Hauser
** CANADA. 7850-CUSB, Nov 18 at 2254, still no signal from CHU.
Richard Langley, NB, explains the disconnect with NRC website status,
Nov 18 at 1239:

``Back home now and I, too, cannot get any signal on 7850 kHz. Got in
touch with the NRC officer again and this is his reply this morning
(18 November):

"It was back up on Thursday when I changed the web status. It failed
again Thursday night and I am unable to change the web status from
home. Sorry for the inconvenience."

And at 1746 UT Nov 18: ``The website has now been updated to indicate
that 7850 kHz is down again. --Richard`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6145, Nov 18 at 0730, RHC English surprised to find here
instead of 6165, and the only frequency still on at this late hour,
S9-S8. Error? Last minute change? Experiment? 6165 was still on the
delayed B-19 schedule that Arnie sent out. Something`s always wrong at
RHC. IIRC last year he did something like this, then back to 6165.

At 0120 UT Nov 19, 6000 is on with undermodulated RHC English, but not
yet 6165, or 6145. Still neither past 0200, but at 0212 recheck, now
6145 is on, not 6165; 6145 is also undermodulated, somewhat weaker
signal than 6000, but 6145 is less distorted. Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 7340, Nov 18 at 1455, RHC poor here on NF/RF like last winter
mornings, ex-9640.

9640, Nov 18 at 2305, RHC still here in the tarde, but VP S3-S7, much
weaker than before, must be change in parameters. Anyhow makes it less
likely to splurge buzzfield.

11880, Nov 18 at 2250, second day of NF/RF for English to Africa hour,
S9+10 but just barely modulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRELAND [non]. As I reported before, IRRS 7290 was not to be heard
via UTwente when the 19-20 UT broadcast was checked last week on Nov
12 and 15, but was again heard on Nov 16. Alfredo Cotroneo replies:

``Glenn, Hearing your program tonight, reporting that IRRS was off the
air on Tue Nov 12, 2019. However, I have confirmation that our
broadcasts on 7290 kHz were run according to schedule, at least in the
last 10 days.

We have a very low SSN number and changing propagation conditions on a
day-by-day basis. Should not rely only on Twente/SDR to monitor.
Signal has been reported OK in the UK in the last few days, and very
bad, weak, interfered by China on 7295 kHz or not existent at times on
Twente. Pse see attachment for signal on 7290 in London on Tue Nov.
12, 2019, which was very strong with no signal [?? sic] on 7290 for
the entire 1 hr broadcast from 19-20 UTC. China on 7295 was
much lower and overcome by 7290.

I'll appreciate if you make a correction in the next WOR please
regarding the fact that we were indeed on air and did not miss any
broadcast on 7290. Best 73s. Alfredo Cotroneo`` (Glenn Hauser, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 7275, Nov 18 at 2256, chime IS repeating alternating
with announcements in Vietnamese including keywords ``phat-thanh``.
Must be KBSWR about to start Viet hour; WRTH 2019 page 481 quotes full
ID and explains the IS: ```Korean children`s song ``Dar-a Dar-a
Balgeun Dar-a (Oh Bright Moon)`` played on a glockenspiel``` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Nov 18 at 2300, REE English, Justin Coe
introducing ``Concerto 1700`` playing some restored early music. Very
nice, but forget about any current events (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** TIBET [non]. 7496.0, Nov 18 at 2256, JBA carrier far enough away
from WBCQ. Smax of Voice of Tibet via TAJIKISTAN on typical split
frequency. Latest Aoki is close, showing VOT at 2300-2305 & 2335-2400
on 7496. I assume the ChiCom still also jam these from `even`
frequencies but nothing now on 7495 or 7500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2008 monitoring: confirmed UT
Monday November 18 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, good S9+10, better than
usual, but again this week not on // 9395 where the Xmas music show is
running.

Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 18 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, also good S9+10,
but not on // 9395 which we were hoping to restore; anyway the latter
is JBA in some fill? music.

Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 18 from 0401 on Area 51 webcast; JBA at 0413
check on WBCQ 5130-; and by now 9330 is no longer to be heard altho
duplicating 5130 earlier from 0200 with Johnny Lightning. John Carver
says that cut off abruptly at 0316.

Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 18 at 0430 on WRMI webcast, while 9955 was
VP vs pulse jamming at earlier 0413 check; but at 0457, WOR could be
detected under the jamming.

