** BRAZIL. 10000, Nov 2 at 2229, pips every 10 seconds under WWV, and
confirmed on USB only, not LSB, as from PPE, O.N., Rio (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 15034-USB, Nov 2 at 1836 UT, Trenton Military timecheck as
1735 zulu, no report received from some but not all. Will resumption
of standard time get their clock back in whack? NO! Nov 3 at 1451,
still 61 minutes slow as ``1350 zulu`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CHINA [non]. 15700, Nov 3 at 1447, CRI English via CUBA is S9+20
with good if not full modulation for a change (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13766 & 13633 approx., Sunday Nov 3 at 1442, RHC amid `En
Contacto` at ``sección técnica`` with Arnie, FMish spurblobs out of
13700-AM, but first-order only, none heard further out; and 13740-AM
is also still on. At 1450 transitioning to medical show, also on 15230
suptorted S9. and good modulation on 15140, S9+10/20.

So as a running dog of Yanqui imperialism, matching DST offdate with
Miami gusanos, RHC has made its annual timeshift, the Spanish DX
program at 1435 ex-1335; and which will also affect other Spanish
programming, and many other but not all language broadcasts; also any
significant frequency changes post B-19 for the rest of us should now
start emerging by monitoring if not RHC website skeds still from B-18*
season displayed thru A-19!
http://www.radiohc.cu/interesantes/frecuencias
Something`s always wrong at RHC.

First airing of English should now be at 2000 ex-1900, but still on
15140? Before 1900 Nov 3, 11760 & 15140 both in Spanish; after 1900,
11760 off and 15140 continues in Arabic, ex-1800 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, Sun Nov 3 at 1501, RHC still in Spanish. 15140 OK //
11760 overmodulation distortion at 1627, RHC in Esperanto, so expected
one-hour-later shift of that weekly language to 1600 is confirmed. Two
other airings will have to be confirmed Sundays circa 0700? 2230? on
whoknowswhat frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 13605, Nov 3 at 1445, wall-of-noise jamming remains
here a week after totally predictable and public B-19 Radio Martí
change to 13820 which is VG unjammed during song in English lyric ``I
know`` over and over. Something`s always wrong at DCJC.

11860 Grimesland VG and weaker // 11930, Nov 3 at 1456, RM ending song
vs no jammings here either, into oft-heard PSA about the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, which the Republic of Cuba sponsored and
ratified at the UN, Dec 10, 1948, dig dig about lack of H.R. in Cuba
since (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non?]. 9890, Nov 2 at 2224, NHK in Japanese, VG S9/S9+25
peaks. Still hard to believe this be direct from Yamata as scheduled
aimed away from us; rather an eastern relay like Madagascar or Europe;
signal equivalent to 9690 Spain, and as strong or even stronger than
9505 WHRI, 9395/9455/9955 WRMI. No other E Asian signals on band
anything like this (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 11985, Nov 2 at 2127, ``Battle Hymn of the Republic``
on organ, nice rendition if politically incorrect, and VG signal until
2128.5* off with no announcement. B-19 listed as AWR at 2100 in
Nigerian Pidgin, 250 kW, 305 degrees also USward from Talata (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF-16, Nov 3 at 1515 UT, routine DTV bandscan finds no
signal from Daystar`s KOCM ``46`` in OKC market; it`s normally weaker,
but seems to be off as everything else is normal, and no tropo DX. Or
underpowered? By 1740 a Bad bar occasionally appears on the STB (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 4775-, Nov 2 at 2329, JBA carrier, also later in evening into
UT Nov 3; R. Tarma was just reported at 2228-2301+ ID by Bruce
Churchill with a good signal on 4774.9 into Iceland SDR, assumed the
new 2 kW transmitter, and no Congonhas; but no better here and still
off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PHILIPPINES. 9335, Nov 2 at 2221, poor signal in Khmer, USAGM via
Tinang, due west. Nothing on 9330 WBCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 12030, Nov 3 at 1457, REE IS and sign-on for weekend sked,
best here off the back of ME beam tho with some long-path echo, as REE
has never figured out that North America needs a higher full-day
frequency than 9690, which is poor S3-S7 also echoing; first audible
on 11940 to S America also weaker than 12030; and detected on 11685,
new African frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 11815, Nov 3 at 1454, silly ballgame coverage with
enthusiastic crowd noise, S9 but SAH of 5 or 6 Hz. Still gamy at 1500.
It`s VOT in Turkish as now sked 14-17 UT at 310 degrees USward,
overcoming NHK in Japanese at 10-17. Before 1400 TRT is on 15350
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 15460, Sunday Nov 3 at 1448, African song, good S9-S7.
HFCC shows USAGM, i.e. VOA in Kinyarwanda, via VATICAN Sat & Sun only
1400-1500; violating Separation of Church & State (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also PHILIPPINES

