Hauser
** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, UT Mon Jan 13 at 0137 via WRMI, RAE Spanish
relay during DX program, recognized as same I was hearing 48 hours
earlier on UT Sat, about Bolivian and Peruvian non-SW stations. Seems
a regular repeat pattern. Several minutes before 0200 both nights,
gospel songs in English were playing, evidently filling out after a
RAE relay which is only 54 minutes long (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 6005, Jan 13 at 0330, carrier at S9+10 and some
undermodulated talk, 0333 song. Presume to be new frequency for R.
Tamazuj, ex-6015. Rocus De Joode, frequency manager of MGLOB relay
station, told us Jan 12 he was about to move away from Zanzibar`s
frequency which also starts at 0330, following a discussion about this
collision among WOR iog members Ron Howard, Wolfgang Bueschel, Tibor
Gaal, and Bill Bingham:

``Hello and Greetings from Madagascar, I noted underneath
correspondence. I was aware of the interference. So I plan to use 6005
kHz (10 kHz away) from tomorrow morning and see if this improves the
situation. According to band scans this should be a clear channel
between 0330 and 0430 UTC in the horn of Africa.

I want to note that my reason to use 6015 kHz was to stay close to
6020 kHz, which I used in the B18 season. However, since Tamazuj
extended with half an hour extra starting A19, I could not use this
anymore because or RRI from 0400 UTC onwards. And at the start of the
B19 season 6015 kHz was free to use with DOL [Zanzibar] with 50 kW in
Swahili reported to be off air.

Considering the extreme low SSN I even consider to swap 6015 kHz and
7315 kHz between MDC and ISS. Not decided yet. 73’s de Rocus @ MDC``

Wolfgang Bueschel and Bill Bingham agree about the two frequencies
now. HFCC A-19 has a wooden registration for EKAla, Sri Lanka at
0100-0430 with 10 kW at 350 degrees across India on 6005 --- but that
site is long gone for YEARS! and indeed no longer mentioned in the
WRTH 2020. BBC ASCENSION is on 6005 only at 0500-0700. Now the 6005
signal also has splatter from 6000 Cuba, despite that being
undermodulated when tuned directly to it. See ZANZIBAR (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** SUDAN SOUTH [non]. 6005 ex-6015, R. Tamazuj via MADAGASCAR: q.v.
Recheck at 0427 Jan 13, 6005 is off; must have just missed closing
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U A E. 5995.047, Jan 13 at 0337, JBA carrier off-frequency, a fit
for BBC Arabic via inaccurate DHA site. There is also a weaker carrier
closer to 5995.00 which is unaccounted for: the Korean radio war may
be on but surely not propagating from noontime there (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2016 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
January 12 after 2130 on WRMI 7780, poor-fair S5-S9.

Also confirmed UT Monday January 13 after 0130 on WRMI 7780, VP
S4-S6.

Also confirmed UT Monday January 13 at 0230 checked via UTwente SDR
only: 7780 good, 9395 poor. Also confirmed same time via WRN webcast
to North America at new URL of
http://shoutcast.wrn.org:8025/NAMAAP

Also confirmed from 0402 UT Mon Jan 13 on Area 51 webcast; at 0335
WBCQ 5130.0 was JBA and at 0425, JBA with me (nothing on 6160v, extra
transmitter totally dormant for months like 3265v; other WBCQs now:
9330.00 JBA carrier, 7490.07v S9+10 non-BS gospel huxter).

Also confirmed UT Mon Jan 13 at 0430 on WRMI 9955, S9+10 after
classical music fill, good with trace of lite pulse jamming. Next:

