** CUBA. 6000, Sunday March 17 at 0639, this RHC English is off, but
the other four of The Cuban Five are on, this time with good
modulation: 6165, 6100, 6060, 5040 with honky-tonk piano, ``Ain`t
Misbehavin``` as outroed. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, Sunday March 17 at 1916, `DXers Unlimited` is just
starting on RHC, but VP S4-S4 with depressed MUF. At least is back to
usual time within the hour rather than near the start as one week ago.
Too poor to copy, but as usual Arnie is hurrying thru his script. You
should have heard him `En Contacto` at 1345 on several Spanish
frequencies, breakneck pace and very slurred speech. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH AFRICA. 7285, Sunday March 17 at 0616, church choir and
organ, Afrikaans talk, sermon? S7-S9, from Radio Sonder Grense which
has only 10-14 days left as an SWBC station. It`s 100 kW at 275
degrees from Meyerton, not hard to hear here, nor is the night
frequency 3320 at 18-05 UT as the sun is setting; after 7285 at 05-08,
it`s 9650 at 08-18 with Guinea, Saudi and other QRM problems (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7490, March 17 at 1505, synthetic Spanish on
WWCR --- o, it`s TOMBS with choppy translation of Brother Scare`s
contact info, rendering his name as ``La Escalera del Hermano``, ha3;
at least they did not transform it into El Susto del Hermano! Then
other languages so garbled I can`t be sure of them, maybe Swedish,
etc. Can`t he get these voices to be hoarse? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5950, March 17 at 0625 or so, WRMI Oldies with ``Alice`s
Restaurant`` which goes on and on until 0637; a treat to hear but only
fair with some fadedowns; if // 9395, inaudible there. The canned
announcer has it easy, never identifying or saying anything about the
tunes which sing for themselves (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9380.422, March 17 at 1357-1401+, S3-S4 of fading open
carrier, vs much weaker JBA carrier on 9380.0. HFCC and EiBi have
nothing scheduled now on 9380, only AIR elsewhen, but Aoki/NDXC still
shows the AIR National Channel. Maybe the stronger carrier is a ute
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. Our prime beacon reference for North America,
http://dxinfocentre.com/ndb.htm
now is headed by this note in red:

``Beacons are being decommissioned at such a rapid rate that many
listed here may already be off the air. By 2026, most of these beacons
will be gone with only a few left, __mainly in remote areas.``
More about this in WORLD OF RADIO 1973 and DXLD 19-11

401, March 16 at 0627, dash and YPO, NDBeacon of 500 watts at
Peawanuck, Ontario. I was tuned to 400.

366, March 16 at 0632, dash and YMW, NDB of 500 watts at Maniwaki,
Quebec

355, March 16 at 0634, dash and YWP, NDB of 200 watts at Webequie,
Ontario; a new one here

346, March 16 at 0636, dash and YXL, NDB of 500 watts at Sioux
Lookout, Ontario

341, March 16 at 0648, dash and YYU, NDB of 500 watts at Kapuskasing,
Ontario, mixed with but unblocked by local 25 watt EI in Enid (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100, March 16 at 0620, RHC English this time is
overmodulated and splattering out to 15 kHz above and below. 6165 &
6060 are OK; 6000 & 5040 are off. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13700, March 16 at 1348, RHC is S9+20 here, but no spurs
detectable, shux, with WINB silent Saturday from DRM 13755-13760.
Other RHC, 13780, is only S8-S9 and JBM at 1349. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15370, March 16 at 2029, RHC starting Arabic; 15140, March 16
at 2030, RHC starting Brazuguese. Unknown if both were in French
during 2000 semihour today, like they were yesterday; then splitting.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9720, March 16 at 2039, just caught an open carrier and then
off, probably a pre-check by RHC. My next check at 2157 finds S9+30
OC, 2159.5 IS and theme, opening French (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALI. 13630 // 11640, March 16 at 2033, CRI English, YL narration
about ``John Smith in China`` part of a literary series, fair-poor
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, March 16 at 2210, undermodulated Spanish? S5-S8,
announcement and music; presumed XEPPM as always on much earlier than
scheduled, but from when?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-USB, March 16 at 2201, Irish music at S9, VG,
then announcement as ``Whiskey in the Jerk``(?), 2204 DJ says he`s
just testing in preparation for his St. Patrick`s Day broadcast
tomorrow. No proper ID, but he is ``The old Irishman, from the land of
the leprechaun`` -- an old man needs to go to bed, stayed up later
than he should; a bit more music and off at 2206*. Many logs here as
Irish Rose Radio, and it`s a jar the whiskey is in:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,51953.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, March 17 at 0032, VP music at S3-S4, not 5
X 1390 KCRC-AM local as I was hearing earlier at 2202 on the other
receiver. Many logs here say it was Moonlight Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,51963.0.html
And Wolverine came on same frequency a few minutes later (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also UNIDENTIFIED 6919-LSB

