** SPAIN. Wed Oct 20 at 2200 it`s time for another token English broadcast from REE, so I`m prepared to listen via Maryland SDR: but NO signal on 17855 for NAm, nor 15520 backwards for ME. 11940 for SAm is S9+5, much better than 11670 for Af JBA --- trouble is, 11940 is still extremely distorted, so REE loses this and surely many other listeners; as first item is about ETA. Instead I default to TURKEY, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9830, Oct 20 at 2201, VOT is VG S9/+20 into Maryland SDR showing frequency offset +17 Hz, nor is there any RTTY QRM! Since SPAIN struck out, I`m devoting this semihour to listening to TRT English in detail. News about: attacks in Syria, COVID vax rate in Australia, NK subs, until 2207.5 music break. 2208, `Review of the Turkish Press``, about TRNC matters [no separate review of foreign press this time]. 2210, that COVID PSA - maybe I zoned out but did they finally delete the part about there being no vaccine yet? 2212 music break. 2216 plugs the 41 languages of TRT, on TV? And quickly into `Feeling Supreme - Healthy Life` with detailed recipes for various natural remedies for influenza, with winter oncoming, involving such as ginger tea, rose hip tea, a quantity for something based on the size of a Turkish lira coin --- oh2, where is mine? 2223 music break. 2228, `Weekly Commentary` turns over to YL announcer, all the previous by the same guy with the difficult name. She is harder to understand, seems to be about virtualhub? Anyhow at 2230 it`s time for NBC Nightly [sic] News (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2108 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday October 20 at 2100 on WRMI 7780, S7-S8 into UTwente. Also confirmed about 21 seconds later on WBCQ 7490-, better into Maryland remote, carrier offset minus 97 Hz = 7489.903. Next: 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 9455 to WNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support, which might have been sent via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. New WOR 2109 should be ready early UT Friday Oct 22 for first broadcasts at 0130 on WRMI 5850 & 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIALS ``Gracias Glenn, por compartir toda esta informacion y desde hace ya tantos años. Gracias por tanto, usted es un historico para todos quienes desde ya varias decadas tenemos como aficion y pasion la escucha de la onda corta, media y frecuencia modulada. 73 Gabriel Gomez, Uruguay`` --- unfortunately, he replied on a group which then made it clear my participation was not welcome despite hardly any traffic otherwise This report dispatched at 2336 UT October 20 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

See also my separate post, ``Fun & Games at HFCC B-21`` Here`s another one, INDIA full of inactive or kaput domestic and externals: http://www.hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=B21&broadc=AIR
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Oct 20 at 1534, LRA36 on again for a Wednesday broadcast; of four KiwiSDRs in Brasil, best via Campo tho only S3-S5, less buzzclick QRM than the others, OTH radar? Not local to any of them. Later abating. 1538 ``sign-on`` routine in middle of transmission, ``a partir de ---``, for miércoles 11-13 broadcast = 14-16 UT, also on 96.7 FM; history of station from 1979 -- or 1969? And claiming to be first broadcast station in Anta.; but when did AFAN start? Never mind the Yanquis. Says initially on 6036 kHz, meaning 6030? Raised power to 10 kW and moved permanently to ``15476 AM`` --- no, it`s NOT AM, and now it`s NOT 10 kW, admittedly 700? watts. More usual mix of songs, talkbits and frequent IDs such as 1555; chopped off at 1607*, a minute before Campo SDR times out for reload, still off. Meanwhile, the 2022 crew for LRA36 has been selected, for the first time all-female. Does this mean, about to close down for the summer until Feborso? Via Manuel Mendez, WOR iog where it`s Englished: https://admin.radionacional.com.ar/cuatro-mujeres-estaran-a-cargo-de-lra-36-radio-nacional-en-la-antartida/ This got the FM frequency wrong, ``97.6`` instead of 96.7 as I heard it and as also in WRTH (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5040, Oct 20 at 0140, RHC at S9+10/20 of dead air. Something`s always wrong at RHC; 5025 & 4765 are nominal. 