Some MWDxing morning via Tambov 8/2 The bans ifvacant from radios stations that time 954 TRT trabzondiscussion between two men at 0835 Signal is poor but reached zeroon 0848 733 beacon “…- …-“ VV with signal S10 at 850 693 beacon “.-.-..” A(?) with signal S9 at 0854 1695 apirate? 0855 S4 only talks between the operator and another under neath with rissinamusic 1413 Vesti FM , Russian also marginal at S3 at 09z PL330 and via local SdR : 15770 at 1305 and then checked with my PL330 bto bemarginal over the high local noise . Immediately I changed reception to thelocal SDR with slightly better SDR with maxsignal at S7 using my smartphone, as it was a bit late lunch time i used web SDR in twente fore better reception. In both SDRs the signal was suffered by QRM from a TTY signal of 50bd on 3=3 kHlower . in Twente QRM was even higher Netting on the band instead of lone listening? https://zachs-radiopage.blogspot.com/2021/01/sdr-pc-advantages-over-standard.html Zacharias LiangasAirspyHF+Discovery with SDRConsole &2x16 mΛ &3x9m Δ Icom R75 /PL380 / De1103 radios https://www.youtube.com/user/zach0gr/about my main web pages _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs February 7-8, 2022 |
|
Wednesday, February 09 2022
** AUSTRALIA. 2368.43, Feb 8 at 2102, S4-S5 with fades of Greek songs past 2125 via VK2GGC SDR, R. Symban. There has been lots of good discussion about this by nearby Aussies in the WOR iog (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. 15190.10, Feb 8 at 2323, JBA S1-S5 of talk, music? Even so it seems undermodulated. I`m confident it`s R. Inconfidência, Belo Horizonte on its signature off-frequency. That`s a strange name for a radio station if you go by its translations in my Langenscheidt dixionary: ``disloyalty, infidelity, unfaithfulness`` --- perhaps a quite different contextual meaning or historical connotation in General Mines? 11780, Feb 8 at 2322, no signal from RNA, but VG on 6180. Wonder if on the way to installing pure DRM, after successful? low-power but high-gain tests a year ago on 11905 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11880, Feb 8 at 2258, RHC English is back today after AWOL yesterday, S9+20 but deep fades to S6, just concluding item about ballet and De Falla music I wish I had heard; ``Ed Newman`` outro as first of two hours, but second hour will not follow immediately in current scheduling (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9899.606, Feb 7 at 2131 check via UTwente, R. Cairo in S9+40+ of dead air except for some hum; and occasional bursts of extremely distorted Englishy talk. Something`s always egregious in Egypt. 9899.606, Feb 8 at 2119, S9+30/40 of big hum but constant suptorted modulation of music and talk, also UTwente. Ditto (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Feb 8 at 2321, VOT English is on today, S9/+20 direct but undermodulated on the squealing transmitter. Recheck at 2345 on my other radio, better mod level in music but still squealy. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 515 MCW kHz, Feb 8 at 0732 UT, OS, 25 watt ND beacon at Ohio State, Columbus; JBA in additional high noise level here; in continued absence of PN Ponca City OK from 515 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2124 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday February 8 at 2330 on WRMI 9955, S9+10 direct, no jamming audible. Next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support. Thanks this week to Joe Caberlin, Port Colborne, Ontario for some US$ to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 7772-7784 approx., Feb 8 at 2315, WRMI 7780 is battered by clicking OTH radar; WRMI already weak here off the side. Seemingly aimed right against it, or just doesn`t care. 7570, Feb 8 at 2316, this WRMI has very different QRM problem, roaring noise but unlike DRM; nominally aimed NW right at us, WRMI is also much weaker than usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VATICAN [non]. 