Hauser
** AUSTRALIA. 5045-USB, Jan 3 at 0945, no signal from Unique Radio
during WORLD OF RADIO time for first SW broadcast anywhere. Not that I
was expecting to hear this low-power affiliate, but checked since I
happened to awaken during. As I said on the WOR iogroup:

``We hope all our Oz members are OK despite the bushfires. Please
check in here when you can. Here`s one recent map of the areas
affected, but not sharp boundaries:

https://www.newsweek.com/australia-wildfire-map-update-bushfires-sydney-new-south-wales-1480207#slideshow/1557316

It looks like Gunnedah, N of Sydney and just east of 150 longitude is
not far from the area, extending inland from the NSW coast. That would
affect Tim Gaynor and Unique Radio. No updates about the M/W/F
schedule at https://www.uniqueradio.biz/
How is it, Tim?`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** AUSTRIA. Re my comments on the New Year concert from Vienna:
looking again at a repeat, I do catch one quick closeup of one female
player, but from the back and quickly pulling out. As for the scenes
of Vienna, they were obviously recorded in the summer, a far cry from
what it must be like now in the winter ORF do not want us to see
(Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** CHINA. 6870, Jan 3 at 1332, Chinese at S6-S8 on noisy conditions.
Aoki shows one of countless CNR1 jamming frequencies against 24-hour
Sound of Hope. I have just tuned up from the 6.2 MHz area without
hearing any of that.

9200, Jan 3 at 1340, JBA talk instead of the open carrier used to park
here; another listed CNR1/SOH frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13560, Jan 2 at 1516, spurblob from RHC 13700 first
encountered as I tune up the band, then: 13630 S9+10 with music better
heard in AM than FM; 13700 fundamental S9+10; 13770 S9; 13840 S6;
13910 S4; 13980 & 13490 traces; all about 70 kHz intervals.
Something`s always wrong at RHC. Next day Jan 3 before 1400 however,
no spurs heard when both 13700 & 13740 fundamentals are on (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 7330-7350, Jan 3 at 1336, RHC cracklebuzzhum over this range
out of 7340 transmitter where it is also degrading the intended
modulation; just like used to happen with former 9640 frequency in the
mornings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INDIA. 11560, Jan 3 at 1355, woman talking in SW Asian language,
S6-S9. NDXC shows AIR Bengaluru in Dari at 1315-1415 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 6190, Jan 3 at 1328, Beethoven catches my ear, but stops at
end of movement, 1330 NHK IS and opening Chinese. HFCC shows Korean
and Chinese semihours alternating 1300-1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1210, Jan 3 at 0659 UT, KGYN Guymon with ID as Liberal
Kansas 106.3 KGYN, no mention of 1210. I see on website
http://stecklinecommunications.com/kgyn/
that 106.3 gets equal billing to 1210 but not top billing. That`s
really a puny translator, K292HJ, 106.3 Liberal KS, unlikely to be
very audible 36 miles away back in Guymon. On the WTFDA FM Database I
see no FM for KGYN in Guymon itself or anywhere else. K292HJ is
slightly north of the 37th parallel so really in Kansas --- like all
the other Steckline properties except 1210, which is normally audible
at night despite supposed to null toward WPHT which I managed to hear
the night before at this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1640, Jan 3 at 1313-1317+ UT, KZLS ``Enid`` in dead air
as frequently happens. Nulling it I can tell there are at least two
other talk stations there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PUERTO RICO. 391 kHz, Jan 2 at 0714 UT, ND beacon DDP, a new one,
whence? Surprised to find it`s San Juan - Dorado, 1000 watts; my first
from PR, and probably most distant at 3676 km = 2284 st mi. And I was
tuned to 389-USB (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 17615+, Jan 2 at 1515, JBA carrier the OSOB,
obviously the always off-frequency Riyadh; not a trace of 17775 KVOH
this early, but heard later, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 2 at 2347 check, REE again AWOL to North America;
not audible on 12030 either (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2015, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 2 at 2346, VOT has been on today, now wrapping up
with erroneous English schedule claiming 9515 at 0300, which was A-19;
and imaginary 0600 on 6165 --- hey, that imaginary broadcast would now
be at 0700 UT (rather than 0400 Turktime).(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 12035, Jan 3 at 1356, VOT English to Europe and onward best
heard in a long time, S9/+10 with several program segments: `Weekly
announcements`, reading an article about Turkish involvement in Libya;
1400 song; 1405 `Turkey`s Tourist Attraxions` about Mardin, Anatolia;
lite stray pulse jamming, from Cuba? 1418 new program `Turkey Building
Bridges of Kindness(?)`` on TCCA, the Turkish Cooperation and
Coordination Agency involving 170 countries; 1422 one news headline
about assassinating the Iranian general; 1423 sign-off, brief IS and
off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 8152-USB, Jan 3 at 1343 KNC hosting a net inviting check-ins
from anywhere; at 1345, KPK is heard in contact with Lady Sunscreen(?)
with position co-ordinates; and it`s well past Xmas now. 8152 is
supposed to be an afternoon frequency as previously logged, instead
8104 in the mornings per

