Logs
** EAST TURKISTAN. Re my log on 17615 with Chinese music, August 4 at
0638, Wolfgang Bueschel confirms, of the two ChiCom broadcasts, this
would be the German service: ``Checked the 16 mb on Aug 1 morning 4-7
UT: CRI via Urumqi and Kashgar bc center had a lot of foreign
services: CRI French, Italian, Arabic, Russian and Spanish language
section had also some part of 'theme TALK' in between, English
programmes of course anyway, but CRI German service noted playing
'Music ONLY'. 73 wb df5sx`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, August 5 at 0500-0506, UR1 via WRMI,
immediately into `Ukraine: Security Issue`, again with the
fast-talking heavily-accented OM hard to understand. Does not cite
date, but day 162 of Putin`s war, which does = August 4; including
missiles into Ukraine are also being launched from Belarus` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Thanks this week for financial support from Joe Caberlin, VE1EJ,
Ontario, for some US$ to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702;
preferably by money order or check on a US bank.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com

Confirmed UT Friday August 5 at 0130, first broadcasts on WRMI: 7730,
S9/+10 with storm crashes into Maryland SDR; 5850 VG direct.

Also confirmed UT Friday August 5 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S7/9+10 into
Maryland SDR, altho aimed SW from FL.

Also confirmed Friday August 5 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S7/S9 direct,
seems undermodulated; no Cuban jamming audible. Next: Friday 1815 as
above (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Correxion: this should have read 9330.083, not 9329.083;
fixed: 9330.083, August 2 at 1508, WLCR/WBCQ still frequency-skewed
due to alternative driver (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13845, August 5 at 1428, NO signal from this WWCR: must be
off, since 15825 attains a JBA carrier, while 9980 & 7490 blast in as
usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1160, August 5 circa 0615 UT, another try for the RCC
station: some Spanish JBA, and again nothing from KSL: surely it`s on
but not propagating. Tonight the IBOC noise is much worse from 1170
Tulsa, ex-KVOO: even USB tuning of 1160 cannot avoid it (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs August 4, 2022  View Printable Version
Thursday, August 04 2022

Logs
** EAST TURKISTAN [non?]. 17615, August 4 at 0638, Chinese traditional
music at S8/9+10, the SSOB by far, besides several carriers or JBA
carriers propagating on 16m in the summer nightmiddle. Probably CGTN
German service from Kashgar, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide
against Uighurs and other Moslems; but simulscheduled is CRI in
Chinese via Kunming. Is the entire German hour, like several other
languages, defaulting to fill music? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1210, August 4 at 0646 UT, ``The Five States` Big Talker,
KGYN`` Guymon ID, mentions Jim Bohannon, but not his voice. Seems the
78-year-old has been out for some time with health issues, but a
seemingly recent item says he is now coming back, thanking three
substitutes. Can no longer find any affiliate list on the web (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, August 4 at 0500-0507, UR1 via WRMI, `Ukraine:
Security Issue` VG into Maryland SDR; including: Russia has failed to
occupy Donbas completely; being repulsed in the south, such as 50
settlements in Kherson region liberated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2149 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.
Dear Glenn: World of Radio, monitoring and confirming the latest for
#2149, 40 years of shortwave listening since 1982, August is this
guy’s birthday month, birthday boy; WRMI:

9395, QSB fading, slight QRN, 0030, 0044, 0058 (45343), 0059, August 4
UTC [Thu]
9395, QRN, signal S9 levels, 0130, 0143, 0159 (45433), 0158, August 4
UTC [Thu] (Lemke, Richard -AB) Good listening, Richard, August 4``

Also confirmed UT Thu Aug 4 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9/+15 into Maryland
SDR.

Also confirmed UT Thu Aug 4 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+5/15; and S9/+10
on WRMI 5010, not solid with storm crashes, both into Maryland SDR.

WOR 2150 should be ready for download and first broadcasts on WRMI
5850 & 7730, UT Friday August 5 at 0130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7730, UT Thursday August 4 at 0100-0130, WRMI VG with Radio
Carpathia International, music from E Europe. This test spot provided
by R. Northern Europe International with own show at 0130-0200. Both
hosted by YLs, who they are and where they are not clear. Presumably
not on a weekly basis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1090, August 4 at 0648 UT, ``The Voice of Southern Gospel
Singing, news? Radio, AM 1090, KAAY`` promo. Big sig, so is it still
on 12.5 kW? FCC AM Query still shows 50 kW direxional at night, with
0.08 kW only a CP, and nothing about 12.5 kW. Until digging into the
Correspondence file, latest from July 14:

http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/getimportletter_exh.cgi?import_letter_id=102873
Has been on 12.5 kW ND STA for over 2 years, but got another extension
until January 14, 2023. Why is it so tough to get an 80 watt
transmitter up and running? Meanwhile the other 1090s and DXers will
have to put up with KAAY QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1160, August 4 at 0644 UT, ``la santísima virgen``
mentioned in Spanish, ergo something RCC in the Marian cult. Last
year`s NRC AM Log shows some EWTN stations on 1160, but all in
English. Among SS stations in USA, only REL is: WRLZ, Saint Cloud FL,
U4 2500/500 watts. No website but owned by Iglesia el Calvario de
Orlando, Inc., which is Assemblies of God, not Catholic. Not Mexican,
only one 1160 left, in BC, non-religious. 1170 Tulsa IBOC peaking 1157
evitable by USB tuning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