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2006 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov,
Bulgaria reports that none of the Hamburger Lokalradio broadcasts were
on the air this Sat or Sun. Also absent last week. What`s going on? I
have inquired of HLR, but no reply. From website, this ``ticker`` item
implying it is current or late news altho not dated. Does this affect
shortwave?

http://www.hamburger-lokalradio.de/

HLR – Ticker
„Liebe Hörerinnen und Hörer, bedingt durch eine schwere Erkrankung
unseres Chefredakteurs ist der Programmablauf ein wenig anders, als
sie es von uns vielleicht gewohnt sind! Wir bemühen uns aber weiterhin
Ihnen ein hoffentlich unterhaltsames Programm zu präsentieren! Danke
für Ihr Verständnis! Ihr Team vom Hamburger Lokalradio“

translated: "Dear female and male listeners, Due to a serious illness
of our editor in chief, the program is a little different than you may
be used to from us! We are still trying to present you a hopefully
entertaining program! Thank you for your understanding! Your team from
Hamburger Lokalradio". Is this about Herr Kraske? We hope he is
recovering!

New secret WOR broadcast on WRMI 15770, Saturday 1300 since Oct 12:
``Reception of World of Radio#2006 via WRMI-09 on November 2:

1300-1330 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg to WeEu English Sat, fair``

Not confirmed on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO. Checked at 0330 UT
Sunday November 3, but at 0333 `This Week in Amateur Radio` starts and
runs all the way to 0455 (with ID breaks inserted every dekaminute),
then `Amateur Radio Newsline`, and 0513 `Handi-Ham World`. Maybe WOR
ran earlier around 0300, or really late, or not at all? I`ve asked
Vern, and how early/late WOR could appear because of other
programs/podcasts of variable length. The ones I heard and WOR are not
cited on the outdated? WA0RCR websked. TWIAR`s podcast site
http://twiar.net/?paged=2
shows this week`s duration was supposed to be only 1:09; the weeks
before, 1:22 and 1:33. Note: if 10:15 pm Sat remain the nominal time
for WOR, from next week due to CST instead of CDT that will be 0415 UT
Sunday. Next:

2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Monday WRMI 9395 to NNW, 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRN webcast & satellite [already last week]
0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 6160v? [ex-0300] to WSW
0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [ex-0330] to SSE
1902 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania [ex-1816] to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v [ex-2100] to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

[to be updated shortly for standard season]
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5800, Sat Nov 2 at 2212, WRMI poor S3-S7 in English lexure,
music, presumably SMTV this hour; while 5950 is TOMBS. Ivo Ivanov
reports that as of Nov 3, WRMI is on 6060 ex-5800 at 2100-0200, as
originally planned a week earlier. I did not notice WRMI (or RHC) on
6060 early UT Nov 3. The skedgrid at
http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIfqs
now dated Nov *4* does show XMTR 3 on 6060 at 0000-0200, but still on
5800 at 2100-2400! (Glenn Hauser, OK, Nov 3, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15770, Sun Nov 3 at 1446, WRMI with SMTV, indicating this
frequency will stay on same UT, i.e. variety programming hours still
13-14 & 20-21 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Sat Nov 2 at 1834, JBA carrier is the OSOB, so seems
despite fires/power outages, KVOH English is on today if not really
propagating (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Nov 3 at 0012 tune-in, WTWW-2 with `Theatre
Organ in the Ozarx` in progress, VG signal, but I immediately bring up
the stereo webcast. Soon obvious it`s an episode heard two or three
times before, Bob Heil with his Johnny Carson story at 0014.