https://www.ssca.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=710182&module_id=283983

``SSCA's Trans-Atlantic Cruisers' Net (SSCA TACN) is in operation
during the traditional Trans-Atlantic crossing seasons of mid-April
thru early July and mid-October thru Christmas.

The primary participants are:

Glenn Tuttle, Coastal Station KPK, Punta Gorda, FL
Chris Parker, Coastal Station WCY, Lakeland, FL
Jim West, Coastal Station KJM, Ellijay, GA
Dick Giddings, Coastal Station, KNC, Dover, NC

The morning SSCA HF Radio Service Net will remain with a start time of
1215 hrs UTC year round on frequency 8.104`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 10051-USB, Jan 2 at 1855, Gander Radio VOLMET, but
further chex for New York VOLMET on this and other formerly timeshared
frequencies find nothing despite a report they had been heard again:
at 1911 and 2040, 13270-USB open. At 0655 Jan 3, Gander on 6604-USB,
3485-USB and JBA on 10051-USB. All frequencies checked several other
unlogged times with no sign of NY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2015 contents: Algeria non,

** U S A. 5800, Jan 2 at 2100, WRMI is on with SMTV; some days does
not come on until later or not at all, so this time RAE Spanish at
0100 Jan 3 should be there. At 2100 FYI, much weaker 5950 is running
TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2015)

** U S A [and non]. 17775, Jan 2 at 1853, KVOH gospel huxter in
Spanish at S9+20, so it`s really on the air now; earlier at 1623 check
not a trace of it while 17830 Ascension & 17880 Mali JBA carriers were
the OSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5970, Jan 3 at 0515, after missing a few nights, WEWN is
back --- but with a slight problem: carrier modulated with Spanish
cuts off the air 84 times a minute like clockwork. How do they do
this? When on it reaches S9+10. Later at 0651 check it`s totally off.
Other frequency 9385 in English only S4-S7 but continuous (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 1090, Jan 3 at 0704 UT, dead air from KAAY Little
Rock as often happens, during which I hear a Spanish infomercial
without really trying, no doubt XEAU Monterrey; 0705 KAAY comes to
life with gospel music. USB tuning avoids the 1089 het from UK (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1210, Jan 2 at 0659 UT, PSA for Goodwill Industries in NJ
and Philadelphia so WPHT tho U1 50/50 kW, unusually dominating briefly
over KGYN et al.; I often check around this hour whether daytimer WJNL
MI still be cheating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Jan 3 at 0439-0457
finds a lot more than usual, including low-power frequencies, two
carriers beating from deeper Europe: 531, 549+(2), 558(2), 576(2),
585, 594, 603(2), 612, 621(2), 639(2), 684+, 693*, 711(2), 729(2),
738, 747, 774**(2), 783, 837(2), 846(2), 855*(2), 864, 873, 882,
891**, 909*, 936(2), 954, 963 [both sides of local 960], 981, 999,
1026(2), 1053*, 1089, 1098(2), 1107(2), 1116, 1125, 1152, 1161, 1179,
1206, 1215(2), 1296(2), 1305(2), 1314, 1323, 1413(2), 1422, 1458(2),
1521, 1539, 1566, 1575. * are the stronger ones. ** the ones with some
music modulation audible, surely Spain and Algeria (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1710, Jan 3 at 0455-0505+ UT, techno(?) music with heavy
regular beat slightly more than twice per second, and another carrier;
no ID or break at ToH. I often get a JBA carrier here, but first time
for any audio. Widely reported further east is a pirate in Virginia?
Tater Patch Radio, and Radio Corsair among others (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4020-USB, Jan 3 at 1323, formal MARS? net with abbr`d
calls fonetikaly, 7HR, 7PQ, calling for traffic then sent in some
digital mode (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9654-9658, Jan 3 AT 1348, farting-like pulses INTRUDING,
irregular but continuous; audible in SSB mode only, peaking about 9656
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST UPDATED

Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update.
https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm

1) Ecuador - HCJB (FM): added link to HCJB's local FM programming
(thanks to Dean Bonanno)
2) France - TDF: Added direct link to TDF B-19 transmission schedule
(thanks to *Gaétan Teyssonneau via WOR Groups.Io)*
3) USA - Supreme master TV: Added links to this broadcaster (thanks to
Glenn Hauser)

Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be mid
February. Happy New Year and 73 (Alan Roe, January 1)

** AUSTRIA [non]. New Year`s Day concert from Vienna: heard via WUOT
webcast, Jan 1 at 1600-1800 UT; and via PBS UT Jan 2 at 0200-0330 ---
but these are *very* different. TV is half an hour shorter, with
breaks for host tours of Wienervistas, so lots of music has to be cut;
but the visual element including ballet scenes is a plus. The British
TV host mispronounces Musikverein; it`s hard to be sure with
constantly changing camera angles, but I count only three or four
women among the Vienna Philharmonic, still far from full integration
after being a boys-only club for most of its existence. And never saw
a closeup of any of the female players. But the music is always great
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13633 & 13768 approx., Jan 1 at 1509, RHC marks the Triumph
Of The Revolution with more spurblobs out of 13700, but none found
further out. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, Jan 1 at 1908, RHC in Brazuguese, and on 11760 too ---
15140 supposed to be in Arabic, 11760 supposed to be OFF after 1900.
Something`s always wrong at RHC; something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Jan 1 at 1905, VOG playing ``Radetzky March`` ---
could it be the Wiener NYD concert --- no, soon backannounce in Greek,
but probably inspired by that. S9 +10 and overmodulation distortion,
which we hate to hear from such a musical station (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. 11550.022, Jan 1 at 1518, S9-S6 choppy in
Korean and // 11520.0 --- the NMI twins with RFA, via SAIPAN and
TINIAN respectively; yes, Saipan is the one with poor frequency
accuracy (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN [and non]. 684+, 0531 UT Jan 1, significantly off-frequency
TA carrier, compared to e.g. 693.00; such variations are very obvious
when tuning 9 kHz steps with BFO at 1-kHz offsets, my usual method.

RNE is the 200 kW bigsig here and have had it before; offness
confirmed at mwoffsets, this time relatively recently:
``684.074 E RNE Radio Nacional (Sevilla/Los Palacios) 24h 2019-02-11
sometimes on 684.07`` --- no other 684 is anywhere that far above. The
693 for comparison is probably 150 kW BBC Radio 5 Live, altho three
low-power Spaniards are also listed.