** TURKEY. 12035.713, Sat March 16 at 1350, VOT English is S5-S7 with
`Letterbox` but too poor to copy, also with weaker het from 12035.0
KSDA and stray Cuban pulse jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1973 monitoring: missed checking Sat March 16
at 1230 and 2100 on WRMI, 9955; anybody hear them?

Sat March 16 at 1531 on HLR 9485-CUSB: inaudible via UTwente SDR, and
Alan Gale, England, could not hear it either.

Confirmed UT Sun March 17 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG S9+30.

Also confirmed UT Sun Mar 17 starting at 0336 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO,

** U S A. 17775, Sat March 16 at 1805, no signal from KVOH if it`s on
for weekly English broadcast (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6917-LSB, March 17 at 0034, mixture of musix, crowd
sounds, song not in English, Brazilian talk, 0038 seems like QSOs. I`m
rather sure of the language; could this be all the way from Brasil?
But several logs here guess Spanish and others, no Portuguese:

** BRAZIL [and non]. 6180, March 16 at 0201, oh oh, horrible head-on
collision between RNA in Brazuguese ID, and CRI relay via CUBA in
Chinese, making a fast SAH; indeed no RNA on 11780 tonight; by 0226
it`s the one on top. No doubt messes up both CRI relay hours 0100-
0300. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba --- in the sense that they
should have known 6180 was the #1 Brazilian frequency subject to
renewal. But CRI is going back up to 9580 in A-19 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100 & 6060 & 5040, March 15 at 0637, these three RHC English
frequencies are on, and two are off: 6165 & 6000. Good modulation
level but 5040 a bit rough. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13643.406 & 13672.702 & 13728.296, March 15 at 1428, JBA
spurblobs out of RHC 13700-AM at intervals of approx. 28.297 kHz,
while the fourth one on the plus side is again blocked by WINB 13755-
13760 QRDRM. Each is wobbling slightly by 1 or 2 Hz. Fortunately these
are too weak to threaten otherstations much, but nevertheless defects.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15230, March 15 at 1436 RHC jazz is distorted and crackling,
while // 15140 is slightly cleaner. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15370, March 15 at 2005, RHC is S9+10 in French but JBM. //
15140 also French at S9 but merely undermodulated, i.e. better than
15370. WRTH shows 15140 French to NAm at 2100, so it has shifted an
hour earlier; but 15370 French to Europe at 2030, so how did it wind
up at 2000? At least, today. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9720, March 15 at 2249, RHC in Haitian Kriyol again instead
of Portuguese, which I expect a lot more Africans would comprehend
altho it`s rather late beyond Bissau. The 23-24 hour again in English,
VG // much weaker 5040 at 2343 check. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11980, March 15 at 2253, S9 of dead air --- what`s this? O
yes, second harmonic of 5990 warming up for CRI English relay from
2300, which is also on at S9+10. Hard to believe there is any harmonic
suppression on this one. 2336 recheck, 11980 is S9 and suptorted now
much weaker than 5990 at S9+20/30.

But 25m is really propagating now with 11950 Mesa Redonda pre-IS at
S9+30; 11840`s plus/minus 10 spurs perfectly readable at S9 and also
with JBA carrier +/- 20 spurs on 11820 & amid still jamming on 11860.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, March 16 at 0200, RHC English is JBM, and with SAH
presumably Turkey, while the only // 6165 is merely undermodulated.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST) see also BRAZIL

