** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, July 26 at 1545, LRA36 has supposedly stayed on all night until 1500 but it`s still on, as activity publicity never seems accurately fulfilled; sufficient via Brasil SDR, almost nothing but music; `Ave Maria` nice harmony hymn playing at tune-in, then lots more secular? songs. 1606 mentions Santiago del Estero; 1633 song about Provincia de Santa Fe; 1802 brief talk about the music; 1816 at last canned LRA36 ID and plug `Corazón Antártico` program. Finally cut off about 1833*. I had been listening with half an ear all this time, mainly to WYSU`s pipe organ music. Let`s face it, hardly any of the program content on LRA36 is about *ANTARCTICA*, rather Argentina and lots of music which is hardly Antarctican either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, July 26 at 1355-1400: NONE found WOOB in the 13s, 12s, 11s, or 10s, but in the 9s: 9215, 9230 VP in Chinese; I suppose due to depressed propagation rather than operation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, July 26 at 0558, RHC English is S9+10/20 but suptorted, and no signal on 2 x = 12200. 6000 is only S9 and also suptorted; 6145 S9 not distorted but undermodulated. 5040 off already. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Feliz 26; Patria o Suerte, ¡Pensaremos! I am still awaiting photographic evidence that anyone has scrawled this, my contrarian motto on a surface anywhere inside Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760 >> // 15140, Sunday July 26 at 1501, weekly RHC Spanish opening; YL mispronounces Ameriko as Amériko; despite seeming fluency cannot escape her native Spanish accentuation for Espo`s invariable penultimate accent, so I don`t even stay tuned to hear her give the wrong schedule. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15825 & 13845, WWCRs are boosted by sporadic E, so I check 10m hambeacons, exact frequencies accepted, not measured, lookups in the WJ5O roster and QRZ.com, July 26: 28225.5-CW, July 26 at 1418, VVV DE W2DLL/B ... ending with K as if anyone should answer. Also listed on 28150 but this is: ``28.2255 W2DLL C BUFFALO, NEW YORK # 20W, DIPOLE QTH & Power change 25 Sept 11/28 Feb 16`` ``W2DLL USA flag USA, Dana L Laurie, Buffalo, NY 14210 USA`` 28298-CW, July 26 at 1422, K5TLL/B, slow WPM and strong ``28.298 K5TLL C HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI # 25W, VERTICAL New Freq 14 Dec 08`` ``K5TLL USA flag, TERENCE L LOWERY, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402 Beacon station is a Uniden HR-2510, 25 watts ID-O-Matic keyer by http://www.HamGadgets.com `` 28276-CW, July 26 at 1423, VVV DE K - M/B, full call not copiable, but this is the only one that fits frequency, letters, area: ``28.276 K4FUM * LOGANVILLE, GEORGIA # 10W, VERTICAL (*synchronized) on the min)`` ``K4FUM USA flag, JERE T SANDIDGE, LOGANVILLE, GA 30052`` 28264.3-CW, July 26 at 1446, VVV KD4AOZ/B, fast WPM and QRM from a slightly different pitch/frequency. Copied as AOG but one of us must have missed a dit: ``28.2643 KD4AOZ C WATKINSVILLE, GEORGIA # 10W, OMNI new 19 Jan 14`` ``KD4AOZ USA flag, JEFFREY E CROWELL, WATKINSVILLE, GA 30677`` 28290-CW, July 26 at 1459, AL DE WJ5O/B: ``28.2893 WJ5O C TROY ALABAMA # 2W VERTICAL New Frequency 25 Jan 14`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Sunday July 26 at 1351, WLCR via WBCQ-6 is in Spanish as scheduled before switch to English, S9+10/20. Maybe not off for maintenance today? 1917 JBA carrier vs local noise blob (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9605, July 26 at 1353, gospel huxter in English, S9+10/20. Aside from KBS relays at 01-02, WHRI on 9605 only this one hour per week, per EiBi, to Central America (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1957 UT July 26

Sunday, July 26 2020
