GLENN HAUSER LOGS WEEKLY ROUNDUPS into one alfabetical file, posted
early UT Thursdays; but I do not intend to issue weekly notifications:
http://www.worldofradio.com/Hauserlogs.html

** CUBA. 13700 & 13780, March 23 at 1411, both RHC are OFF, so
consequently, NO spurs or leapfrogs on this band! Still on are 15230
and extremely distorted 15140, and China relay on 15700 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non?]. Level 3 tropo blob over SW OK, and level 1
edge over OKC as far as Enid, leads to BAD TVDX signals on RF 20, 28,
31 and 35, March 23 circa 1500 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TAIWAN [non]. 5800 // 7780 // 9395 // 5010, UT Mon March 23 at
0200, Radio Taiwan Internacional via WRMI, opening Spanish program
dated Monday March 16, with `Galería Cultural`. 5800 quickly cut off
the air but the others continue. RTI tests were supposed to be last
week only, so I suspect the automation has not been reprogrammed to
resume `normal` programming. What`s next? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2026 monitoring: NOT confirmed
Sunday March 22 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, which has been reliable for many
months; instead, rock music, good signal at Rockport ME KiwiSDR;
checking WRMI skedgrid, it now shows yet another time for VORW Sundays
at 21-22.

However it also shows resumed an old Saturday-morning time for us,
1130 on 9955; to be confirmed, not by me, zzz. But it still also shows
Wed 2100 on 7780, despite having been replaced March 11 by TIAMS; not
certain what happened March 18.

Three WOR times continue to show on the System D schedule between 21
and 22 UT but believed imaginary, on *no* frequencies. To be certain,
check all possible WRMI frequencies, Tue 2130, Wed & Thu 2100.

Still confirmed UT Monday March 23 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, and 30
seconds later after double-IDs, on 9395. But that`s not all! Also on
5800, which I was checking expecting something else. It`s synchronized
with 9395 delay, not 7780. 5800 is good as usual but with squeal.

Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 23 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, F-G via UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 23 from 0302 on Area 51 webcast, and also
WBCQ 5130 heard via Alex VA SDR, back on air after absent last night.

Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 23 at 0345 the 0330 on WRMI 9955, fair S9
here.

While it`s nice for everyone to have several chances of hearing WOR
half-hours on Sunday evenings, I do wish some of these could be on
Saturdays; when airtime is apparently consumed by higher-priority
programming. Next:

1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7490v, UT Mon March 23 at 0052, guess what, classical music
still on WBCQ, altho March 16 was supposed to be the final airing of
`Encore`; quick check so unknown if new show or replay of old show.
Ooh, missed checking 0200 on WRMI 9455 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1654 UT March 23

Glenn Hauser Weekly Log Roundups  View Printable Version
Monday, March 23 2020

Hauser
Dear Readers,

Altho I can no longer produce DX Listening Digests every week, since January 17, I have been rounding up all my personal log reports each week into one alfabetical file; sometimes quoting info from elsewhere where relevant. These are now accessible to all, including websearching where reposed at www.w4uvh.net via:

http://worldofradio.com/Hauserlogs.html

Glenn Hauser logs March 22, 2020  View Printable Version
Sunday, March 22 2020

Hauser
** CUBA. 5025, March 22 at 0633, R. Rebelde is S9+20 but suptorted.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba.

5040, March 22 at 0634, RHC no English but S9+40 of air dead except
for squeal, hum. 6145 is undermodulated, 6100 & 6060 good, 6000 off,
but see unID. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13620, March 22 at 1501, JBA carrier, the RHC leapfrog
mixing product of 13780 dead air over modulated 13700 another 80 kHz
below. 13780 carrier remains on after 1504* of 13700, so 13620 then no
longer exists. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 13700, Sunday March 22 at 1503, bonus frequency for weekly
RHC Esperanto, starting late, but chopped off the air at 1504* while
continues on 11760 and stronger but distorted 15140. At 1502 they were
all blabbing frequency list in Spanish bound to be incorrect.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. Re: ``4015-USB, March 22 at 0041, S9+20 of folk
music, including lyrix ``Down on my luck``, ``Honduras, ``guns and
money``, S9+10.``