5040, Oct 20 at 0553, RHC is off already instead of 0600+ in Spanish last night, clearing for JBA carrier presumably VANUATU (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMREICA. 6930-USB, Oct 20 at 0050, rock music at S9; 0054 unreadable announcement and off. No logs here but unID from 0101: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,87964.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA [and non]. 17895.070, Oct 20 at 1412, Qur`an JBA from always askew SRI/SBA, and about to dub it the OSOB till I detect a JBA carrier on 17770, which should be TURKEY in Arabic; thus the upperone rates SSOB status only. No sign of other Sa`udi carriers supposedly on 16m now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 3370.5-USB, Oct 20 at 0128, 6TX1, MARS net designator fonetikaly, and AFA6DT, the NCS calling some other AF- stations, without great success; lingo of ``roger`` and ``wilco`` -- the opposite of ``wonco`` are uttered, then nothing more. This frequency net last logged UT Fri March 18, 2016y at 0125, with different calls as in: https://www.w4uvh.net/dxld1612.txt The MARS link then no longer worx: http://www.afmars.net:8080/qilan/MARS/list_RMS_stations and a broad search now on AFA6DT gets only one significant hit: https://www.dxfuncluster.com/spots/AFA6DT log by WS5ADV OKC: ``WS5ADV [Usuario de LOTW] 5332.0 [kHz] AFA6DT 60m Interop Net Ham-MARS 17:00 01-May-21`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2108 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday October 20 at 1045 check the 1030 on WRMI 5850, VG. Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 9455 to WNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support, which might have been sent via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 5040, Oct 20 at 0553, JBA carrier in early absence of RHC, suspect RV which appears to be stuck on this frequency only at all hours instead of 4 others as sequentially registered with HFCC for B-21. Port Vila sunset less than an hour away at 0649. Sob, if only they would resumed 11835 as 3 x 3945 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4940, Oct 20 at 0554, S9/+20 open carrier past hourtop to 0602* --- seems too strong for Maicao Montana missionaries, but no sign of that signal under it. Maybe testing a power increase? Also too strong for VOA Botswana or São Tomé, compared to 4960 STP in fadey dead air at only S9/S6; also far too early for China on 4940 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1646 UT October 20 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs October 18-19, 2021 |

Wednesday, October 20 2021
** ALGERIA [non]. 13815, Oct 19 at 1842, Qur`an at S7-S9, during RTA relay hour via FRANCE. Violating Separation of Mosque and State --- what, you say? Well, there should be, everywhere. My unID of 13815 in Arabic after 23 UT once, remains a mystery (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 9540-9590 approx., Oct 19 at 2207, splash range from heavy jamming centered on 9565 against R. Martí; and another peak about 9600-9605 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9710, Oct 19 at 2210, RHC S9+20 but distorted, as the Chief Meteorologist roughly summarizes weather for Canada, USA, in Spanish; as well as about :15 past some English hours. Even worse on undermodulated 11850. Something`s always wrong at RHC. You may notice that I seldom mention the content of RHC programming; because it`s so outweighed by their SAWAs; and because you cannot trust RHC to be honest about Cuban affairs, let alone American. DDC is a good source for The Other Side, for example: 'Growing old in Cuba is like a living hell' -- 'I’m not helpless, and I don't want to be condescended to. I need a dignified retirement,' says a retired teacher who worked for the state for 35 years... https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1634315177_34832.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KASHMIR [non]. 15170, Oct 19 at 1501 tune-in for another Tuesday-only check of IRRS` Kashmir Civitas [not Citivas I typoed last week], VG S9+35 via UTwente, but it`s in Romanian!! I bet that`s RRI programming by mistake; 1502 abrupt cut to Urdu with music background, shortly switch to another speaker with no music. 