Wednesday, January 06 2021
** ALGERIA [non]. 7375, Jan 5 at 1800, RRI in Romanian is the only signal audible via UTwente, despite TDA also scheduled via Issoudun, France. So is TDA really somewhere else for the first hour?
7315, Jan 5 from *1900, TDA opening abruptly via FRANCE, in French, shortly Arabic. Meanwhile 7375 is still RRI only. The 19-20 UT hour might be when Spanish and English segments from the International program might appear during winter as it was 18-19 during summer, but I don`t have a chance to monitor the whole hour. At HFCC, if you go to TDA here: http://www.hfcc.org/data/schedbyfmo.php?seas=B20&fmor=TDA you get only the imaginary schedules from still under construxion(?) Bechar and Ourgla sites inside Algeria; while if you go here: http://www.hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=B20&broadc=TDA there is a mixture of the imaginary and real(?) transmissions via Issoudun (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 6970, Jan 4 at 2352, Chinese S6-S9 fluttery, certainly not a pirate but another CNR1 jammer (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100 & 6145, Jan 5 at 0724, open carrier dead air from both RHC English channels, S9+10/20 and S9+20/30 respectively; the latter meaning that 6145 again replaced 9700 all evening. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15700, Jan 5 at 1518, S9/+10 of totally dead air instead of CRI English relay; something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 960, Jan 5 at 0657 UT, KGWA Enid again in dead air 24 hours later; 0659 Rush ad and full ID for 100.9 & 960 --- which I find on one of my analog AM/FM radios line up at the same slide-rule dial position, what a coincidence, as I confirm both are in dead air during most of the first two minutes of Fox slanted ``news`` on the hour. 0708 local? announcement and more dead air continuously past 0722 and 0746 final check. 960 nulled at 0711, I hear echoey sports talk, likely KGKL San Angelo TX as IDed last night, and another ESPN affiliate, of which there are at least 4 on 960; most likely WSBT South Bend IN, U4 5/5 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. ``Enid 32 K19IR Returned to the air under STA for this channel, 100w/53m. Oklahoma City 21 KTBO-TV Requests STA 15kw/211m, 35-22-10/97-27-40; to temporarily share on KUOT-CD pending replacement of tower destroyed by ice storm. Tulsa 14 KTUL From 10, 1000kw/578m`` (from Doug Smith`s FCC News column in January WTFDA VHF-UHF Digest) Hi Doug, Allegedly! I do not now see, nor have I ever seen any signal from K19IR ``Enid` on RF 32 (or 19). From FCC TV Query there have apparently been two different sites near Enid, not Tulsa or OKC like some of the other pretenders. Tropo is up from KUOT RF 21, OKC, and indeed I see TBN main channel on 21-2, while 1, 3, 4 and 5 appear to continue various 3ABN channels. 21-2 is still PSIP labeled nothing but KUOT like all the others. There is a transparent TBN bug in upper right. RF 15 has something on it but no decode, as I guess KTBO is completely off otherwise from OKC. I am comparing 21-2 to Suddenlink cable 3; no idea what goes with the other TBN subchannels. Were there any other FM or TV signals on the destroyed KTBO tower? Interesting to see that KTUL is giving up on VHF! Despite repacking making UHF more and more crowded. Have not seen it yet. Terrible about the Nashville bombing. I hope you were not affected in any way, but how about your employer? 73, Glenn, Enid [to Doug] ``Educated guess is that K19IR's period back on the air didn't last long (possibly only an hour or two). It went dark on Jan. 15th, 2020, citing the need to acquire & install equipment to accommodate the repack (bumped from ch. 19 by KAUT OKC). The STA to return on ch. 32 says "The Applicant has a smaller transmitter, than is required for the CP, and the antenna panels on hand to build a smaller version of the station effective immediately." This STA was filed on Nov. 2nd, at which time K19IR had ten weeks to return to the air or lose its license under the "off over a year" law. The STA text is "boilerplate" -- Edge