If I have any TA carrier on 774, such as 0102 UT Jan 2, it`s at least
two of them, making a beat among the multiple RNE outlets. In this
case, mwoffsets shows none more than 3 Hz low; Egypt is way off high,
774.17 or 774.8 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 1 at 2131, REE to North America is AWOL again
today; 12030 to ME is poorly audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 1 at 2339 check, VOT English to North America is
gone again today. Something`s always wrong at Emirler (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 6604-USB, Jan 1 at *2350, Gander VOLMET starts: I had
been monitoring for several minutes in case New York VOLMET should
appear as used to be scheduled before Gander each semihour --- because
Mark Coady, ODXA just reported hearing NY earlier today on another of
their once-shared frequencies:

``10051 NEWFOUNDLAND Gander Aeradio in USB at 1457 with terminal
weather forecasts for Canadian airports – Weak but audible Jan 1
Coady-ON – Sked is 20 and 50 minutes past each hour for about 10
minutes. New York Aeradio is on this frequency at other times.
10051 USA New York Aeradio in USB at 1502 with terminal weather
forecasts for American airports – Barely audible Jan 1 Coady-ON``

??? NYR went off about a sesquiyear ago and was not expected to
return. Other frequencies to check: 13270-USB, 3485-USB (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2014 monitoring: surprised to run across me
on WRMI 7780, Wed Jan 1 at 2126 toward the end, S7-S9; 2130 into
Spanish ABF about a no-show by J.C. on 1 May 2011! Wed at 2100 has
been on the System D skedgrid for months, but NO frequencies for any
program at 21-22. Now System F does show 7780 that hour with
programing changes, including blank spaces M/W/F at 2100-2130, so this
is a new(?) secret airing of WOR. The imaginary no-frequency System D
sked still also shows WOR Thu at 2100, and Tue at 2130, so need
checking tho these slots are otherwise occupied in the System F sked.

WOR confirmed as expected, Wed Jan 1 from 2200:20 on WBCQ 7490.03,
fair.

Also confirmed UT Thu Jan 2 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, good S9+10.

WOR 2015 should be ready early UT Fri Jan 3 and first broadcast on SW
Fri at 0900 on Unique Radio, NSW, 5045-USB; 2300 on WRMI 9955; UT Sat
0130 on WRMI 5010, 5850, 7780.

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5800, Jan 1 at 2130, this WRMI still off, but on later; I`m
still not clear when it start or is supposed to, now (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13685-13690-13695, Jan 1 at 1510, WINB DRM noise is on this
holiday unlike a week ago (Glenn Hauser (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** BOLIVIA. As for Bolivia, in the UT-4 zone, I`m again hearing that
JBA carrier slightly below 6025 like on Xmas eve, suspected Red Patria
Nueva; can anyone get any audio? Nothing on 5952.4 or 6134.8; 3310
could be on but blocked here by local mix (Glenn Hauser, OK, 0253 UT
Jan 1, WOR iog, HCDX and condiglista yg via DX LISTENING DIGEST) By
0405 I can no longer detect that 6025- JBA carrier, now that it`s
2020; altho splash from 6030 Martí music is heavy (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 6180, Jan 1 at 0156, RNA song is atop CRI/Cuba but with
fast SAH. Last year, Brasileiros imagined midnight was at 0200 UT due
to Daylight Shifting Time, but no DST this summer, so not until 0300
UT in the south and east. Still a fast SAH at 0256, and no respite as
at some point La Voz Alegre from Madagascar takes over from Cuba; the
fast SAH remains, so RNA is the one off-frequency slightly plus around
20-25 Hz. I can`t make out any countdown or timesignal at 0300, but
MWV is about equal level to RNA, a huge collision. By 0309, RNA has
gone off leaving LVA to its hymnic harmony in Spanish.

Earlier at 0217, I reminded our groupies:

``NYE in Brasil --- The next SW country to enter 2020:
at 0300 UT on 6180 RNA if it`s still on vs MWV Madagascar in Spanish
at 0300 UT on all the active gospel huxters on 25, 31, 49m
at 0300 UT on 4885 Para, nominally 24h
at 0400 UT on 4885 Acre
at 0400 UT on 4875 Roraima (which is stronger than the 4885s here at
0210)``

I could tell the following were active: Aparecida 11856v, Missionária
9665v, but not attempting to hear them.

4875.02, Jan 1 at 0357, now I am monitoring R. Roraima where it`s
almost 2020/midnite: at 0400 there is no timesignal or countdown but I
can make out elements of an ID, which must be a sign-off, as into dead
air which continues past 0405. If 0300 be their normal closing as in
WRTH 2020, it was at least extended an hour for the occasion.

