not copy it. Starting to fade down. Recheck Oct 6 at 0022, no signal to remotes in Europe, E N America, N S America. Only 13815 entry in EiBi, Aoki and HFCC is 1800-1900, Algeria via France in Arabic and French. Of course that is normally completely off the air before 2300. What is it?? Sounds like a major station (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0327 UT October 6 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
