Ron Howard upon Asilomar State Beach, California, agrees: ``KOREA NORTH/SOUTH. 6045, Voice of Freedom, on 1119+, on July 6. Totally blocked by super strong white noise jamming from N. Korea. The former enjoyable reception of VOF has come to an end for the time being!`` I also have an unjammed? signal on 5990, presumably Echo of Hope, South to North Korea as Ron also confirms (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH. 13760.2, July 6 at 1346, JBA carrier presumed still VOK knocked off frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2041 monitoring: confirmed new time of 0030 UT Monday July 6 on WRMI 7730, VG S9+10/20, the only frequency on 285-degree azimuth from Okee, which crosses: Houston TX; just south of Nogales, Sonora; right on Honolulu; Port Moresby; but plenty signal here 30 degrees offbeam, second only to 315 on 7570, 5850. Just prior at 0029.5, an Allen Graham in Quito ID and a fragment of Bob Zanotti in Berne, all he gets out is his name before I interrupt him without intending to. Also confirmed UT Monday July 6 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 vs high storm noise level almost exactly off the side of this 44-degree beam; this time at 0129.5 a Rudy Espinal ID, and again a fragment of BZ, why? Also confirmed UT Monday July 6 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, VG at Maine SDR Also confirmed UT Monday July 6 starting at 0301:45 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5130, S9+10/20 including storm crashes. Also confirmed UT Monday July 6 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, VG at TWR Bonaire; good at Pardinho SP Brasil where slight jamming is audible under. Next: 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from John Carver, mid-north IN, for a generous check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com PayPal not necessarily in US funds as they will convert. Ivo Ivanov`` --- So their English transmitter(s) down (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17815, Monday July 6 at 1452, open carrier S9/+10, quickly turned off. Probably WHRI test; available 14-21 daily but normally used only on Sundays --- or so I thought until checking https://familybroadcastingcorporation.com/whr/whr-iframe-page/?search=Angel1 which claims `Angel 1` runs 17.815 every day at 19-22 except for a switch to 17540 at 2105-2130, which I also find hard to believe; exaggerated scheduling beyond axual SW usage? Mostly just Music with IRN News on the hour, hardly worth the watts. It also claims Angel 6 on 7385 not only most of the night, but all day long! Don`t you believe it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1707 UT July 6

** ALGERIA [non]. 13820, Saturday July 4 at 1830, RTA International via FRANCE, again with beepery, but no English, just Arabic, 1836 into Spanish with lite French accent but also has to pronounce properly names in Arabic. Via UTwente SDR. Richard Langley, NB reports there was no English during entire 18-19 hours July 3 or 4:
``It seems they take pieces of the different language segments from the programs on their Internet/FM/satellite broadcasts (in English, for example): https://www.radioalgerie.dz/rai/en/emissions/list Some information (in English) about Radio Algérie Internationale: https://www.radioalgerie.dz/rai/en/emissions/list%EF%BB%BF The "funky" transmitter was used again today for the international broadcast. -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 12200, July 5 at 0607, RHC English, undermodulated S9 vs CODAR, unlike fundamental 6100. I notified the WOR iog of this ASAP but at presstime only Ivo Ivanov replied at 1859: ``Good signal here, 1400 in Afar, 1415 in Somali, 1430 in French, 1445 in Arabic and 1457 again in Afar. Probably tx is Secretbrod [BULGARIA] or per Aoki is Grigoriopol [PRIDNESTROVYE]``. Website provides audio and texts of broadcasts in May, which were then weekly, but none since 22 May: https://lavoixdedjibouti.info/ Christian Ghibaudo reported on June 21 to bdxc-news: ``The latest broadcast is on their Facebook page. It's June 19, there is a weekly broadcast on Friday (Radio Vendredi). They broadcast again on shortwave because the government of Djibouti has cut the Internet in the country, making listening difficult. The association La Voix de Djibouti is based in Paris. The next special will be Labor Day, again a multi-program effort. Although I am serving as cat-herder as Uncle Bill, the larger purpose is to showcase WBCQ's music programs generally, and I hope that the other programs (Marion's Attic, Behavior Night, Lost Discs, Rock Wave and others) also attract new listeners, and perhaps this might even inspire some aspiring radio host to start a new program as well. At a minimum, we hope to serve as a reminder that music on licensed broadcast shortwave (not just pirates) is very much alive. Best, William "Bill" Tilford, Owner/Producer, Tilford Productions, LLC`` 0222 UT July 5. My reply: ``Hi Bill, Enjoyed it. Since I was at the computer instead of the SW radio, I could not resist listening via the WBCQ stream. I am ashamed? Anyhow some of it was in $ tereo and the scratches were clearer, hi. As you know, SW from `BCQ is not the best here, even without storms, and especially without 500 kW. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490v, 6160v, 5130v, UT Sat July 4 after 0000, for AAAWWW, these WBCQs are detectable, very poor signals with storm noise; all I hear at a quick check is Angela overmodulating an opinion on current events. Has been repeating 24 hours later on 7490v at least, but not this week, as UT Sun July 5 at 0000-0100 is when Uncle Bill`s much-publicized 4th of July musical special is due, on 7490+v and 6159.9v. Unfortunately simultaneously with `A Capitol Fourth` on PBS-TV, but repeated a sesquihour later at least on OETA; and CNN`s 4OJ special at 0000-0400 UT, not to mention countless local events, including Enid, where the Enid Symphony Orchestra is barreling ahead with its traditional performance at Meadowlake Park despite the risks; people are encouraged to spread out as there is plenty of space around the lake, but in best of times getting in and out is problematic, e.g. avoiding those burning poison gas, i.e. smokers who think it`s OK as long as it`s outside; and parking is a nightmare. I urged conductor Doug Newell to reconsider; what about the musicians crammed under the canopy? The windy ones at least cannot be masked. How about recording and/or broadcasting it? He says they don`t have the rights to do so, which would be an additional expense. The concert is always free to the public, underwritten this year by Security National Bank. Starts around 0130 UT after a full day schedule of other risky events at the Park, and to accompany fireworx circa 0230 when it`s finally darkening. To avoid the hassles, the past few years we have been attending instead dress rehearsals at 4 pm Saturday back in Symphony Center, but not this year in that enclosed and possibly crowded venue. The fireworx can of course be seen from a considerable distance away, but the music inaudible. Years before I had tried to get them to employ a Part 15 FM transmitter for better sound than over the loudspeakers, and maybe audible just outside the park in cars. Nix. ESO apparently is itching to get going again with no performances since March, the final scheduled concert of the year, an all-Beethoven bash in April for season subscribers only, postponed. BTW, there aren`t enough local musicians to form an orchestra, so ESO has to draw in others from elsewhere in OK. As a 51-K city, we are lucky to have it and hope all of them survive (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, July 3 at 2044, NO signal from WRMI-9 when RFPI is scheduled on Fridays; normally a JBA carrier at least; while 15825 WWCR & 15610 WEWN do now achieve that much (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7385, July 4 at 0236, this WHRI is now squealing, like 7315 VOV relay previously; now 7315 is also on in English not // gospel huxters, and also squealing. 9825, July 4 at 0555, WHRI squealing here too with g.h., maybe one of same transmitters as earlier on 7 MHz. Haven`t they noticed in Cypress Creek, Furman, Noblesville or South Bend?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5890, July 4 at 0239, WWCR-4 is back on, non-TOM during this hour, following several days off for repairs. Day frequency 9980 also resumed at 1654 check, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also SOUTH CAROLINA [non] UNIDENTIFIED. 12670.0-USB, July 4 at 1359, 2-way in Spanish, one of them screaming, encountered as I bandscan for CNR1 jammers. Per Klingenfuss 2002y, this was not a ship SSB frequency, but WNU New Orleans was in CW/DIG on 12670.4 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1815 UT July 4

** ALGERIA [non]. 13820, July 2 at 1828, RTA via FRANCE starts ENGLISH segment, YL historical artistic talk about a painter whose name I never catch, continuous music background. 1836 into another feature, `Destination: Algeria` tourist talk by OM about the sights in the northeast, then northwest; 1841 into Spanish, weekly Latin American correspondent in Bs. As. about the COVID-19 situation especially in Brasil. Tnx to Pedro Sedano, Spain, who tipped us on the WOR iogroup that this hour only carries the International domestic network, not just Arabic/Qur`an and some French but also English circa 1830 and Spanish like this. Times could be 1 minute off as I recorded during significantly home-grown salad lunch and did not listen until later.