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB. After the July 25 LRA36 special supposedly ended, we got word via Horacio Nigro G. that it was being extended all-night until 13 UT July 26! My Brazilian remote is still tuned there as I am about to check it for WOR on WRMI 5800, but July 26 at 0259 nothing from RNASG except a possible trace, as you would expect on 19m in the middle of a winter night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. FM DX: see USA [and non] ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, July 26 at 0044, S5-S7 pirate music in noise level. Many logs here say it`s Mix Radio International: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,69849.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. FM logs: see U S A, mixed in ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2044 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday July 26 at 0300 on WRMI 5800, fair at Brasilia SDR. Also confirmed at 0327 midpoint until ending at 0342 UT Sun July 26 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, via Edinburgh IN KiwiSDR, good but with some storm noise. Next: 0700 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?] 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Richard Langley, Fredericton NB, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com -- not necessarily in US funds as they will convert One may also contribute via MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun July 26 at 0045, WTWW-2 (not 3 as I typoed last time) with Theatre Organ [not] in the Ozarx is underway so I switch to $ tereo webcast where it runs until 0100 sharp, so must be on-time for a change at 0030. BTW did you know that WTWW has FOUR transmitters? Not really but the Listen Live dropdown shows TXs 1, 2, 3, and 4, each with different music except PPPP on #1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Shortly after I`ve finished hearing ANTARCTICA on HF, tho it`s still musicking, I recheck the DX Map and see the sporadic E MUF has attained some 100+ MHz spots to the SE of here, so now it`s worth an FM DX session; in the car in the hot but at least not directly insolated garage; with secondary DX-398 out the window but seldom helpful. None of the following are strong or steady enough to energize RDS. Vertical caradio antenna only so no DFing or manipulation. Distances are approx., city-to-Enid. July 25, by UT time order: 1954, 93.5, unID Spanish phone-quality talk briefly over KS, fades 1955, 91.9, politico-religious talk in English holding own against 91.7 KOSU at peaks, but fading as if Es, not Kansas. Back up, virus conspiracy nonsense, 1959 AFA promo, ad for `Mid-East Report`. AFA means the far-Christian American Family Association, which runs the AFR network out of Tupelo MS. One must first suspect the closest, KBDD Winfield KS, but which is normally inaudible here. Wikipedia shows 14 AFR stations on 91.9 but three of them including KBDD are *former*. Besides a few translators including one in Elk City OK, there are also 91.9s in GA, LA(2), MS, NC, TN, TX, WV. Most likely WASW, Waycross GA, 18 kW, judging from a following GA log. And this one does not reappear during following hour. I went to Wiki since WTFDA Database had no hits on AFA; but yes, if you put full name American Family Radio in Slogan field you get more or less the same 91.9s, 12 of them. Waycross 1543 km = 959 stmi 2001, 95.3 over KOKC translator, surprised to hear something in French as not expecting Canada; even more surprised that it`s a PSA about *Yucatán*, and then into Spanish. Lots