Glenn Hauser logs October 22-23, 2021  View Printable Version
Saturday, October 23 2021

Logs
** SPAIN [and non]. 11670, Oct 22 at 2157 checking for REE signals
direct as token Friday English is imminent: this is the only one
barely audible, unusable, with slight ute QRM minus not plus. If on
air, 11940 should be much stronger tho probably distorted; and no
signals at all on 15520 and for ``North America`` 17855. Recheck 11670
at 2300, via Maryland remote, two equally very poor stations with
almost synchronized timesignals, REE and CNR-2 Business Radio from
Beijing 491 site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, Oct 22 at 2158, VOT IS & IDs prior to English hour,
good S9+25, best on LSB to avoid RTTY; less undermodulated than
sometimes and would be sufficient but I`ve no time to listen to it
today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 338-MCW kHz, Oct 22 at 0628 UT, ND beacon RYN, 400 watts
from Tucson / Ryan AZ. Only obvious one not heard on last night`s
thorough bandscan. See also UNID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2109 monitoring: confirmed Friday
October 22 from 1815 on 918 kHz Villa Estense, Italy. Music from
tune-in 1814 until 1815 quick ``IRRS Shortwave [sic], signing on`` and
right into WOR. S9+20 into nearby Noale SDR and no QRM yet.

As usual, IRRS really SW, 7290 via BULGARIA, lags behind, back to
``normal`` after pre-emption on 3rd Friday. Open carrier on before
tune-in 1813 via UTwente, S7/S9+10, but modulation not cut on until
almost 1816 as the WOR theme and intro is almost over. There is lite
splash QRM not from first adjacent 7285 or 7295 where there is
nothing, presumably from second-adj. 7300 bigsig S9+25 but which is
undermodulated, i.e. IRAN in German but scheduled until 1820* only.

WOR 2109 also confirmed Fri Oct 22 from 2030 UT on Italia AM, 918 kHz
as above, now with lite CCI, perhaps SPAIN. Unfortunately, tuned in at
2026 via Noale, it`s Kim Elliott in lengthy central interview on AWR
Wavescan, which is NOT on NEXUS-IBA schedule now, and certainly will
not be finished by 2030; must have started about 2015. Yes, chopped
off at 2030 for IRRS ID and WOR 2109 playback from its start as
scheduled. Sorry, Kim; I had nothing to do with this. IRRS has this
habit of filling time with random program fragments.

Also confirmed Fri Oct 22 at 2230, newish time on WRMI 5950, S9+10
direct but some ACI from 5945 RRI English. Next:

0130 UT Saturday WRMI 9395 to NNW [confirmed but JBA via remotes]
1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM
2330 UT Saturday WRMI 5950 to NNW
0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7730 to WNW

** U S A. 15770, Oct 22 at 1452, no signal from this WRMI, 24 hours
after first noted absent, their only daytime signal into Europe.
Scheduled XMTR #9, 44 degrees at 11-02 with: 11-12 variety, 12-13
TOMBS, 13-14 variety, 14-20 SMTV, 20-21 variety, 21-22 Prague, 23-02
TOMBS; switching among four different Systems.

15770, however, Oct 22 at 2025, is back on into Virginia SDR, but JBA
carrier into UTwente. At 2156 direct it`s sufficient. BTW altho the
title for WRMI A-21 schedules still says August 14, skeds themselves
are newly headed October 18, so be alert for further changes; so far
same entries for WOR until DST stop (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7489.9v), Oct 23 from 0000, WBCQ webcast with `AAAWWW`. Not
as overmodulated as before but still too much. Immediately equates
Democrats with communists, nazis and moonbats, another show railing
against all that`s wrong with a non-Trump-controlled America. I don`t
need this, so dip in only occasionally during the hour. Seems to start
complaining about Superman turning gay. 0019 interrupted by call from
Mr. Rabishu, who says he hasn`t listened to news since 2019, instead
monitors hams: some in California about discouraging gas-powered tools
such as chainsaws, setting off A&A on another rant. ``Build Back
America Better`` is BS, per Allan. Servitude was accepted back then
200-300 years ago by good people - so give them a break? But we know
now it was wrong. Last few minutes, skimming a few FRW items, prayer
and off. John Carver`s version:

``Tonight's show started on time on 4790, 6160 and 7490 this evening
with the best signal being 7490. Allan and Angela in the studio. Show
starts immediately with a rant from Allan about the changes to the
Superman slogan. He refused to say what it had been changed to but I'm
guessing it no longer ends with Truth, Justice and the American way.
Then he asks about "woke" movement is all about and also asks about
Critical Race Theory. Then into the price of fuel, inflation and
politics. Phone call at 0018 but I can't make out caller or the
question as all three frequencies have gotten terribly noisy. Then
into vaccine talk after the phone call. Another phone call at 0026 and
then into talk about statues being removed or destroyed.

Phone call at 0038 that Allan calls Pastor. At this time the best
signal I can get out of the three frequencies is an S3. Then Allan
plays some sort of audio from the Pastor that had just been on the
phone. Maybe a sermon? Reading of emails at 0056 along with a very
brief scan of the new Free Radio Weekly. Closing prayer at 0059 and
off air at 0101. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 378 kHz, Oct 22 at 0620 UT, NDB bandscan finds
intermittent dashes, dits and dahs. Sounds like an NDB but very out of
order. If really on 378, dxinfocentre.com lists only four, in BC, OR,
QC and NU, none very likely here. classaxe.com has only the three
Canadians, with OR and several more marked out, and none of them, then
or now noted with any problem like this. It`s still possible this was
a local device previously unnoticed. Anyone else hearing thus? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Oct 22 at
0612-0618 UT: 531, 558, 567, 576(2), 603(2), 612, 621, 639, 666, *684,
693, 774(2), 837, 846-TP?, 882(2), 909, 999, 1017(2), *1044, 1098,
1107(2), 1116(2), 1125, 1152, 1215(2), 1305(2), 1314, 1413 kHz.
*strongest, probably Spain. (2) at least two carriers beating, some
only a few Hz apart, some more (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