Nice tunes but we are a bit tired of hearing the same ones again and
again. How about something new, like a song you have never heard on
organ or would never expect to? VG audio on webcast until the canned
outro at 0038-0039 with distorted sound. If about 35 minutes long,
must have started circa 0004 UT. Website still claims this show is at
8 pm Saturdays; no timezone, but everything else is expressed in
Central, i.e. UT-5 now, UT-6 henceforth. For a while it was really
starting circa 2330 UT Saturdays. Have not heard TOITO for several
weeks in sporadic chex, but might have missed it; just ham radio
stuff. Of course, TOITO appears here because Heil is also a well-known
ham (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 10000, Nov 1 at 0651, WWV and WWVH are equally weak,
allowing one to detect, especially during their atonal minutes,
exactly synchronized time pips every dekaseond, with continuous talk
in between. Can`t read the language announcements but format must be
PPE, Observatório Nacional, Rio, which may have been off for a while,
but recently reported at other hours by Manuel Méndez, Spain, and
Harold Frodge, Michigan. The 0652 minute marred by WWVH announcement
about hearing them via an 808 phone number --- but could that be
anywhere nearly as accurate as direct via SW? It`s not unusual for
WWV/H not to be propagating well inside North America, so keep an ear
out for PPE, WRTH-listed as 1 kW, 24 hours on AM+USB. Little heard now
inside 31m SWBC but the Brazilians on 9630v, 9665v and maybe 9819v
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2006, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 9640, Oct 30 at 2219, RHC Spanish here but only
poor, despite shift to 9630 yesterday. 2326 recheck, 9640 is quite
undermodulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC. That clears 9630.389
for always-off-frequency R. Aparecida, BRASIL in Brazuguese at 2220
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2006, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11980, Oct 30 at 2327, CRI relay is S6 but dead air as second
harmonic of 5990 which is S9+10, occasional trace of modulation trying
to break in. Wiggle that patchcord. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENIING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Oct 31 at 0622, RHC English is off; leaving 6100 S9+10
but JBM, while this time 6165 is S9+20 with sufficient modulation.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, Nov 1 at 1334, RHC is S5 here on second harmonic of
6000, which is S9+10; almost as if intentionally harmonicizing; at
least both of these happen to be in-band. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, Nov 1 at 2159, RHC is JBM. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, Nov 1 at 2208, RHC seems AWOL tho there is a JBA
carrier from algo, listed CRI Spanish via EAST TURKISTAN, land of
brainwashing Uighurs; and not on 9630 either, but usual poor signal on
9535. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 7335, Oct 31 at 0618, heavy noise jamming against
nothing, since Radio Martí is not on this frequency anywhen in B-19.
7365 likewise, despite with RM for only one hour, 01-02. 7435 *is*
active now, VG despite some pulse jamming now audible underneath.
Something`s always wrong at the DentroCuban Jamming Command.

5980, Oct 31 at 0624, RM now starts here at 0600, VG S9+10 and no
jamming audible yet/now, relating Human Rights to warning about the
Chikungunya virus in Cuba (which has also reached Florida). 5980 is
now much better than 6030 with heavy jamming. Something`s always wrong
at the DCJC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. 6165, Oct 31 at 1421, JBA carrier, presumably NHK 1400
English, 100 kW SSE from UZBEKISTAN; only other frequency is 11925,
registered both as Palau due west and UAE due east. Palau is
supposedly closing down, at least for WHR`s own programming, but still
a JBA carrier here with flutter, very slightly on the minus side,
which implies UAE rather than Palau. Gone are the days when North
Americans had a chance of hearing NHK English tnx to Palau, despite
Radio Japan`s blowing off its NAm SW audience years ago.