of Québec visitors there? The only Yucatecan on 95.3 is: ``XHMH-FM relaying AM 970 95.3 MÉRIDA YUC MEX 25.0 kW H&V 107.0m HAAT 20-57-58 89-37-27 Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN CANDELA FM`` 1893 km = 1176 st mi This rings some bells; my previous log in 2013y, June 24: ```0113 on 95.3, ``Candela, La Más Grande``, elexions PSA in Spanish and also in Maya! Then ode to Yucatán sung in Spanish, axually a PSA from El Gobierno del Estado. This is XHMH, 10 kW in Mérida, // 970, says Cantú, and you may recall was briefly relayed several years ago on SW 6105 before that transmitter crashed, for good?``` 2002, 97.5, ``ESPN Radio``, CCI, fades. WTFDA shows three translators in CO, NC and PA, and more likely but tentatively: ``KFNC 97.5 MONT BELVIEU TX 3.0 kW H&V 172.0 m HAAT 29-46-07 95-01-05 HD IE88 ESPN - SPORTS ESPN HOUSTON 97.5`` and its booster: ``KFNC-FM1 KFNC 97.5 97.5 HOUSTON TX 2.0 kW H&V 0.0 m HAAT!29-49-06 95-01-04 SPORTS ESPN HOUSTON 97.5`` 779 km = 484 stmi to Belvieu 2004, 99.3, ads for Shaw`s in Tampa(?), and definitely for Town Fair Tires, i.e. Toyo brand, then sports talk, or is it an axual baseball game, before fadeout? But there are no 99.3s in Tampa proper; Shaw`s Grocery and Town Fair Tires both operate *only* in New England. No 99.3s in CT and the other 5 states have at least one but none of much power. N.E. is not only far out of the PTA now, but beyond normal skip range, e.g. Boston at 1484 miles. No sports formats listed anyway, altho Fort Myers Beach FL has WWCN, 45 kW with ESPN. Could they have been carrying a game vs a N.E. team with local ads from there? I would certainly rather log Block Island... 1868 km = 1161 stmi from FMB 2005, 99.3, very brief Spanish CCI to above before both be gone 2010, 93.3, Jake FM in OKC getting CCI, ads on one, music on other 2012, 96.7, nothing nearby, but CCI, one of which is C&W 2015, 93.1, Spanish music. No SS listed in FL, GA or Yucatan 2016, 95.1, dead air vs CCI; eventually hear some gospel huxter which would be OK, so that leaves Wichita KICT; or a local neighborhood feeder? Continues entire hour and even later. See next below for DX 2023, 95.1, plug for Panama City Beach, ``Mix 95.1``. Of the six FL on 95.1, the one just north of PCB is this: ``WBPC 95.1 EBRO FL 21.0 kW H&V 91.0 m HAAT 30-26-39 85-52-38 58D4 THE BEACH - CLASSIC HITS BEACH 95.1, THE GULF COAST'S GREATEST HITS`` 1294 km = 804 stmi 2024, 93.7. unusual CCI to KSPI Stillwater OK, must be DX: ``Y-93.7`` --- but I`m faked out by a fringe groundwaver, the only such non-ID: ``KYEZ 93.7 SALINA KS 100.0 kW H&V 155.0 m HAAT 38-57-14 97-36-29 4FE1 Y93.7 - COUNTRY Y93.7`` 273 km = 170 stmi 2028, 101.5, Spanish ID as ``Radio Salvación, 93.9``. For the record, I know this is merely Okie, the real station repeating an -LP: ``KOCD relaying KWDW-LP 101.5 OKEENE OK 14.0 kWH only 88.0 m HAAT 36-07-11 98-15-45 Spanish 352F kocd SPANISH RELIGIOUS RADIO SALVACIÓN LIBERTAD EN CRISTO MINISTRIES,`` 75 km = 48 stmi 2031, 94.9, unID rock in Spanish, tight squeeze vs 94.7/95.1 Okies 2032, 92.9, Valdosta GA ad, ergo: ``WAAC 92.9 VALDOSTA GA 100.0 kW H&V 153.0 m HAAT 30-48-13 83-21-20 9430 WAACFM 92.9 Country COUNTRY 92.9 ALL AMERICAN COUNTRY`` 1485 km = 922 stmi 2042, 93.5, Spanish 3:43 TC, 21 grados en ``93.5, Estéreo Sentillo``? I am not at all sure of that word, Sentido would make some sense. I hunt thru the 300+ WTFDA entries on 93.5, and find no slogan similar beyond Cuba, which would be a VG catch almost 1500 miles: ``CMHC-FM 93.5 SANTA CLARA VC CUB 1.0 kWH only 35.0 m HAAT 22-24-26 79-57-50 Spanish VARIETY ESTÉREO CENTRO`` if so, 2323 km = 1444 stmi A Google search is also unproductive, except that smarty suggests it could