4885v, Jan 1 at 0406, there are still two signals on here making their
characteristic double-het with a BFO (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CANADA [non]. 7850-CUSB, Dec 31 at 2359, I am prepared to render
reactivated CHU the honour of informing us of the true UT arrival of
2020y, but it`s too weak --- so a quick change to 5000 WWV just in
time to hear the 0000 timecheck January 1, 2020 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA. 9445, Dec 31 at 2245, AIR GOS sign-on with frequencies, this
one for NE Asia but best here at S5-S7; contact info, 2247 songs
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Dec 31 at 2319 tune-in, S9+10 pirate with
talkative DJ about to play ``Whiskey in the Jar``; 2324 outro Peter,
Paul & Mary on Bigg`s(?) Attic on New Year`s Eve; 2327 outro Al Hirt &
Tijuana Brass, mentions ``microphonium`` under the influence of
TimTron whom he sorta resembles, but no belches; 2333 outro another
tune, says will move ``up`` from the 43 mb to the 73 mb by 0000; ID
Zach(?) Radio; going to finish with the Beatles; 2339 another outro
now says it`s tomorrow night when will be on 73m; has to go outside
and adjust stuff first. No electrical problems, but threatens any US
agents trying to breach fortifications will find themselves in an
ant/roach motel. Final ID until off at 2340.4* sounds like ``Vicky`s
Attic Radio``. Well, everyone here calls it Zeke`s Attic Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,61900.0.html
from 2235 altho most had trouble hearing him after 2300.

But he was reported again after 0120 UT Jan 1 on 4245-USB.
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,61913.0.html
I did not hear any pirates in the 4`s after 2341, but busy with The
Capitol Steps via WVPE after 0000, and NY Philharmonic via PBS after
0100. But at 0152 check, I do have him again on 4245-USB, Zeke
lamenting he got rid of his vinyl 14 years ago; could find some in
thrift stores 5 years ago, but not any more. Everybody`s buying them
up and reselling at a profit on EBay. 0154 plays a song from 1958y.

BTW, any pirates not wanting to be heard in Enid OK should use 4170
which is blocked by KCRC X 3. Or if anyone hear that beyond Garfield
County, I`d like to know (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 31 at 2243, REE is OFF this frequency, after I
have recommended it for NYE festivities! 12030, the ME channel
second-best here oppositeward, is on with pop song in Castilian; can`t
tell if the other two, 11940 and 11685 be on due to weakness and/or
QRM. So I stick with 12030 for hourtop, yeartop; 2258 they are QRXing
for the campanadas, but fading and I can barely make them out, much
less the thelebrations to follow! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 15730, Dec 31 at 1937, VOA French via Grimesland, VG S9+20
with news axuality from Baghdad including explosions (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, Dec 31 at 2128, WRMI IS & ID loop, programming to
start ``at the top of the hour`` --- generic leadup now apropos only
in India, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, etc. The 2130 program turns out
to be Blalock the Blaster, who has now acquired an extra semi-hour on
this frequency M-F at 2130-2200 as on the transmission schedule but
not on the program schedule. BLAAAAAAAAHHHHH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5800, Dec 31 at 2239 check, WRMI-10 is on again with SMTV
after AWOL yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Now as 0500 & 0600 UT approach, over to our own celebrations. Happy
New Year to all!

** BOLIVIA [and non]. 6024.96v, a reminder to check for Radio
Illimani, New Year`s Eve, as it was believed to be the carrier active
Xmas Eve, but which I have neglected to seek interimly. Also anything
else unusual, especially on tropical bands such as temporary
reactivations or late extensions. Webcast ``DXers`` may also be
following the sweep of 2020y across the globe from timezone to
timezone. On SW, we traditionally find Spain a good one to hear
celebrating live before and after 2300 UT, on 9690 et al. (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 223 kHz, Dec 31 at 0703 UT, ND beacon YYW and dash, 1000
watts from Armstrong, Ontario.