Spectrum filed numerous STAs around the country using identical text. ================================ No, there are no other broadcast signals listed on the KTBO tower. Interesting that they're still coming up as 21.2 instead of 14.1. I'm not thinking FCC permission would have been needed to do that -- KUOT is welcome to change the programming on 21.2 at any time, including to carry TBN as long as they have TBN's permission to do so. A sharing agreement would have been necessary either if KUOT wasn't willing to take responsibility for TBN's compliance with non-technical regulations, or if TBN didn't expect to get KTBO back on its own signal within a year (but KTBO went off on Oct. 27th so they've got plenty of time to get back on.) ================================ [non] No physical effects here from the bombing, it was seven miles from home & four from work & only affected a limited area. But while nobody was seriously injured (except the bomber), the economic injuries are pretty serious. My understanding is 1200 people are now out of work, and it is quite possible several hospitality businesses which survived the pandemic won't survive this. Hundreds of people lived in apartments above the damaged buildings & have lost their homes -- some will likely not be allowed back in to retrieve their possessions. The AT&T outage was pretty problematical though. Took out all AT&T cellphones in the area, and shut down a number of private data circuits. It also shut down AT&T Internet service for millions, and the local stations disappeared from Dish Network (which is NOT the AT&T-owned service) for a while (I'm sure Dish uses a private AT&T circuit to get the local stations from Nashville to their uplink site.) Many people were confused by the fact AT&T internet was still up for five hours after the bombing. My understanding is the backup generators were fueled by natural gas & the gas pipes were damaged -- they had to shut down the generators to make sure they didn't cause a second, unintentional, explosion`` (Doug Smith to gh) KTOU-LD, RF 22, OKC also decoded this evening [circa 0445 UT Jan 5]: 22-1 HSN1 22-2 SBN 22-3 HSN2 22-4 KTOU on PSIP but full color bars only, silence [not The Country Network as in rabbitears.info] 22-5 Shop 22-6 Shop = identical to 22-5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring: NOT confirmed UT Tuesday January 5 at 0330 on WRMI 5800; again this week two episodes of `Freedom Synergy Radio` at 0300 & 0330, despite not showing on the skedgrid, with WOR displayed at 0330. Not clear whether FSR will be continuing indefinitely or not. Next: 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (101.1), UT Tue Jan 5 from 0400, KSFR Santa Fe NM webcast with `The Global Village`, replacement for `Beyond Borders` which has already moved to Thursdays 1600-1900 UT. B.B. was truly ``world`` music, beyond domestic/western, while the new show mixes in the latter, so not so interesting. T.G.V. host acts as if it has been on before, but no such title anywhen on the KSFR sked, which still shows B.B. at its old time. Perhaps T.G.V. be not local origination: Publicradiofan.com shows two shows of that name from KMUW and WCBE. The KMUW Wichita one is/was also on 8 other stations. BTW, filed under G, not T, tho PRF does list many other shows named ``The ---`` under T. Yes, that`s it, the one originating with KMUW Wichita: https://www.kmuw.org/programs/global-village I recognize the host name, Chris Heim, which I did not know how to spell; it`s a 1-hour strip M-F at 7 pm CST [01 UT Tue-Sat], which explains why I was hearing someone else on KSFR after 05 UT. We used to be able to hear KMUW 89.1 direct in Enid until a gospel huxter translator usurped the frequency, bane of the non-commercial band. On KSFR there was soon a break for a promo by Susan Ohori about the new time for her B.B. Like Susan, Chris does not want her image to be seen in the staff profiles, but is referred to as a ``she``: https://www.kmuw.org/people/chris-heim (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0053 UT January 6

Glenn Hauser logs January 3-4, 2021 |

