Hauser
** CHINA. Survey of CNR1 jammers, some only carriers on known
frequencies vs SOH, Dec 8 at 2318: 9180, 9215, stronger 9230.

At 2325, 9970, 10160; at 2328, 10820, 11070, 11000, 11120, 11170,
stronger 11440 & 11460.

At 2335, 7540 good with flutter, echo; this one vs RFA Tibetan via
Kuwait this hour only, unheard.

9900, Dec 8 at 2324, Firedragon music jamming mixing with something in
Chinese, this one against RTI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5025, Dec 8 at 2309, R. Rebelde modulation during music is
cutting off and on, S9+25/30. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6145, Dec 9 at 0712, new? announcer at RHC concluding,
Charles McKeely(?), then 0713-0722 `DXers Unlimited` Arnie mumbling
something about no sunspots; 0722 opening `Mailbag`. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTEING DIGEST

** CUBA [and non]. 13700, Dec 9 at 1500, RHC much weaker than usual
here, S8-S9, vs much stronger OC on 13740 just before it turns off.
13700 is also too weak to produce any spurs, tsk2. Something`s always
wrong at RHC. 13700 eclipsed by 13710 Sa`udi Qur`aning at S9/+10,
normally much weaker by comparison (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 9105, Dec 9 at 0708, JBA with flutter, presumed Echo
of Hope on this week`s jumparound frequency, nothing on 9100 or 9095.
Aoki of today agrees 9105 at 0600-0200. As of Dec 7 at 1128, Wolfgang
Bueschel remotely had this on 9099.993; the rest unresurveyed yet
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2011 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
December 8 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, poor-fair S7-S9.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 9 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, fair S9-S8
but fading down/out by 0140.

Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 9 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, improved to better
S8-S9, and this time // 9395 is worse at only S4-S6, lowered MUF
tr*mping azimuth.

Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 9 from 0400 on Area 51 webcast; by 0429
check, closing via WBCQ 5130v is good S9+10.

Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 9 at 0430 on WRMI 9955, good S9/+10 with no
jamming. Next:

1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490+, Sunday Dec 8 at 2314, WBCQ amid `Uncle Bill`s Melting
Pot` seems to be in a comedy routine, so not always music, promoted as
being Hawaiian this week. Poor reception. At 2335 & still 2355 rechex,
I notice that 7490 is in dead air! The 2330-2400 segment on Sundays
has long been an orphan slot, without even an entry on the schedule as
``available time slot``; but usually filled with music from
somesource. Would be nice if UBMP could occupy a full hour.

BTW, while checking UBMP at 2316, RF noise burst from my nearest
streetlight igniting right at local sunset, earliest of the year, but
would be a few minutes later were it not cloudy (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 475 kHz, Dec 9 at 0715 UT, continuous weak CW as I am
dozing off; did not notice any DE definite ID, but could be this as
logged 11 months ago: ``U S A. 475 kHz, Jan 13 at 0701, WA4SZE/BEACON
on CW from Dave Frantz, of WWRB, Manchester TN`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5010-, Dec 8 at 2308, again unexplained LAH on the minus
side of WRMI; see yesterday`s speculation (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13624.74 approx., Dec 9 at 1458, 2-way in Spanish
INTRUDERS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1817 UT December 9

Hauser
** CANADA. 300 kHz, Dec 8 at 0727 UT, dash and YIV, 500 watt ND beacon
from Island Lake, Manitoba; logged once before on Sept 16, when I
described its location.

340 kHz, Dec 8 at 0729 UT, dash and YY, 500 watt ND beacon from Mont
Joli, Quebec. I was tuned to 341 where it mixed with local EI, and
first thought it could be an attempt by YYU Kapuskasing to come back
from the dead. Mont-Joli is on the Gaspé coast, just NE of Rimouski,
2761 km from here = 1715 stmi.

