Logs
** CHINA. 12500, July 20 at 1411, JBA Chinese from CNR1 jammer, but
none found higher in the 12s or WOOB 13s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CONGO. Re the JBA carrier I had on 6115, July 19 at 0531, when a
reactivated Congo could propagate, but not Japan that early, Ron
Howard replies, ``Hi Glenn, July 20 - Confirmed my comments for 6115
kHz. Checking around 0525 UT and found no carrier at all here on the
Calif. coast; 0606, noted carrier, but no audio (suspect Japan); 0650,
pop songs from Japan starting to fade up; at 0730, fair reception of
Japan. 6055 was broadcasting today. Ron``

Alan Pennington, July 20 on the BDXC-UK iog: ``Radio Congo Brazzaville
has been heard again on 6115 kHz on 19th July with recording: "Radio
Congo. Brazzaville, Republic of #Congo. 6115 kHz frequency. Signal
captured on the north coast of RS, on July 19, 2021, at 3:04 am."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFj_IlmLjMc
(Carlos Latuff @LatuffCartoons on Twitter July 19, translated from
Portuguese) RS presumably Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and time 3.04 am
is local time in Brazil (UTC -3?) so heard at 0604 UT?

A Radio Congo technician had written to Christoph Ratzer that this
frequency (6115) was no longer used - see DX News in April 2021
Communication (page 28). 73 Alan``

Jorge Freitas, Bahia, replies: ``Listening now at 1600 UT in South
Africa's SDR in 6115. African music, male voiceover. The signal is
weak. Carlos Latuff does not inform if UT or local time (0604 UT)
https://youtu.be/iF-zGj7z5GU
73 Jorge Freitas Local time -3 UT Feira de Santana, Bahia 12°14´S
38°58´W - Brasil Tecsun PL-660, XHDATA Antenna Delta Loop and LW 20
meters``

Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, replies: ``Heard via SDR Kiwi remote
receiver in South Greece and weaker in Reinante, North West of Spain.
CONGO, 6115, Radio Congo, Brazzaville, 1800-1830*, 20-07, French, ID.
"Radio Congo", news, mentioned a lot of times "Le Congo", "le
patrimonie culturel du Congo", "Les Congolais", end of news and closed
at its usual time, 1830. 25322.

From 1815-1830*, 20-07, heard in Reinante, North West of Spain, Tecsun
PL-880, cable antenna, 8 meters, very weak signal, best on LSB, but
improving due to sunset proximity here. 15321`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 6100, July 20 at 0618, RHC English humbuzzy transmitter is
here instead of usual 6060, which is off. How fortunate to maintain
this by substitute! Both Aoki and EiBi show both from Bauta. 6165 is
OK but undermodulated; 6000 is also off; and 5040 is in Spanish.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, July 20 at 1412, RHC music is S9/+10 but suptorted ---
wiggle that patchcord! // 15230 is OK but undermodulated. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KASHMIR [non]. 15170, July 20 at *1459.3 via UTwente tuned in
earlier, big S9+20 carrier pops on, and modulation from 1500, JIP
music, Urdu talk, brief deadair break. Another Tuesday, so it`s
another Kashmir Civitas clandestine. Crosstalk briefly at 1501 from
something in Slavic? But Arthur Pozner says it`s Romanian. I listen to
whole thing, strumming background, catching occasional English words
evidently needed for concepts inexpressible in Urdu? Occupation,
repression, bunker. Like last week at 1528 cuts to rock song in
English before turned off at 1529* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PHILIPPINES. 9410, July 20 at 1417, Korean at S9/+10, best
extracontinental signal on band, i.e. VOA Tinang aimed at us far
beyond Koreas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. TOMBS: See USA: WWCR; twice

** SPAIN. 17855, Monday July 19 at 2301, REE English good S9 but some
deep fades to S3, opens with only a minute of news, then feature about
an exhibition in Madrid of the art of Georgia O`Keeffe. Justin Coe
interview with Marta Ruiz, curator of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

I thought they were saying ``Titian`` but Thyssen, near El Prado, is
the museo exhibiting Georgia until August 8:
https://www.museothyssen.org/en/exhibitions/georgia-okeeffe

``The museum is presenting the first retrospective in Spain on Georgia
O’Keeffe (1887-1986). Through a selection of approximately 90 works
visitors enter the pictorial universe of a creative figure considered
one of the leading representatives of 20th century American art.

The exhibition offers a complete survey of O’Keeffe’s career, ranging
from the works produced between 1910 and 1920 that made her a pioneer
of abstraction to her celebrated flower paintings and views of New
York, which led to her recognition as one of the key figures in modern
American art, and culminating with her paintings of New Mexico that
arose from her fascination with the landscape and cultural mix
characteristic of that remote region.