11925 rechecked November 1 at 1336, when also registered from both
sites for the half-sesquihour NHK Indonesian before English, still JBA
carrier with flutter, but measured this time: 11924.988, vs heavy
splash from 11930 OCB Grimesland (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
2006, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 3905, 3930, 3980, 4450, 4885, 6520, 6595, 9100, Nov 1
at 1324-1326, quick survey of some of the Voice of People/Echo of Hope
jumparound frequencies finds JBA carriers, and/or in some cases
jamming noise. Also something on 3990-, probably PBS Gannan; and 4557,
N Korean jamming against nothing per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Nov 1 at 1339, JBA talk the only signal in
the Kurdo-Turco sub-band, so presumably Dengê Welat and/or Radio Recep
Erdogan.

Note this report of their higher frequency: ``Both stations were also
heard on 15175 - difficult to separate - at 1045 past 1100 UT today
the 1st of November at good strength. Noel R. Green [NW England]``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) see TURKEY

** MEXICO. 6185, Oct 31 at 0621, S9-S7 of open carrier; presumably
XEPPM still not turned off after nominal closing at 0600 instead of
0500 during DST, already over in most of Mexico. Prolonged carriers
post-sign-off are not unusual from them.

What CCI must Radio Educación listeners confront in B-19? Worst will
be AWR Turkish via Austria at 0400-0430. During our daytimes, when
XEPPM may be on but too weak anyway, there is heavy 6185 usage by
Vatican and some by Turkey, China/Albania including 2300-2400 Xian
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, Nov 1 at 0654, RNZI music is S7-S5, hardly
anything else on 25m except maybe some ZY carriers; now scheduled
0559-0758, preceded by 15720, proceeded by 9765 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1580, Nov 1 at 2158 UT, KOKB Blackwell is back on with ad
for Charlie`s Discount Drug in Stillwater, much weaker than // 1020
KOKP, seems underpowered. It was not on by sunrise today when KQFN AZ
came thru on 1580, see U S A (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** PALAU. 15675, Oct 31 at 0001, no signal from T8WH, altho in HFCC
B-19 as HBN, 00-06 daily, due west in English/Vietnamese (and same
06-11 on 15680). What service could that be? Checking these highest
listed frequencies of T8WH, since the World Harvest Radio website says
as of Oct 27, WHR broadcasts only from South Carolina.

So is Palau totally off the air including relays? No, on Nov 1,
several monitors still hear them on frequencies in the 9.9s. All of
those are registered as 7 days a week, but likely excessive beyond
axual usage. Aoki/NDXC dated Nov 1 has deleted them all:
http://www1.m2.mediacat.ne.jp/binews/us/userlist1.txt
The final A-19 schedule still had numerous PLW entries, like 9930:
http://www1.s2.starcat.ne.jp/ndxc/pc/ad/userlist1.txt

Beware: WHRI Cypress Creek could easily take over some listed T8WH
frequencies, altho coverage into Asia would hardly be comparable:

``I heard WHR at 1200 on 9930. But was it really from Palau? The
announcement mentioned Cypress Creek…. [and WHRI]
http://jm.aubier.pagesperso-orange.fr/t8wh3.mp3
Jean-Michel Aubier, France``

I`ve been told that the Palau site is for sale. If so, maybe USAGM
will buy it, as they have a history of acquiring failed private
American stations in the Pacific; but then, SW is going out of style
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2006, DX LISTENING DIGEST) see also
JAPAN [non]