Out and missed checking via UTwente, Monday Nov 18 circa 1900 on IRRS
7290 via Romania; did anyone hear it and whether WOR aired intact from
1902?

Also confirmed, UT Tuesday Nov 19 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, very poor
S6-S8; by 0120 better S9+10/S7. Next:
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, UT Mon Nov 18 at 0200, WBCQ-6 has switched to
simulcast Area 51 on 5130v, instead of 7490 for several preceding
hours, i.e. `Johnny Lightning` following `Encore` at 0100 which
followed `Le Show` from 0000.

We hoped 9330 would still be running until at least 0430 thus
including WORLD OF RADIO, but by 0400, nothing more to be heard on
9330. John Carver, mid-north Indiana, reports:

``Caught your message about 9330 late last evening. Tuned over and
listened to John Lightning until about 0316 when 9330 just stopped in
mid sentence. Went back to 5130 but did check 9330 over the next
fifteen minutes or so and it didn't come back. 5130 went to hell
during WOR from propagation so tuned over to 9955 [WRMI] and caught
the entire WOR there in the following half hour.``

9330, Nov 18 at 2249, WBCQ-6 on air again with gospel huxter citing
Malachi, presumed but not positively WLC Radio, S9+25/35.

Next check 2307, rock music certainly not WLC, but not //7490 either,
whence? Soon DJ as ``Captain Bill``, talking about sailing to Exuma,
sponsored by hydro-organic-something; 2309 next tune is `Southern
Cross`` by CS&N. Sounds like something that could be on WHVW. But
nothing found about him on WHVW FB, year-old program sked, and linked
website http://www.whvw.net is gone, parked by Godaddy.

9330, Nov 19 at 0210, still rock music, not WLC, S9/+10 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 6961-USB, Sun Nov 17 at 2232, some king of military net
with abbr`d IDs including 221, 225, 211, 212, 218. Finally the NCS IDs
fonetikally as CIW311, i.e. CFARS, the Canadian equivalent of our
MARS, and in fact they invite MARS stations to check in too; none
heard. No traffic, and closing net at 2235 17 Nov, but conversation
continues about radar QRM believed from China which gets worse this
time of year. Still going past 2243; intruding into our pirate band,
hi, but whence there is no activity now. Exactly where are these CIW
stations? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11880, Sun Nov 17 at 2223, RHC English finally makes QSY
ex-7380 for ``African`` service, as Arnie`s long-delayed B-19 schedule
starts to effexuate. His `DXers Unlimited` is just ending, with
suptorted modulation on S9+20 signal. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11850, RHC is still on in Spanish at 2246 Nov 17, but
undermodulated and suptorted, along with parasitic spurs on 11840; and
on 11860 QRMing the jamming-against-nothing after OCB is over. At 2248
I also find a JBA signal on 11910, which might be a new leapfrog
mixing product of 11850 over 11880 another 30 kHz beyond, if both from
same of three transmitter sites --- but not enough modulation on any
to make a definite match. NHK in Japanese is also scheduled on 11910,
but no comparison to 9890. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, Nov 17 at 2256, no signal from RHC, which was supposed
to continue as a tarde channel in the new schedule. But something is
JBA, such as KBS in Korean, or CRI in Spanish via East Turkistan, both
scheduled until 2300 (and after 2300, Ukraine has ``reserved`` this
frequency! to Canada in Ukrainian, English until 0700) (Glenn Hauser,,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN. Wolfgang Bueschel did a TDOA from Khabarovsk, Hanoi SDRs to
locate the site of RJ on 9890 around 2230 Nov 17, which does show it
coming from Japan, despite the incredibly strong signal I am getting,
so either short path off the back, or equally unlikely long path
beyond SE Asia, not both as I am hearing no echo (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 9105, Nov 17 at 2251, JBA talk, presumed Echo of Hope
on jumparound frequency, usually heard in our mornings instead (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9685 & 9695, Nov 17 at 2257, REE 9690 is putting out spurs
during music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2008 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
November 17 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, fair S8-S9. Next:
0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 6160v? to WSW
0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, Nov 17 at 2129, continued from last report, WBCQ-6
still blasting in with rock music; at 2200 must have switched to
simulcast 7490.1v for `Marion`s Attic`, S9+45 but not synchronized,
rather 32 seconds delayed. The program must be taking a very
convoluted route from one transmitter to another, like via Internet,
or cosmikdebris in Maryland? Now at 2215, no strain to hear that show,
all the scratches loud and clear! 2259 wrapup with no mention of being
on the S-S 9330; bet they don`t know about the bonus.