406 kHz, Dec 31 at 0707 UT, ND beacon YLJ and dash, 40 watts from
Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6100, Dec 31 at 0658, RHC English best here, also weaker
6145, but 6100 cuts off at 0700, leaving undermodulated 6145; while
5040 was still on but in Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13768 & 13632 approx., Dec 31 at 1532, spurblobs from RHC
13700, with F# tone audible only in FM mode = about 370 Hz.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** GUAM. 7515, Dec 31 at 1614, songs on VP S5-S7 signal. Aoki/NDXC
shows the only 7515 ever is Living Water Ministry, in Korean,
1515-1615 on Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri via Agaña; same hour other days of week
is some other KTWR in Korean on 7510 instead; why?

BTW there are multiple linx to SW schedule sources including NDXC on
the WOR homepage; look for B19:
http://www.worldofradio.com
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [and non]. 7220, Tue Dec 31 at 0650, two stations
mixing, choral music and tonal talk, African? 0654 one is reciting the
VOK schedule in English, or part of it. Per Aoki the other would be DW
in Hausa via SAO TOME. China`s CNR2 via Golmud also listed at this
hour, but never on Wednesday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 13835-13840-13845, UT Dec 31 at 1935, S9+10 DRM noise
way stronger than JBA 13845-AM WWCR. RNZ Pacific scheduled 1851-1958,
its only daily DRM, the preceding ones taking Saturdays off. This
future broadcast from another decade, another year, another day. Too
bad that in such a vacant band two signals must clash so adjacently,
even tho they be for different targets from different hemispheres.
News in Tongan is coming up at 1940, where probably not a single
listener tune it direct, rather from AM/FM relays of this feeder;
altho not shown at this specific time in WRTH 2020, page 390.
Transmission starts with news in Niuean, otherwise various forms of
news in English, which DRM enthusiasts beyond may well audition (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Dec 31 at 0303, Station YHWH is on again with
Yahweh stuff, going thru its 10 Commandments, S9 peaks (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13565-CW, Dec 31 at 1533, K6FRC HIFER beacon JBA in the
clear, since the Cuban 13700 spurblobs are first-order only to 13632,
not second-order double that which would have landed around 13564;
whew (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ALGERIA [non]. 7375, Mon Dec 30 at 1925-1949, since I have UTwente
SDR running for WOR 7290 check a few minutes earlier, I set up to
record this frequency and listen later. That`s because a very recent
TDF schedule obtained by Gaétan Teyssonneau for the WOR iogroup,

https://www.tdf.fr/sites/default/files/TDF%20Short%20Waves%20B19%20transmission%20schedule%20-%20November%202019_0.pdf
prompted this reply from me:

``I do look for English language broadcasts; besides NHK at 05 on 7410
there is one other, surprisingly:
TDA 18:00 19:00 47, 46E Arabic ISS 7375 41 7123456
TDA 19:00 20:00 47, 46E English ISS 7375 41 7123456

Algerian relay in English? I don`t think so!

This led me to look for any English from Algeria. The International
network on FM has a few scattered English segments, but mostly in
French and Arabic. Day-by-day schedules, presumably in local UT+1:
http://www.radioalgerie.dz/rai/fr/grille

Some of the program titles are in English; some ambiguous; and some in
French about English! 20:30-20:41 Sunday, `Magazine Anglais` --- that
would put it in the 19-20 UT hour labeled by TDF as English; maybe
worth checking just in case this get shortwaved. Also on Monday, so
maybe daily tho I have not checked all seven. Glenn``

Further, as Ivo Ivanov points out, that sked is incomplete, lacking
three broadcasters brokered by RMI for Issoudun transmission.

So what do I hear on 7375? Big signal from RRI in Romanian, way atop
Algeria, at first Qur`aning, and then I simply can`t tell whether
buried talk be in English, but I doubt it. Also with some lite RTTY
QRM which if I were at controls might have eliminated.