be Saltillo, which had not yet occurred to me, and by golly, there is such a station in Coahuila with that slogan: https://www.multimedios.com/radio/programas/stereo-saltillo-935-fm altho it does not appear in WTFDA entry; another area not expecting skip from, and rock music fits: ``XHQC-FM 93.5 SALTILLO COAH MEX 15.0 kW H&V -36.0 m HAAT! 25-24-47 101-00-19 Spanish 1314 XHQC-FM SPANISH TEEN HITS - JUVENIL HITS FM`` 1256 km = 780 stmi 2044, 94.9 squeezed, ``M-C-K 94.9`` jingle after ad, and fade out. This must be it, another fringe-area fakeout: ``KNCK 94.9 CONCORDIA KS 100.0 kW H&V 161.0 m HAAT 39-26-19 97-42-16 HOT AC NCK 94.9`` 338 km = 210 stmi 2045, 97.3, QSI ad, Community Structures, which I take to be a business name, but search indicates these could be scientific terms; QSI has too many meanings: https://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/QSI including Quality Solutions Inc., Wichita KS But then at 2046 a non ID as ``Q-97``, which fits for another non-Es: ``KKJQ 97.3 GARDEN CITY KS 100.0 kW H&V 244.0 m HAAT 37-46-48 100-27-36 2B62 KKJQ THE DAWG - COUNTRY Q 97 FM`` (again at 0030 below) 317 km = 197 stmi 2046, 97.3, vs above station, Spanish DJ fades in, ``Número Uno``, rock, and out again. No hits as a slogan, maybe just generic claim. 2051, 96.5, Spanish ``105 FM`` JBA. Only hit of a Spanish on 96.5 relaying something 105+ is: ``K243BI KBIC 105.7 96.5 WESLACO TX 0.25 kw H&V 50.0 m HAAT 26-09-52 98-00-59 Spanish SPANISH RELIGIOUS RADIO VIDA`` If so, 1138 km = 707 stmi 2051, 95.1, soft Spanish conversation overcomes open carrier, unID 2055, 97.5, Eagle Radio, ad for Candlewood Frame Shop, weather from KSNG Storm Track. Search on the Shop leads right to Manhattan KS. KSNG would be the far Garden City TV satellite of KSNW Wichita, so more likely KSNT in closer Topeka. It must be this near Manhattan: ``KJCK 97.5 JUNCTION CITY KS 100.0 kW H&V 192.0 m HAAT 39-00-53 96-52-12 2802 Top 40 CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO POWER HITS 97.5`` but the only Eagle slogan on 97.5 WTFDA hits is in Bristol VT. However searching shows there is an Eagle connexion unknown to WTFDA: https://eagleradio.net/services/radio/kjck 307 km = 191 stmi So, I am inadvertently exploring fringe Kansas radio along with the real sporadic E DX, which seems diminishing, and I`m ready to cool off. DX Map shows some more 100+ MHz MUF, so back to the car UT July 26: 0010, 93.3, Jake in OKC getting some CCI but never breaks thru 0012, 95.1, the dead air carrier is still on 0014, 98.3, dead air now, but back later from semi-local KQZQ Kiowa KS just over the border - 88 km = 55 stmi 0015, 101.5, dead air here too from KOCD Okeene as heard earlier 0016, 102.3, ``Classic Communications, thanks for listening`` AF Reserve PSA, fadeout, back wth C.C. weather, low 72, Q-102. The C-C- name is missing from WTFDA but obviously this: ``KWDQ 102.3 WOODWARD OK 100.0 kW H&C 264.5 m HAAT 36-22-31 99-28-31 4A76 Title & Artist KWDQ PURE ROCK Q102.3 WOODWARD PURE ROCK Q102`` 136 km = 85 stmi 0023, 96.5, Mix 96.5 Tulsa with CCI in Spanish; 0025 partial ID for ``---- y 96.5 FM`` maybe after an AM frequency 0030, 97.3, promo app to get KKJQ Q-97, again, see above at 2045 (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0441 UT July 26

Saturday, July 25 2020
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, Sat July 25 at 1636 tune-in via Brasil SDR, another LRA36 special is already early on the air again, asserting ``este es el ritmo de mi tierra``, but I seriously doubt it be genuine traditional Antarctican music. Manuel Méndez, Spain was hearing it already at 1624. Music with occasional IDs, such as 1650 plugging the regular Wednesday broadcast.