** ZANZIBAR. 6015, Jan 13 at 0330, VP S4-S6 signal seems also
undermodulated, presumably ZBC finally clear of Tamazuj-via-Madagascar
collision; as following a discussion among WOR group members, MGLOB
has just moved its 0330-0430 broadcast down to 6005; see MADAGASCAR.
Ron Howard had originally observed that on 6015, not only were
Zanzibar and Madagascar mixing but also PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi in Kazakh
// 4850 until its 0345*. At 0430 Jan 13 I have a JBA carrier alone on
6015, ZBC fading down (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ALGERIA. 531 kHz, Jan 12 at 0218 check, some audio from RTA Jil FM
is separable from 530 stations; first noted at 0006 as the strongest
of the TA carriers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 223-MCW kHz, Jan 12 at 0727 UT, dash and YYW, 1000 watt NDB
at Armstrong, Ontario (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA [and non]. This from Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria explains why I was
reporting Chinese on new 7665 as early as Dec 27 at 1540:
``TAJIKISTAN, Frequency change of Radio Free Asia, January 10,
1500-1700 NF 7665 DB 250 kW / 110 deg to EaAs Chinese, ex 5820``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13630 & 13769 approx., Jan 12 at 1514, FM/AM spurblob out of
13700; also 13839, but no match on the minus side which would be circa
13561, rather our local ISM RF ID? noises. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Sunday January 12 at 1518, RHC overmodulated and
distorted here but OK on // 15230. Recheck at 1631, 15140 the same
just concluding slightly overtime Esperanto // 11760. Recheckk at
1857, 15140 still OM/distorted during multi-lingual ID. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1300, Jan 12 at 0708, corrida song solo by OM dominates,
from WSW, XEP Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua; 0711 ``Radio Mexicana,
Nuestras Noticias`` ID but NO news now! and another solo song by YL.
This has a better signal than most Mexicans, even 800 XEROK. IRCA Log
says ``Fiesta Mexicana`` frequently announces 40 kW, but night power
unknown. Had been and still is listed as 0.2 kW night in WRTH 2020,
and agrees on the slogan I heard (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1530, Jan 12 at 0718 UT, Spanish ID mentions Tulsa and
FM. So Spanish at night isn`t necessarily KGBT. KXTD Wagoner OK is a 5
kW direxional DAYTIMER. NRC AM Log shows its FMs are on 104.9 and
100.3. Could this explain it? Should not; Paul Walker reported last
Nov 7:

``OK, this has to be one of the oddest explanations I’ve ever read for
requesting Special Temporary Authority. KXTD-AM 1530 Wagoner, OK is
requesting permission to operate at lower than its licensed 5000 watts
and to do it Non directional after a trampoline flying through the air
during a tornado toppled one of their towers`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** PERU. 5980, Jan 11 at 2353, JBA carrier from R. Chaski vs heavier
jamming than usual, so I can`t pinpoint the instant of autocutoff, but
approx. 2353:55.5*. That would be 9.5 seconds earlier than 2354:05* on
Jan 6, 5 days ago, right near the 1.9 second average slippage per
noctem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 13590.057, Jan 11 at 1942, discussion in
American English, like CRI. No, only some VOA sites would be so far
off frequency, Pinheira as listed for 19-20, 100 kW at 138 degrees
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Sat Jan 11 at 2354, VOT IS is still running
after English --- prospects good for the collision I have been
predicting: 2356 starts inserting German IDs zweimal per minute. The
Mighty KBC via Nauen, GERMANY is not quite on yet for its weekly
broadcast also to N America. *2359, there it is, carrier on, atop TRT
still going, making SAH of about 96/minute = 1.6 Hz. TRT
sesqui-second-late ToH timesignal fires just as KBC starts modulating.
Next few minutes I can`t be sure VOT still be on; but at 0028 UT Sun
Jan 12 I bring up 5960 at UTwente SDR, to find TRT German way on top!
of KBC, and still at 0051 toward end of extraneous German hour. So
it`s a big mess inside Europe, and probably worse clash than here,
eastward in N America. BTW on this occasion, not hearing any sign of
off-frequency-minus East Turkistan, which could QRM KBC even without
TRT. By choosing 5960 repeatedly of all possible frequencies, despite
my warnings, KBC must deserve what it gets, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 329 kHz, Jan 12 at 0226 UT, ND beacon PMV, which is 25 watts
from Plattsmouth, Nebraska,

365 kHz, Jan 12 at 0222 UT, ND beacon HQG, which is 25 watts from
Hugoton, Kansas; I was tuned to 363-USB.

420 kHz, Jan 12 at 0219 UT, ND beacon PK, which is 25 watts from
Olathe - Herbb, Kansas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2016 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
January 11 at 2058 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, my intonation barely
recognizable in hi noise level for the 2030v broadcast.