Quite a collision, likely elsewhere in Eurafrica. RRI is 300 kW, 285
degrees from Galbeni for France at 1800-2100; TDA is 155 degrees out
of France for the Sahel just beyond outback Algeria (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, Dec 30 at 2132 and still 2200+, NO signal
from WRMI-10 which supposedly start at 2100 with SMTV. This bodes ill
for the RAE Spanish relay supposed to be on same at 0100. Still off at
0035 Dec 31, nor on briefly tested previously 9425 nor on 6060 which
now is occupied by RHC NLT 0000. And yes, still nil at 0100. We should
still be able to hear RAE in English at 0200-0230 on 9395, followed by
another ex-SWBC station on its own, Radio Tirana, Albania.

The January issue of El Dial (e) from Spain features a long article by
Martín Butera lamenting the ``decadence`` of RAE, at the mercy of
political winds, unable even under the enlightened new leadership of
Adrian Korol, who has SW credentials, to get a new SW transmitter of
its own. And fears that Korol`s term is about over with the latest
changes in Argentine leadership.

Butera acknowledges the WRMI relays in Spanish and English, both with
outdated info, but seems unaware of all the other languages getting on
SW, and downplays the WRMI relays as dependent on the generosity of
Jeff White. The article is profusely illustrated with photos, of
equipment, not people. I have quoted a fraxion of the text (in
Spanish) in the WOR iogroup (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ARGENTINA [and non]. Last time I was wondering what kind of doctor
that DXer Arnaldo Slaen be, as titled in `La Rosa de Tokio` publicity.
Horacio Nigro G., Uruguay, promptly replied, he`s a lawyer. That`s
interesting; maybe different in South America, but in the North, altho
many lawyers may have J.D. degrees, they rarely call themselves Drs.,
except maybe in academic settings; thus avoiding the ambiguity of that
honorific (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, Sun Dec 29 at 2356, Arnie Coro lickety-split with
propagation comments in Spanish, about to conclude `En Contacto`, must
have started circa 2345; squealy frequency yet the only one audible,
unlike on 9 or 11 MHz bands; 6060 is on by 2357 but open carrier only;
2359 current frequency announcement is woefully incomplete/incorrect
in typical Soviet-style disorder: 11670, 11700, 11950, 9640, 6000 and
FM. Misses the two I am really hearing! And 11950/6000 during this
hour only, as I keep having to point out, are weekdays only and with
separate programming, the `Mesa Redonda` TV audio simulcast. I check
again the 9s and 11s to find JBA carriers at best so maybe they be on
but propped out. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040 & 6060 & 6145, UT Mon Dec 30 at 0726 are tonight`s three
English frequencies still on the air for last playback of mailbag;
something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 13630 & 13770, Dec 30 at 1530, JBA spurs out of
13700, because the fundamental is only S7-S9, even weaker than 13710v
Sa`udi Qur`aning. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15370 good, 15140 JBM, 11880 VG, Dec 30 at 2107, all three
RHCs are in Brazuguese and synchronized; despite as in EiBi, 11880
supposed to be in Arabic, 15140 in Spanish! Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN [and non]. 5970, Dec 30 circa 1300, NO signal from
WEWN which is supposed to be on here until 1400; nor was it heard much
earlier in the UT night; instead, two stations in Chinese, i.e. RTI at
12-14 and CNR1 jamming which Aoki/NDXC says comes from Urumqi site
(land of ChiCom brainwashing Uyghurs). This could also be a problem
for PBS Gannan on 5970 in Chinese and Tibetan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** HAWAII. Re my plan to hear a delayed broadcast of The Magic Flute
on the Metropolitan Opera via KHPR-2 webcast from 0100 UT Sunday Dec
29 as scheduled --- I bring it up early at 0048, and it`s already on!
I was going by KHPR skedgrid, which has Met lined up with 3 pm HST.
But there is a blank space above it and maybe the Met was `centered`
an hour later than its real start at 2 pm? = 00 UT instead of 01.
Anyhow, it`s lofi and mono so I would not want to listen to it here
anyway. Well before 0200, KHPR has moved on to other classical music,
so Met may have started even before 0000. I might have had another
chance Sunday afternoon from two Alaskan stations. Maybe try them next
time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Dec 29 at 2354, I tune in just in time to hear the R.
Chaski carrier under Cuban jamming cut off, at 2354:22*, 18 seconds
earlier that last check Dec 21 until 2354:40*, so averaging 2.25
seconds earlier per noctem, 18 divided by 8. Or long term since first
check in latest cycle, Nov 26 until 2355:27.5*, 65.5 seconds earlier
over 33 days = average 1.985 seconds slippage per (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 7345, Dec 30 at 0718, RRI mailbag in German reading
letters at some length; 307 degree beam from Ziganeschti also serves
North America beyond. Spelling it fonetikaly into German raises the
question whether the name be related to Gypsies, or rather Roma. Say,
could that name be linked to Romania? Altho hardly Latinate (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also ALGERIA [non]

