UNIDENTIFIED. 1230, Dec 29 at 0725 UT, one signal atop the graveyard
pileup, with C2CAM, // 1110 & 1100. Guess is my nearest, WBBZ Ponca
City OK, U1 1000/1000. 79 km = 49 miles city-to-city. Normally not
enough to dominate. It`s one of countless, or rather uncounted, C2CAM
affils on 1230 per NRC AM Log. See also unID 1580 (Glenn Hauser, Enid

Logs
** EGYPT [non]. 9440, Dec 28 at 2115 and later, NO signal into UTwente
from R. Cairo in English. Something`s always amiss at Abis (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GUATEMALA. 4052.5 or 4055 kHz, part of nightly bandscans in case
TGAV should reappear, nothing yet. And maybe never: received this Dec
28 from Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, my translation:

``Hello Glenn, several months ago, the alleged reactivation of Radio
Verdad, Chiquimula, Guatemala, on their frequency of 4055 kHz was
discussed. As you well know, el Sr. Édgar Amílcar Madrid, after the
short wave transmitter stopped working years ago, was allegedly
deceived by someone who sold him a fictitious short wave system via
satellite and with a multitude of minitransmitters distributed
throughout the world, so that the station could be heard on 4055 kHz
at any hour of the day or of the night and in any place of the world,
the system that after months and months of deception, and asking for
money, evidently never worked.

Upon giving up on what I understand was a fraudulent and fictitious
project, it seems that he decided to resume SW with a new transmitter.
In the month of September I got in contact with him to find out how
the project was going, and he replied:

"I am awaiting a new very modern transmitter, very soon. It`s 1,200
watts, computerized, made in Frankfurt, Germany. We already have the
antenna on hand, also modern, and some accessories are also arriving.
I don't know exactly when the transmitter will arrive in Guatemala,
but it will be later. We have already paid for everything, and we are
seeing problems with customs charges.

When we get the transmitter, we will see first of all the
installations and then we plan to inaugurate it in Chiquimula. We have
been assisted by engineer Ernesto Santizo, in the United States.

Unfortunately, there has been a lot of opposition to this project. We
don`t want to announce anything yet. Once it`s installed, I`ll inform
DXers in order to get their reports.

Thank you for your interest in Radio Verdad."

Yesterday, the 27th of December, I sent him a new email to see if the
reactivation of Radio Verdad would be imminent, and his response was
this:

"It seems that the transmitter is arriving already in Mexico. Right
now they are demanding money I don`t have in order to send it and I
don`t know how I am going to do that. Thank you for your interest. May
God bless and protect you."

The truth is that everything seems to indicate, I hope it's not like
this and I'm mistaken, that the same or other people who scammed the
system via satellite, are doing it again with this new short wave
transmitter. I have searched on Google and not found any manufacturer
of short wave transmitters in Frankfurt, Germany, although there could
be one, and the manner of asking him for money, now telling him that
the transmitter is in Mexico and that he needs to pay more, while
before he said that he had everything paid, reminds me very much of
what happened before.

Cordial greetings, and a very happy 2025, Manuel Méndez``

It seems ``Ernesto Santizo`` is too common a name, search ranging from
a professor of medicine in Guatemala to an inmate in North Carolina.
The word santizo literally means ``I sanctify`` -- earnestly (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 28465 USB, Dec 27 at 2310, JG1HQA in Tokyo where it`s 8:10
am Saturday. QRZ.com: ``JG1HQA Japan flag Japan, KOHJI SATO, 13-12
HEMIGAOKA, YOKOSUKA-CITY, KANAGAWA 238-0044, Japan`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 660, Dec 27 at 2315 UT, dominant signal is Spanish with
spirited sportstalk, on my N/S antenna only. Must be XEFZ Monterrey,
the only sports format in Mexico or USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Before it`s too late after nominal Xmas, UT Sat Dec 28
about 0015-0145 we visit four Enid Xmas light neighborhoods, two or
three of which in past have included sound on Part 15 LP FM
transmitters. First, the Singing Xmas Trees at the NE corner of Oak &
Oakwood, in a former oil well lot. Different design this year, reduced
size of trees but lots of other flashing multi-colored lites, and
``tune to 89.5`` where only a couple of songs in stereo are playing in
rotation. Alvin! not included.