Ditto for 2300 simulcast continuing with `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot`,
starting with ``IS`` and ``time signal``, this time featuring parodies
starting with ``Fax Man``. 2330 signal fades down some for the unnamed
music filler, and for 0000 Nov 18 `Le Show`. By 0020, 9330 has faded
down so much that 7490 is sometimes better! MUF trumps kW. But before
0100, 9330 has improved somewhat, and continues with bonus for
`Encore` classical music, as if trying to outshine 6115 WWCR from 24
hours earlier: but this is just a test, which if successful will lead
to turnover one more time to WLC programming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9212-USB, Nov 17 at 2252, 2-way in Spanish, some VP,
some good (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ARGENTINA [non]. 7780, Sat Nov 16 at 2213, RAE in German, fair via
WRMI. On at least Mon Nov 11, Wolfgang Bueschel reported music instead
of German during this hour. WRMI skedgrid currently shows System F
*program* schedule with RAE German 7 days a week at 22-23 on 7780. And
also Mon-Sat at 1600-1700 on 7780, when I have yet to check it, but
should not be good for Europe in full-day path even tho aimed that
way.

The WRMI *transmitter* schedule atop however, shows #1, 7780 at 22-23
M-F with musical APS Radio! Maybe so, but RAE German fills in only on
weekends with old weekday show(s)? A separate RAE schedule block on
the WRMI page claims German is only 2200-2300 M-F on 9395!

At same time, Sat Nov 16 at 2214 I survey some other WRMIs: 6060 SMTV,
9395 Oldies?, 9955 gospel huxter in English; 15770 TOMBS (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 10000, Nov 16 a 2230, Observatório Nacional with 19:30:10
timecheck, pip every dekasecond, etc. Poor but about equal level now
to WWV or WWVH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 328 kHz, Nov 17 at 0722, dash and YTL NDBeacon, 1000 watts
from Big Trout Lake, Ontario. Location and background info on this one
in my Oct 9 log, also in DXLD 19-41. 332 kHz, QT Thunder Bay mixing
with IC Wichita also logged both dates (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CHINA. 12190, Nov 16 at 2330, very poor Chinese vs CODAR, so then
hunt for some more CNR1 jammers: 11785 with big clash; and WOOBs at
2335: 11100 JBA, 10920 S4-S5, 10870 S5-S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15684.5 and 15690.7, Nov 17 at 1452, squealy/squeaky
modulation peak spurblobs out of 15700 CRI English relay, also on plus
side, computed but not measured as 15709.3 and 15715.5. Something`s
always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non?]. 9890, Nov 16 at 2231, NHK Japanese at S9+20/30!
Latest HFCC, Aoki and EiBi all claim site is Yamata, direct from Japan
but aimed away from us at 235 degrees. As does NHK itself:

https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/resources/brochure/pdf/rj_frequency.pdf
I continue to suspect it`s really a relay from east of here. Could
someone do a TDOA on this at 21-23? It`s by far the best signal on
band from E Asia, altho China radio war is S8-S9 on 9620v (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PHILIPPINES. 7460, Nov 16 at 2229, VOA closing in English, S7-S9,
from Washington DC, Yankee Doodle Dandy sign-off. It`s end of semihour
in Khmer via Tinang (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 16 at 2343, no signal from VOT English to N
America, just JBA carrier 5960- from Xinjiang PBS --- so could not
have heard repeat of Letterbox circa 2315, as I wished to in last
report. Circa 0415 Nov 17, 6125 is on but very poor, unreadable.
Fortunately, Alan Holder, Isle of Wight has replied to my inquiry:

``Hi Glenn, I just read your log for November 16 on the Hard-Core-DX
site and saw your remarks about my letter being read out on Voice of
Turkey on that day. Maybe you heard the repeat on 5960 at 2315 and
managed to hear more of the programme, or did they come up with
‘Deutsch’ again?

I have been corresponding with TRT on and off since 1970. The current
presenter’s name on “Letterbox” is Halibrahim Sarıkaya (no dot on the
‘i’ – it is pronounced Sarekaya.

He does a great job in reading out the letters and does not appear to
be using a script. He often tells the listeners about happenings in
his personal life, which makes for an interesting show. When I write
in, I always include some comments and suggestions for future
programmes with my reception report. It’s too bad that so many
listeners who write to the station are just QSL hunters and also
request too many freebies which the station does not have, such as
smartphones for instance.