9580, Feb 8 at 2313, 1 kHz tone. Must be VR prior to 2315-2400 Vietnamese via USAGM PHILIPPINES, violating Separation of Church & State. For those who don`t care, let me explain that the USG is showing extreme favoritism to one particular religion, thus opening itself up to demands from far less savoury gospel huxters for time on our secular transmitters. That it`s an ``exchange`` for SMG airtime is beside the point, an equal violation. BTW, Aoki shows that Taiwan in Korean is also on 9580 at 2300-2330 but not heard even tho its beaming would be more favorable for us (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4095.7, Feb 8 at 0730, upward sweeps are JBA, i.e. the Desert Whooper beacon which intersperses CW IDs as DW. I often hear it like this without relogging. For some reason DW on Feb 6 reposted to HCDX a last August reply to me with background info about it: http://www.hard-core-dx.com/article.php?story=20220206181502578&mode=print (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11689.90 approx., Feb 7 at 2311, S7-S3 open carrier like at 1531, now measured on my other receiver. On the KiwiSDR network, Feb 8 at 0021 I try to locate it by TDOA; measured now by Missouri remote at -74.8 to -74.9 Hz below, i.e. 11689.925. And by Maryland at -74.7 to -75.0, S5. I pick four locations, Brazil, Rio Grande Valley, NE USA and northern Utah: TDOA leads to ``probably`` in the North Atlantic``; delete the Utah one and try again: ``north Pacific``! Obviously useless, no point in quoting the exact imaginary coördinates; then I realize that TDOA may depend on modulation timing, so no good anyway on open carriers. Next day Feb 8 circa 1530 check, no signal circa 11690. Of the known occupants of 11690, the one most likely off-frequency is Madagascar. Now at 2034 February 8, UTwente is getting it on 11689.914 at S7 --- with RTTY. So it`s not a broadcaster but a usually idle RTTY outlet leaving the carrier on. Intruder! Anyway. Still clattering away at 2307. Next step is to search the UDXF iog, on 11689. -- immediately comes up a thread from August *2006* started by me, but mainly about two other frequencies, 7455 and 9960: https://groups.io/g/UDXF/topic/3508999#3014 Search on 11690 gets most of the same, nothing new, disregarding 11690 as a 5-digit cypher group rather than frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0059 UT February 9 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs February 6-7, 2022 |

Monday, February 07 2022
** CHINA. 7500, Feb 6 at 2238, Chinese JBA S7-S8, presumably CNR1 jammer as always more likely to be heard than target, in this case VOA via Thailand this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11880, Feb 6 at 2236, NO signal from RHC in English. 11850 is on but dead air or trace of modulation, wiggle that patchcord, flanked by parasitic JBA spur on 11840. 9710 modulates Spanish, nothing on 13 MHz band now. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9899.60, Feb 6 at 2234 check direct, R. Cairo with S7-S8 of dead air in English. As usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 515 MCW kHz, Feb 7 at 0220 UT, PN, 25 watt ND beacon at PoNca City is OFF again. Guess we are in for a spell of intermittency. Still off at 0702, 1524. See USA for a 517 log (Glenn Hauser, Enid,, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Re 1650, ``KYHN`` report: Oops! Current call is KFSW; one shouldn`t believe anything from Red Eye Radio. ``The Cross`` 98.7 which is duplicated on 1650, does not admit to carrying RER on its woefully incomplete ``program schedule``. Does brand itself as serving ``Arklahoma`` rather than ``Oklansas`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Feb 6 at 2311, NO signal from VOT English even unto UTwente, nor the ChiCom. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 517 MCW kHz, Feb 7 at 0702 UT, FN, 25 watt NDB at Clinton / Hills, Iowa, now definitely copied while 515 PN PC OK is off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2124 monitoring: confirmed Sunday February 6 at 2100 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, Villa Estense, S9+10 steady into nearby Noale SDR, no CCI except for lite medium SAH from something; unless a bit narrowed, some ACI from RNE-5 Castilian on 1314, Romanian Actuality on 1332. Confirmed Sunday February 6 at 2330 on WRMI 5950, S9+30 into Knoxville. Also confirmed UT Monday February 7 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct. Almost missed check 0400v UT Mon Feb 7 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160-, but tuned in at 0432 via Maryland remote, JBA sounds like my intonation, if starting a bit late; then bringing up webcast, ``General Underseas Service of Partial India Radio``; pirate I guess provided by HRI as scheduled. Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?] 