352 kHz, Dec 8 at 0732, dash and YKQ, 500 watt NDB from Fort
Rupert-Waskaganish, Quebec. It`s a remote Cree community on James Bay,
but only 2250 km from here = 1403 stmi, atcf (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 5050, Dec 7 at 2314, Chinese talk, VP vs splash from 5040
RHC --- Commies vs Commies! Aoki/NDXC shows:
``5050 2300-0102 CHN Voice of Beibu Bay Radio Chi Nanning 954 1-7``
Their only morning broadcast; have several others in Thai, Vietnamese,
Cantonese, Mandarin. HFCC shows 100 kW at 232 degrees. WWRB is OFF
5050 for the B-season (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 6105, Dec 8 at 1355, Firedrake jamming atop a weaker
station, i.e. RTI. Besides showing RTI *jammed, separate entries for
CNR1 Jamming from Qiqihar 202 site, probably but not necessarily same
when employing Firedrake audio. BTW, don`t you believe! that XEQM
Mexico still exist on 6105 as in Aoki/NDXC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 7470, Dec 7 at 2325, Chinese with echo, i.e. CNR1 jammers
against RFA Tibetan via Tajikistan at 2200-2400. This used to be the
YHWH pirate frequency around 0300-0530 as in Aoki, but quit several
weeks ago. Worth further checking, as Rick Barton, AZ, just reported
YHWH again! on 11650 at 2000-2010* Dec 7; me too Dec 8 at 1900, q.v.
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13767 approx., Dec 8 at 1416, weak spurblob from RHC 13700,
and even weaker JBA match circa 13633. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN. 9680, Dec 8 at 1445, Japanese alone on frequency. Aoki shows
NHK not starting until 1455, but HFCC shows 1400-, due west (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 6145, Dec 8 at 1357, Korean talk and piano music
from Shiokaze via JAPAN; good and clear here, no jamming audible; the
latest frequency change reported by Ron Howard. The other one listed
by Aoki at 1300-1400, 7245 not checked (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6970-USB, Dec 7 at 2201, `Hearts of Space` type soft
music, S7-S8, off by 2215, unID pirate, and strangely enough, zero
reports of it on HF Underground (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Dec 7 at 2202, FDR speech about Japan`s
attax on several Pacific islands, S8-S9 with background noise
apparently from crowd on original recording. 2206 the famous part
about Pearl Harbor; and then ``Remember Pearl Harbor`` song; 2210
another song, ``Mister Jap``; 2213 song ``I`m Off to Yokohama``; 2216
repeat the FDR ``infamy`` speech; 2224 ID as ``W-F-D-R, New York ---
Good Night`` as if closing down. But soon another? weaker station on
same frequency. Many more logs here:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,61017.0.html
By 2300, WFDR resumed, on 6940-USB:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,61023.0.html
WFDR pirate broadcasts are an annual tradition on Dec 7
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Dec 7 at 2225, weak music shortly after
WFDR closed; 2232 maybe announcement, unreadable; 2310 still on with
some whoops and chimes. Other reports say WENO, Voice of Brian Eno:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,61020.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11650, Dec 8 at 1900, here`s the reactivated YHWH
guy, anti-Christ Josiah with usual earnest evangelism, poor S7. Tnx to
tip yesterday until 2010* by Rick Barton, AZ. Also check 40m evenings,
formerly in 03/05v span on 7470 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 341 kHz, Dec 8 at 0729 UT, Enid ND beacon EI is on again
in the nightmiddle, vs 340 YY in Quebec, see CANADA (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 6115, UT Sun Dec 8 at 0100, WWCR-1 opening `Encore`
classical music hour, VG except for usual squeal on the #1
transmitter. Playlist on website is still from last week ``1/12``.
Brice Avery says from next week, this moves to 9350 at 2100-2200
Saturdays, i.e. WWCR-2 without the squeal. 9350 has a super signal
here and there is much less conflict with other programming at that
time; and could also reach awake Europeans, altho nominally 85 degrees
toward Africa. That hour has been for Brother HyStairical, only on
Saturdays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7490+, Dec 7 at 2200, Brother Scare
interrupted for WBCQ ID, then dead air instead of resuming. Scheduled
until 2300 on Saturdays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 774, Dec 7 at 0708, starting TA carrier search here to find
this one strong enough for some audio, RNE1 synchros (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2011 monitoring: confirmed UT
Sunday December 8 starting at 0423 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, VG but with
some CW QRM from hams too close during huge 160m contest up to 1887
kHz. Next:
2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395 to NNW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW 6160v?
0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7780, Dec 8 at 1412, SMTV VP // 15770 WRMI; a rare instance
of two SMTV frequencies at once, 7780 only Sundays at 14-15 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, Sat Dec 7 at 2313, WTWW-2 already on with ham talk
about 160m; S9+40 but overmodulated/distorted as it would be for
hours! By 0106 UT Sunday Dec 8 I notice that `Theater Organ in the
Ozarx` is underway as sometimes happens around this time, Xmasmx awful
with the distortion; also emitting intermittent huge noise bursts
ranging 5050-5110. At first I suspected some new Xmas lights in the
neighborhood, until found this confined to the 5085 area! 0402
recheck, still distorted with rock music. Doesn`t Ted know nor any of
his listeners tell him about this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 3185, UT Sun Dec 8 at 0410, gospel huxtress S9 but
undermodulated; not // TOMBS frequencies. So WWRB now using 3185
instead of 3195 when on after 0200, UT Sun and maybe Mon (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5010-, Dec 7 at 2316, WRMI in Spanish vs a LAH = low
audible heterodyne from the minus side. Brings to mind Madagascar
offset, but not supposed to be on between 1500 and 0200 as per
Aoki/NDXC. Don`t you believe! that Honduras or Dominican Republic
exist on 5010 as shown there; they`ve been gone for years. OTOH, India
is NOT listed, but has been reported sometimes; not aware of it being
frequency-low. VU2JOS shows latest AIR info: ``5010 50
Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Malayalam S=zone 0020-0205 1130-1745
(Irregular)`` and 2316 should also be too early for it; unless
something special is going on there or in Madagascar. The two Bauta,
Cuba transmitters on 5040 & 5025 could also leapfrog to 5010, but at
least one of them would have to be off-frequency slightly, which does
not seem to be the case now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Dec 8 from 0709,
after hearing audio from 774 Spain synchros: 531, 549, 558, 567(2),
576, 585, 612, 621, 684, 693, 747, 765, 774(2), 837, 846(TP), 882,
909, 936, 999, 1089, 1107(2), 1116, 1125(2), 1134, 1152, 1179, 1215,
1413 kHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, Dec 8 at 1330-1339
UT just at sunrise here, on the R75 with E-W LW, so no DFing but
probably E Asian more than DU: 558, 594, 612, 621, 657, 693, 702, 738,
747, 756, 774, 828, 873, 972, 1017, 1035, 1044, 1053, 1098, 1206,
1566, 1575 kHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6919.9-AM, Dec 7 at 2311, open carrier and off instead
of developing into a pirate (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1958 UT December 8

DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS updated Dec 7:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html

** CUBA. 5025, Dec 7 at 0715, Radio Rebelde music is overmodulated,
distorted. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba; 5040 RHC is off by
now this date (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15230, Dec 7 at 1455, `Despertar con Cuba` wrapping with
final propaganda headlines, S9+20 but undermodulated here; // 15140 is
weaker S9+10 but fully modulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13766 & weaker 13633 approx., Dec 7 at 1502, spurblobs from
13700-AM, no others heard at multiple displacements of 66-67 kHz.
Better audible in AM than FM, mush in SSB. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 6220, Dec 7 at 0343 past 0409, S9 JBM maybe Arabic?
Presumably the jammer against Iran International TV, which however is
nowhere to be found in the 6.2s. Today`s Aoki/NDXC shows 6230 for
VOIRI in Arabic at 1200-0400; and 6270 for IITV via Armenia over
exactly the same timespan; without making the connexion that one is
trying but failing to jam the other. Iran is upset, cracking down on
IITV people inside the police state (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** IRELAND. 13264-USB, Dec 7 at 1456 VP VOLMET, i.e. Shannon,
scheduled 1200-1800 on here per EiBi (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. 7525, Dec 7 at 1325 VP carrier, 1329 beeps, 1330 music
JBA. This would be the publicized special 40th anniversary broadcast
of the Asian Broadcasting Institute, site not specified but believed
to be UZBEKISTAN. An auspicious date --- no, not *that* one. I hardly
expected to hear this any better without a remote. It`s airing thrice,
yesterday, today and tomorrow. Ron Howard recorded the first one,
including a greeting in English from American Forces Network, Taiwan
--- not mentioning ABI and probably generic out of the archives. Show
is mainly in Japanese, anyway. ABI is a grandiose name for a DX club,
which I think back in the day did carry out useful research (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [and non]. Ron Howard clarifies my last report:

``Hi Glenn, A few minor points, regarding your nice survey of Korean
stations: 1) Frequencies listed would be "Surveying Echo of Hope - VOH
and Voice of the People." 2) 4557 is neither VOH nor VOP? Ron
California``

4557 was a Voice of the People frequency for many years, as in WRTH
2014 which I have at hand, but has been gone for some time while the
jammer persists just in case (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEWFOUNDLAND. 13270-USB, Dec 7 at 1457, ``Sondrestrom --- no report
received``, says the same guy who worx for Trenton Military, where
NRRs are often replete, but this is Gander VOLMET. That`s the US base
on the SW coast of Greenland just north of Nuuk, tropical compared to
Thule. Gander still scheduled at hours plus :20-30 and :50-60, rest of
the time off in deference to defunct New York Radio. Gander might as
well expand to continuous, except that would triple its power
consumption (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U A E. 5995.095, Dec 7 at 0337, JBA carrier way off-frequency. Of
course! It`s the Al-Dhabbiya site, scheduled this hour only with BBC
Arabic, which apparently are not embarrassed to be associated with
such incompetence.