Towards the end of this show the presenter gave his opinion on
terrorists and mentioned the reason for Turkey’s military involvement
in Syria. Turkey is anxious to return the 4 million or so refugees
back to Syria, into ‘safe’ areas which will remain under the
protection of Turkish forces.

A few weeks ago, the presenter was involved in a motorcycle accident,
in which he managed to break a few ribs and was covered in bruises.
He was trying out his new machine for the first time, travelling in
the countryside. A flock of sheep were crossing the road with the
farmer, so he waited for them to pass. Unfortunately, when he carried
on he came across a stray sheep, hit it at about 20 kmph and came off
his bike. The sheep was unharmed.

I am wondering what that interference is that you found later on
12032.5. Maybe it was something local. As you know, there are no other
broadcasts scheduled near 12035 at this time, which would be subjected
to jamming. Reception on 12035 is always excellent in the U.K., with a
powerful signal. [maybe Cuban stray --- gh]

So far TRT remains committed to short wave, but the transmitters at
Emirler are getting on for 30 years old now and what will happen when
the time comes for their replacement is anybody’s guess. 73, Alan
Holder, Isle of Wight. U.K.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 6501-USB, Nov 16 at 2227, distorted USCG station --- have
they no shame? Anyham would not allow her SSB transmission to sound so
bad like this! As I tune in, e-mail addresses are being given but I
can`t copy; this seems unusual. Then North Atlantic tropical
depression info from National Hurricane Center, so the season is still
running in mid-November. EiBi shows frequency time-shared among
Chesapeake, Kodiak, Guam, Honolulu, not to mention Fuzhou, but very
likely this be Chesapeake VA, altho during a 2205-2315 gap between NMN
times. Maybe it make DST/ST one-hour shifts unaccounted for here? Oh2,
EiBi has not been updated since Oct 22 still in DST season. Oops, I
had bookmarked A-19 sked but there is now B-19 as of Nov 6 at
http://eibispace.de/dx/freq-b19.txt
but still shows the same UT hours for NMN et al. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13565-CW, Nov 17 at 1449, K6FRC beacon from California is
doing well today for a few watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2008 monitoring: not confirmed Saturday
November 16 at 2057 UT the approx. 2030 airing on WA0RCR, 1860-AM,
Wentzville MO --- nor did I expect to hear it, but checking for a
trace, I do get a JBA carrier in full daytime, vs high local line
noise level only in this part of spectrum. Those closer to St Louis,
especially north and east of there with even lower solar angles will
have a better chance as we transit the shortest days of the year.

Currently lacking any SWBC stations for WOR Saturday afternoons and
evenings, next chance is repeat on WA0RCR, 1860-AM. I start checking
at nominal 0417 UT Sunday, S9+20/30 of ham news; 0446 AMSAT is sending
SSTV images; 0507 recheck, now WOR is underway at yacht race item
about France, about 6 minutes into so started this week circa 0501;
our listeners there, please hang loose. Next:

** U S A. 9330.00, Nov 17 at 1941, WBCQ-6 500 kW super-station is
finally on again, not WLC Radio but ``Sweet Caroline`` so music test
at S9+20 and 2007 recheck, more classic rock peaking S9+30; so aimed
thisaway or thataway? First time heard here since afternoon of Oct 30,
and maybe first time heard anywhere (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. As I reported to Brice Avery about his first `Encore`
broadcast via WWCR-1, 6115, early UT Sunday Nov 17:

``Brice, Perhaps you were monitoring live, but in case not, I must
report some discrepancies on WWCR: at 0129 another audio started
playing against your music -- an automatic commercial, or start
another program. Fortunately it was cut off in a minute.

Encore was abruptly cut off at 0158 during the play-out, for frequency
change announcement to 3215, and immediately off the 6115 air. So
you`d better make them no more than 58 minutes from now on. (Since you
never do an announcement at the very end perhaps you expect the final
music to be cut off, but I would not encourage that). Looks like Brady
has not been helpful enough.

In addition to the continuous squeal on this transmitter, which the
music overrides much of the time, except in quiet passages, and/or
depending on your speaker/playback audio response.