Monday, January 04 2021
** CANADA. 284-MCW kHz, Jan 4 at 0715, dash and QD, 500-watt non-direxional beacon at The Pas, Manitoba.
300-MCW kHz, Jan 4 at 0717 UT, dash and YIV, 500-watt NDB at Island Lake, Manitoba, but weaker than QD. [and non] 332-MCW kHz, Jan 4 at 0719 UT, dash and QT, 1000-watt NDB at Thunder Bay, Ontario, way over nearby 400-watt IC Wichita KS, which is ten times as close (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700, Jan 4 at 0704, S9+ dead air and off, as RHC English has decided enough is enough without another hour repeating. Then I find two JBA signals slightly askew from 6100 and 6000; see UNIDENTIFIED. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Jan 4 at 1545, Kurdish? YL talk, presumed Dengê Welat, which recently jumped here from 11530 presumably because of Turkish jamming. Aoki still has both on 11530 where nothing is heard; EiBi already has D.W. on 11540 but no jammer shown; switching from Moldova to FRANCE site at 1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. ND Beacons are still AWOL, Jan 4 at 0714, 0719 UT: 255 no SW Stillwater but JBA algo else; 341 no EI Enid but OIN Oberlin KS; 350 no RG OKC. BTW, my wideband high local line noise level seems to have abated after the holidays, whew (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 960, Jan 4 at 0647 UT, I find that my local KGWA Enid is in dead air. Apprehensively, I tune with headphones on the DX-398 with Kaygee nulled as much as possible, which means favoring NE/SW, and there are at least two talk stations mixing above the jumble. At 0657 I pull an ID from ``ESPN San Angelo`` --- see separate log under USA. At 0659 KGWA modulation blasts back on for legal ID ``K265FL-FM [sic] and KGWA, Talk 100.9`` and into Fox ``News``. Recheck at 0710, KGWA in dead air again, then a Rush promo and back to DA; 0724 recheck, again/still DA. KGWA automation is obviously screwed, and no one around to notice or fix it; so how can they expect to have anyone else listening? I might have scored some more understations but it`s very2 late, good night, almost. Must check more often for KGWA provision of dead air beyond nightmiddles (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring: confirmed Sunday January 3 after 2300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.34, S7-S9 via Rochester remote in SAM mode showing minus 66v Hz carrier offset. Closing word ``disclaimer`` overridden with HRI just too eager to take over. It seems two seconds of silence at end of WOR files be still not enough. Also confirmed UT Monday January 4 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Mon Jan 4 at 0230 on WRMIs: 5800 S9+30 at Missouri SDR; also 7780, S9/+10 at UTwente; also on WRN webcast. Also confirmed UT Mon Jan 4 at 0430 on WRMI 9955, S7-S9 over jamming at TWR Bonaire SDR. Also confirmed Mon Jan 4 from 1900:42 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria, S9+25 into UTwente, but always with extremely annoying splash from 7280 Vietnam and 7295 East Turkestan which cannot be evaded by LSB or USB or narrow bandwidth Synch AM; recheck at closing signal is weaker and more QRMed but I can tell my last word, ``disclaimer`` is not chopped off! Earlier: *1855 carrier on, S9+15/20; 1857 strength seems to bump up to quieter and/or lesssplash; 1859:51 cut on bit of music mod and IRRS ID falsely claiming this is in ``AM compatible, reduced carrier USB, best tuned in USB`` --- NOT! And has not really been in that mode for years. 1900:12 `Feature Story News` headlines, then WOR. On same UTwente I fish around for WWV, RWM, CHU or anytimesignal as correxion factor but can`t find any, not even faux Italcable. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [presumed resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 960, Jan 4 at 0657 UT, ``ESPN San Angelo`` ID in the mix tnx to dead air from my local KGWA Enid. On DX-398 with KGWA nulled as much as possible toward SW/NE. ESPN ID holes are typically 2-3 minutes before hourtop. That`s KGKL in TX, also one of the stations I used to get during the midnight 5-minute Fox Hole that KGWA used to provide; now its deadairness is random and unpredictable; see OKLAHOMA. KGKL underwent a format change since the NRC AM Log was printed, ex-news/talk/sport, ``The Voice of Concho Valley``, when it was U2 5000/1000 W with CP for U1 5000/116, so is it already only 116 watts at night and now non-direxional? Night pattern used to be tight WNW/ESE with null thisaway, but that did not keep me from hearing it before: May 22, 2016 tentatively under similar circumstances as in DXLD 16-21; April 12, 2015 as in DXLD 15-15, among others. Wikipedia: ``KGKL (960 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a sports format.