** SAUDI ARABIA. 9675, Oct 31 at 1808, continuous talk VP S4-S6,
listed as Turkish from SRI/SBA. Not much else from over there on this
band at this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 7425, Nov 1 at 2210, Qur`an poor S6-S8. Aoki says
it`s Riyadh now at 1755-2357; HFCC says 1900-2300, 100 kW ND to CIRAF
39S = their own peninsula. Come to think of it, KSA not heard much on
this band, or ever before? Currently only two other Riyadhs are in
HFCC, 7410 and 7240, and *none* lower on the 49mb! Jeddah site does
have two: 6100 and 6130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Oct 30 at 2326, VOT on air today in
English, but poor. When AWOL, look for PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi, East
Turkistan, off-frequency-minus, in the master-language, Mandarin;
might even het Turkey (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 15350, Oct 31 at 1347, VOT Turkish with music, S5-S7 and
flutter; ouraway until 1357 or so. Meanwhile, 12035, VOT English is
about as weak but less fluttery during other music. And 11540, either
Jammirler or Dengê Welat, is VP, S4-S5 with flutter (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 12035.023, Nov 1 at 1331, VOT sign-on in English giving
correct time and frequency! Poor S4-S7 and only slightly off-frequency
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [nonish]. 4666-USB, Nov 1 at 1326, barely audible 2-way talk
with occasional selcal tones, so aero GTA comms. EiBi lists San
Francisco Radio CWP [= central/western Pacific, I guess] but only via
two transmitter sites, GUAM and HAWAII. Apparently SFO ATC
remote-controls and remote-contacts flights, no axual ATC on those
isles? At least not connected to this frequency. SFO has others for
closer flights direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 11720, Wed Oct 30 at 2100, VOA VG with news, now the sole
Grimesland NC frequency during this hour only, aimed 94 degrees but
plenty backwards; includes two or three reports from AP --- nothing
wrong with AP! But shouldn`t VOA be able to call on its own
correspondents everywhere, or are there any left? Leading up to 2102,
``this is VOA News`` -- for the uninformed, that`s an ``optional
cutaway`` for affiliates to dump out, for whom only two minutes of
news on the hour is plenty! VOA news really continues until 2105 outro
by Marissa Melton. She stumbled a bit two or three times. Not that I
could do better on a live broadcast (let alone recorded), but one
might expect better from America`s Voice to the world. Searching her
name at voanews.com gets plenty of stories but no portrait or bio.

2105 ID as ``VOA One, today`s exclusive hits wrapped up in one
station``, i.e. rock music, yecch. We anticipate VG reception for a
change of `Music Time in Africa` if it still occupy this hour on
Fridays only. Did anyone hear it? I was intent on napping then and
forgot all about it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2005 monitoring: confirmed Wed Oct 30 from
2100:20 on WBCQ 7490.1v, S8-S9. Like last week starting 20 seconds
late (not 30, my typo before), but no problem as nothing is cut off.

Also confirmed UT Thu Oct 31 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, poor and noisy
S9-S6.

WORLD OF RADIO 2006 contents: Alaska, Antarctica, Argentina non [time
omitted under USA WRMI relay: 0100], Australia, Brasil, Canada, Chile,
China and non, Cuba and non, Cyprus, Equatorial Guinea, France,

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Confirmed first SWBC, Friday November 1 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, good
S9+10/20 (from next week: 2300).

Also confirmed UT Saturday November 2 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, VG
S9+10/20 following ID and an attempt to plug advertising on WRMI?
Before cut to WOR on time. At 0140 check also on WRMI 5010, poor S5-S9
and 7780 S5-S7. Next: see above, especially whether HLR be reactive
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5800, UT Sat Nov 2 at 0140, this WRMI is much stronger than
usual, maybe powered up? S9+10/20 --- but dead air! This is the new
time for RAE in Spanish which I left out of WOR 2006, just as well?
Wonder if has been silent ever since 0100? Other WRMIs after 0140:

4980, remains deleted; will 6060 ever come up instead of 5800?
5010, WOR
5850, WOR
5950, something, SMTV scheduled
7570 & 7730, TOMBS with biggest signals
7780, WOR
9395, Balkan music S9/+10, presumably Tirana
9455, hymn not // others; System L yellow sked very incomplete
9955, song, Angloparade scheduled
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, Wed Oct 30 at 2106, WBCQ-6 is on with gospel
huxter, no doubt from WLC Radio; only S9-S6 with deep fades so
presumably aimed awaywards. You never know whether this will be active
or not; recheck at 2220 it`s off (and so is yet to be heard but
registered 11730) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 6160 & 3265 & 9330, Nov 1 at 2341, no signals from these
WBCQs; 5130- poor with music; 7490+ very poor with FKB preaching,
looks unpromising for `AAAWWW` in a few minutes, so I semi-listen on
webcast, which does not JIP WTO until 0002 Nov 2; starts extolling
analog AM broadcasting on MW and SW, referring to an article
somewhere; interrupted by call from annoying Freddie, but AW ``lets
him go`` earlier than usual. Rest of hour I am distracted by other
radio and TV programs. He does mention near the end being on 7490 only
again this week. Even less from John Carver, IN, this week:

``Tonight's AAWWW --- I give up. I copied 7490 earlier in the week.
Copied 5130 two minutes ago. Copied WRMI a minute ago. I have no
signal on any WBCQ frequency except 5130. Radio and antenna seem to be
working okay. Next step will take time as it requires removing antenna
tuner and pre-selector out of the chain. John`` O well, the ep will
probably get some repeats this week or later.

WWV reports nothing unusual at 00 & 03, K-index 0, solar flux 71, and
no storms past or future. Just crummy wintry propagation from the
subauroral zone. While it might not be sufficient, the brute force of
500 kW is very much needed for WBCQ`s own programming; too bad some
time guaranteed for that was not part of the contract with WLC (except
for some tests) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, Thu Oct 31 at 0627, WWCR is wasting its watts
off-schedule but transmitter running nothing at S9+30/40, eclipsed by
modulated 5935 at S9+40/50 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Oct 31 at 1804, no signal from KVOH, presumably due
to Simi Valley wildfires and/or resulting power outages (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1560, Nov 1 at 1439 UT and still 1453, Vietnamese dominant
or audible vs KEBC OKC? So KGOW Bellaire TX is still propagating 2
hours after official November sunrise of 1245 UT. Axual sunrise today
in Houston was 1235 UT, as 1245 is an FCC-rounded average for
mid-month. No sign of Vietnamese from sibling station KYND or anything
on 1520 besides KOKC, so KYND presumably off again (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1580, Nov 1 at 1418 UT, mesaforklift.com ad dominant on
caradio instead of nearby KOKB Blackwell OK which must be off again;
and then an ad for something ``right here in the state of Arizona``
and ID as ``1580 the --something--``. Equilateral triangle with corner
dots, it`s the Tempe 50000/95 watt non-direxional station whose latest
call is KQFN, and per NRC AM Log ``The Fanatic``. sports format from
an address in Scottsdale. Official daytime in November is 1400-2430
UT. It`s been KQFN since 3/16/17, replacing KHEP from 10/20/15, and
KMIK which lasted almost 17 years from 12/04/98; but always Facility
7701 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1690, Nov 1 at 2259 UT, biz host signing off with a note of
finality saying will continue as podcast; must be KDMT Denver already
dominant instead of WVON Chicago, and not yet finished sale and new
format, but maybe imminent; fade for ToH ID but think 94.3 mentioned;
not correlating with either nor any other 1690 in NRC AM Log. Of
course I`m really looking for BR-LA pirate now on 1690, Radio Retén lo
que Tienes. Why not stay on clearer-channel 1710? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15632.4-USB, Nov 1 at 2203, 2-way in colloquial Spanish
INTRUDERS since the ITU broadcast band extends to 15800 ---
https://www.itu.int/en/ITU-R/terrestrial/broadcast/Pages/Bands.aspx
so WTWW, WWCR and any broadcaster above 15800 are also intruders, into
the fixed band (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Hauser
** CANADA. 750, Oct 30 at 0642 UT, some FM station in Georgia is
easily nulled, at right angle a fast SAH and producing a song
``Innocence`` in its lyrix over and over; 0645 ``This is
Saskatchewan`s New Beach Radio, --- 80s to 90s`` or something like
that; i.e. CKJH Melfort, Sask., U4 25/25 kW, in recent format change.
There is certainly no coast anywhere near Melfort, but a number of
little lakes and the Saskatchewan River not far away (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 15034-USB, Oct 30 at 1735, ``no report received`` by
Trenton Military from Thule; but whew they got one from Zagreb (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9630.00, Oct 29 at 2203, RHC in Spanish, undermod with hum,
NOT on usual 9640; // 9535. A mistake or hint of thing to come when
Arnie gets around to his B-19 changes? No het from Aparecida now, must
be off as Missionária, Brasil is JBA on 9665-. However, by 2359
recheck, RHC is back on VP 9640. Or a split schedule using both?
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5910, Oct 30 at 0432, CRI Cantonese relay is still suptorted
during music, yet S9+30. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, Oct 30 at 1734, S9+10 of dead air from RHC, while the
only //, 11760 is OK. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 6125 // 7355 // 7435 // 6030, Oct 30 at 0009, OCB is //
on all, notably 6125 which is supposedly TV Martí soundtrack; during a
silly ballgame which may be why. Still no jamming audible on the 7s,
but on vacated 7335, 5980 and heavy on 6030. Something`s always wrong
at the DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 13605, Oct 30 at 1402, jamming is still here on Day
4 of B-19, while Radio Martí remains loud and clear on 13820.
Something`s always wrong at the DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Oct 30 at 0002, VOG music is S6-S8 with Doppler
flutter, i.e. the frequency itself is unstably fluttering with BFO.
Must be a prop disturbance, but nonesuch reported by WWV
simultaneously on 3-hourly update: SF 69, K index 1, no storms past or
expected. Ditto at 0300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN. 9890, Oct 29 at 2206, news in Japanese, good S9+10 so figure
it must be a new relay like Madagascar. No, HFCC shows NHK direct from
Yamata at 21-23, 300 kW aimed away at 235 degrees, bud directly off
the back would be good for us at 55 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Oct 30 at 1421, VP/JBA music on the only
active frequency in the Kurdo-Turco sub-band, so presumably this is DK
and/or Turkey jammer.