Also confirmed UT Sun Jan 12 at 0431 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville
MO, about 2 minutes into so started circa 0429. Next:

** U S A. 980, Jan 12 at 0009 UT amid my JBA TA carrier bandscan, I
notice an open carrier upon this TA/NA frequency, still so at 0014.
DFing makes it NE/SW, and surely my nearest KMBZ Kansas City MO which
normally dominates at night here, and of which there is no other sign.
Main QRM is Spanish music NNW/SSE, making SAH of 204/minute = 3.4 Hz,
very likely KQUE Houston market TX. Can it be that no one is paying
attention at one of KC`s major(?) radio stations? Transmitter site is
east of Stateline (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1090, what in the world is going on at KAAY Little Rock?
Even more strangeness than heard last night: Jan 12 at 0655 UT, W&M
discussing: pizza! But audio is continuously breaking up severely like
internet buffering. Then mentions ``see it``, a smokeless grill, so
this is audio of a TV infomercial (taking a cue from co-channel XEAU
Monterrey which does the same thing in Spanish at these hours). Sound
is horrible. ``Exclusive TV offer`` runs past ToH 0700 UT, 0702 ending
disclaimer and NO ID, but from DF and usual dominance, I am sure it`s
KAAY. At 0704 UT, still breaking up, starts `Judge Judy` TV show!
(Yesterday it was NBC-TV Today Hoda Kotb hour.). 0724 UT recheck,
still J.J. breaking up (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, UT Sat Jan 11 at 0133, RAE AAM, Spanish via
WRMI is in Friday DX program whose name is ``actualidaddx.com.ar`` ---
something about a station on 12005; then far-advance news about the
Radio Öömrang annual broadcast Feb 21 at 1600-1700 on 15215; then a
long item about stations in Perú, until closing at 0142; 0143 next
program is `Migrantes y refugiados`. I wonder if same DX content in
English translation appear next semihour 0200-0230 on 9395? Did not
get to check that.

Despite my numerous reports of the correct frequency and time for RAE
Spanish via WRMI, Conexión Digital continues to ignore them and
publish totally wrong info about their own station:
``RAE, Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior:

Jan 10 via WRMI 9955 --- jamming did not abate a bit until about 2318,
and finally gone by 2327.

Confirmed much better jamming-free, UT Sat Jan 11 at 0130 on WRMI
5850, and much weaker 5010 which fades out to storm noise by 0148;
while 7780 has been replaced by music --- APS Radio! Without notice.
BTW, following WOR at 0200 on 5850 was a VORW dated 8 August 2019!
That`s a *lot* of weeks ago.

Not confirmable Sat Jan 11 at 1300 on WRMI 15770 --- JBA carrier only
here as usual. Maybe Ivo has checked it over there? Yes:

** U S A [and non]. Some minor updates/correxions to WORLD OF RADIO
2016:

About Mongolia 7260 English scheduling: the one-hour-earlier Saturday
broadcast is at 00-01 UT; the time 08-09 was local time.

About beacon A on 2097.3: I meant to say Oct 11 as the date I noted it
had been missing, not Aug 11.

Also, we have learnt later that SPAIN has resumed 9690 as of Jan 10;

About Radio Onda ASBL, Brazilian music via Netherlands at new time
00-17 on 5940, but has anyone ever heard it? A later report:

``Rádio Onda has moved to 5940 kHz from 6060 kHz. Heard testing today
at 1100 on 5940.05v kHz, weak here in Finland. (Mauno Ritola on WRTH
Facebook group, 5 Jan)

(Radio Onda's entry is on page 459/460 of WRTH 2020 under Belgium -
though SW licence is for 1 kW from site in Netherlands see:
https://www.radioonda.be/ondes-courtes)

"Welcome to Radio Onda's website! We are broadcasting in DAB+ from
Brussels. Here you can listen, in addition to the good French music,
the best international hits 80s and 90s, and of course, the beautiful
Brazilian music! Listen to the broadcast of Radio Onda also on 6060
[sic] kHz" https://ondaasbl.wixsite.com/english

"Radio Onda is managed by ASBL Onda, a non-profit association based in
Bruxellas [sic], Belgium. Our activities are aimed at the
dissemination of Brazilian culture by the old continent. In addition
to webradio, we have a 6030 [sic] kHz Shortwave broadcaster from
Holland, with 1 KW of power, covering much of Europe. The programming
of the station is quite varied, and here you will hear from MPB,
National Rock, Samba, Country, among other national styles. This way,
we bring you a great variety of music, with lots of humor and
information, for an audience not only Brazilian, but also Belgian and
European. ASBL Onda is a member of HFCC, an international organization
for shortwave radio frequency coordination, in addition to the
Geneva-based ITU." (translated from Portuguese at
https://ondaasbl.wixsite.com/home/a-radio)