BTW, there is no entry for UAE at all on page 496 of WRTH 2019 in the
International department, where there should be at least for info
about the relay station. Is there in the 2020? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2011 monitoring: barely confirmed Saturday
December 7 at 1326 the secret 1300 airing on WRMI 15770, VP here but
hopefully much better NE of Okee toward Europe. Next:
2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM
0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415]
2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395 to NNW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW 6160v?
0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5950, Dec 7 at 0712, dead air from WRMI during an SMTV
block, 0100-0800 per Aoki/NDXC. Which also claims WORLD OF RADIO is on
5950 at 0830-0900 Sundays --- I am never awake to check this myself,
but I think this has been gone for months replaced by Alameda Bible
Fellowship as on WRMI skedgrid --- but which also continues to show
WOR Wed at 1030 on 5950 System F programming; yet frequency sked above
shows another SMTV hour, presumably daily. Wouldn`t it be great if
everyone got their skeds updated/corrected to mesh with reality? If
anyone really hear WOR at this zzz time either, please let me know
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, Dec 7 at 0330, no signal from WRNO, one of our most
unreliable stations: but nothing of interest anyway, just
gospel-huxtering. Remember when they used to throw in newscasts from
DW? Just think: the original WRNO pioneered WORLD OF RADIO on SW, and
even rock music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1110, Dec 7 at 0704 UT, dead air from KFAB Omaha for at
least a minute; 0705 comes to life with KFAB Weather-Watch. I hasten
to null open carrier and try for WBT or anything else, but nothing
IDable (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13653.6-USB approx., Dec 7 at 1459, 2-way INTRUDERS in
colloquial Spanish; one with engine noise addresses the other as
``capitán``.

13751-USB, Dec 7 at 1503, 2-way in Spanish INTRUDERS with good
signals, one with engine noise; no swearing immediately heard (Glenn
Hauser, OK,, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Correxion, it`s ``El Fonógrafo`` not ``El Fonógrago``

** MEXICO. 720, Dec 6 at 1351 UT, Spanish timecheck twice as ``7-48``,
presumably automated; ad repeating toll-free phone number 800-110-3130
--- I don`t think a US number could have 1 as the fourth digit; anyhow
it`s an ad for something costing 629 pesos ``sin gastos de envío``.
1354 another timecheck, for 7:50, and temp 8 grados centígrados; then
mentions ``El Fonógrafo``, the network 25 kW XEJCC Juárez sometimes
relays (but now during talk, not music), with a couple? frequencies,
one of them sounding like 650, which does not compute, must have been
690, XEN (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 223 kHz, Dec 6 at 0728, dash and YYW, 1000 watt ND beacon
from Armstrong, Ontario. First one readable as I tune upward (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 6100, Dec 6 at 2307, VP music same as VG signal on CUBA
13650. I`m checking this just as some guy on WRMI is quoting Steve
McGreevy`s unID music on 6100; I researched the answer too late to say
on the WOR 2011 show: it`s CRI`s Portuguese service which for months
has been replaced by continuous Chinese music. 6100 is scheduled
2300-0100 direct from Beijing site, aimed NW across Asia, Europe,
Atlantic to Brasil. 13650 via Cuba is for only one hour; and the
second hour has another relay, Kashgar, East Turkistan (land of Uyghur
brainwashing by the ChiCom) on 9710, which here at 0001 Dec 7 check is
a JBA carrier, while the music on 6100 is still poorly audible. The
understation Steve also had on 6100 must have been CRI QRMing itself,
simulscheduled in Sinhala via Kunming at 2330-0030 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13767 & 13633 approx., Dec 6 at 1503, AM/FM/F# spurblobs from
RHC 13700-AM transmitter with music at S9; second order much weaker VP
circa 13567 & 13833, none further. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ERITREA. 7140 & 7180, Dec 6 at 1427, JBA steady carriers vs QRhaM,
presumably the two VOBMEs by longpath (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, Dec 6 at 0722, TGAV once again on air way past
usual 0610v*, but no modulation. Sometimes there may be, for the
holidays? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH. 2850, Dec 6 at 1408, choral music S7-9, KCBS
P`yongyang the common DPRK MW station here, only occupant of the
105-meter band, better than usual well after sunrise here.