Sheldon Harvey replies: ``Glenn, on your logging above, the song being
played here is Lawyers, Guns and Money by Warren Zevon, on of my
favourite artists!`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5800, March 22 at 0638, S9+20 of dead air except for some
squeal. Must be the WRMI-10 transmitter, nominally off after 0200; why
on now? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6000-USB, March 22 at 0635, very weak 2-way surprised to
find here when surveying RHC, maybe Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1950 UT March 22

Glenn Hauser logs March 21-22, 2020  View Printable Version
Sunday, March 22 2020

Hauser
** BRAZIL. 9665.9, March 21 at 2235, and about an hour earlier, no
signal from RVM, which would be propagating if on, since 9630+ Radio
Aparecida succeeds (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA, 13620, March 21 at 1525, RHC is JBA, // 13780 & 13700 of
which this is a leapfrog mixing product; reverse on 13860 has
something stronger blocking, VOA Radio Ashna, 1430-1630 via Woofferton
UK. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925.0-AM, March 22 at 0037, C&W music, S7-S9
undermodulated; briefly heavy QRM from 2-way on 6930-LSB. Then I am
distracted by two more simulpirates on the 4 MHz band, q.v. At 0058
back to 6925, now S9+20 playing choral ``O, Canada``, 0059 SSTV
beepery. Several logs here as unID, but a couple with ID CYOT:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,64454.0.html
No view of the SSTV ID. So it`s ``Canadian`` -- or could be, which is
why I always file these unknown location pirates continentally rather
than countrily, not to overlook our northish neighbours. Off at 0105
check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4015-USB, March 22 at 0041, S9+20 of folk music,
including lyrix ``Down on my luck``, ``Honduras, ``guns and money``,
S9+10. Distracted by two simulpirates on 4175, 6925, qq. vv. Recheck
just in time at 0048 to hear ``Wolverine Radio`` ID, more music; still
going at 0107. Or something; this thread is rather confusing with some
other IDs reported as WDDR:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,64455.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 4175-USB, March 22 at 0044, S9+25 of rock music;
0100 live DJ announcement, ``X-FM, broadcasting to you from somewhere
under the stars; it`s one o`clock zulu``, acknowledging reports; 0102
a strange show tonight since his computer died; going mellower now;
address xfmshortwave@gmail.com mentions T-A reports; tnx to Mix Radio
International at the controls --- so relayed by that one? ``East of
the Rockies, but west of Normal`` (Illinois?); last two tunes will be
by Bruces, Coburn and Springsteen. ``From somewhere under the stars.``
0119 seems wrapping up over music, refers to HFU logs, requests; 0122
sign-off with 1:22 TC; e-mail address again; a request for some
Tool(?), ``Music to the power of X``; one more greeting over music to
someone in the wilds of Arkansas with a shiny loop antenna. Many many
logs here starting at 2243:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,64447.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565-CW, March 21 at 1524, K6FRC, HIFER beacon from
Patterson, California, is quite audible vs CODAR after many morning
chex with none of it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2026 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov,
Bulgaria reports: ``Fair/good signal of World of Radio#2026, March 21
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGGSl9sOUYk&feature=youtu.be
1300-1330 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg WEu English Sat World of
Radio``

Also confirmed, Sat Mar 21 at 1952 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, JBA at
KiwiSDR, Peoria IL, too weak to compute when it started. Better via
same route starting at 0321 UT Sun Mar 22. Next:

0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210
2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395 to NNW
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW
0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE
0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130, March 22 at 0049 and later, no signal from Area
51/WBCQ, nor later; rather, too much pirate activity. See NORTH
AMERICA. WBCQ still not reactivated on 3265v or 6160v either (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5010, Mar 22 at 0108, WRMI with classical music, the bonus
frequency which Brice has not publicized for `Encore` now at 01-02 UT
Sundays; S9+30 here even tho aimed SSE; while primary 5850 is S9+45.
Repeat will be UT Mon 02-03 on 9455. Meanwhile, another survey of
what`s on the other WRMIs this UT Sunday at 0110+

5800, AWR Wavescan, Jeff interviewing George Ross of TWR at HFCC A-20
KL, recorded before it started; more to follow. Jeff mentions that
among the cancellations are NASB, which was scheduled for May 14-15 at
WEWN.