[1] Licensed to San Angelo, Texas, United States, the station serves the San Angelo area. The station is currently owned by Townsquare Media and before September 1, 2020; featured programming from Premiere Radio Networks, WestwoodOne, Dave Ramsey, and Compass Media Networks. Bill Lockwood's American Liberty program, based at News/Talk 1290 in Wichita Falls, also aired on News/Talk 960 before the format change to sports.[2] The station was awarded a construction permit on March 9, 2020 to become a Class D station, reducing power at night from 1,000 to 116 watts. On September 1, 2020, KGKL changed their format from news/talk to sports, branded as "ESPN 960", with programming from ESPN Radio. Ryan Hyatt's Raiderland also airs on ESPN 960, it is based at Talk 1340 in Lubbock`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6099.920, Jan 4 at 0706, JBA carrier after RHC is off; what could it be? Aoki/NDXC and EiBi agree only KCBS P`yongyang on ``6100`` at this time. 6000.079, Jan 4 at 0708, JBA carrier after RHC is off; what could it be? Aoki would suggest R. Guaíba, Brasil from 0700, except it`s not been on SW for years; or AIR Leh, Ladakh, unlikely to propagate from midday there even at midwinter. The Korean radio war is more likely, currently in Aoki as on 5995, but maybe jumped to alternate 6000 this week, i.e. Echo of Hope and/or jammer. No: Ron Howard reports VOH on 5990 this week, 5995 last week; so? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2139 UT January 4

Sunday, January 03 2021
** AUSTRIA [and non]. From Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K. on the WOR iog: ``Hello Glenn, Regarding the "No COVID at Wiener Philharmoniker". According to the BBC commentator for the programme screened in the U.K., apparently all members of the orchestra were tested for COVID on a daily basis to ensure none was infected. It seems that the programme went out "live" on January 1. I did notice some unfamiliar faces among the players this year. They could be new members, or maybe replacements for those who had to drop out because they caught the virus. Like you, I always greatly enjoy this concert. I can also get it via Astra satellite with German (Austrian accent) commentary, which I much prefer to the English announcer.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13632 & 13769 approx., Jan 3 at 1555, RHC spurblobs, S6, unreadable even in FM mode, but with signature F# tone; also JBA on 13838 = 68-69 kHz intervals from 13700-AM which is S9+10/20. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6929-USB, Jan 2 at 2300, ID as I tune in, ``Goat Cheese Radio 2021``, S8-S9, ``As Time Goes By``, 2304 another song by same singer, others report as Billie Holiday and I do not disagree. But from 2305 keeps cutting out. Someone politely calls this a medley, but sounds to me like CD skipping from one track to the next in bits of a variety of songs by same singer. Since there is no carrier it`s tantamount to turning the transmitter off and on. Enough of that; anyhow I`ve got the ID. See: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,76413.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, Jan 3 at 0002 UT, ND beacon EI, Enid, is back on; in fact I think it was already circa 0715 Jan 2, but did not make it into my dozing log notes. But still AWOL are: 255-MCW, SW, Stillwater; and 350-MCW, RG, Oklahoma City. 341-MCW kHz, Jan 3 at 1553, EI is off again, only OIN Oberlin KS audible, and the other two Okies are still off (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U K. BBCWS New Year`s Concert --- in case you missed or could not hear it at 1906 UT Sat and/nor 1206 UT Sun, here it is: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct1d06 73, (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR iog) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring: confirmed Saturday January 2 at 2100 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM local quality via nearby Warrenton MO KiwiSDR, until ending at 2110:25, so started circa 2041. Also confirmed Sat Jan 2 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, VP direct. Also confirmed UT Sun Jan 3 from 0416:35 on WA0RCR, The Gateway 160-meter Radio Newsletter, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, VG