Georgia O’Keeffe is organized by the Museo Nacional
Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Centre Pompidou and the Fondation Beyeler, in
partnership with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
After it has been seen in Madrid, the exhibition travels to Paris and
Basel.``

They had been working for years to bring this about, and despite
delays and concerns about COVID, it is now underway, thanks to loans
from the O`Keefe museum in Santa Fe --- which I have visited, and
others. It was quite a task to get it all safely shipped. Thyssen
museum had only five O`Keefes. The artist had visited Spain twice in
1953 & 1954 but felt her western all-American art would not be
appreciated in Europe. Discussed not only her erotic flowers and
skulls but the whole range of her long career (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28300-CW, July 20 at 2157, E marker and DE KF4MS/B; per WJ5O
roster is:
28.300 KF4MS C TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA # 100W, VERTICAL reactivated 26
Sept 10, power adj 21 Feb 16 --- That`ll have to do as sporadic E MUF
lacked the FM band today upon several chex. His QRZ.com page:

``KF4MS USA flag USA --- DENNIS R AINSWORTH, Tallahassee, FL 32310 USA
--- Rick Ainsworth, KF4MS (Advanced Class). I own and operate the
Templar Beacon aka "Florida Ten Meter Beacon, on 28.300 MHz",
(24/7/365) currently at 10 watts using dedicated beacon design by
AA7DJ, Valadimir Skyrpnik. It's an All in One, Keyer and Transmitter
unit up to a Solarcon vertical antenna at 33 feet. I have been a
beacon owner/operator since 1982`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2095 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday July 20 at
1330 on WRMI 15770, JBA S7; following at least two canned IDs at 1329.
Despite Jeff Bezos trying to upstage me. Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW

** U S A. 4840, July 20 at 0617, dead air again from this WWCR on
S9+30 carrier, no TOMBS but 3215 and 5890 remain nominal along with
5935 DGS. Why should anyone at WWCR listen to their own broadcasts in
order to fix this immediately?? Surely a refund goes to Walterboro, as
obviously WWCR`s fault (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9980, July 20, as I tune across at 1419, someone at TOM on
WWCR says ``Brother Stair is the meekest of all men on the face of the
earth``. Guffaw2. As always huge daytime signal, but some squeal on
the plus side. I think this is ACI from KVM70, Honolulu fax, as per
EiBi at 0519-1600 on 9982.5. That is regular at night when there is no
QRM:
9982.5 0519-1600 HWA KVM70 Fax Honolulu Oc nm
Amazing that KVM70 agreed to the 12-16 UT overlap with WWCR; or did no
one ask them? EiBi also shows this; what`s Cothen? A town in Utrecht
province, Netherlands, where Bach spent some time; but this?
9982 0000-2400 USA COTHEN ALE USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Re my repeated logs of JBA carrier on 4975, Ron Howard,
CA says July 20, ``BTW - UNID (SoAm?) on 4975, again heard with a
prominent carrier, but no audio detected, at 0525 & 0730. Ron``

And Rafael Rodríguez R., Bogotá, replies, here translated, original
Spanish in the WOR iog:

``Cordial greetings, A few short lines to tell you about the clues I
have about the unit on 4975 kHz: Since the beginning of the month
(approx. July 4) I have received the carrier at 4975 kHz; at first I
thought it was the European pirate Mystery Radio that I had already
heard on 60 meters a few days before, and then in HF Underground I saw
information about the pirate Radio Deltracks, but at the time they
reported tuning, I did not agree, before 22 UT.

The signal that appears at 4975 is captured after approximately 2330,
thus checking through several KiwiSDR in Europe and more precisely in
Holland at that time and after 00 UT, nothing is heard from Radio
Deltracks; the carrier is not even detected. At the same time,
traveling through various KiwiSDRs in America, only those close to the
Caribbean area capture the carrier.

On the other hand, there is a Colombian pirate operating at 6016.7 kHz
approx. not every day between 2300 to 0200 var. with varied music, and
sometimes broadcasting signals from radio stations such as Olímpica
Stéreo, Caracol, W Radio or Blu Radio. It has been on the air since
mid-March, but then in May and June was off the air, resuming
broadcasts two weeks ago. To the KiwiSDR of Bonaire it arrives very
well which makes me think that this is from the north coast of
Colombia. Sometimes there is some locution but otherwise are only long
waves of music. In April I was able to catch a name "El Prado Radio
Organization" see
6016.4 KHz El Prado Radial Organization - Colombian pirate station,
http://dxdesdecolombia.blogspot.com/2021/04/60164-khz-organizacion-radial-el-prado.html
but only at that time I heard that identification; they have not used
it again. They have mentioned operating at 98.1 MHz. Rafael Rodríguez
R., Bogotá, Colombia``

Lots more good info on his blog. I`ve yet to catch any trace around
6016 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2095 monitoring: NOT confirmed
Sunday July 18 at 2000 on IRRS via AM Italia, 918 kHz, Villa Estense;
rather IRRS ID, and back to music, S9+25 including noise level at
Noale SDR.