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support. Thanks this week to Joe Caberlin, Port Colborne, Ontario for some US$ to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A.. 9940, Feb 6 at 2235, surprise, WTWW active on this rarely used frequency, not 9930. S9+25 with gospel huxter, presumably SFAW but no way I`m going to listen long enough to verify that. 5085 is also on early this Sunday, Ted expressing piety to a caller, in a ham radio show? No other possible frequencies active: 5830, 9475, 9930, 15810. Why not the usual 9475 for SFAW WTWW-1 programming? Something`s looney at Lebanon. HFCC never breaks down by individual transmitters but for WTWW has three different antenna azimuths each with a possible pair: 40 degrees: 9940, 15810 [#3 by default] 50 degrees: 5830, 9475 [#1] 180 degrees: 5085, 9930 [#2] But we won`t believe the #3 transmitter be operable unless WTWW ever heard on three frequencies at once (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1460, Feb 6 at 2242 UT, surprised to hear English RCC discussion instead of Spanish KZUE El Reno OK; on E-W antenna, but some signs of KZUE QRM on the N/S. Must be KHOJ ``Heart of Jesus`` with EWTN, skywaving 12 kW day power and pattern broadly thisaway SW from St. Charles MO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11689.924, Feb 7 at 1531, S2-S3 open carrier. Nothing listed now in EiBi, Aoki or HFCC. At other hours on ``11690``, East Turkistan, Guam, Madagascar; and Finland at this hour if it were first Saturday for SWR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1729 UT February 7 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs February 5-6, 2022 |
|
Sunday, February 06 2022
** ANDORRA [non]. 7400, Feb 5 at 2157, another Radio Andorra Revival special for a bihour, this time via ARMENIA. S9+5/15 into UTwente, signal good but modulation level fading down and up, and it`s quite lo-fi, deficient feed to site? Zach Liangas had same reaxion:
``Andorra 7400 final report! 7400 heard at 2133 via local SDR with S9 signal but rather poor reception with lots of local noise and with very trebly sound. Rather under modulated as like someone turned off Dolby while playing a cassette and with full treble! Spectrum analyzer shows that very clearly. In my radio it's much more noise. Check in central Italy with S10 and splitter in the lab with very trebly sound lacking bass and up to 35 db of fades. Also test in Brasília with signal to S10 but strong fading -- Zacharias Liangas, Temp Litohoron, Greece`` in the WOR iogroup. Anyhow. at my check there was conversation in French rather than music. First of four airings earlier at 12-14 UT across N America on WRMI 5850 should have been well received here if anyone were awake. It seems this is a really big deal in Europe among fans of R. Andorra way back when. I did QSL it 62 years ago direct on 5972 kHz: http://www.w4uvh.net/andorra1.jpg http://www.w4uvh.net/andorra2.jpg (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, February 5 at 1544 tune-in, LRA36 is on! this Saturday to belie my WOR 2124 remark that it had not been appearing Saturdays, correct as of then. Via Brazil SDRs: Pardinho is still not getting it: antenna broken? Only S2-S3 into Campo and about the same to Brasília #2. Music at first, 1545.5 ``Nacional, la Radio Pública`` ID. 1552, LRA36 ID; still 1619 another ID but fading to JBA music, 1628 ``NLRP``, 1650 trace; 1715 now better into Campo with Antártida themesong past 1709; recheck at 1748 now gone. I later see that Sam Sánchez, Orygun in the WOR iog heard it first at 1352 today via same remotes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5040, Feb 5 at 0720, RHC Spanish is still on here, S9+40. This happens so often that we wonder if it`s intentional rather than accidental. One STL is still carrying English past 0700, today at 0722 check, into 6060 which is S9+20/30 and no humbuzz! and only 9700, S9+10 with usual anti-American propaganda unworthy of detailing. Something`s always wrong at RHC. The Other Side: ``Cuban pastors and 11J: A turning point in the repression of evangelicals --- Yoe Suárez La Habana 29 Ene 2022 - 04:16 CET Although clashes with the State and acts of punishment or intimidation of these churches had multiplied since then, they had not escalated to the point where a large number of pastors were imprisoned for days, weeks or months. Until ‘11J’ came along...`` https://diariodecuba.com/derechos-humanos/1643426194_37148.html ``Crime in socialist Cuba: the economic crisis fuels crime, but it is not the only cause - DIARIO DE CUBA spoke with Cuban lawyers Julio Fernández Estrada and Laritza Diversent, and Mexican professor Vidal Romero --- Yusimí Rodríguez López, Madrid 02 Feb 2022 - 19:14 CET Why has crime increased in Cuba in recent months? Is it an effect of the increase in poverty? Are the regime's grip on power and the delay in the democratic transition threatening citizen security? DIARIO DE CUBA talked to two Cuban lawyers and a Mexican professor about these questions...