via Warrenton SDR; and just before that was also audible tho poorly way out at Token`s Mohave, California SDR, which I had up checking KVOH, 60 miles away. Making it almost coast-to-coast as Andy Robins tells me: ``Hi Glenn: I thought you might like to hear how WOR sounds at some distance from the Wentzville, Missouri, "160-Meter Gateway" station on 1860 kHz. The attached recording was made using a KiwiSDR near Zion, Pennsylvania, that has a 220-meter BOG antenna oriented at 60/240°. Reception quality varied from poor to pretty good with a lot of fades, some of which were rather lengthy. On this occasion (UT Sunday, January 3), the program started at 0416. I can't receive WAØRCR here at home. With WTOU 1660 kHz less than two miles away (10 kW day/1 kW night), I must use a mediumwave stop-band filter at all times. That effectively kills 160 meters too, unfortunately. I hope you are getting started on a New Year that's significantly better than the one before. 73, Andy Robins, Kalamazoo, Michigan USA`` Next: 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [presumed resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Jan 3 at 0120, WTWW-2 has just started `Theater Organ Under the Arch`, so I switch to webcast for $ tereo; ends at 0153 in typical 30+ minute variable block (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15555-USB, Jan 3 at 1557, S6 JBA gospel huxter, as WJHR is active again, quite irregularly audible, not necessarily on Sundays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re 1220, WCPH, Etowah, TN, "... how to pronounce it...", Greg Hardison, CA, says: ``In North Georgia, it's [EHT' (as in "EThnic", but with a hard-"T") - oh (as in "Ohio") - wa (as in "WAter")]. EHT'-oh-wah: accent on the first syllable. Hope this helps!`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival is again being broadcast, presumably for a 13-week series which usually appears in the second quarter as lead-in to the July/August event, e.g. Sundays 16-17 UT on KUCO-FM, January 3 featuring Mendelssohn`s Octet; outro as recorded in *2019* since the 2020 probably was missed. Should be on many other classical stations via the WFMT network (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Date and time were missing from this; now added! Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carriers, not a thoro search but stepping 10 kHz on USB I hear the telltale hets from plus 1 kHz against the following domestic frequencies: 530, 620, 710, 890; and 1430; at 0052 UT January 1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1917 UT January 3

Hauser Update |

Saturday, January 02 2021
** AUSTRIA [non]. Comment sent via PBS Great Performances webform:
``No COVID at Wiener Philharmoniker? --- Always anticipated and enjoyed. New Year concert is obviously heavily post-produced with dancing outside in the summer; yet there was no audience in the hall due to COVID. Yet, not a mask anywhere on the non-blowing musicians, and no social distancing. WHEN was that actually recorded??? It would appear to be pre-COVID except for the zero audience. It may be for ``2021`` but I could not catch any (c) year at end of the credits. Were the musicians really voluntarily put at risk? Will there be follow-ups on how many were infected or died as a result of this?`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700 & 6145, Jan 2 at 0706, neither RHC English frequency is on, but 6100 remains at S9+10 but of air that is dead. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13771 & 13629 approx., Jan 2 at 1453, RHC FMish F# spurblobs but only S1, from 13700-AM plus and minus ~71 kHz; lower one blox JBA 13630-AM carrier, i.e. VOA Kirundi at 1400-1500 Sat & Sun only via VATICAN, violating Separation of Church and State; spurs still same at 1539 without the 13630. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA [non]. 17545.051V, Jan 2 at 1534, JBA off-frequency and wobbling audibly as I try to measure it to about 17545.060, i.e. the Sat & Wed-only Bayto Yaikl clandestine via RMI via presumed Issoudun, FRANCE defective transmitter. At 1550 I check same via South Africa TWR KiwiSDR in SAM mode displaying offset plus carrier cycling between 34 and 65 Hz; S7-S9, quite readable about COVID-19. No signal at all via the Qatar Qiwi; there are none closer to Eritrean target (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY. 11900, Jan 2 at 1458, outro of `Christ Gospel` huxter program with Jeffersonville, Indiana address, then sign-off of Bible Voice Broadcasting at Newmarket, Ontario address; with long/short path echo and off 1500*. Aoki shows Saturday only at 1400-1458 via Nauen, Christ Gospel as first semihour only. HFCC shows 250 kW at 102 degrees for CIRAF 41 = Pakistan/India/Bangladesh. Short path Nauen to Enid is 8079 km = 5020 stmi. 24900 minus 5020 for long-path would be 19880 stmi. Difference 19880 minus 5020 = 14860. 