AFAWK, this is the only time for English on SW, other than some scattered IDs. Monitored here VG via UTwente SDR; didn`t try direct but probably would hear more Cuban jamming against no Martí than RTA. This hour on one frequency only. Also reported by Alan Roe, UK, and via UTw, Richard Langley, NB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2041) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, July 2 at 1339: 14990 VP; 13160 two signals; 1130 Chinese S5-S7; 12500 & 11440 JBA carriers. Mentions ``Cuba libre``, ending newscast with rooster crow. Caught my attention in bandscan since this far off-frequency, unusual for Issoudun if FRANCE still be the site with RMI the go-between broker rather than just putting it on much closer Okeechobee. Europe is hot tonight, 9420 Greece also inbooming with its musical alternative (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH. 13760.201, July 2 at 1337, VOK exactly same remeasured off-frequency for second day in a row, S3-S5, usual syrupy choral music from paradise (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2041) ** OKLAHOMA. LIB ... 05. No /B suffix, just space, BCN. Partial msg copied after multiple repeats. WJ5O roster shows: ``28.2635 W4JPL C LIBERTY NORTH CAROLINA # 4W, 5/8 VERTICAL`` And QRZ.com: ``W4JPL USA flag USA, JOHN P LLOYD, LIBERTY, NC 27298 USA`` with no further info. Liberty is SE of Greensboro on the way to Siler City, or forming an equilateral triangle with Greensboro and Burlington. I logged it as on the minus side of 28263 but listed on plus side; one of us is mistaken. Very briefly another beacon audiblized slightly higher in frequency. No Es MUF into FM today; openings should taper off as we get into July but there could still be some goodies if we can catch them (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9980 during the day July 2, and 5890 at night, checked 0420 UT July 3, WWCR-4 still off the air depriving us of extra BS. John Jurasek found an explanation on the website: ``WWCR is working on a major transmitter repair. Additionally, WWCR streams may not be playing scheduled content. . . All parts needed to complete this project should be received by July 3. WWCR staff and management appreciate your patience during this time.`` Program skeds have now been updated as of July 1, and WWCR-4 still shows 24/7 on 9980/7520/5890, so enjoy the fresh air while we can! WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST UPDATE
Hi Glenn, My latest Hitlist update. http://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) Germany - Channel 292: Added direct link for programming on frequency of 3955 kHz 2) Madagascar - Madagascar World Voice: Added link for African Pathways as part of MWV entry 3) South Sudan - Eye R: Updated link to Live stream 4) Spain - REE: Updated link to frequency page for A-20 schedule 5) UK - BBC WS: removed links to "Global Beats"; added links to "This is Africa" and "Music Life" Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be late July. Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe ** CUBA. 13820, July 1 at 1402, noise jammer grinding away vs nothing, since that`s a B-season-only Radio Martí frequency, instead on 13605 now, also heavily jammed. Something`s always incompetent and excessive at the DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH. 13760.201, July 1 at 1403, VOK way off-frequency, JBA talk in unID language. Much weaker 13650 is on 13649.964. The other ones closer to nominal but unmeasured: 11735, 11710-strongest, 9435 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1270, June 30 daytime I can`t get enough signal from KRXO Claremore/Tulsa; UT July 1 at 0158 now some skywave helps as I hear Spanish, ``tu música`` and indeed music right across 0200 hourtop; 0202 ID mentions ``107.9 FM y 1270 AM``; 0510 UT recheck I again hear ``107.9``. Plenty of QRM but this station is generally atop on my E-W longwire. More music across 0600, until 0603 full ID, the first few words pronounced sorta English, ``KRXO, Claremore-Tulsa, 1270 AM y 107.9 FM ---- nueva frecuencia``. I was checking it out after seeing this in Bill Hale`s FM News column in July WTFDA VHF-UHF Digest: ``OK Oklahoma City 107.9 KRXO-FM Spanish CHR: ‘Ritmo 107.9’`` That can`t be right, as the real full-power KRXO-FM is still on 107.7 in OKC, with stupid sports talk, in English; certainly no room for another, one channel up! Same owner Tyler Media does have a 107.9 translator in Tulsa of KRXO (AM) 1270; and a CP to move it to nearby Broken Arrow, per FCC FM Query. However, WTFDA FM Database shows K300CY, the 107.9 in Broken Arrow is Spanish CHR, Ritmo 107.9, relaying KRXO 1270. 1270 must be a recent flip, not sure when; believe I still had 1270 in English sports talk early in June. Radio-locator.com still has it sports, ``The Franchise``. Site is between Owasso and Claremore, NE of Tulsa, but plenty coverage of entire metro. 5 kW day pattern does have a notch toward Enid; 1 kW night pattern less of a notch. Why move the FM to Broken Arrow, SE of Tulsa? Census data indicates most Hispanic neighborhoods are in central Tulsa. Maybe it`s going up on a high-tower antenna farm. Radio.locator.com coverage map for ``K300CY-FM`` [sic] shows from east side of Tulsa near ``New Tulsa``, local contour not reaching all of Tulsa but the distant one does (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2040 monitoring: confirmed the Wednesday July 1 at 2100+ on WBCQ 7490v, good at a Rochester NY SDR checked at 2121, while poor at Alexandria VA, and JBA here so I could not be positive it were I speaking. Next: 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sends a generous quarterly contribution marking Solstices & Equinoxes, by check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com PayPal not necessarily in US funds as they will convert. Next WOR 2041 should be ready by early UT Friday July 3 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9395, July 1 at 1417, this WRMI-6 is off, no signal, while 9455 WRMI-8 with TOMBS on same parameters is S9+10. Recheck at 1836, 9395 is back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7315, WHRI, not multi-squealy at 0100 June 30, OK with VOV relay, unlike 24 hours earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9980, July 1 at 1830, WWCR-4 is still AWOL; crashed? Outdated June 1 program schedules still display (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11600-11300, July 1 at 1407-1416, looking for CNR1 jammers, hear a big wideband buzz slowly drifting downward, ionosonde? Seemed steady but really slowing down, as I time approximate intervals between crossings: 11450-11400: 55 seconds 11400-11350: 80 seconds 11350-11300: 205 seconds And it`s just about stalled around 11300, 55 seconds later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2234 UT July 1