5950, SMTV
7570 & 7730, TOMBS
7780, `La Rosa de Tokio`, this week appreciating AWR with clips
including something on 5950; Moyabi, Gabon ID in English; 0128 AWR ID
in Thai(?)
9395, music, Oldies?
9455, different music, rock
9955, jamming and gospel? song

Partial recheck at 0130: 9395, 9455, 7780, 5800, 9955 all with
different musix I am not trying to unravel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sunday March 22 at 0020, after interminable
hamstuff and commercials by Ted --- he must be getting a good cut of
all that revenue --- Bob Heil starts his anonymous theatre organ show
from ``new`` studio in Belleville IL; ``Theatre Organ Not in the
Ozarx``? = TONITO. Sounds familiar; first tune is ``Everything`s
Coming Up Roses`` --- maybe keeping track of openers would cue us
about reruns, unless considered a theme. Considerable distortion here
at 0045 check, S9+45, and listening on webcast is not handy; recheck
0052, 5085 already back to rock music, so hardly exceeded 30 minutes
this week (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6950-LSB, March 22 at 0036, QSO in Spanish about antenna
mathematical principles. One can`t help but encounter these when
seeking N American pirates.

6920-LSB, March 22 at 0037, another QSO in Spanish. I will not call
them hams since they are not above 7000; who knows if they be
otherwise licensed, nor which borderside (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0357 UT March 22

Glenn Hauser logs March 20-21, 2020  View Printable Version
Saturday, March 21 2020

Hauser
** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, UT Sat March 21 at 0100, RAE in English via
WRMI: no news, whole program about a rock group, Almendra, on the
exact 50th anniversary of their album. But that was in January 1970,
so evidently a 2-month-old program repeated to fill, because:

``Argentina: "RAE ARGENTINA AL MUNDO --- INFORMACIÓN IMPORTANTE
https://www.radionacional.com.ar/rae-nueva-web/
undated (via Dr Hansjoerg Biener 20 March 2020)``

My reply: ``So like Spain and probably more to come -- replacing
external services with domestic programming. OK if this is really
necessary due to workplace environments, etc. Doing away with foreign
language services does NOT improve the situation, as their rationale
implies, diminishing contact with the rest of the world. Glenn``

The ``Friday`` show should have included their DX Actuality program.
Still no sign of RAE Spanish even if a domestic relay: see USA for
another full survey of WRMI 0100-0300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 218-MCW kHz, March 20 at 0610, dash and RL, ND beacon of
975 watts at Red Lake, Ontario.

223-MCW kHz, March 20 at 0611, dash and YYW, ND beacon of 1000 watts
at Armstrong, Ontario.

245-MCW kHz, March 20 at 0612, dash and YZE, ND beacon of 1000 watts
at Gore Bay, Ontario.

None new here but pleased to be able to copy at least these hi-power
ones vs all the storm and line noise, worse at the lower end of the
LWB band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13620 & 13860, March 20 at 1401, RHC S1 JBA as leapfrog
mixing products of 13700 & 13780, another 80 kHz beyond in both
direxions; while no plain ole FMish spurblobs at all are emanating out
of 13700.

By 1403, 13780 has dropped to dead air at S9+30 while 13700 is still
modulating S9+40, reducing what little audio croak out of the `frogs.
By 1418, however, 13780 dead air has some just-barely modulation.