1700 officially starting the special, ID in Spanish, says English will be included. 1703 mentions using rhombic antenna but nothing about its heading, surely not due south. 1708 music; 1710 chat with Adrián Korol, head of RAE in Bs. As. BUT 1715 dumps off the air. I keep listening hopefully to the noise. 1738 back on discussing pandemia problems; 1743 ID as special RAE produxion for LRA36, and playing old ``cortina`` = theme for DX program. 1749 I think they say this is running only 1 kW, and e-mail address. 1750 ``llegando al final`` of the RAE/RNASG special between Korol and Fernando Farías, host of both the Spanish and English RAE Argentina To The World programs, and English to follow; music. 1756 plug again `Corazón Antártico` Wednesday show; more music past 1804 and no English yet. 1806 another C.A. plug, more songs. 1822, English segment finally starts, by Fernando Farías intro as on 15476-USB, excited to be doing this 30-minute special on RAE sister station LRA36; 1826 e-mail address; plus Arnaldo Slaen`s classic DX segment, formerly done by Gabriel Iván Barrera; song about Juana Jujuy who in the war for independence was promoted to general, which serves as background music to the DX segment, 1834 outro as sung by the late Mercedes Sosa. 1835 that RAE broadcasts in 8 languages, on website, YouTube (but no mention now of WRMI); QSLRAE@gmailcom but not for this. Rating S4-S5 on the KiwiSDR but quite readable. All the language announcers are not in the studio, an historic building locked down, but working from home. Email for this: tranalra36@radionacional.com.ar --- glad he spelt trana to be sure. Since Antarctica is free of coronavirus, School #38 for Esperanza kids is still open, the only Argentine one. 1845 plays Waldo de los Rios song for DXers; it was RAE ATTW opening theme for many years. 1849 program is available on Radio Nacional website. 8-language service is only weekly due to CV and aired M-F. 1850 coming to the end of this special. Now mentions RAE being on Miami Radio International, 5800 (but will this Antarctic show air there too?). 1852, thanks to everybody at Esperanza Base; 1854, ``all the best, ciao``. And more and more songs past 1942, few announcements but something unreadable at 1908 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey July 25 from 1322; many JBA but a few sufficiently audible: none higher than: 13530; 13020; 12870 S5-S8 choppy; 12820; 12795 best S7-S9 also choppy; 12550 S3-S5; 12500 JBAC but with 2-way SSB QRM offset; 12190; 11460; 11440; 11150; 11120; 11100; 11070; 10960; 10920; 10870; none in the lower 9s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA SOUTH. 9100, this week`s jumparound frequency, July 25 at 1342, Echo of Hope, S5-S7 in OM Amerenglish news about conflict along the Turko-Syria border involving the PKK; alternating with YL in Korean; presumably olds as language lesson (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, July 24 at 2157, VOT already in programming, not just IS & ID prélude, English about Turkey, maybe opening schedule. VP signal seems slightly offset+plus; as always I have to cope with a local birdie, but at least no NSS RTTY QRM today. By 2200 is off? Or break or weakening. No, by 2207 I`m on UTwente instead with a good signal, AM synch readout as 9830.021v, and annoying squeal in the modulation which seems always to infect it now. This early it`s not the news but some historical feature, 2208 outro as `This Day in History`, and on to next unID feature. So it seems they are running several minutes fast/early; clock-on-the-wall needs resetting? 2230 and 2251 chex, still squealing with music; I thought they might be signing off early too, but now back in synch, 2255 YL sign off falsely claiming this has been the 1230 broadcast on 15450, 2256 IS and one German ID, but cut off at 2257:20* before spurious German hour can commence today. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler, awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28289.3-CW, July 25 at 1504, only beacon making it, barely, is WJ5O/B, i.e. proprietor of the beacon reference himself: ``28.2893 WJ5O C TROY ALABAMA # 2W VERTICAL New Frequency 25 Jan 14`` DXMaps.com, run by a ham in Spain, shows some North American sporadic E MUFs occasionally spiking above 88 MHz, typically not worth attempting FMDXing here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2044 monitoring: confirmed first WRMI broadcast, Friday July 24 at 2200 on WRMI, 9955, poor S6-S8 here but no jamming; only fair at TWR Bonaire SDR. Also confirmed UT Sat July 25 at 0130 on WRMIs trimulcast: after 0129 double ID on 7780, VP and equally VP on 5010, but VG S9+20/30 on 5850 aimed thisaway; Remotes checked circa 0135: 5010 VG at Bonaire; 7780 unusually VP at UTwente but VG at Maine. Also confirmed Sat July 25 at 1305 