I did axually listen on 6115 thruout with its very strong signal, only
briefly checking the webcast, and confirmed lack of squeal there.
Glenn`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Nov 17 from 0100, I`m running WTWW on a
portable with inadequate whip antenna as I am really listening to WWCR
6115 for `Encore` classical music, q.v. So WTWW-2 is JBA at first but
just ham talk; by 0118 signal has surged to VG on same rig, why? But
still no `Theater Organ in the Ozarx`. Rather a ham ad by Ted, or make
that an infomercial, since he goes on and on and on. Still no trace of
TOITO this hour unlike last week`s rerun. `Amateur Radio Newsline`
ends at 0141, into rock music.

9475, Nov 17 at 1517 check, WTWW-1 is off despite schedule for Sunday
mornings; 5830 was on past 0600. All we can conclude is that it is
unreliable, unpredictable, irregular, irrelevant (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3215, Sat Nov 16 at 2332, no signal yet from WWRB. Website
info is woefully outdated, one page saying it start at 6 pm EST daily
(2300 UT), another at 7:30 pm, no zone given. We know from monitoring
it`s *only* active on Saturday and Sunday evenings, whatever the exact
times into UT Mondays.

The program sked grid for ``Global 1``, then 5050,
http://www.wwrb.org/schedule/global_1/combined.pdf
still shows WORLD OF RADIO Thursdays at 11:30 pm --- wish it were, but
WWRB was the only SW station I had to drop due to unreliability, as of
Dec 19, 2014 as in the WOR schedule-change archive at

** CANADA. 6030, Nov 16 at 1333, JBA carrier. Could it be CFVP
Calgary? Best window to get its 100 watts after the Cuban radio war is
finished for the night, yet near-sunrise propagation. In fact, have
seen no reports of CFVP for many months and wonder if it has closed
down? I don`t recall any explicit news of that, but the last log I can
find of it was by nearby Harold Sellers last December 21! But I may
have missed some; how about it, Harold? Those close enough like Vernon
BC could hear it all day (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 7850, Nov 16 at 1358, still NO signal from CHU, despite
allegedly Online per
https://nrc.canada.ca/en/chu-short-wave-station/
--- what do they know? I do hear some SSB scratching nearby (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Nov 16 at 0540, RHC English is suptorted with audio
breakup and some hum; 6100 similar but less breakup; 6165
undermodulated but not distorted; ending Caribbean show, better
modulation on music than talk. 5040 is still in Spanish this hour.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13566, 13633, 13766, 13833 approx., Nov 16 at 1505, RHC-FM
spurs with F# tone out of 13700-AM; spurs also readable in AM mode,
while 13700 itself is readable only in AM mode. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Nov 16 by 1935, I finally find some music suitable
for napping, from reliable VOG, but only fair and fadey signal;
scanned the higher SW bands which were almost all vacant, talk or a
with few non-soporific music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRELAND [non]. 7290, Sat Nov 16 at 1855, via UTwente SDR, IRRS
carrier via ROMANIA has just come on with good signal never audible in
OK across dayside, restored after AWOL yesterday. Vs huge splash from
CRI 7285. At about 1857, CRI switches to 7295 for just as bad splash
from other side. Opposite SB tuning and/or narrow bandwidth help but
do not eliminate the ACI. Dead air remains a bit past 1900 (or
internet delay?), about 1900.5 FSN = Feature Story News JIP, without
any IRRS Aida IS or sign-on. 1901.5, another FSN ID. 1903.5 change to
``News in Brief from the United Nations``. Audio is breaking up but
it`s a UTwente problem since same happens to CRI, even after refresh.
Then it`s time for brunch and nap; no WOR fragment now as was reported
a biweek ago. 1955 recheck, some talk show is cut at 1958.5 to IRRS ID
and sign-off, QSL offer, different theme for closing, and off about
1900* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [and non]. 6000, Nov 16 at 1335, RHC with noise
jamming, serves them right; no signal on 5995 and JBA carrier on 5990
probably China, so presumed 6000 be today`s frequency for Echo of Hope
+ jamming as in the Nov 15 edition of Aoki/NDXC. Less QRM to RHC //
6100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 6085, Nov 16 at 1331, alarm SFX and Shiokaze
IDs, Korean, from JAPAN; S9 and no jamming audible (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 12035, Sat Nov 16 at 1346, VOT during `Letterbox` show,
reading long missive from Alan Holder, Isle of Wight, who is also a
correspondent of ours. Personal info such as best wishes to
presenter`s grandmother but she is still in intensive care; and seems
the presenter himself is recovering from a bike accident. Perhaps Alan
can clarify this, including presenter`s name. Or try to hear repeats
of this first English broadcast of the day, such as 2315 on 5960 if
they manage to get on air, or UT Sunday 0415 on 6125. Copy difficult
now due to heavy pulse jamming(?) at the rate of 4X per second,
centred about 12032.5, inevitable even by USB tuning (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U A E. 11925.114, Nov 16 at 1341, VP carrier vs huge OCB splash
from 11930, i.e. NHK Indonesian relay, to be followed by way
off-frequency English at 1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2008 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
November 16 at 1321 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA S3-S5 but presumably
better in Europe where it`s aimed. 1356 recheck hearing beepery, so SW
Radiogram or something else? SWR is sked on 15770 Fridays at 1300, per
WRMI and per Kim, but Sat & Sun 13-14 UT blox remain blank on WRMI
skedgrid. Ivo Ivanov confirms it was SW Radiogram at 1330 Saturday.