** TAIWAN. 9530, Dec 30 at 1308 past 1323, open carrier of S9-S6,
stronger than adjacent 9535 Cuba, weaker than 9570 China via Cuba.
Aoki/NDXC shows only Nippon no Kaze, Korean via Paochung, Taiwan site
during this semihour (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 395 kHz, Dec 30 at 1241 UT, ND beacon CA, which is 25 watts
in Newton - Harvs, Kansas; mixing with ULS, also 25 watts, from
Ulysses KS; they are 221 miles apart, maybe enough considering the
power.

420 kHz, Dec 30 at 1244 UT, ND beacon FQ, which is 25 watts in
Fairmont, Minnesota. I was tuned to 418-USB.

BTW, on the LW/MW band, USA NDBs range from 198 to 429 kHz; Canadians
195 to 414; so any heard higher in the 400s would have to be from
further worldparts (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2014 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
Dec 29 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, S8-S9 with a slight het from 7780.5.

Also confirmed UT Monday Dec 30 at 0130 on WRMI 7780 after Bob Zanotti
tries to get his name in edgewise, S6-S9 with some deep fades here,
but good a few minutes later at UTwente SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday Dec 30 at 0230 on WRMIs, 7780 good and 9395
fair, both checked via UTwente only. Richard Langley, NB says of all
three 7780 airings, ``(no words cut off nor overridden this week)``.

Also confirmed UT Monday Dec 30 at 0230 on WRN webcast, correct
edition 2014 after two weeks of replaying 2011.

Also confirmed UT Monday Dec 30 from 0400 on Area 51 webcast, still
overmodulated; and at 0428 check via WBCQ 5130, S9 but noisy and not
ending until 0430:21 as if it were a sesquimnute longer than
originally; not sure why as internet delay should not be that much. Or
maybe I had paused Winamp at some point? Did not expect pause to
funxion on Winamp like Realplayer used to, but maybe it does.

Also confirmed UT Monday Dec 30 at 0430 on WRMI, JBA on very weak
signal under Cuban pulse jamming; OK on webcast.

Also confirmed Monday Dec 30 at 1901 on IRRS, 7290 via Romania(?) good
into UTwente SDR but considerably weaker than usual; came on just in
time for Aïda, sign-on, a few news headlines, and WOR from the
beginning.

Also confirmed UT Tuesday Dec 31 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair; and via
UTwente SDR, good. Next:

0900 UT Wednesday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

** U S A. (7490), Dec 29 at 2330, after `UBMP` on WBCQ webcast (which
memorializes ancient 7415 frequency in its URL), dead air, presumably
for the remaining semihour until `Le Show` like happened last week;
surely there should be fill music at least; or say, I have a handy
avialble program --- but I understand that some new show is planned in
this slot. 7490 itself is too weak to be sure that its air also be
dead (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5970, Dec 30 circa 1300, no signal from WEWN Spanish; was
also missing much earlier in the UT night. Instead hearing Chinese2
here, see EAST TURKISTAN. WEWN day frequencies 12050 and in English
afternoons 15610 do seem to be on tho poorly audible (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1540, Dec 30 at 2029 UT, Mexmx and ``La Ranchera`` slogan,
at first dominant then fading; no doubt KZMP University Park TX = The
Metroplex, format replacing ESPN Deportes 3+ months ago. 1480
Vietnamese already dominating Wichita too as DFW skywave well in 3
hours before sunset (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