11530, Oct 30 at 1728 suspicious open carrier of S6-S7 is the only
activity around here; if the Radio War has gone by now to 9525, only a
JBA carrier there (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO [and non]. 1050, Oct 30 at 0631, C&W song in English. If it
were not for the language and the music I would assume it`s XEG, as
loops from Monterrey direxion vs lots of CCI around. 0633 back
announcement in -- Spanish, but now there is QRM from another station
playing C&W --- that likely be CJNB North Battleford, Sask, U2 10/10
kW with C&W format. Of course, almost all its signal supposed to go
northward at night. See also CANADA for next Sask log a few minutes
later (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 6115, Oct 30 at 1403, RNZP confirmed here in news,
ex-6170 after 1259. So far so good: S9/+10, no CCI audible, and WWCR
has not overtaken it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 6020 & 7410, Oct 30 at 0433, NO signals from RRI as now
scheduled English hour to W North America; of course, odds are at
least one transmitter AWOL. Not much point in checking the much higher
//s to S Asia, 9820-DRM and 11790 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** THAILAND. 13750, Oct 30 at 0011, JBA carrier, so HSK9 presumed,
made the correct B-19 switch 3 days late for the useless North
American service direct in English, no longer a JBA carrier on 13745.
But today, *no* signal from RHC on 13740 which, if on, would be a
barrier to either HSK9 frequency. You never know whether this one will
be active or not. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, Oct 29 at 2350, VOT has succeeded in transmitting on
the third day of B-19 unlike the second, Turkish rock music near end
of 2300 broadcast; recheck at 2353 it`s off already, hardly enough
time for a formal closing with headlines. So no German extra today.

6125, Oct 30 at 0432, VOT music is poor, S4-S9 with flutter, as they
attempt to continue broadcasting English to western North America. It
would be nice if OCB Grimesland would turn off 6125 a few minutes
before 0400 for us to hear VOT IS, but we`ll be lucky if they close it
by 0401.

