Logs
** CUBA. 5025, Sept 21 at 0640, S9+35/45 of dead air in Spanish from

Pot`, monthly via Channel 292, enjoyable music from RGS and Santa
Catarina states in southern Brasil, not your samba stuff, but even a
polka? UTwente worx fine for this time and frequency. Better than on
// 3955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.005+, Sat Sept 21 at 2159, VOT English not off the
air, S9+45 VG into UTwente, s/on as if it were 1230 on 17620,
something`s always awry at Ankara, into olds. 2217 ending `The Energy
Agenda` and starting `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` about leather from
near border with Iran. 2221 music. 2224  another song. 2228 another.

Saturday September 21 at *0307 on WTWW 5085: had been on the air
previous hour, but off the air at 0300, cut back on with WOR in
progress. Followed 0329-0331* by 2 minutes of music before turnoff. As
always, VG signal direct.

``5085. Sat, Sep 21, 2024. 0259-0330, WTWW, Lebanon-TN, in English.
Man announcer says ID and more; 0300 Stay off-air; 0308,
approximately, returns on-air with Glenn, on the way, reading the
logs, without the traditional opening your WOR program; 0329 Brief
music, ID and ending; 0330 Off and no returns. Fair reception: 35433.
JRX (José Ronaldo Xavier, (75), Cabedelo-Paraíba, Brasil``

Also confirmed Saturday September 21 at 0949 the 0930 on WRMI 9455,
S9+20 direct as I happen to awaken during this semihour.

Also confirmed Saturday September 21 at 1448 the 1430 on SW Gold
Radio, Germany, 6160.000+, S9 into UTwente; followed at 1500 by
Weekend Music Radio, from Scotland.

Also confirmed Saturday September 21 at 1600 on WRN North America
webcast.

Also confirmed Saturday September 21 at 1734 the 1730 on SW Gold
Radio, Germany, 6160.001- at S9/+5 and 3975.002- at S9+5 into
UTwente.

Also confirmed Saturday September 21 from 1959 the 1930v on WA0RCR,
1860 AM, MO, S9+15 groundwave into nearby SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday September 21 at 2000 on WRN Europe webcast.

Unfortunately, 9475 WTWW is off the air at 2226 and later chex, so
part or all of WOR at 2300 may be missing like it was last night on
5085. 9930 with TOMBS is still on the air. Next:

2300 UT Saturday WTWW 9475;
0000 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
0230vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0500];
1900 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy;

2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

As a non-commercial service, voluntary financial support appreciated.
Thanks this week for a generous seasonal contribution for autumn from
Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, by check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser,
P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, UT Sat Sept 21 at 0642 is // 5850 with non-BS gospel
huxter, but must be TOM: instead of RFI in Spanish it usually has been
airing during this hour. TOMBS on 9955 supposedly starts at 0500
weekends only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 660, Sept 21 at 0646 UT, unusual good signal with C&W music,
rivaling 650 WSM. I bet it`s KTNN. Yes! at 0648 ID in English as
``KTNN, Window Rock, Arizona`` and two other towns. Obviously on 50 kW
ND day pattern instead of protecting WFAN NYC as required,
possiblizing much more interesting listening than stupid sportstalk,
into the Midwest. Especially when they get to Navajo drumming and
chanting (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2247 UT September 21

Glenn Hauser logs September 20-21, 2024  View Printable Version
Saturday, September 21 2024

Logs
** CANADA. 28197 CW, Sept 20 at 2204, DE VE7MTY/B and 4 step-down
power dashes; and on 28174, VVV DE VE1VDM/B, and series of dits/E`s,
so 10m beacons from coast to coast. Also several phones higher up from
South America; see CHILE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHILE. 28450 USB, Sept 20 at 2211, CE3KEY calling CQ DX after
working a Canadian. QRZ.com: ``CE3KEY Chile flag Chile, Leonardo (Leo)
Bonilla, Santiago, Chile`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Sept 20 at 0637, S9+45 of dead air in Spanish from R.
Rebelde, hohum; something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 800, Sept 20 at 0620, KQCV OKC with just a bit of distorted
QRM, along with several others like CKLW, PJB. McAllen SDR check at
1558 daytime: still extreme distorted talk on 800, and matching
cadence on non-distorted 690. BTW, Mauno Ritola points out that while
the ``quick & easy`` version of mwlist does not specify Mexican
states, the full database does (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1460, Sept 20 at 0628, ``Grupo Fórmula`` mentioned as I
tune across. IRCA Mexican log shows only two active on 1460, and one
ORF: XEYC 1/1 kW Ciudad Juárez, Chih. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11514.9, Sept 20 at 1510, JBA signal from ex-Hikari
FM pirate. Also Sept 21 at 0020, JBA carrier vs S7/8 noise level on
about 11514.92 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Sept 200 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG
direct and also on 17715, 15520 but still no 15390. Preview interview
topic to be about paralympix (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SUDAN SOUTH [non]. 15550.015+, Sept 20 at 1508, Arabish S8/S9
direct and slightly off-frequency plus. Check UTwente just in time
before 1527* readout 15 Hz high as above, it`s R. Tamazuj from site
MADAGASCAR but at 1445-1600, not -1527* per HFCC, EiBi and Aoki. EiBi
shows sibling service R. Dabanga for Darfur follows on 15550 from 1600
via Vatican, and 1700-1730 via France (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.004+, Sept 20 at 2159 tune-in, S9+20/30 direct, VOT
English is already signing-on instead of IS, and starting olds: their
clock must be fast. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2215 in music.
2228 into UTwente when measured, music at S9+35/40. 2230 `Turkish Folk
Tales`, ``The Nightingale``. 2234 TRTVOTVorld.com promo. 2235 music.
2240 `That`s Why` repeat, Archaeological Adventure in Anatolia: the
Hittites. 2246 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2251 headlines,
2252 s/off and IS until 2253.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 17745.009+, Fri Sept 20 at 1511, S5/S7 direct of
19-second announcement with music, looping with pauses, restarting
every 36 seconds: ``BBC --- This is the BBC; there are no programmmes
on this channel at present. Details of all our services are at
bbcworldservice.com`` Lotsa luck finding anything about this there. At
1528 into UTwente when measured, S9+30/35. Keeps going past 1530 and
even past     1600!