BTW, this proves that 13700 & 13780 are now from the same transmitter
site. Despite Aoki showing 13700 Bauta, not caught up with new 13780
but had ex-13740 at Bejucal. EiBi doesn`t list either 13740 or 13780,
but 13700 as b for Bauta. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 25, turns out that KWTV OKC not decoding here was not
due to DX interference, but low tower. Reply, interchange with Jack
Mills, Director of Engineering, March 19:

``Mr Hauser: Sorry you had reception issues yesterday but two antennas
(old KFOR and old KOPX) were being removed from the tower we are
located on. I had to put our signal on an auxiliary antenna that is
lower on the tower. Attached is a pic of the work being done. We may
have some signal issues this month and maybe next month while this
work is being completed, but should be back to the main antenna each
evening. Jack Mills, Director of Engineering KWTV - KSBI``

Mr Mills, Many thanks for the reply and explanation. Will look forward
to everything back to normal. (And I suppose KSBI signal is not going
to be improved?) Glenn

``We did lose 1/3 of the transmitter last week. I just now got it back
up, it had High Voltage issues. Are you having better luck receiving
it?``

I assume you are referring here to KSBI 23? No, it is still at the
usual Bad level, insufficient. KWTV 25 however is back in solid; as of
noon Friday, and I think also last night (Glenn Hauser, Enid, March
20, via WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, March 20 at 2259, TRT IS fair-poor but averaging S9,
2300 opening English after timesignal which this time is 3.5 rather
than 1.5 seconds late compared to WWV. Something`s always inaccurate
at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2026 monitoring. Confirmed first
north/west hemisphere SW broadcast, Friday March 20 at 2200 on WRMI
9955, fair-good over lite pulse jamming.

Also confirmed UT Sat Mar 21 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5010 poor // 5850 very
good // 7780 fair here, good at UTwente. Next:

0900 UT Saturday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210
1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE

http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130, March 20 at 2351, this WBCQ is already on for music,
so should also be on for the next hour of `Allan and Angela, Angela
and Allan, Worldwide` as well at 7490.17 now with the FKB gospel
huxter phoner.

7490.17, UT Sat March 21 at 0000, WBCQ `A&AA&AWWW` gets off to usual
rough start with pause, WTO theme interrupted, but again they`re live
from Deland of Fla, ``Studio Numero Nine``, delaying plan to return to
Maine and do some transmitter work; only a few minutes into confirming
date as 20 March YOOL 2020. Trouble is, they immediately start talking
about COVID 19, which I`ve had enough of already all week+ from the
major media; and I hardly need to hear his pious take on it being
godswill, and faith will get us thru it.

Recheck at 0050, drifted down to 7490.05 as reading 1710 pirate log
from new FRW just out; then some e-mails and benedixion. (I believe
John Carver has computer problems again so no version from him, at
least not yet. If anyone heard any significant WBCQ info about
programming, technical, future plans, etc., do tell.) (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. Again tonight, UT March 21 at 0100-0300 I survey what`s
happening on each WRMI frequency, whatever the skedgrids may imply:

7780, Ukrainian Radio, English, folk tale continued, UTwente

9455, music, Oldies?
9955, Eslovaquia in Espanish; well audible only at Colombia SDR
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9294-9320 approx., March 20 at 0605, wideband
multi-carrier ute whine of some sort, S9, apparently not blocking any
broadcasters around here. Heard once before recently; rather like we
used to find around 17450 in the daytime. Ideas?

And this from *2017y*, 3+ years ago:

``UNIDENTIFIED. 9258-9272, Feb 1 at 0444 and still 0457, S9 multi-
carrier ringing sound producing a single hi-pitched tone when tuned in
AM, centered on the only WINB frequency, 9265, which is normally off
the air by now. What in the world? Are they testing something new, or
is this something else?

Another check for this 25 hours later, Feb 2 at 0523, not heard.

9265, Thu Feb 2 at 1302, there it is again at totally different
daypart, whine at S9+10. If this were Sunday, WINB would be on
already. Will be interesting to see whether this ever QRM WINB during
its normal schedule. Still going at 1420 past 1442 during which I try
to locate the carrier peaks on the hi side at least, approx. 9265.5,
9266.1, 9266.8, 9267.5, 9268.2, 9268.8, 9269.4, 9270.1, 9270.7,
9271.3. Then I pull out the keyboard and find a close match at E above
hi C = 659 Hz, within a very few Hz of that. Any ideas what and whence
this is? It`s similar to some others I have heard, such as circa 17450