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA here to the NW like 7780 at night, but presumably much better to the NE. Has anyone found any of our 2044 podcasts cutting off after 20 minutes? We`ve had a complaint that this one does, also confirmed by my non-Canadian check: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/glenn-hausers-world-of-radio/id1123369861 Our podcast manager, Keith Weston has just replied: ``Glenn, Thanks for being in touch. I’ve fixed the file so that it should play back appropriate. It may take iTunes/Apple a day or so to become aware of the change. And, yes, it’s listed at Apple Podcast, and it`s replicated at dozens if not thousands of services that use Apple or Google as templates for their own feeds. It’s in the wild, as they say. Angela is tropically dressed tonight, but they are back in Maine where air conditioning is not really necessary, since the AC in the studio broke years ago; they do have a fan? to cool the equipment. Angela does not like AC anyway as unhealthy. Allan soon answers my question about why WBCQ-6 is missing from 9330 so much: has been off 6-7 hours in the daytime while riggers and crew have been working to replace supports for transmission lines; in winter winds they had been too loose allowing the lines to short out. Checking Rochester remote, 6160 & 5130 also on now but not synchronized. 0058 recheck, in benedixion, and 7490 on to Hal Turner precisely joined at 0100. It seemed other frequencies were not on earlier during 23 UT hour, but checked direct at 0101, 6160- and 7490+ about equally good levels with HT while 5130 is in sign-off classical music I am trying to remember what it be. However, at 0104, 5130 joins HT, also // 9455 WRMI. But 0134 recheck, 5130 is off. 9330, July 25 at 1341 is off again, but had been on at night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17775-, Sat July 25 after 1500, JBA carrier? from KVOH here; 1541 checking TWR remotes in Bonaire and noisy DR, definitely JBA carriers, so seems that `Wavescan` at 1500 was going nowhere, even if were modulating unlike yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090, July 26 at 0600 UT, KAAY Little Rock ID as a Cumulus station but again no dead air, just filling with a PSA string; nulling it hears somethings but can`t tell if XEAU, and nothing in Chinese, but heads up on the WOR iog: ``Glenn, for your monitoring of activity on 1090: If you hear Chinese programming, it would be coming from KULF in Bellville, Texas, targeting the Houston market. Although a daytimer, it has been recently noted operating at night, though I haven't checked the past few days. Directional pattern towards the Gulf, but some RF may escape elsewhere. The Chinese programming has been said to originate with some CRI related entity, but I have been unable to verify this. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Correct date for the JBA TP MW carrier search at 1122-1130 was July 24, not 23 (gh) UNIDENTIFIED. 12543-USB, July 25 at 1328, 2-way in Spanish, OM mentions puta and much weaker answeress sounds feminine (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1942 UT July 25

Friday, July 24 2020
** CANADA. 332-MCW kHz, July 24 at 0609, NDB dash and QT, 1000 watts from Thunder Bay, Ont., overcoming nearby 400-watt IC in WIChita KS
335-MCW kHz, July 24 at 0610, ND beacon dash and YLD barely copiable vs HSNL, i.e. 1000 watts from Chapleau, Ont., which is between Timmins and Sault Ste Marie (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, July 24 at 1328-1339, mostly presumed JBA carriers: 13530, 13130, 13020 best S6-S9; 14920, 14900, 14850; 11460, 11440, 11150, 11120, 11100, 11070, 10920, 10845?; 9180, 9215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO [non]. 1090, July 24 at 0601 UT, KAAY Little Rock no longer dead air but filling the news hole with a string of PSAs for suicide, MS, veterans, etc., etc. So our fun is over for now, but worth periodic rechecking, also at other hourtops. Even nulled not getting much of anything from XEAU tonight. IRCA Mexican Log editor Tim Hall replies to my previous report: ``Reports coming out of Monterrey in recent months (on some Mexican radio groups I belong to on Facebook) have said that XEAU has been jumping back and forth between "FM Tu" //XHFMTU-103.7 and "Milenio Radio"/"Milenio Noticias." There is speculation that they are just about ready to turn off the AM. In my annual Border Inn sessions (last October, a couple months after the deadline for the Mex Log) they were indeed using Milenio Radio slogan. 73 Tim`` Could it be gone for good? I thought AMs were more likely to survive in major cities where FM bands are full (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.9, July 24 at 0550, VON is already on S9+10/20, prélude of drumming and singing, nice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 379-MCW kHz, July 24 at 0612 UT, ND beacon RUE, 25 watts from Russellville AR; not many in the adjacent-state region arriving tonight except this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also CANADA ** U S A [and non]. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17775-, July 24 at 1410, KVOH is on and propagating at S9+10 but dead air except for some hum; or is there a trace of JBM? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 670, July 24 at 0619 UT check, NO IBOC noise from WSCR Chicago infesting 657 & 683 kHz, and may this ever be so (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1680+, July 24 at 0558 UT, fast SAH as before between KRJO Monroe LA to the SE and presumed WPRR Ada MI to the NE, no longer open carrier but playing different musix, new format ``The Ride`` as reported by Jack Amelar quoted in last report. Surely a call change will be forthcoming as no longer Public Reality Radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, July 23 at 1122-1130: I haven`t done this since March 13 once DST was in effect, as I dearly want to sleep past sunrise, staying awake usually until 0630 or so UT. But I happen to awaken today at 1120 so I risk making a check. There might well have been many more instances even in deep spring/summer had I searched. Sometimes I use the DX-398 with internal ferrite, which allows DFing whether signals be from Asia to the NW or Pacific WSW, but this time it`s the R75 for greater gain but E-W longwire, so no DFing. Usually both preamps are off to minimize overloading, but this time I need at least #1 to get enough signals to detect, by 9-kHz step tuning USB at 1 kHz below the channels to hear tell-tale 1 kHz hets. LSR today is 1132 UT, and if any on the low end, have already outfaded. The rest are just this side of imagination-level, and are typical from Pacific rather than Asia, altho some could be either: 738, 774, 828, 837, 855, 882, 936(2 beating), 1017, 1098, 1152, 1161, 1314, 1566? 936 pair are intriguing: no higher powers than two 10 kW eastern Aussies, and a 1 kW NZer. East Asia has 200 kW from China, 50 from Thailand. I don`t get back to sleep by 1200, but keep trying and maybe get a few winx past 1300. It shall be another 5 weeks before our SR laten to 1200 when some NHK timepips might audiblize like in March, but that will still be 7 am CDT while I want to keep sleeping (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1635 UT July 24

Friday, July 24 2020
** CANADA. 248-MCW kHz, July 23 at 0633 UT, ND beacon dash and WG, which is 1000 watts from Winnipeg. Good to hear a Canadian again on LW; some storm noise but lower than usual as nothing lightning much in the Great Center of America, just scattered spots further to the west and east. Also logged several from USA; Q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, July 23 at 1354-1400, some audibly Chinese, some JBA carriers: 13530, 13160, 13150, 12880, 12500, 12190, 11170, 11150, 11120, 11100, 10960, 10920, 10820 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6082-6118, July 23 at 0619, range of splatter out of S9+40 suptorted 6100 RHC English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9580, July 24 at 0146, CRI English relay is S9+20 but suptorted. Wiggle that patchcord. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO [and non]. 1090, July 23 at 0600 UT, once again KAAY Little Rock AR drops to dead air, so I amplify the opportunity and also null it for what else may right-angly audiblize: Spanish, timecheck for 1 AM, brief announcement mentions milenio.com but I don`t hear a specific ID. The IRCA Mexican Log has lots of details about each station but does not mention milenio in connexion with this or any 1090 station. In fact ``milenio`` does not appear once in the huge file, so such info is beyond its scope. Wikipedia however soon confirms this: ``XEAU-AM is a radio station on 1090 AM in Monterrey, Nuevo León. It is owned by Multimedios Radio and carries Milenio Radio along with sister station XHFMTU-FM 103.7 HD3.`` ToH is not for news on either station; XEAU plays music, first a familiar instrumental non-Mexican song, and then 0603 one in English before KAAY remodulate at 0605 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2044) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, July 24 at 0126, rock music S5-S7 vs HSNL; 0129 ``You are listening to Black Star Radio`` by synth? bass voice. 0153 interrupted by buzz for a few sex, probably my streetlight igniting circa sunset, but not in a position to view it. Keeps going with dense rock and occasional unreadable announcements, nor are the song lyrix, past 0219+ but off at next check 0237. Several logs here agree it was Blackstar Radio, https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,69772.0.html between 0042 and 0138 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. 