The second one in the Pheasant Run neighborhood on the western edge of
Garland instead of sound and light show has a scrolling apology that
he wasn`t able to build it this year because of a knee injury, hope to
next year. Still plenty of nice static lights on trees and house. Two
other areas in NW quadrant of Enid, found no FM and not much
animation (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO, has jumbled its scheduling around without
updating all its automation. Sat Dec 28 at 1659 UT, introduces `Reel
Music` with funding credit; 1700 really plays `The Opera Show` which
has replaced this airing, with ``Amahl & the Night Visitors``. Per
skedgrid, `Reel Music` repeat is now Sats 5 pm = 23 UT; original still
Fridays 1 pm = 19 UT; complete with annoying ``snack bar``
interruptions (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, Dec 28 at 1820 UT, 17-1 of K17JN-D, Enid, 3ABN is
still silent a pentaday after last noted, while the other subchannels
present both A&V except for those which are audio-only with ``radio``
stations, and still false ID as K17JI-D. This cult really doesn`t have
its act together (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Dec 27 at 2258, REE is VG direct, S9+30/40; 12030
audible poorly; 17715 & 17755 JBA carriers. 2300 open token English
from SNR, to be about circus performers. News starts with analysis by
the opposition party of the year in politix; 19/12 more migrants died
trying to get into Canary Islands; 10K have died in 2024 including
minors/miners. By 2311 interviewing a ``trapeze artist`` who started
doing that at age 11 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Dec 27 at 2258, NO signal direct from VOT -
BUT on 9610 JBA is the TRT IS - so yet again, dozing op at Emirler,
where something is always erroneous, failed to turn that off by 2230
and retune transmitter to 5960 for 2300! Not checked further until
2356 via UTwente, NOW 5960+ is on in IS with IDs now in German.
Something else is erroneous at Emirler. 2400 TS and start s/on in
extraneous German, but chopped after a few seconds, uncovering China
with its anthem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9610, Sat Dec 28 at 2143, VOT English eastward, VG off the
back S9+5/25 into UTwente, with `The Energy Agenda`, somehow relating
the Hamas attack on Israel `13` months ago to energy, and Lebanon
having been subject to Israel attax since 2003. 2147 multi-lingual ID
filler reel. Heavy splash from China on 9600, second-adjacent, music.
2200 TRTVOTVorld promo, `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` about what?
Sounded like wood-packages, or was it tanager woodpecker meatballs??
over already at 2203 into music, so tune out for something else. Can
pick up the rest a sesquihour later?

[non] 5960, Sat Dec 28 at 2300 and further chex rest of hour, NO
signal into UTwente from VOT English for NAm; nor on possible overtime
accidental alternate, 9610, rather Chinese and Mongolian. Something`s
always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 400 MCW kHz, Dec 28 at 0718 UT, AHQ, Wahoo, Nebraska, NDB is
JBA. Copied best tuned to 400.7 USB. RNA list shows 0 watts power,
presumably a default when really unknown. DXinfocentre.com shows 25
watts. Wahoo is west of Omaha, north of Lincoln (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2275 monitoring: confirmed Friday December 27

Also confirmed Friday December 27 at 2333 the 2330 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.002, S7/S8 and noisy into UTwente.

America stream.

Also confirmed Saturday December 28 at 1830 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002, S9/+10 but noisy into UTwente.

Also confirmed Saturday December 28 at 2030 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
S9+20 into nearby SDR, already 22 minutes into so must have started
way early about 2008. Next:

0000 UT Sunday WTWW 9475 [suspended];

** U S A. 7490 -76 Hz = 7489.924, UT Sat Dec 28 at 0100, on caradio
while visiting Enid Xmas light and sound show, sporadic monitoring of
`AAAWWW` on WBCQ. Like recently, inserts more music bits than before,
as chosen by Angela and played from Allan`s phone. Starting with
``Let`s Celebrate`` tune. At 0111 says on 7490 and hopes also on 5130,
this being 27th of December, YOOLF 2024. At some point referred to
2025 changes upcoming, including TOMBS is leaving 6160. Did anyone
copy anything further about those? 0125 notes new issue of Free Radio
Weekly has come in, saving to refer to later. Which he is doing at
0153 when I retune at home via Maryland SDR when measured, S9/+20. At
0155 mentions briefly my Oklahoma pirates on 95.1 and 1670, with no
further details whatsoever. Finished slightly after 0200 JIP Hal
Turner. I also found // 5130 -26 Hz = 5129.974, S7/S9 into Maryland
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (90.3), I like to listen to `Film At Five` on WCLV Cleveland
webcast, Saturdays at 22-23 UT = 5 pm EST, cinemamusic, but Dec 28 a
different such show, `The Film Score` from WFMT network. Still on the
WCLV sked for today is F@5, so maybe a temp holiday substitute? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

ASCENSION. I am unusually bandscanning between 05 & 06 UT Dec 27,
so some `new` frequencies catch my attn on 49m, in unknown language:
6170 at 0525 and 6135 at 0538. HFCC shows both are in Hausa, half an
hour each, VOA first and BBC second. Convenient pair, could be same
transmitter? Both are on a 547 antenna, but VOA is 250 kW at 27
degrees, and BBC is 125 kW at 65 degrees - quite a disparity. 65 aims
at the SE corner of Nigeria, but 27 aims at Ivory Coast considerably
to the west of any Nigeria. HFCC antenna reference shows 547 is
``EHR(S)2/2/0.8`` whatever that mean.