** CUBA. 5040, March 16 at 0229, RHC Spanish is JBM, suptorted with
spikes, awful sounding but same as clearer music on 6060. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glen Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 9490, March 16 at 0232, Spanish about Venezuela, poor
S6-S8 but no jamming audible, against Radio RepÃblica via FRANCE,
unusual. Wonder if sked has shifted for this along with DST in Cuba.
Skip is long with Europe also audible on 31m, 9690 Spain, while JBA
carriers or nothing from WRMI 9395 & 9955, RHC on 9535 & 9640. So
jamming could still be rampant, just not propagating to here (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUAM. 12040, March 16 at 2259, as I am surveying RHC and Spain on
25m, just as I tune in, I hear what sounds like the last note of RHC
IS and cut off the air. But I can`t figure a formula to explain as a
mixing product. O, it`s really KSDA ending its 2230 Javanese service,
regularly well audible here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 17570, March 15 at 2001, poor signal at S7-S9, maybe
sorta French? Found here as SSOB after JBA carrier from 17815 WHRI, no
signal from 17775 KVOH, nor anything else. So what is this? HFCC shows
AWR, daily 2000-2030 only, 250 kW, 295 degrees from Talata in mos
language. What does that abbr.? Consulting WRTH 2019, finally find it
filed under UK: AWR Africa on page 498, as Mossi to W Africa. That`s
the SIL language abbr., as in EiBi`s readme.txt: ``MOO Moore/MÃorÃ:
Burkina Faso (5m) [mos]`` --- note the lack of congruence, not even
one letter S in that version.

Anyhow this implies that MWV English at same hour would not be making
it if it had stayed on 17640 instead of always-audible 11965 in B-18.
And it plans to stay on 11965 in A-19, as well as 13670 for the other
English at 18 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALI. 5995, March 15 at 2336, no signal already from ORTM, if it
was on today, must have quit earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, March 15 at 0626 RNZI tune-in, PM Jacinda
Ardern is speaking, apparently live, condemning the mosque massacres,
and then taking questions from press. An increasingly rare instance of
getting breaking news direct from the source thanks to SW. As usual
during its sole hour on this band, RNZP is the SSOB by far, S9 fading
to S6; by 0631 weakening a bit, heard past 0635 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-USB, March 15 at 2339, VP with song, no carrier
and sounds a little bit more on-key about 6924.96. 2349 fade up
slightly with wacko screaming, music, fade down again by 2359. First
pirate I have heard in a few weeks. Too late to get into this week`s
FRW deadline at 0000, except for Harold Frodge who was editing it.
Several reports here say it was Radio Gaga between 2339 and 2413*
closing with SSTV, and what I heard was probably Beavis & Butthead:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,51913.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 12030, Friday March 15 at 2252, REE in Arabic, S9+20 on ME
frequency off-the-back here, 2258 still in Arabic. This language does
not appear in WRTH or other schedules, but the second time I`ve heard
it during this semihour. But // 11685 to Africa is still/again AWOL.

Also off is 11940 to S America, but VG 9690 to N America remains on in
Spanish, not Arabic. By 2301 the two remaining frequencies, 12030 &
9690 have joined for unCastilian song, by way of introducing an
English interview by Justin Coe with today`s guest, Xavier from
Galicia. So the mostly-music English semihour is back this Friday,
having been away on hembra-huelga last week (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3264.9v, March 15 at 0641 JBA trace of music, as this WBCQ
is running all night, and probably all day, maybe by plugging into
HooseSkow Radio, Timtron`s 98.1 LPFM in Skowhegan.

Almost time for `AWWW`, March 15 at 2344 when I survey WBCQ
frequencies: 3264.9, JBA trace; 5130+v, NO signal; 7490.14v, good
S9+10 about praying; 9330.13v, TOMBS at S4-S7. Previous music switches
to WTO slightly after 0000 UT Sat March 16 on 7490+, as I move to the
webcast, with rather lo-fi audio. Is it a new live edition? From
Deland of FLA, temp is 84 --- inside the studio so Angela is half-
naked. Says they were away last weekend driving their 100-year-old
cars around Clearwater. 0054 recheck, reading some pirate logs from
the new Free Radio Weekly edition which just came out a few minutes
earlier, including the ARRL story about increased FCC pirate
enforcement which I had sent in. AW always takes the opportunity to
encourage pirates to get on WBCQ instead and avoid prosecution, and
offers special rates to them, especially when 3265 is no longer just
testing. A fuller report from John H Carver, Jr.:

``Tonight's show started on time with a good signal on 7490. Allan and
a half naked Angela in the studio in FLA. He said that they were gone
last weekend on another antique car rally. He also said that having
fun was an important thing to do. In passing he mentioned that it was
74 in Florida at the moment, down from the mid-eighties today. He said
that he had been in discussions with a man earlier this week who
wanted airtime in July for a one-time ten-to-twelve hour program
honoring pirate radio broadcasters. He said broadcasters from Colorado
but the man he talked to was from California.