Confirmed Sunday July 18 at 2200 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 minus 111 Hz
= 6158.889 kHz into Maine SDR. 6160 presumably had been on all day now
with TOMBS but at 2157 tune-in the usual The Planet ID and IS loop was
playing. At 2200 cut back to TOMBS for a few sex before WOR start at
S9+10.

Also confirmed Sunday July 18 at 2250 the 2230 on WRMI 9955, S8-S9
over a trace of pulse jamming, into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 19 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 19 at 0130 on WRN N America webcast.

Also confirmed UT Monday July 19 at 0230 on WRMIs: 5800 into Bonaire
SDR but some squeal in USB & LSB modes at S6-S8 but S9+10/15 in AM
mode; and 7780, S9+10 into UTwente Holland SDR. Both were playing
Cuban music until the 0229.5 ID. Next:

** U S A. 9330.043, July 19 at 0532, JBA talk, presumed an old WBCQ
unit typically off-frequency, substituting for broken SuperStation
with wacko World`s Last Chance Radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Previous report about WTWW said 9950: typo for 9940 (gh)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4975, July 19 at 0232 via Bonaire SDR, weak carrier
S4-S5 in LSB-narrow mode vs 4980 WRMI splash; in SAM mode carrier
offset varies plus 5 to minus 1 Hz. Maybe a trace of modulation on
4975. Could be Latin American rather than European (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6115, July 19 at 0531, JBA carrier: very intriguing, as
CONGO Brazzaville was reported to have permanently closed down SW
several months ago, but this used to be a possible time to hear it.
The only other 6115 at this hour is R. Nikkei-2, JAPAN, but it`s
awfully early before sunset there especially in summer: 0953! UT.
Also, there is NO signal on clear 6055, sibling R. Nikkei-1; both of
which are supposed to be on air during long span. BTW, WRTH classifies
these SW as National only, not International (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

6000 and 5040. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, UT Sun July 18 during pre-bedtime relaxation?
KUCO-FM Edmond which is supposed to be relaying overnight classical
music from WCPE in NC, instead at 0537-0549 is firing its canned ID,
the same one over and over, every few minutes, long dead air, bit of
some classical music, and again. Finally Kimberly announces that they
are in backup programming while maintenance is underway. She
introduces the same fill music again but it`s always being
interrupted. I time starts of several IDs at these separations: 4:19,
2:20, 2:19, 2:25 minutes. They are joint with two satellites likely
affected same way: 91.9 KBCW McAlester, and 95.9 KCSC Woodward.
Probably kept doing this all night like last time; when I spread the
word as a defacto meteor scatter DX test, but then there were nothing
but IDs back-to-back every 34 seconds (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WBCQ check via Maine SDR, July 18 at 1927: TOMBS S7-S9 on
7490 -92 Hz = 7489.908; S7-S9 also on 6160 -113 Hz = 6158.887; S8-S9
on 4790 -27 Hz = 4789.973; zero on 3265 which was also off yesterday;
JBA carrier on 9330, S2 including noise level. Homepage still has
nothing about 4790! Schedule page concerns only 7490, 6160 and 9330.
All times are mislabeled EST instead of EDT, but are correctly 4 hours
behind UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, July 18 at 0614, WTWW-2 on late as happens
unpredictably, Ted interviewing an author about UFOs. Is this
considered part of his ham radio block, not rock music, or just
off-the-wall? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (91.7), July 18 before and after 0500 UT, KALW San Francisco
webcast during `Tangents` eclectic music and ethnic show which is one
of my favorites, host Dore Stein informs that from next week Tangents
will be cut in half, two hours instead of four, 05-07 UT Sun instead
of 03-07. Newish GM is revamping programming with 6 new DJs on
weeknights, 03-07 UT which somehow requires cutting down older shows
on weekends. He plays clips of her justifications and contradicts
them. Feels it is unfair and counterproductive to reduce his hours by
50%. A lot of the KALW schedule contains non-local shows duplicated on
KQED et al. Dore also explains about this in his own newsletter, which
I posted on the WOR iog. Also sent it to the internetradio hcdx group
but it bounced as ``too big`` pending approval. Too bad, since there
is so little traffic on that list anyway. More at
https://www.tangents.com and https://www.kalw.org/ (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