morning, Ted plugging WTWW-1 9475 for Bible stuff from SFAW; canned ID
``America`s music on WTWW, Lebanon, Tennessee, transmitter #2 at your
service``, and rock (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

not Radio Tirana relay; 9395, Nov 16 at 0233, also music JBA instead
of RT: another week lost (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 7850, Still no CHU timesignal here at 1612 check Nov 15.
Should be audible if on. 14670 nominal.

Replying to Richard Langley at 0909 UT Nov 15: ``Back on line
according to website. Still over here in Europe so haven't personally
checked reception.``

Still no sign of 7850 at later chex by 0100 UT Nov 16 (Glenn Hauser,

** TURKEY [non]. 5960, Nov 15 at 2301, no signal from VOT English to N
America; something`s always wrong at Emirler; later in hour I do
detect a JBA carrier slightly below 5960, i.e. PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi,
East Turkistan, land of Uighur brainwashing by the ChiCom; per HFCC
opening at 2330, and per long experience always offset frequency,
something which HFCC never annotates, altho it would be helpful (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K [non]. 11825, Nov 15 at 2319, BBCWS in English good S9+10, in
quick check tnx to tip just heard from gh on WOR 2008 via WRMI 9955;
i.e. one of two hours now relayed by USAGM Tinang, PHILIPPINES, the
previous hour previously heard on 6150 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2008 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC, Friday
November 15 at 2300 on WRMI 9955 --- just like last week, starts out
with heavy wall-of-noise Cuban jamming, altho mostly readable with
concentration; jamming abates by 2308 and completely gone leaving us
in the clear until 2329 with WRMI at S9+20.

Also confirmed UT Saturday November 16 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5850 VG
S9+20/30, 5010 fair S8-S9, 7780 VP S5-S6 but good via UTwente SDR.

** U S A. 7490.07, Nov 16 at 0101, WBCQ fair S7-S8 as `AAAWWW` opens
with WTO and AW interjexions, political right away, ``Communist
Democrats``. Much better signal on 5130- with other program of music,
S9+10, and nothing on other possible frequencies 3265v, 6160v, 9330v.

John Carver notifies me right away at 0107, ``Glenn. Checked all the
frequencies and 5130 is the only frequency working and it's not AAWWW.
Sorry. John``

He doesn`t do webcasts, but I bring it up at 0148 when AW typically
gets down to business. Woes about the super-station: priced cost to
replace a tetrode: $ 250K. It has a socket problem, ring around it
shorted to ground for second time. Continental replaced it in 2 or 3
days. Still has RF feedback parasitic problem with the driver
circuitry. Needs to be fixed by design changes. Tom and Tim and Chris
from Continental have been working on it. (While off), it`s fun to
climb inside the antenna. Staff does good job, but these are vender
problems. $ 200K of spare parts have finally arrived.

Transmitter has a lot of bugs in it, as AW and TimTron knew from the
beginning. Genius Tim could design a transmitter in his sleep, but
must not modify this unit while it`s under warranty. A flimsy little
caplon(sp?) ring costs $ 4K. There is no backup transmitter for the
S-S: ``Classic`` transmitters cannot be used as they are only 50 kW
with their own fixed antennas. AW is very sorry that this has delayed
getting WLC on air, as programming is wonderful and got good response
from listeners. 0156 briefly to e-mail, including from Larry working
on improving the streaming by yearend so it will work on iphones.
There has been a lot of mike rattling by Angela and apparently Allan
as well; cut off 0200 in time for Hal Turner. Meanwhile one could have
been listening to WOR on any of 3 WRMI frequencies from 0130; as WBCQ
adhering to local time has shifted AAAWWW to air at the same real time
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
