Glenn Hauser logs April 12-13, 2022  View Printable Version
Wednesday, April 13 2022

Logs
** ANTARCTICA [non]. 15475.98 RCUSB, Apr 13 at 1428 and 1520 chex, NO
LRA36 signal into Brasília #1 KiwiSDR. Misses another Wednesday (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. I am not kidding when I point out better uses for the cost of
juice for jamming: The Other Side, you will never hear from RHC:

DIARIO DE CUBA
Food --- There's no hunger in Cuba?
The hunger map developed by the World Food Program to monitor food
security globally states that there is not...
Sergio Ángel, Bogotá 11 Abr 2022 - 16:38 CEST
https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1649687938_38740.html

Feeding a prisoner: a heavy burden for thousands of Cuban families
Jorge Enrique Rodríguez, La Habana 12 Abr 2022 - 15:55 CEST
Getting food and other essentials to a prisoner drains the finances of
thousands of families in a dollarized economy like Cuba's. The
alternative, not doing so, entails condemning a loved one to depend on
the paltry and generally inedible rations at the island's prisons.
https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1649771719_38764.html
(via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See USA: WOR monitoring

** ETHIOPIA [non]. 15340, April 13 at *1729.5, carrier on vs CNR
co-channel as heard from 1725 tune-in; 1730 starts talking in unID
language, as monitored via UTwente; 1740 some Horn-of-Africa music and
off at 1744* re-uncovering China. Meanwhile there was a lot of ACI
from much stronger but dead Brother Scare from Bulgaria on 15335. I
never heard any ID but this is it, from Tony Rogers in the British DX
Club:

``Thanks to a recording sent to me by Wolfgang von Poellnitz in
Austria, a target broadcast to Ethiopia has been identified as "Radio
Axumite" on 15340 kHz at 1730-1745 UT. Further investigation by
Wolfgang and myself indicates that this is produced by Axumite Media:
https://axumitemedia.com/

Their profile says "Axumite Media Ltd is an independent media
organisation based in Nairobi-Kenya, with a radio and online presence
and aspiring to be on satellite TV soon. Axumite is established by
visionary journalists and media professionals who fled Ethiopia due to
the ongoing genocidal war in the country, ethnic profiling, a total
lack of media freedom, and communication blackout in Tigray, one of
the regional states in Ethiopia. All of the journalists working at
Axumite Media Ltd have horror personal stories and difficult times to
remember; escaped arrest and persecution, and most of them were
working in media institutions in Addis Ababa and Tigray."
https://axumitemedia.com/profile/ [for lots more]``

So I still wonder how in the world they pronounce Axumite. Obviously
this is pro-Tigray; site on 15340? Not in HFCC or EiBi, while Aoki
shows a Tig cland just before this which was not to be heard:
15340 1700-1730 F Dimtse Wegahta (V. of Dawn) Tig Issoudun 1-7
15340 0000-1703 TWN * SOH relay RFA Chi Pingtung 1-7
However, EiBi indicates SOH could be 24h on 15340, but with ChiCom
jamming stopping at 1700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALDIVE ISLANDS [non]. 11620, April 13 at 1522, checking Voice of
Martyrs Korea, still preaching in nothing but English: VP S9/S6 into
Kuwait SDR#3, with heavy ChiCom 2ACI from both 11610 & 11630. Not any
better elsewhere, like S4/S6 into Missouri; S7 into RSA. Perth is
best, S9/+10 with carrier offset +2.4 to 3.0 via secret site. Preacher
calls for listeners to refer to their Bible, as if they might have
one! In MI where Christianity is banned?? God`ll get`em by inundation;
or Allah`ll save them? Closing ID as Voice of Martyrs Maldives Radio.
After a few seconds carrier break, *1530 Vatican SMG with `Laudetur
Iesus Christus` tagline, stronger into Perth and carrier offset +0.8
to 1.6 Hz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2133 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
April 12 at 2230 on WRMI 9955: sometimes over, sometimes under heavy
Cuban jamming, adding up to S9+30. Let no one ever criticise me for
hostility toward never-jammed RHC, since Cuba has no cause to jam my
English DX broadcasts, even out of stupidity. There is hardly any
exile programming on 9955, except for R. Libertad at 2300-2400 M-F but
jamming expands to a much longer span. See CUBA above in this report
for The Other Side to their lying propaganda. Next WORs:

2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Thanks this week for financial support from Russell Lay, Nags Head NC,
for a contribution via PayPal in US$ but not necessarily, to
woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser,
PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 9940, April 12 at 1505 no signal from WTWW like
previous days, as Ted has forsaken Ukraine, depriving them of his
preaching or rock music; rather, two Chinese signals, i.e. CNR1
jamming and RFA via KUWAIT, this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
{Date correct, overlooked in previous report}

** VANUATU. 11835, April 13 at 0627, amazingly good S9/S7 signal as if
it were a fundamental, but axually the reactivated 3rd harmonic of R.
Vanuatu 3945. Tnx to tip from LOB in Brasil that at 0600 they had
moved from 7260 to 3945 but he could only hear them on 7890 and 11835.
7890 is only a JBA carrier. But NZ 11725 inbooms at S9+20.

0627 Music at first sounds like ABBA. 0629 drumming/percussion,
bookending Bislama talk until again at 0632, apparently drawing
attention to a significant announcement. During that biminute, I do
make out mentions of ``National Radio``, and ``Radio Vanuatu`` ID in
passing, ``Insight``. Also lots of ``blongs``, which is Pidgin for
genitive, or ``of``. Gives telephone numbers in English, repeated:
7710128 or 26829, for information -- about what? Then briefly YL ID in
English, also mentions Tonga, Solomon Islands New Zealand.

This is the best I have ever heard it, direct. It`s past my bedtime,
so I decide to start recording it at 0639. I don`t like to record my
DX as it`s inconvenient; but mainly because I don`t have the time to
deal with all that later. I happen to awaken at 1149 and stop the 5+
hour recording. Maybe eventually I will post some excerpts from the 83
MB mp3 file.

Aoki and HFCC show absolutely nothing on 11835 at any time now, nor in
B-21 HFCC; while EiBi shows CNR2 from site-x at 0000-1300, except for
the Wednesday-only 0600-0855 siesta break, i.e. just when I started
listening. However, I can`t hear anything but Vanuatu during spot chex
of my recording, even toward the end as RV is fading down a lot. JBA
music about 1100 sounds like it could be an anthem, at sign-off. But
open carrier stays on until finally goes off about 1122*. Ron Howard
was also listening live and was still hearing RV past the news at 1000
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs April 12, 2022  View Printable Version
Tuesday, April 12 2022

Logs
** CUBA. 7355, April 12 at 0655, three distinct styles of jamming
against nothing, probably from at least three different sites, against
no Marti: ``normal`` pulsejamming rate; slow PJ; and a different sound
hard to describe (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5010, April 12 at 0658, S9/+10 leapfrog mixing product of
5040 RHC English over 5025 Rebelde Spanish another 15 kHz beyond. Just
as English is promising a second hour to follow. On 5010 their
modulation levels are about equal, while the reverse leap on 5055 is
but a JBA carrier. Last time I logged these, most of the mix was on
5055 not 5010. What changed? At 0701, 5040 defaults to dead air, but
the carrier remaining means the 5010 leap continues, but only with
5025 audio. Any such 5010 mix allowed could be a big problem for WRMI
during its hours: 2100-0300 at 181 degrees. But I have yet to capture
such a collision. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, April 12 at 1520, I`m checking Voice of
Martyrs Korea, still in English for Maldives via secret site at
1500-1530. First into one of the Kuwait SDRs: S9+10 and offset about 1
Hz plus, but with heavy AACI from S9+35, 11600 in American English,
which of course is CGTN Radio/CRI via Kashgar, East Turkistan, std
denunciation. At 1526, Missouri SDR finds 11620 S5/S7 and +3/5 Hz.
1528 at Kuwait, S9+10/20. At 1530 there is only a split-second break
before Vatican in Arabic takes over: extremely well-coordinated
transition. After 1530 into Missouri, VR signal is somewhat weaker
S4/S6 and carrier offset +5/6 Hz; implying that probably two different
sites are involved (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 341 MCW kHz, April 12 at 0705 UT, both EI Enid
and OIN Oberlin KS are JBA ND beacons alternating (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** RUSSIA [non]. 13600, April 12 at 1537, S9+10/20 in Russian, a new
target broadcast, good signal into Kuwait SDR; 1550 drops to dead air
but carrier stays on until 1559*. But who is behind this? Tnx to tips
in British DX Club:

``New high power broadcasts listed on C292 schedule from today
Hi All, The Channel 292 schedule is now showing that the 'Prawda dlja
Rossi' broadcasts will also take place with a 100 kW transmission from
1500 to 1600 utc on 13600.0 kHz on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
until at least the middle of May. These are only shown on the 9670 kHz
schedule page, and listed as beaming east, but I don't think C292 have
a 100 kW transmitter, so maybe Moosbrunn, but I can't confirm that,
perhaps someone knows for sure?
https://www.channel292.de/schedule-9670-khz/
The first of these higher powered broadcasts is today (12th of April).
(Alan Gale)``

``Thanks for the update, Alan. HFCC data base shows 13600 kHz as
Moosbrunn Austria 1500-1600 UTC from today on days 3,5 and 7:
13600 1500 1600 29,30 MOS 100 55 0 218 357 120422 291022 D Rus AUT C29
ORS 4764. 73, Alan Pennington, Caversham, UK``

Thanks for that, Alan, I should have thought to check there. The
signal is coming in very well here, and a good choice of frequency as
CRI had their Russian service on there before it, so hopefully a ready
made audience in the target area. Alan Gale``

``Address-Info from Radio DARC for radio prawda:
Twitter @Radio22_HF
email: radioprawda@outlook.com
73 paul gager, vienna``

``Full schedule per @Radio22_HF on Twitter today:
0500 UTC 9670 kHz (Mon Wed Fri) (low power)
1500 UTC 13600 kHz (Tues Thurs Sat) (high power)
1900 UTC 6070 and 9670 kHz (Tues Thurs Sat Sun) (low power)
(only 40 minute programmes re DARC post below?)

DARC on Facebook says this about the station:

"Uncensored radio for Russia --- New short wave program for Russia,
Belarus and Ukraine

Under the name "Radio Prawda dlja Rossii" started on the 09th April
2022 a new radio program specially for Russia. The targets of the
broadcast are serious and uncensored reporting as well as unfiltered
news for the Russian population. Due to the increasing state
censorship and administrative restrictions on the Internet as well as
the satellite broadcasts in reporting about Russia, this program will
be broadcasted again on short-term. It is available nationwide
throughout Eastern Europe and Siberia.

This program was founded by engineers and journalists in collaboration
with radio stations, which in part come from Russia and Ukraine. The
journalists already have years of experience in renowned public
broadcasting agencies.
That's about. The 40-minute program in the journal format is produced
voluntarily in the spare time and is funded entirely from private
donations. Although the first test broadcasts were only aired with low
broadcast performance and were little known so far, the editorial
office received a large number of feedback from Russia, Belarus and
Ukraine. The desire was expressed to continue the broadcasts and
please repeat it several times. The radio station considers this as a
clear signal for the need for such uncensored news."
73, Alan Pennington``

Back to gh monitoring: at 1900 UT Tue April 12 via UTwente, 6070 is VG
S9+20 opening in Russian, Ol`ga first with novosti, 1902 over to
Yulya. Not much on 9670, maybe too close skipping over. Keeps going
past 1940, and 1950; ID Radio Pravda dlya Rossii, again just before
ending at 2000; Ch 292 on to some other music. Yes, same hour as R
Svoboda via Armenia on 9370, still putting VG unjammed signal into
Pskov SDR; not to mention `Flashpoint Ukraine` on VOA [non] 15770 WRMI
at 1935. Must be prime time over there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. April 12 I`ve just received word from his son that John H
Carver, Indiana, died on April 8, in hospital of multiple ailments.
John was best known lately for his monitoring of Allan & Angela
Worldwide on WBCQ. He shall be missed, RIP (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565 CW, April 12 at 1456, HIFER beacon K6FRC is JBA;
seldom so and never beyond these morning hours despite bandscans at
manytimes; from Patterson CA, if really only 1.8 milliwatts as
claimed, each catch is of note (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