`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1643825652_37234.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, UT Sun Feb 6 at 0727, this RHC English remains on at S9+30, maybe to prolong until 0830 with weekly Esperanto? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAIPAN. 11550, Feb 6 at 1550 tune-in, surprised to hear English ID, ``You are listening to Radio Free Asia --`` and back into Korean, scheduled 1500-1900 via Agignan Point (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2124 monitoring: Confirmed Sat Feb 5 at 1700 on WRN North America webcast. Also confirmed Saturday February 5 at 2032 UT already underway on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, VG into nearby KB0FX SDR; and ending at 2056, so started circa 2027. Altho most of my opening billboard country roster has to be cut because of the music, that time is made up for by interruptions every dekaminute for WA0RCR IDs, FCC requirements. Also confirmed UT Sunday February 6 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG S9+20 into Missouri remote. Distracted, I missed checking the WA0RCR 1860 AM airing nominal 0415 UT Sun Feb 6; did anyone hear it? As usual, slept thru the 1330 Sunday Feb 6 on WMRI Europe via Channel 292, Germany, 9670; did anyone hear it? Next: 2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 5950 to NNW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?] 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support. Thanks this week to Joe Caberlin, Port Colborne, Ontario for some US$ to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Feb 6 at 0052.6, WTWW ends hamstuff for canned ID treating snippet of Star Spangled Banner as if it were a jingle, but not into `Theatre Organ Under The Arch`, as often happens at odd hour, and for which I was checking. Instead filled with rock music and a couple more of same ID, until axually starting at 0100! As if trying to begin it at hourtop for a change. Unfortunately it`s also time for `Encore` classical music on WRMI 5850, so over to that for me; as TOUTA also clashes with The Giant Jukebox on 5960 and Texas Radio Shortwave on 5950 in the Saturday evening musicglut. I do listen to second hour of TRSW blues at 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505.052, Feb 6 at 0720, WRNO unusually off-frequency and undermodulated in English, music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 620, Feb 6 at 0708 UT, KTNO ID as ``Radio Luz, Dalas``, then rabid Spanish gospel huxter. KTNO is dominant here on the frequency hijacked from KWFT Wichita Falls TX, which was a good talk station; I was even on its program schedule P-mailing list for years. In Spanish you would pronounce it ``Dah-yahss`` with two Ls. CoL is axually Plano, and physical address in Irving (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6018 approx., Feb 5 at 0724, very rapid FSK/RTTY, a new intruder while the slower 6114 one is absent. At least not QRMing any broadcaster except the jamming spillover from 6030! Probably unrelated, but look at this in the WOR iog from ``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, Log in Friol: UNKNOWN, Mexican? station, 6017, heard for about ten minutes, 0605-0615*, 06-02, Mexican songs, at 0614 anthem, I think was the Mexican National Anthem and close. Weak but clear signal here in Friol, also checked via SDR Kiwi remote receiver in Iceland and exactly the same frequency, 6017 kHz with a bit better signal, via Pardhino, Brazil, no signal`` Well, Radio Mil, XEOI, used to be on 6010, gone for many years. Its AM base on 1000, XEOY is now ``Stereo Cien`` as an FM simulcast. BTW, in Spanish the calls are clever: OY can be pronounced ``oye`` = listen, and OI = ``oí``, I listened. Of course, Aoki has never removed ``6010 XEOI Núcleo Radio Mil``, daily 22-05 UT! The last definite log of it I can find is Sept 23, *2013* by Ron Howard with a recording on 6009.97. At that time, had been reactivated on evening-only schedule after a previous absence (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. RF 10, 12, 31, 35, Feb 5 at 1550 UT, BAD DTV signals into the STB, none decoding. Both tropo maps call for a lot of level 1-2 enhancement around here today and next week: it`s been frigid, but a little warmup over snowpack sets it off. At of 15 UT, area affected is most of OK and eastern KS. However tropo maps the next morning Feb 6 show much less of it expected (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1955 UT February 6 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