1514 adding the strumming undercurrent; 1526 cut to lite jazz, presumably filler after K.C. feed ends or fails, until chopped off air at 1529.5* with no further announcements nor even RRI IS fragment this week (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.9+, Oct 19 at 0615, VON is on for a change, S9+10/20 in Hausa. Replying to my previous obs that it`s mostly missing at 0600+, Ron Howard and Wolfgang Bueschel say it`s intermittent and/or may come on air later than I check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAIPAN [and non]. 11895, Oct 19 at 0609, S7-S9 in Chinese, SSOB as otherwise on 25 mb nothing but JBA carriers. RFA Chinese scheduled, also jammed, and also CRI English via Kashgar, East Turkistan, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uighurs and other Moslems. 22 mb also vacant except for 13840 NZ. Nothing but Pacific is propagating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 11940, Oct 18 at 2200, REE back here after being the one frequency missing the past week; but like before it crashed, again distorted as switches from Spanish to English on a Monday; the S American beam, now also fluttery and ``hollow``-sounding. The other three are detectable, 17855, 15520, 11670, but 11940 is ``best``. Another check Oct 19 at 2219, presumably Sefarad on Tuesday, 11670 & 11940 are JBA; zero on 15520 and JBA carrier on 17855. WWV says K-index at 21 was 4, but no storms observed or predicted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 245-MCW kHz, Oct 19 at 0620 UT, ND beacon FS, 400 watts from Sioux Falls SD. 263-MCW kHz, Oct 19 at 0622 UT, NDB CVM, 25 watts from Alton / Civic Memorial IL. Tuning upward for a change, the only two I log before offdozing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13563.5 approx., Oct 19 at 1425, JBA CW somewhere between 13563 and 13564, finally another HIFER beacon logged, as I was checking for 13565 K6FRC - not today. Very tough copy, not sure whether middle letter has 3 or 4 dots, so YHO? NO, YSO per https://www.lwca.net/sitepage/part15/index.htm ``13563.5~ YSO Yellow Springs OH EM89 New. CW. AJ8S (h 2021/08)`` Axually I was thinking it could be there if ``YSO``. So then I look up AJ8S at: https://www.qrz.com/lookup/aj8s AJ8S USA flag USA JAMES C BAILEY YELLOW SPRINGS, OH 45387 USA including his portrait but none of his YSO rig: https://cdn-bio.qrz.com/s/aj8s/me.JPG ``I operate a Part 15 cw beason [sic] "YSO" on 13563.5 kHz. Reports are appreciated. I am a private pilot with an instrument rating but I am no longer active as we sold our 1965 C172. As a retired engineer, I enjoy traveling with my wife and have plenty of free time for ham radio. I hope to hear you on the air. Thanks for reading. 73, Jim.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490-, Mon Oct 18 at 2303, WBCQ with secret replay of first half of `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot` from 25 hours ago, this time tunes of Togo. S9+10 via Maryland remote, SAM mode showing offset minus 71 Hz = 7489.929 kHz; again I am resorting to this since webcast is so distorted. Cut off at 2330 for bit of music, then spot ad for refrigerator/freezers at Lowe`s, and immediately into `Camp Constitution Radio`, far-right nonsense --- which Lowe`s is sponsoring? By 0033 recheck during `FTIOM` has drifted to customarea of -103 Hz = 7488.897 kHz; and 0218 rerecheck only 1 Hz lower (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Oct 19 at 0607, zero signal from WBCQ/WLCR, tho neighbor 9265 WINB with TOMBS is well audible. 9330 still AWOL at 1435. Exasperated Allan Weiner Worldwide had complained that something new breaks it down every sesquiday = 36 hours. But not a bit about this situation at his disgraced Twitter, all politix, piety and promotion. 9330 is back on Oct 19 at 2204, S9+20 in Brazuguese (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Oct 19 at 2312, on WRMI, this week`s `AWR Wavescan` includes an interview with Kim Andrew Elliott about how he got into SWL and SWBC, and now all about Radiograms; I think they said it was originally on KABC? or more likely KBC as in Mighty to which he contributes; to be continued (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9687.8-USB approx., Oct 19 at 0613, JBA 2-way INTRUDERS, not Spanish? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2348 UT October 19 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