13795.049, July 23 at 1438, VP talk, on such an offset must be USAGM here: yes, RFA Cantonese via TINIAN, this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW, July 23 at 0632 & 1349 UT, NO signal from local Woodring Airport, Enid NDB, EI. Easy go, easy come? 515-MCW, July 23 at 0640 UT, however, PN in Ponca City is back after missing a few days (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A. ND beacons audible now that storm noise level has diminished, July 23 at 0633-0640 UT: 251-MCW, AM, 100 watts from Amarillo TX 326-MCW, MA, 400 watts from Midland TX 332-MCW, IC, 400 watts from Wichita KS --- QRM from a weaker, CZX? Nothing similar listed fits at dxinfocentre.com --- but there it is at classaxe.com which digs deeper: CZX Crosbyton TX, power unknown. Where`s that? Just east of Lubbock and south of Floydada 341-MCW, OIN, 25 watts from Oberlin KS, in absence of Enid`s EI; but even when EI is on, OIN can be audible too 353-MCW, LI, 400 watts from Little Rock AR; vs 350 RG in OKC, when tuned first to 351-USB. Another check 1349-1353 after sunrise but maybe some skywave remain: 293-MCW, FBY, 25 watts from Fairbury NE 404-MCW, HU, 25 watts from Hutchinson KS; tuned to 402-USB See also CANADA; OKLAHOMA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2043 monitoring --- this from Harold Frodge: ``7490.02 WBCQ Monticello ME; 2112-2131+, 7/22; Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio #2043; item from me at 2123:50 but couldn’t copy; mentioned 1680 WPRR Ada MI off the air; WOR to 2129:25 WBCQ ID into Goddess Irina promo. SIO=453+ at tune-in with muted audio till about 2118 when got downright distorted; 2126:13 suddenly much better but still with muted audio (patch cord got wiggled?) Harold Frodge, Midland MI, USA, Drake R8B + 185' RW, ---- All logged by my ears, on my receiver, in real time. ----`` Also confirmed UT Thu July 23 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, VG at UTwente. Maybe a touch too much modulation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, July 24 at 0142, WRNO is still AWOL; does anyone care? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1680, another late night I was not hearing the open carrier from presumed WPRR, but meanwhile this reply about it from Jack Amelar, July 24: ``WPRR 1680 Ada, MI --- Glenn, I am copying you what I am sending to the MARE (Michigan Area Radio Enthusiasts) tip sheet about WPRR 1680 Ada/Grand Rapids MI. I hope you find it at least somewhat informative, and as always, you may reprint any or all if you wish. 73 Jack NY8D So here’s what I have observed in the past week with 1680 WPRR Ada / Grand Rapids. 1680 WPRR Ada, MI, 0015 July 18, 555 AM EE --- Back on with dead carrier to 0026 when R&B music pops in, ID “The Ride” then dead carrier again at 0037 to 0145 when I quit for the night. Next morning check at 1340 still dead carrier and again 0505 July 19, 1700 July 20 + subsequent checks. 0333 July 22, back on with R&B music, 0336 YL voice “WPRR Grand Rapids”. 0347 ID YL voice “102.5 The Ride”. 102.5 is LPFM W273DD located in Alpine Twp just NW of Grand Rapids. 1348 YL ID “WPRR 102.5 FM The Ride Ada-Grand Rapids” July 23 1308, on air, 2239 off air, 2347 WTTM Philadlphia fading in. Found the a website about the new WPRR-AM [1] “Welcome to 102.5 The Ride, Find all the information of this radio station here very soon!” And their Facebook page, [2] "102.5 The Ride R&B Station. Grand Rapids M.I. We are back! Steve Harvey, DJ Z Tyrone and Portia Bynum and The Legendary Commissioner Robert S, Womack! Black Radio at it's finest. Black Media Matters.” Radioinsight [3] reports, “95.3 LPFM W237CZ Grand Rapids sold to Grand Valley State University now relays 88.5 WGVU-FM Allendale. 90.1 WPRR-FM Clyde Twp (NW of Allegan and FWIW very close to the now remote controlled FCC Allegan monitoring station-JA) continues Public Reality Radio.” For WPRR-FM it appears the website [4] remains but needs updating. As far as the Movie Theater side of Goodrich Theaters and Broadcasting, according to Wikipedia [5], “In July 2020, Mason Asset Management, Namdar Realty, and VIP Cinemas purchased Goodrich Quality Theaters under the name Goodrich Theater Newco” [1] https://www.radioking.com/radio/102-5-the-ride [2] https://www.facebook.com/1025-The-Ride-RB-Station-109255857531096 [3] https://radioinsight.com/headlines/192611/102-5-the-ride-returns-adult-rb-to-grand-rapids/ [4] http://www.publicrealityradio.org/ [5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodrich_Quality_Theaters As to who owns or will own WPRR is unclear to me.`` (Jack Amelar, Lowell MI via Glenn Hauser, WOR [but too late to include on WOR 2044]) UNIDENTIFIED. 15867-USB, July 23 at 1434, 2-way in Amerenglish, maybe military; nothing further but merits further surveillance.