3320, Dec 6 at 1413, Hamhung relay of KCBS P`yongyang also registers
S7-9, but just barely modulated. Still outshines 3325 Indonesia JBA
carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 1566, Dec 6 at 1343 I am concentrating on the JJBBA
carrier from FEBC Cheju Island, fading somewhat, but seems to begone
at about 1344.5, expected time for their beam change from Japan to
China. In another month this will be easier right at our own sunrise
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH [and non]. Surveying Echo of Hope Korean talk
jumparounds and status of KN noise jamming, Dec 6 at 1414-1425: 3475
no jam; 3905 jam only; 3930 with jam; 3985 with jam; 4557 jam only;
4885 no jam; 5995 over jam; 6350 with jam (not 6348); 6520 jam; 6600
with jam. Quite a while later had JBA carrier on 9100.

6045, Dec 6 at 1422, open carrier with jamming too. This is a Voice of
Freedom frequency, per EiBi in a break 1406-1452 but evidently leaving
carrier on for the jammer (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

1354 another timecheck, for 7:50, and temp 8 grados centígrados; then
mentions ``El Fonógrago``, the network 25 kW XEJCC Juárez sometimes
relays (but now during talk, not music), with a couple? frequencies,
one of them sounding like 650, which does not compute, must have been
690, XEN (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 730, Dec 6 at 1341, VG signal with Mexican music, much
stronger than 720 or 700; 12 minutes after sunrise here as I start,
none of the XEs below 700 are audible. ``La Mexicana --- le gana``
partial slogan, plugging a program Sat & Sun at 22 horas; 1350 Suprema
Corte PSA (can you imagine the SCOTUS doing that, or needing to?),
``La Mexicana`` ID again. It`s XEHB, 50 kW at Hidalgo del Parral,
Chihuahua (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 770, Dec 6 at 1355, Gobierno de México PSA, loops SSW, so
XEACH Monterrey NL, almost a semihour after sunrise here when the
other still skywaving XEs are further west; yes, 1358 Grupo Fórmula
program promo; 1400 ID? mentions ``canal`` algo. Did not hear it a few
minutes earlier and KKOB Albuquerque should have popped on ND day
pattern at 1400 UT (January: 1415 UT)(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 940, Dec 6 at 0707, multiple ID/promos for ``La Ke Buena --
en cadena``. Yes, that`s the way they spell it, altho XEQ should be
the ideal station to spell it correctly with a QU. Dominant signal
now, which is rarely the case any more for the major CDMX stations;
50/50 kW listed, and not noticeably off-frequency now. So slogan
implies it`s networked elsewhere? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 341 kHz, Dec 6 at 0732 UT, JBA ID with long pauses from
my local NDB, EI, at Woodring Airport. I often check for this day and
night and hear nothing at all, so appears to be sporadic and/or very
reduced power below nominal 25 watts. DXinfocentre.com lists 24 other
341s in the N American region, including the now decommissioned YYU in
Kapuskasing; and the only other one I have heard, OIN in Oberlin KS
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Dec 6 at 2353, standing by again for the Chaski cutoff
of its VP carrier audible under WON jamming, which occurs at 2355:07*,
i.e. 2.5 seconds earlier than 24 hours ago, 2355:09.5; of course I`m
just estimating the split seconds on my digital watch (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 6 at 2301:30, VOT carrier and shortly modulation
cuts on late as English is already opening. Something`s always wrong
at Emirler, but today the modulation is good on S9+10 signal; 2350
recheck still on with interval signal loop, 2357 starts inserting
German IDs twice a minute, ``Die Stimme der Türkei``, and after
slightly late timesignal, 0000 UT Dec 7 opens German hour with
schedule including 19mb, i.e. 15270 at 1230 and there is only one
other German airing scheduled, 1830 on 5945, NOT NOW! If this phantom
German broadcast were to recur 24 hours later it would collide with
The Mighty Farty KBC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2011 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC at 2300
UT Friday December 6 on WRMI 9955: as usual, initially buried by heavy
wall-of-noise Cuban jamming even tho there is no exile programming
now, nor anything in Spanish. I can`t time the opening, but must have
started playout 10-15 seconds early judging by when I first utter
``standard disclaimer`` after the opening; was it upcut or everything
starting a bit early? This time the jamming persists longer, gradually
diminishing, WOR more or less readable by 2309, and clear by 2319.