Hausa is a language for which I have no ``feel`` at all - there must
be some keywords to recognize it, like however they say ``this is`` as
in an ID. Did Dr Richard E Wood`s language recognition series ever
cover Hausa? Don`t call me Hausar. Google translates ``This is the
Voice of America`` as ``Wannan ita ce Muryar Amurka`` but I don`t know
if they axually say that. It`s mainly spoken in northern Nigeria but
also: ``Hausa is one of Africa's most commonly spoken languages after
Arabic, French, English, Portuguese, and Swahili. It is a lingua
franca and a language of trade in West Africa. It is spoken in Benin,
Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo,
Eritrea, Germany, Ghana, Niger, Sudan, and Togo`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

``At 1844+ I check UTwente. All of them are in music, except 9635.000-
German talk! Later they are all talking but 9635 does not match. Must
be way out of synch at Moosbrunn, why?`` Roger Thauer replies:

``The main program from 1900-2100 was advertised as “via NDR Info +
NDR Info Spezial”. However, their program differed 1 hour before.
- NDR Info: “1 h warm up”
- NDR Info Spezial: Children's program “MIKADO”.
The 9635 kHz had therefore been fed incorrectly.`` And:

On 27/12/2024 08:18, Uwe Volk wrote: ``Hello a-dxer, due to “duplicity
of events” I was forced to record the above program. Listening to the
recording today (9635 kHz), an obvious glitch of the NDR came to
light: From 1800-1900 UT, “Mikado - Das Radio für Kinder” was
broadcast. “Gruß an Bord” then afterwards from 1900 UT. Did nobody
else notice this glitch? Many greetings, Uwe``.

As Richard Langley points out, the same Kinder hour and even worse
mixups about `Gruß an Bord` happened in 2021 (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 9818.6, Dec 27 at 0756, JBA signature off-frequency of R.
Nove de Julho; meanwhile, R Voz Missionária loud enough on 9665v.
Wolfgang Bueschel precised it Dec 25 at 0208 on 9818.588 (Glenn

** CUBA [and non]. 1040, Dec 27 at 0533 UT, wobbler/whooper audible

the recent remarks by the Minister of Energy and Mines before the
National Assembly, and reality, augur more darkness than light for
Cubans. Madrid 24 Dic 2024 - 13:50 CET

Speaking before the National Assembly of Popular Power, Cuba's
Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy, presented the

** OKLAHOMA. After a few days, rechecking my local Enid AM & FM
pirates, Dec 27 circa 2025 UT:

95.1, $ tereo pilot of seemingly mono mostly Xmasmx, full quieting for
only a few blox in downtown Enid. One tune includes notes like the
chimes of Big Ben.

1670, at Box 1684 HQ, USPS on Broadway, loops directly east/west.
Driving west on B`way it doesn`t really strengthen, and near
intersexion of Jackson & B`way loops about S/SSW; several blox further
west at Fillmore & B`way loops about S/SSE. This doesn`t really make
sense. Perhaps instead of emitting from a single source, Virtual DJ
Radio relay be coming out of power or other utility/cable lines of
which there are plenty (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** PUERTO RICO. 391 MCW kHz, Dec 27 at 0728 UT, DDP is JBA, but can`t
find any other Latin American beacons (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7570, Dec 27 at 0740, Scourby Bible-declaring within TOMBS,
then kidsing, as this WRMI continues to show at unscheduled hours,
huge signal on NW antenna, like // 5850; and // much weakers 7730,
7780, 9395, 9955. Yet 7570 has continued to be absent Sundays at 2330
when needed for WOR, instead on 7780. Maybe this week? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 660, Dec 27 at 0535 UT, immediately at tune-in, full ID in
English from KTNN, also 101.5, then C&W music. Bigsig, obviously not
nulling toward New York, loud and clear, even moreso than neighbors
650 WSM TN and 670 WSCR IL - that should take some doing. On other
occasions, little or nosig from KTNN when does go direxional as legal
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1650 kHz, Dec 27 at 0527 UT, dominant signal in Spanish
sports hyper-enthusiasm, so must be El Paso KSVE, which I assume
originally connoted ``suave``. No ID heard, of course, but the only
other SS on 1650 is the gospel huxter in Colorado. Still fails to fill
overnight hours with continuous tone. I thought it was one pitch, but
at Octoberend, Tim Hall`s NV/UT border DX said ``1650 KSVE TX, El
Paso. 10/25 0604 - Still broadcasting a very loud trio of continuous
tones (400, 800 and 1200 Hz) during the overnight hours. A DX test
every night! 662 miles.`` However, Tim`s other Magnum Opus, the 2024
IRCA Mexican Log, shows a CP on 1650 in CDMX for a Radio Congreso with
the appropriate call XECPCM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