(N.B. Voz Missionaria, Brazil also uses 5940 kHz, though off channel
around 5939.7 kHz)(Alan Pennington, bdxc-news iog)``

{many others then report hearing it Jan 10-11, at least via remotes}

To which Wolfgang Bueschel replies:

** U S A. (7490, 5130), UT Sat Jan 11 at 0000, monitoring WBCQ 7490
webcast, FKB preacher runs over mixing with canned ID; `WTO` theme of
`AAAWWW` plays, but soon interrupted by Pirate Joe substituting, and
he fades out the WTO, enough of that, before it finishes. Meanwhile,
both 7490v and 5130 are JBA, so I leave it to John Carver to report on
whatever fill this hour:

``Tonight's show started on time this evening. Very poor signal on
7490 and a little better signal on 5130. Pirate Joe is the host this
evening. He starts off by telling the listeners to create their own
shows and put them on WBCQ. Some talk about fun and our country's
history of not allowing fun going back to the original Puritan
settlers. 5130 started to go downhill about 0115 and getting difficult
to copy. Will listen to the noise in case the signal picks up again.
Later on I hear George Bush being mentioned and a bit later something
about Iraq wanting us out. It sounded like he may have started playing
music around 0147. At 0155 there was a station ID but only one so they
must have corrected the problem of constant station IDs for five
minutes in a row. As near as I can tell program ended on time. John,
Mid-North Indiana``

Too bad, isn`t it, that none of the Superstation project is available
to make Classic WBCQ programming somehow audible on SW (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 12160, Sat Jan 11 at 1607, WWCR church choir with modulation

** U S A. 1090, Sat Jan 11 at 0702 UT, KAAY Little Rock with series of
jokes to a laughing audience, stand-up? Not the usual
gospel-huxtering; XEAU Monterrey at right angle needs to be nulled
instead of vice-versa; 0705 ads; 0708 opening the NBC-TV Today show
hour with Hoda and Jenna for January 10! but no video here. Seems a
drastic format change. Maybe this is not `Beaker Street`, but a
related story sent on by Rick Barton, AZ; very vague about when B.S.
would be on:

“Beaker Street,” Clyde Clifford’s pioneering late-night radio show, is
back on the air. The program debuted on 50,000-watt AM radio station
KAAY in 1966 and established itself as an underground dispatch — and
as an antidote to commercial radio’s milquetoast formulas and
penchants for repeating the same 100 classic rock tracks on a
carousel. Clifford favored deeper and longer album cuts than daytime
mainstream radio had patience for, and because he broadcast the show
from KAAY’s Wrightsville location, where the station’s transmitter was
located, he set his mellow narration to a backdrop of freaky space
sounds to muffle the transmitter’s hum — a trademark that so defined
the show that it had to be kept, even when “Beaker Street” found life
in other, more noise-controlled studios.

Now, with Clifford’s (real name: Dale Seidenschwarz) retirement from a
decades-long day job in the rearview mirror (barely), the beloved rock
radio bulletin is slated for a revival on Arkansas Rocks, a coalition
of veteran radio talent that, like Clifford, skews less toward stuff
like “Hotel California” and more toward the likes of “Traveller in
Time.” Stay tuned for more on Clifford’s return to the airwaves,
scheduled for February 2020. Until then, here’s Arkansas Rocks’ air
talent Tom Wood bringing the good news...

276-MCW kHz, Jan 9 at 0712 UT, dash and YEL, NDB --- have I got
Yellowknife? NO, it`s just ELliot Lake, Ontario, 200 watts.
(Yellowknife is ZF on 356 kHz, 3800 watts --- should be on lookout for
that) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 11640, Jan 10 at 0706, VP signal sounds Cantonese; yes, Yue
scheduled from CRI, 500 kW, 59 degrees from Jinhua site (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CHINA [non]. 13630 via MALI, Jan 10 at 1933, S9-S6 Chinese music
only, suitable for napping, finally 1954.5 Brasilian accent recites
entire CRI Portuguese sked with no explanation what happened to all
the programming; 1956.5 dead air to 1958*. *1958.5 back on OC and 2000
opening China Plus Radio, news in English, seems a bit stronger? But
both are supposed to be 100 kW at 111 degrees from Bamako so no need
for transmission break: Portuguese 1930-2000, English 2000-2130, plus
French 2130-2230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 12200, Jan 9 at 0646, RHC English steady S9+10, NF? Strong
enough to be a fundamental but in fact is 2 x 6100, even stronger at
S9+20/30, both with slight squeal but otherwise good modulation.
Hardly anything inside 25 mb, except residual pulse jamming on 11930
and NZ on 11725. The other 6 MHz channels are still on, 6000, 6060 and
6145, but not a hint of harmonix from any of them which would have
been on 12000, 12120, 12290. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2016)