Then a serious talk about AI. First phone call at 0025 from Ramsey
which continues the AI discussion. Another phone call at 0039
continuing the discussion and postulating about computers taking over
the government. Signal starts to degrade some at 0041.

Reading of emails at 0046. One email with a signal report of 3265
prompts Allan to mention that this spring 3265 will be getting a
different antenna. Nothing said about increasing power. Then a reading
of the Free Radio Weekly. Closing prayer at 0059. Show was off the air
at 0101 and 7490 was off the air about a minute after that. John, Mid
-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15770, March 15 at 2004, S6-S8 of dead air from WRMI.
Perhaps SMTV had kept modulating until 2000 when QSY to another
transmitter on inaudible 5950 scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, March 15 at 1442, WTWW-1 night frequency still
running, while IIRC yesterday 9475 day channel was already up before
this hour. Recheck at 2039, *still* on 5830, I assume never having
brought up 9475 today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9720, Wed March 13 at 2246, RHC is in Kriyol! today, while
yesterday March 13 this semihour was in Brazuguese, preceded by French
at 2200. But now not // 5040 which is in Spanish // 15370 (and 15730
is off). At 2259 Mar 13, 9720 is already opening the hour in English.
Something`s always wrong at RHC. Different lineup next day: see below
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000 suptorted // 6165 adequate, March 14 at 0027, RHC
English is indeed on an hour previous to the *0100 UT start for the
past year. First time I had checked it since March 10; but not on 5040
which has shifted an hour earlier only. So the N American service can
run 7 hours between 00 and 07, but not necessarily on all frequencies.

The 0600 hour never seems to have the same characteristics. On March
14: 6165 has undermodulated RHC English mixing about equally with weak
NHK Arabic via FRANCE, adding up to S9+10; 6100 is undermod but clear;
6060 is OK; 6000 & 5040 are both off. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9720, what`s happening March 14 with RHC`s so-called African
service? At 2221 Spanish music is playing, but not // Spanish service
on 9640, etc. 9730 at 2225, French news all about Brexit; 2229
resounding IS and into Kriyol sign-on. By 2307 check, 9720 is in
English --- so that hour is becoming reliable, but you never know
which languages will inhabit the previous hour. Something`s always
wrong at RHC.

As for other frequencies: 15730, March 14 at 2225, S7-S9 of dead-air
warmup, then IS version curtailing the resounding of the notes,
modulation OK, but at 2230 into suptorted French; wiggle that
patchcord! At 2307 check this frequency is in suptorted Kriyol.
Something`s always wrong at RHC.

11700, March 14 at 2230, theme and opening Portuguese/Brazuguese on
this frequency only.

After 2307 check, all these are in Spanish with music: 9535, 9640,
11670, 11700-distorted, 11760, 11840 & 11830/11850 spurs. Different
Spanish talk on 11950 // 6000 for Mesa Redonda TV soundtrack. 15370 is
now off; 5040 in English (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 7340, surprise fourth frequency for R. MartÃ,
presumably Greenville-B, is off the air by 2049 UT March 13 check,
last noted here at 1842. Not heard at all next day March 14 at various
chex between 1422, 1506 and 1723, plus a few later. Must have been a
test (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY. 11730, March 14 at 1425, upbeat pop music or praise? S3-
S4, 1430 AWR English ID and fading next language? Listed Mandarin, 250
kW, 75 degrees from Nauen. Axually the entire hour is supposed to be
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 11965, March 14 at 1902, Mideast music sounds secular,
but since it`s Madagascar World Voice, could it really be Christian?
Not necessarily; later caught ending of hour in Arabic to 1957:10*.

11965, March 14 at 2017 recheck, now in English it`s noticeably
stronger tho no S-meter on the caradio; definitely Christian in sermon
about David. There is a 60-degree shift in azimuth between the two
hours, 355 to 295 degrees, by swapping 30 degree slews of the #218
antenna, the latter certainly more favorable for us.

BTW, the founder of World Christian Broadcasting has died, as
mentioned starting World of Radio 1973 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST) Viz.:

Maurice Hall, founder of World Christian Broadcasting, dies at 99
The Christian Chronicle By Erik Tryggestad
Franklin, Tenn.-based World Christian Broadcasting reports:

Maurice Hall, whose idea and vision led to the founding of World
Christian Broadcasting, died March 8 at his home in California, three
days after his 99th birthday.