14860 divided by speed of light 186,000 mi/sec = .08 second delay or about 1/12 of one second echo. We are probably getting primary signal off-the-back direct which would be aimed 282 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** IRELAND [and non]. 13264-USB, Jan 2 at 1456, VOLMET by YL in English, S4-S5, i.e. Shannon. No better, 13270-USB Gander OM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Jan 2 at 0706, VON succeeds on air, S7-S9 but JBM = just barely modulated; why bother? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, Jan 2 at 1455, HIFER beacon K6FRC quite clear with continuous IDs from Patterson, California, claimed to be only 1.8 milliwatts; the only one audible on the 13550-13570 ISM Part 15 band, no WV from WV on 13555 now; but always the non-IDing pulsing on 13560 which could be from local store or medical RF devices, and/or propagated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring: slept thru the Sat Jan 2 airing at 1300-1329 on WRMI 15770; anyone hear it? Next: 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [presumed resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1220 kHz, Jan 2 at 0707 UT tune-in, immediately hear very slow Morse code IDs for WCPH, about four in a row; 0708 sweeps going upward; 0710 VVV WCPH IDs at `normal` speed. 0711 continuous 1 kHz tones with a couple brief pauses; 0713 VVV WCPH IDs very slow and some fading; 0715 no tones heard, maybe voice announcements but totally unreadable. I`m tuning in USB which may help audiblize the MCW. Thruout, WCPH quite distinct from the rumble of multiple AM stations, nothing readable from any of them. Nothing further needed to be sure I heard it, even after the first 10 seconds. Others reported it started an hour earlier from 0600 UT instead of publicized 0700-0900, with full day power of 1000 watts on day pattern --- but listed as U1 nondirexional day and night, 1000/109 watts. Congrats to WCPH on its 65th anniversary. This on my Icom R75 fed by 100-foot east-west longwire, a few feet above snow on the ground, favoring reception from the east. Not necessary to check via alternative DX-398 with internal antenna only. Please eQSL. Etowah is between Knoxville and Chattanooga, east of I-75. 1351 km = 858 statute miles city to Enid. I`m still not sure how to pronounce it, as I don`t recall ever hearing it uttered during all my years in Knoxville; but spelt backwards it is Hawote. It is certainly an interesting name. Googling on it I discover first that there is an Etowah in Oklahoma, a tiny town SE of Norman: ``ETOWAH. Located in Cleveland County, Etowah lies on Etowah Road eleven miles east of Noble. Historian George Shirk noted that the town name was derived from a Cherokee settlement in Georgia,`` says the Oklahoma Historical Society. Wikipedia says, ``Etowah is a Muskogee (Creek) word (Muscogee spelling: italwa) for 'town'/'people'/'tribe'``. More here about the WCPH Etowah: https://www.cityofetowahtn.com/2229/History-of-Etowah (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1920 UT January 2

DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS UPDATE JANUARY 1 http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html WRMI entries not fully updated yet
WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST UPDATE JANUARY 1 Hi Glenn, Happy New Year! My latest Hitlist update. https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) Guam - KTWR, TWR-Asia: Added entry, including blogspot page containing programme & frequency updates (Thanks to Mike Sabin, Asia Broadcast Technical Operations Director) 2) Romania - R Romania Int: Added link to RRM domestic service 2-week schedule. Play list for the Sunday Radio Concert Season programme on RRI can be found by checking the previous Friday entry at 1900 on the RRM webpage) Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be late January. Best wishes and 73 (Alan Roe, UK) ** COLOMBIA. Re: [WOR] 4940 kHz. - La Montana --- ``Happy New Year, Glenn! Believe the 2021 WRTH has 4940 as La Montana Colombia, 1 KW. Ron Howard`` So it has, page 166 - somehow I assumed it would not be in WRTH yet. [As only SW station in frequency list, location Maicao but:] Station DC26) as if it were in Bogotá. Info apparently from Rafael Rodríguez, who really is in Bogotá, as QSL manager just as he was for the 5910 & 6010 stations really in Puerto Lleras; but did not bother to inform us. The WRTH entry also shows an oficina address as Red 4-72 Unicentro, Bogotá. Does anyone ever really hear an ID as ``La Montana Colombia`` - or Montaña? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [non]. Rechecking for the ND beacons missing last night: still absent at 0253 UT Jan 2 are: 255 SW Stillwater; 341 EI Enid; 350 RG OKC. Enid got about 6 inches of snow overnight early UT January 1; somewhat melting during the day but plenty remains on ground. Fortunately not enough freezing rain icing here to cause problems before snowing. On 341-MCW kHz I am hearing only OIN OberlIN, Kansas; on 350-USB, only dash and YKQ, which is really on 351-MCW from Fort Rupert - Waskaganish, Quebec; also on 351-MCW itself a mixture of YKQ and IN, which is really on 353 from International Falls, Minnesota (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring, next: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1901vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [presumed resumed] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE [ex-0100, presumed resumed] and also new 5010 to S [unconfirmed] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to George McClintock, Nashville TN, who sent a check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490v), UT Sat Jan 2 at 0100, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW``, turns out to be 99% political this week. ``Wake up; the Republic is at Stake``; Angela has been injured, sticking herself on a spine of a huge century plant by the Fla studio; but she still looks ``delicious``. Both of them have fallen for the conspiracy narrative that Trump had to have won, Biden is a joke but if inofficed will lead to takeover of America by socialist/communism headed by the CCP --- what`s that? Allan has a `brain fart`, then remembers it`s the Chinese Communist Party, which is trying to conquer the world, especially the US, including not least via its bio-weapon the COVID virus. [Not addressed, Occamly, why would the ChiCom capitalists want to kill off so many of their customers?? Not to mention the negative image.] After datestamp at 0121 that it is January 1, YOOL 2021, plays a 20-minute podcast? thru a phone-patch which tries to convince that there was massive elexion fraud, and since this thing has been banned from FB, YT and TW, it must be true! On and on; finally 0153 some e-mail, prayer and off. Simultaneously I was getting the new episode of Dr Who, which made a lot more sense (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re `Escape From 2020` special on WBCQ: ``Hello Glenn, Glad you enjoyed the show. Listeners were duly warned that the first three minutes would be as ugly as the year, like the old man / new baby thing in images of yore. We did get beautiful soon after. I wish more entertainment programs would get into the act (pun intended) with specials. Long-term, time sharing might even be a way for two programs who can't pay their own way in isolation to get together and get on the air. Who knows. An eQSL is attached. https://www.w4uvh.net/HAUSERESCAPEFROM2020QSL.pdf 73, -- William "Bill" Tilford Tilford Productions LLC 5713 N. St. Louis Av Chicago IL 60659-4405 tel: 773.267.6548`` Now #107 at http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4980, Jan 2 at 0231, WRMI seems powered up to S9, axually readable with SMTV-sounding talk; ACI from 4985 RTTY and 4980 soon fades way down so maybe just a fluke. Again it`s barely too late to compare to next WRMI on 5010 which must have just closed, leaving 5010- Madagascar without a het. 5800, UT Sat Jan 2 at 0354, WRMI with pop music in Spanish, ID in Spanish, 0356 to Zorba fill music. I was going to check what occupy the 03-04 UT Sat hour this week; evidently neither `TRSW` nor `Encore` but should have got there earlier. Maybe more Freedom Synergy Radio? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9975, Jan 2 at 0249, KVOH is only S4-S5, insufficient; at 0303 I check it via TWR Bonaire SDR to find its longer skip reaching at S7-S8, sufficient with music and preaching. First wanted to check Key West Kiwi but it was offline (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0551 UT January 2