12035, Oct 30 at 1408, Turkish song at S5-S7 with flutter, as VOT 1330
English to Europe and USward improves a little; but last half of
hours are mostly music fill; try to tune in earlier for the meat
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 11720, Oct 29 at 2155, VOA S9+20 with rock music. As
expected this new frequency eastward from Grimesland in English for
Africa is VG for us in the opposite direxion; one hour only from 2100
but on Fridays should include `Music Time in Africa`; instead of 15580
previous B-seasons which would not be nearly as good under prevailing
MUFs at this <2 megameter skip distance (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17655, Oct 30 at 1731, VOA in Portuguese Portuguese to
Africa, only fair S9-S7 --- now the only Grimesland frequency on this
band, no more English midday on 17530. PP is 1700-1800 daily, and also
until 1830 M-F. If SWLs in Brasil want to hear VOA, they must put up
with that accent (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490.1v, Tue Oct 29 at 2157, an `AAAWWW` playback is filling
this 21-22 `Available Time Slot` on S5-S7 WBCQ as he is talking
politically during the final e-mail segment (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Final scheduled SW airings of WORLD OF RADIO 2005:

Wednesday Oct 30 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490.1v (last week started 20 seconds
late, not my typo 30)

UT Thursday Oct 31 at 0100 on WRMI 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, Oct 29 at 2200, WBCQ-6 is on after a long silent
period of over a week: the usual WLC Radio guys with very informal
chat designed to dupe younger listeners. Opening with a quiz, what do
these movies have in common, SF? It`s only S9+10/20 so could well be
on the 60 degree azimuth away from us. Nothing in last few days` twits
from AW that this would be testing again.

On Oct 30, Ivo Ivanov suggested they would be on 15330 in our
mornings:

``WBCQ-6 World's Last Chance Radio is [sic] on air October 30
0100-0457 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 060 deg to N/ME Arabic
0500-0657 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 300 deg to CAN English
0700-0857 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 057 deg to WeEu English
0900-1257 on 9330 BCQ 500 kW / 255 deg to MEX English, weak signal
at 1100
1300-1857 on 15330 BCQ 500 kW / 060 deg to N/ME Arabic
1900-0057 on 11730 BCQ 500 kW / 060 deg to N/ME Arabic``

but nothing there on 15330, Oct 30 at 1457, nor on 9330. At 1917,
nothing on 11730, nor 9330.

On last week`s AAAWWW he did say would be testing over the pole to
China `this week`. Someone did catch that one, Alan Holder, Isle of
Wight, UK: ``USA - WBCQ --- Superstation on test with WLC Radio
programming in the Chinese language. Heard on October 28 from 1000 to
1100 UT on 9330 kHz. Good signal in the U.K. (S-9+) with some fading.
I have checked out a number of SDRs in China, Japan and Korea, but no
reception of WLC on any of them. Thanks for the great work you do for
the SWL fraternity.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Oct 30 at 1730 check, KVOH is off again, having
reappeared yesterday. Wildfire news has been mentioning Simi Valley,
which is uncomfortably close to KVOH. Here`s the latest from Ray
Robinson to the WOR iog as of 1310 UT:

``High winds and no power again in Simi today, including Chatsworth
Peak. Plus there's a major wildfire now around the Reagan Library,
with evacuations in progress. KVOH is off the air today, hopefully
back tomorrow. The FM (KWSV, 99.1 MHz), which is much lower power than
the SW, is running on generator power. Ray Robinson, Voice of Hope
World Radio Network, Americas/Africa/Middle East,
www.voiceofhope.com`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ZANZIBAR. 6015, Oct 30 at 0432, JBA carrier, maybe ZBC; as
discovered yesterday, before 0430 it`s blocked by Tamazuj via much
bigger Madagascar, but tuned in too late today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4960, Oct 29 at 2357, no open carrier unlike 24 hours
ago when USAGM Sao Tome was suspected of not turning off (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9570, Oct 29 at 2202, open carrier, off already at 2203*
before I can read the S-meter, circa S9. Nothing scheduled this hour
but suspiciously Cuba uses it earlier, and Albania later, both for CRI
relays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