12200, Jan 10 at 0702, no signal since 6100 is off already. Only one
on now is 6145 RHC English at S9+30 (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** CUBA. 13631 & 13769 approx., Jan 9 at 1524, weak spurblobs from
13700, plus/minus ~69 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13430 < 13498 < 13566 < 13633; 13907 < 13839 < 13769, Jan 10
at 1517, AM/FM spurblobs out of 13700 at 67-68 kHz intervals, weakest
at the outskirts. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Jan 10 at 1932, RHC overmodulated/distorted in Kriyol;
something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 11965, Jan 9 at 2028 bandscannng hits this SSOB from
APR via MWV, as they utter ``...slippery slime oozes from its
skin...`` so I keep right on tuning! They sure know how to turn off
listeners; probably pseudo-science during a so-called `Creation
Moment` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Jan 10 at 0335, anti-Christ pirate Station
YHWH very poorly audible with medium SAH, presumably Lampertheim as
scheduled in Pashto until 0400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 4600, Jan 10 at 0332 UT, SBG // 1390, i.e. a mixing
product from local KCRC ESPN, but how? It`s almost always weakly
audible as transmitted rather than receiver overload. The only formula
I can come up with for a combination with our other local, KGWA 960,
is: 4 x 1390 = 5560; 5560 minus 960 = 4600! (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 9 at 2026, REE North American frequency is still
off, while the other three transmitters are on during stupid ballgame,
11685, 11940, 12030. If I`m not mistaken, 9690 has not been heard at
all this year so far; hope it`s not closed for good, but not unusual
for one or two Noblejas transmitters to be down (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WORLD OF RADIO 2016)

9690, Jan 10 at 2135, now it is back on as bestsig, not ballgame; also
audible on 12030 but 11940 & 11685 JBA carriers. So now we may expect
mostly-music English resumed at 2300-2330 M/W/F on 9690, 11940 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 12075, Jan 9 at 2029*, VOA cuts off a song just as I
tune in; indeed French via BOTSWANA is scheduled daily until 2030
only, tho the programming continues if listening on web or FM. HFCC
also shows this French frequency resumes at 2100-2130 M-F only. What
nonsensical transmission scheduling! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2016 contents: Australia,
Bougainville, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea,
India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea South, Mongolia, Netherlands, North
America, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Turkey, USA; and the propagation
outlook.

** U S A. 5130, Jan 10 at 0345, WBCQ is on with an `Allan Weiner
Worldwide` but VP, rough copy; referring to some story Artie sent him,
mentioning local origination and city of license; an old repeat; 0400
sign-off theme from the ``family`` at WBCQ. Sked shows 5130 on air UT
Fri at 0200-0400 with `Christian Missionary Radio Evangelism` and
`Radio for Peace International` at 0300 --- but now that presumably in
French is apparently gone. Own website
https://www.rfpi.eu/nous-ecouter/comment-ecouter-radio-for-peace-internationale.html
shows both summer and winter schedules. Summer had 5130 from unknown
station at 0200-0300 but only on the first Thursday [sic] of the
month, while winter eliminates that completely (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 9330, Fri Jan 10 at 0708, Cuban spynumbers and
digital blaaps are overriding World`s Last Chance Radio via WBCQ.
Everyone should have seen this collision coming, since Cuba has been
on 9330 forever during this hour four nights a week; but who cares?
Neither counts upon rational listenership (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15555-USB, Jan 9 at 1522, WJHR gospel huxter very poor but
audible, which is seldom. Is this because of irregular operation, or
just the need for enhanced propagation? 6m map showed a bit of HF
sporadic E up to 15 MHz over Alabama, not the right spot but close
enough? WWCR 15825 a bit more than JBA carrier now too. Someone
reported WJHR going off at 2000 instead of registered 2200 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5890, Jan 10 at 0333, WWCR with lots of buzzhiss especially
on the sidebands; maybe due to program audio source as seemed to clear
up later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Hauser
** CANADA. 335-MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0712 UT, dash and ND beacon YLD,
which is 1000 watts from Chapleau, Ontario.