âIt was his dreams during World War II that made World Christian
Broadcasting possible,â said president and CEO Andy Baker.

A native of Tennessee Colony, Texas, Hall served in the U.S. Army and
was involved in setting up and shipping shortwave radio equipment for
President Franklin D. Rooseveltâs use at Yalta in 1945. He came up
with the idea of transmitting Gospel messages all over the world via
shortwave radio.

Hallâs dream became a reality in 1983, when station KNLS in Anchor
Point, AK, signed on the air. The station has been broadcasting since,
and now, World Christian Broadcasting also operates Madagascar World
Voice. The two stations blanket the globe with Gospel messages and
information in several languages.

In addition to his work with World Christian Broadcasting, Hall served

** MALI. 5995, March 14 at 0603, still no signal from ORTM`s morning
broadcast scheduled from 0555, unlike audibility in the evening. At
least no ACI from 6000 Cuba which is off this time; but on 5990 there
is stray pulse jamming vs nothing (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NIGERIA [and non]. 9689.93, March 13 at 2051, low-audible-het to
9690.00 REE SPAIN, and careful LSB tuning audiblizes some separable
music from Voice of Nigeria. If they can`t get VON off their
frequency, or vice versa, if they even realize there is a problem, REE
doesn`t have enough flexibility to zero-beat it, at least getting rid
of the het. VON should be finished by 2100 clearing for the rest of
REE (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1610, March 14 at 2007 UT, NOAA Weather Radio is JBA into
caradio on west side of Enid; no doubt WQCL720, Jet OK, near Great
Salt Plains, relaying Wichita NWS; lots of high winds reported. Hard
to catch locations mentioned, but one was Wellington near there, also
OKC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 101.5, March 14 at 1905, 1958 UT and later
chex, no signal at all from KOCD Okeene, after at least 9 days of
cutting off and on twice every minute; so now either the transmitter
has collapsed completely on its own, or HQ has decided to make it a
100% failure instead of only 78%.

101.5, however, March 14 at 1958 UT as I am straining to hear anything
from KOCD on caradio in western Enid, instead there is a very weak
signal in Spanish mentioning Kansas, i.e. KSMM, 100 kW from Liberal,
which I have heard before KOCD glommed onto 101.5 much closer to here
than 281 km = 174 miles. Welcome back!

101.5, March 14 at 1958.5 UT, a bit of music for a second or less,
which I think was a meteor burst rather than KOCD (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAO TOME. 9550, March 14 at 0616, S2-S3 of English, some with
African accent, one of few stations on band. This hour only is VOA
Pinheira, an obscure frequency; much weaker than 7345 BBC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690: see NIGERIA [and non].

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1973 monitoring: confirmed
Wednesday March 13 at time-shifted 2100 on WRMI 9955 --- but a hymn
has been playing at 2059, no ID, then cut to WOR playback already in
progress, picking up at ``--73. . .``, good S9 signal; and also on
WBCQ 7490.2, about 6 seconds later at much weaker S5-S7.

** U S A. 7780, Thursday March 14 after 2100, WRMI is JBA but it`s not
me, despite long-standing skedgrid entry for WORLD OF RADIO now. By
2125 improved to VP so I can recognize it`s VORW as John is mostly
talking instead of musicking. The WRMI frequency grid for 7780 shows
21-22 UT as ``RAE in German (VORW Thursday)``. This is very strange,
to shove RAE German aside one of the days it is on, and of course it
is not on Saturday or Sunday anyway, but this is in fact what is being
done; despite the System D program skedgrid below which claims WOR is
on 7780 at 2100-2130 and then Wavescan at 2130-2200 on Thursdays ---
and both also on 5950, which is another anomaly but I can`t detect
what`s really on there today, as by 2153 it is only JBA, with Oldies
or Argentina? Furthermore, the System G schedule (in ET, not UT) now
shows Argentina in Italian M-F including Thursday at 5-6 pm on 7780
(and 9395).