Also confirmed UT Saturday December 7 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5010 S9-S7 and
not upcut; 7780 S9 but noisy; 5850 VG S9+20, the one aimed thisaway.

** U S A. 7490v, Dec 7 at 0100, WBCQ with a new `AAAWWW` -- I`m
listening mostly on webcast except when checking out the SW usage.
Only first few minutes politix, sidetracked by e-mail from SAQ, Sweden
about the Alexandersen Alternator Xmas eve broadcast on 17.2 kHz. He
talks a lot about SAQ and VLF in general both now and later in the
hour. Says he has heard it before in Monticello with a very longwire
antenna, but had to turn off all his own transmitters. SAQ is a museum
piece, last of its kind in the world. Except for the brand-new S-S,
WBCQ is also full of 60-70-year old museum piece transmitters and
other equipment.

0114 annoying Freddie calls in wanting to report reception. AW knows
they are on 7490 which he can hear/see in Fla, but not sure about
5130. Not the others: 3265 & 6160 off the air; and 9330 continues with
WLC. A bit of news about the SuperStation: due to high winds, an
insulator broke on the antenna, but they were able to isolate it and
stay on air; antenna crew came yesterday and fixed it.

At 0131, after confirming WOR on WRMI X 3, I find WBCQ 5130 is S9 but
noisy, and slightly better than 7490, also S9 and noisy. 0153 starts
to read latest FRW logs (oops, I missed their deadline with my one
catch), sidetracked by discussion of his and Angela`s musical
preferences; 0159 squeezes in that the WBCQ merchandise store is now
open on the website to raise some money, but at least on the webcast,
cut off at 0200 sharp before he can even pray.

Here`s John Carver`s version of same hour:

``Tonight's program started on time on 5130. 5130 is S9 and 7490 is
S1. Opening talk about plugs and sockets, male and female. Mini rant
about the 50 types of sexual orientation that are in vogue now. Then
into talk about longwave and a special event station that will be
broadcasting in December. First phone call at 0111 from Freddie
complaining that he could receive no WBCQ signal this evening and
could only hear WLC on 9330.

In talking about that, Allan mentioned that the big antenna on the
superstation had already suffered some weather related damage from a
broken insulator. They were able to bypass it with the computer and
continue to use the antenna until the weather broke and a crew was
able to replace the insulator.

After Freddie was off the phone the talk went back to longwave. Phone
call at 0138 from Freddie again with comments about the SAQ station
that Allan was talking about. Reading of Free Radio Weekly at 0153
interrupted at 0155 by nonstop station IDs until 0200 when they went
into a AAWWW rerun. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 560, Dec 6 at 1334 UT, news about Beaumont, ``KLVI News time
7:34``, weather next, local ads. Can anyone think of another MW
station with a call of frequency in Roman numerals? (56 = myriaHz).
Not often heard here; night pattern is tight almost due west; hmmm,
across Houston, but non-direxional daytime after 1300 in December
(1315 in January) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 830, Dec 6 at 1343 UT, Spanish religion seems to peak
WSW/ENE, maybe a Mexican; but 1347 several AC 901 phone numbers and
Memphis mentioned, so it`s from the east, 3 kW daytimer, WUMY Memphis
TN, 1348 also slogan ``Buenas Nuevas`` (never `Noticias` in the
Christian sense, nor vice versa). WCCO still in but nullable. Not to
be confused with the other mid-American Mississippi Valley USSS on
830, KGLA in Norco LA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1060, Dec 6 at 1402 UT, ID including ``Éxtasis -- El Paso``,
7:02 TC, i.e. KXPL, 10 kW ND daytimer. No sign of KIJN Farwell TX,
about halfway between us (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, first on the R75
with E-W longwire, Dec 6 at 1324-1328 UT: 747, 774 both much stronger
than 828; 972, 1143.

Today`s sunrise 1329 UT, still latening by a minute every other day to
attain 1344 UT by Epiphany; OTOH our earliest sunset is just about now
at 2316 UT.

Then at 1328-1333 on the DX-398 hand held, all of them DFing NW from E
Asia, not Au/NZ: 693, 737, 774, 828, 873, 972, 1323, 1422, 1566 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also KOREA SOUTH

UNIDENTIFIED. 2484.13, Dec 6 at 1409, weak steady carrier, probably a
local artifact, but I`m checking for VANUATU which is supposed to
revive SW before yearend including new 2485 registered by Adrian
Sainsbury, NZ as 10 kW, 1000-1900 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