Per HFCC & EiBi, this is amid a 17745 weekday sesquihour pause
between: Somali 1400-1500 at 225 degrees via UAE, and Kinyarwanda
1630-1700 at 315 degrees via MADAGASCAR, i.e. thisaway. I`d opt for
the latter site at this strength. But why waste all those 250 kW? On
weekends, Somali is sked straight thru, 11-17 via UAE, 17-19 via Oman
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2261 monitoring: confirmed Friday

** U S A. 5130 -74 Hz = 5129.926, Sept 20 at *2355, WBCQ comes on with
IS and ID loop, but not 3265, S9/+10 into NH SDR. 2359 ``WBCQ, Radio
Trump International on Radio Angela`` outdated ID, dead air and //
7490 after 0000 Sept 21, opening `AAAWWW` theme with first interjexion
``we have to fight for free speech``, etc. With Angela in Florida
studio 9, right into politix, about taxes, ``Democrat crap``. Made
worse by both of them, especially Angela, yelling, which from a studio
makes their delusions even more of a turn-off. So I hardly pay
attention but let this new episode run in background. 5130- goes to
dead air at 0100 before they are quite finished; at 0102 canned WBCQ
ID, more DA and off by 0103 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** MEXICO. 800, Sept 19 from 0620, the extremely distorted signal is
certainly XEERG, Ojo de Agua, Nuevo León. After two nights of hearing
horribly distorted QRM to KQCV 800 OKC, not noted earlier UT Sept 19
during primetime, but again now at 0620, altho not as severe as
before. See previous reports under OKLAHOMA [and non].

This time I`m checking remote receivers. NOT heard in OKC, so not a
defect of KQCV itself. Not heard at Durango2 SDR. But YES, audible at
these: Querétaro; Austin TX; even Truth or Consequences NM making me
wonder if XEROK could be attempting a comeback. At 0625 am also
hearing it quite well at McAllen TX SDR in the RGV, so I stick with
that. Without KQCV or other QRM there, I can tell there are Spanish
announcements between rock tunes. At 0638, Spanish ID mentions
``92.9``. A BIG clue, so let`s take another look at listings:

mwlist: ``MEX XEERG RG La Deportiva 92.9 FM Ojo de Agua * 10/2.5
relays XHERG 92.9 MHz, ex XEDD La Tremenda``

Who cares what state it`s in? Mwlist does not. But they should, since
there are more than one Ojo de Agua in the country! Google searching
without specifying Nuevo León leads to the major one in Estado de
México. But look at this in the 2024 IRCA Mexican Log:

``800 XEERG NL Ojo de Agua 10000 2500 R-G La Deportiva 24h? SPT ORO //
XERG 690 AM, XHERG 92.9 FM, and XHFMTU 103.7 FM-HD2. ex-XEDD. Stereo.
Staying on AM per IFT. Active on AM 11/23 (logged by DXer) and
included in 8/24 IFT list. This station was purchased because of its
powerful FM license, giving the operator of XERG 690 AM an FM "rim
shot" into Monterrey``

Facebook: ``La localidad de Ojo de Agua está situado en el Municipio
de Agualeguas (en el Estado de Nuevo León). Tiene 82 habitantes. Ojo
de Agua está a 380 metros de altitud.``

So there we have both an FM frequency match and a geographical match
for XEERG near Monterrey. We do not have a format match, but it would
not be unusual for a sports station to be playing music instead in the
nightmiddle. On distorted 800, I hear another announcement break at
0642 before quitting SDR. Final check direct at 0647: less distorted
music still QRMing KQCV.

Then in the daytime at 1615 UT, I check McAllen again: and there it is
by groundwave on 800, extremely distorted talk, presumably about
sports. Non-local strength, only S5. While monitoring via McAllen
remote in the night, I did not yet know about the // on 690. But now
at 1620 there is ALSO NON-distorted sports talk mentioning Monterrey,
on 690. By 1710, no signal on 690, off? but still distorted on 800.
This is not splatter from anything on 790 or 810. The TWR Brownsville
SDR is not available. BTW when I first checked the new McAllen SDR a
few days ago, it was deaf below 1800 kHz, but not anymore. I had
previously asked if anyone else was hearing the distorted 800, but no
replies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2261)