I have been rechecking to redeconfirm that WOR is NOT airing as has
been on this contradictory schedule for months. Furthermore, WOR is
shown at same time and frequencies Wednesdays at 2100, equally
unlikely, but I missed checking yesterday; that now coincides with a
time WOR really airs on 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, March 14 at 2047, praise music in Spanish and YL
sermonettes, VG signal on caradio, while earlier today KVOH was as
usual a JBA carrier at best. Probably some HF sporadic E brought it
in; and/or KVOH has their new transmitter going. Of course on this rig
I could not measure whether it was 11 Hz off-frequency-minus as usual
from the old transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re: Vietnamese on KGOW [1560] and maybe KBXD [1480], Stephen
Luce, Houston TX replies on the WOR iog:

``Glenn, The service is called Viet Radio, based here in Houston. They
also have a sister TV station, VIETV on KTBU 55.5. I discovered that
the radio station's morning show is simulcast on the TV station with
in-studio cameras. Viet Radio has a website
http://vietradio.com/
which autolaunches a stream of the radio station, useful for
comparison to what you are hearing on 1560 and perhaps 1480.

Was not aware of any KGOW STA for ND at night, but it is not a station
I give much attention, not being the target demographic`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9985+, March 14 at *1458.5, open carrier on at S2-S3,
much weaker than yesterday, 1500 JBA modulation, i.e. R. Free Asia in
Korean, supposedly Saipan but not confirmed. Today by comparison, 9975
in Korean at 1501 is S5-S9 with hum but just barely modulated. We know
this one is 345 degrees from PALAU with Nippon no Kaze.

If 9985 is Philippines as I posited yesterday on 21 degree beam toward
DPRK and South Carolina, why is it now so much weaker than Palau
beamed away from us? At 15 UT, the K index is 3 and path from Palau to
Enid goes further south peaking about latitude 49 over north Pacific,
while Tinang approaches the auroral zone up to approx. 57 north around
Kodiak island on the southern edge of Alaska mainland; which could
account for the difference (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 101.3, March 14 at 1959 after checking for KOCD 101.5,
find a stronger open carrier here, where we normally have a fringe
signal from 100 kW KFDI Wichita. Hard to believe such a station would
suffer dead air, so maybe an RF feeder from a nearby car in the
larking pot; I meant to check it when driving away but distracted by
something else (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. In previous report, even I was confused in assessing the RHC
situation. Let`s try again with this graf corrected to replace it:

9720, Tuesday March 12 at 2145, is NOT on the air, despite Sunday
having moved English-allegedly-to-Africa into the 21-22 hour instead
of 22-23. But today at *2154 the RHC IS starts playing, until 2201
morphing into theme and opening --- French! Then at 2245 check the
second half of this hour is back in --- Brazuguese! i.e. both an hour
*later* than they had been until March 10. 9720 at 2317 check is in -
-- English! also an hour *later* rather than earlier, which would be
the *logical* change when DST start, and now // 5040 which has
logically shifted an hour earlier. So now English starts at 1 am in
RSA where 9720 is supposedly aimed, 23-24 UT, instead of only midnight
local. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100 & 6060 & 5040, March 13 at 0610, the final? RHC English
hour is running on these frequencies, all with loud enough modulation,
while the other pair of The Cuban Five are OFF tonight: 6000 & 6165,
the latter bearing weak NHK Arabic via FRANCE instead. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13628.295, March 13 at 1426, RHC spur with some music
audible, and weaker match on the opposite side of source 13700-AM, at
13671.69 or so; second order at twice the distance, 56.60 below, JJBBA
on 13643.40. Its match on the plus side computed circa 13756.60 is
totally blown away by WINB DRM noise! Come on, WINB, give the RHC
spurs a chance! Maybe we can hear that one on a weekend. But when, o
when, will RHC resume huge FM spurblobs all over the 13 MHz band? That
would give WINB a run for its money. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 101.5-WBFM, March 13 at 1723 UT check, KOCD Okeene is
*still* cutting on the air for 7 seconds of modulation, 25 seconds off
the air, over & over; now in its ninth day at least of doing this
since I first noticed March 5, but probably considerably previous. Any
listeners they had before must have abandoned them by now; but did not
a one of them inform HQ of the problem? This non-LP transmitter ought
to be audible at source KWDW-LP, SW OKC. I`m certainly not going to,
as tracking this incompetence is a lot more fun than listening to
gospel-huxtering in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7340, March 13 at 1745, Radio Martà on surprise new daytime
frequency, fair and // much stronger 11860, 11930 and 13820, all of
which are atop jamming but none yet on 7340. Maybe a test? Tnx to tip
by Ethan Best, KC9YDN to the WOR iogroup at 1722:

``During a midday band scan I noted at 1710z Radio Marti on the
unusual frequency of 7340 kHz. ID heard at 1715z. SINPO 55555 here in
central Indiana. The transmission is still on at time of posting``

But Steve McGreevy, CA, was hearing nothing on 7340; intermittent or
just not propagating that far? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, March 13 at 1508, WTWW-1 night frequency is still
running at S9+20, not yet on 9475 past 10 am local; it all depends on
when Ted gets around to QSYing that transmitter. Strangely, no daytime
signal today from 5085 WTWW-2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490, March 13 at 1512, no signal from WWCR-2; already
changed to 12160 at S9-S6 with flutter and vs CODAR. EiBi still shows
WWCR 7490 until 1600 Mon-Sat, -1500 Sunday, but he`s still not updated
since pre-DST March 5. WWCR`s own program sked as of March 11 shows
the transition daily at 1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1480, March 13 at 0556-0606 UT, Vietnamese still being the
main language audible here, i.e. KBXD Dallas. I decide to compare it
to the Vietnamese always on 1560 from KGOW Houston market, which is
now dominant and easily heard thanx to STA of ND(?) instead of
strictly direxional nights SE into the Gulf (of Mexico, not Tonkin)
toward S America where it used to be a common DX catch when
desportive. By golly, sounds like the same programming on both, M&W
chatting with lots of laughter, bits of music, and no ToH ID from
either. But far out of synch; listening with two sets of headphones
upon my head from the DX-398 and the R-75, I can`t decide which is
delayed, as recognizing keywords in VV is not that easy, and it`s high
time to snooze (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7332-USB, March 3 at 0606-0607, random bandscanning
finds something akin to what I logged 5+ hours earlier on 6903-USB:
this time it`s a YL voice with fonetik alfanumeric message, and I just
catch the last part of it: ``OTOLSOBRAVL6 --- this concludes a message
of 30 characters --- this is C8W --- out``

As for 6903, Ron Howard replies with research from Russia:

Hi Glenn, Found via online search, for your consideration:
http://www.wunclub.narod.ru/files/eam.html

". . . or concatenated with additional alpha-numeric characters to
produce alpha-numeric strings that total 28 characters (the most
common length; 30-characters prior to 01 Oct 2000; 26-characters prior
to 01 Oct 1998) . . ." "EAM" is Emergency Action Message.

Below is also something to consider, via HFU HF Underground.
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php?topic=37742.0

6903 USB, October 03, 2017, 2111 UTC --- I've been hearing what sounds
like EAM broadcast on 6903 USB starting 2029z on 6903 USB. While these
messages were being broadcast I tuned in 11175; 8992; and 6988; the
messages on 6903 were not simulcast on those other frequencies
(nothing at all heard on 8008). Other sources indicate that these are
transmissions for a Skymaster exercise. Logged - Northeast Ohio

Re: 6903 USB, October 04, 2017, 1517 UTC --- Several logs for this
frequency and 6988 kHz USB in the Other and Utility forums. Both 6903
and 6988 kHz have been logged in the past with EAMs - radio operator
training as well as 68xx kHz frequencies``

There`s more: the EAM training season must be in full swing: 5074-USB,
March 13 at 0613, just hear the end of what sounds like another EAM:
``November, Oscar, out`` by OM voice; squeezed in between WTWW 5072+
spur and 5085 fundamental. I assume these messages once decoded will
be inconsequential in a non-emergency; one-time pads, or what? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7575-USB, March 13 at 1511, 2-way in Spanish, ``cambio``
but no reply heard. A good choice as NO broadcasters are now listed
anywhen on 7575 (but not good during 7570 WRMI usage). EiBi, however
shows something intriguing nearby from Spain we are not likely to
hear: ``7572 0840-0850 Mo-Fr E Ejercito del Aire S E to`` = Toledo? A
net or broadcast, USB or what? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9985.035V, March 13 at 1502, S9+10 of Korean from RFA
via disputed site; wobbles slightly so hard to measure exactly. This
bigsig is typical of what we get from Tinang, Philippines, when on the
21 degree azimuth antennas toward North Korea, beam which carries on
across the USA: northern edge of Alaska, Michigan to South Carolina;
while the approx. azimuth from NMI to P`yongyang is 335 degrees. The
registered Az. on record for Tinian 9985 were 325 and 329 degrees,
resulting in much weaker sig here, not to mention power disparity of
nominal 100 kW vs 250 from Tinang (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