353-MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0715, dash and NDB PG, which is 25 watts at
Portage-la-Prairie, Manitoba. CCI from two USA stations, q.v. (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 2598-USB, Jan 8 at 0655 UT, marine weather in English by
roboyl, with slight reverb: could there be two transmitter sites
emitting the same feed? S7 vs S5 noise level and hard to copy. 0658
mentions ``northern Grand Banx`` i.e. off Nfld. ``storm warnings in
effect``. 0701 `` ----- radio, out``. But none of the three references
checked show any broadcasts on this frequency just before 0700!
Placentia NL VCP supposedly starts at 0737. Nothing was on sibling
frequency 2749-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9965, Jan 8 at 1551, pulse jamming against nothing. The only
reason for Cuban jamming of this frequency was Radio República when it
was still running an ELCOR transmitter in COSTA RICA. As of July
*2011* we were noting that it was no longer there, and relays via
Sackville had already started on 9490 (later replaced by Issoudun, to
this day). A fine example of jammed once, jammed forever, as Cuba
continues to pollute the SW bands for no reason whatsoever, not even
the evil reason of jamming *something* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Jan 8 at 1543, `Sonido Cubano` but just barely
modulated music at S9; while // 15140 is OK at S9+10; as is 13700,
S9+10 without spurs. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11850 undermodulated, // 15140 overmodulated/distorted, //
15370 good modulation, Jan 8 at 2126 with fill music in Spanish, too
late to ascertain program language this date from 2100, but surely all
the same rather than three different as scheduled. At 2130, 15140 to
dead air and off; 15370 off; 11880 into Brazuguese (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** PERU. 5980, Jan 8 at 2353, carrier from R. Chaski vs Cuban jamming,
until autocutoff at 2354:01.5, which is 3.5 seconds earlier than 48
hours ago, averaging 1.75 each (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 8 at 2350, VOT has made it on the air today,
perhaps as early as 2300 for English; now it`s over and into IS, which
keeps playing and from 2356 includes IDs every semiminute in German:
``Hier ist die Stimme der Türkei``; at 0000 January 9 timesignal
ending a sesquisecond late! Look, if you can`t do better than that,
don`t do a timesignal at all, which imply precision like from a legit
TS station, CHU I was comparing this to. And opening program in
German, news, unknown for how much longer this spurious broadcast.
Something`s always wrong at Emirler. Wolfgang Büschel picks this up
today:

livestream anliegende TRT DEUTSCH Sendung. Heute um 0022-0024 UT einen
Reisebericht der folklore feature Ecke, gehört auf den remote Perseus
in New Jersey östliche USA Küste mit S=9+20dB. 73 wb`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 353-MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0715, besides PG from CANADA, q.v.,
two US NDBs mixing, IN and LI. Same pitch but different pitch than PG;
IN and LI have slightly different periods, so if you listen long
enough they are more or less alternating rather than conflicting
making for ``strange`` Morse code. IN is 100 watts from International
Falls, Minnesota; LI is 400 watts from Little Rock, Arkansas (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2015 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday January
8 at 2100 on WRMI 7780, fair; for at least the second week at this
secret time represented by a blank space on the System F skedgrid.
There is another blank at the same time Friday which should be
checked.

Also confirmed Wed Jan 8 from 2200:20 on WBCQ 7490.252v, good S9/+10,
further off-frequency but not a problem as long as there is no QRM.
(EiBi shows CNR1 at 2023-2400 on 7490 but no trace of it here.)

Also confirmed UT Thu Jan 9 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair S7-S9.

New WOR 2016 should be ready early UT Friday Jan 10 and first SWBC at
0900 on Unique Radio 5045-USB; 2300 on jammed WRMI 9955 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VIETNAM [non]. 7315, Jan 9 at 0001, VOV opening English via WHRI.
During first couple minutes there was ``running water`` QRM followed
by some crosstalk briefly; strange. But this relay is certainly still
in effect, despite absent last night at 0140. Also in Vietnamese from
0100 check when it`s S9+30/40. Tnx to Alan Roe, Wolfgang Bueschel,
Paul Walker, all of whom reported hearing this earlier in 2020y (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
