Saturday, April 25 2020
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** AUSTRALIA. 12362-USB, April 25 at 1432, S2-S3, coastal marine weather in Oz-accented robOM, mostly wind direxions and speeds in knots, seas in metres, times in UTC? forecasts at least until Tuesday; geographical references unrecognized, except 1434 two tones, then Northern Territory. EiBi shows it`s VMW, Wiluna WA on air 24 hours. Nothing heard from companion VMC Charleville QL on 12365-USB supposedly also on air now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** JAPAN [non]. 5985 WRMI & 6195 WHRI, April 25 at 0400-0429, NHK relay entirely in Spanish, no English insert here like in so many other language services. 6105 Japanese via FRANCE went off at 0400 April 25. Ira Holmes in central Florida reported that on April 23, 6105 had English at 0415-0500; but it was off April 24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. Correxion: off at 2253.7* not 2353.7* of course; fixed: 9830, April 24 at 2247, checking VOT English via Bonaire SDR, Turkish music and just in time for YL sign-off claiming again this has been the 1230 broadcast on 15450! NOT. IS plays until 2253.7*, shux, no extra German today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 9410, April 25 at 1446, tune-in to end of a song, sounds like Nat-King Cole, then a non-English song, S5-S9. Of course, it`s VOA Korean via PHILIPPINES, also // weaker 12080 at 1451 check. If you hear classic tunes from The American Songbook, chances are it`s VOA Korean service, which plays a lot of it. Is this a big thing among Koreans, or by the VOA-K music director; or retaliation for K-pop? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 12098-USB, Sat Apr 25 at 1436, CAP net, YL NCS Aspen Gold 99, each transmission ending with beep rather than ``over``; classic paramilitary lingo like ``wilco``; Yellowbird 73 one contact; 1439 asks for relays before we close. No, off at 1440* with net ID as Heartland. Aspen Gold is the Rocky Mountain Region tactical callsign, not specifically Colorado which is Blue Mesa. Maybe it was Yellow Brick, which is Kansas, get it? It seems we never hear any real axion on these CAP nets, such as rushing to scenes of plane crashes, but rather extremely rigid pro-forma exchanges. No problem from the weak SWBC on 12095, which would be BBC Somali; HFCC, EiBi and Aoki all agree that on Saturdays only during this hour, BOTH Madagascar and Uzbekistan sites are in use. Surely it`s only one or the other (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2031 monitoring: confirmed Saturday April 25 at 1134 the 1130 on WRMI 9955, S3-S6 vs pulse jamming. April 25 at 1300 on WRMI 15770: JBA carrier here at 1305. Barely better in Bulgaria, reports Ivo Ivanov: ``Reception of World of Radio#2031 via WRMI-09 Okeechobee, April 25 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynGlIQkk5gw&feature=youtu.be https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2020/04/reception-of-world-of-radio2031-via.html 1300-1330 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg WeEu English Sat, very weak`` - Next: 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315] 0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 and/or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [may be jammed] to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Dan Sheedy, Encinitas, CA, who sent a generous US$ cheque to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17775-, April 25 at 1457, KVOH on already and propagating S9! musical prélude to weekly Saturday English block, the SSOB with traces of 17815 WHRI? and 17615+ Sa`udi Arabia. Wavescan supposed to air at 1500, and confirmed a few minutes later when checked on a Kentucky KiwiSDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1040, April 25 at 0603 UT, WHO Des Moines IA with dead air until 0606 comes to life, blasting ever-changing opening music of C2CAM // many others but not synchronized, 1100, 1110, 1000, etc., guest host tonight Jimmy Church. What would Ronald Reagan say? Is no human paying attention at WHO to its output? I should have hastened to pull something else thru it. Maybe will recur (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11785, April 25 at 1442, open carrier with flutter, S1-S5. VOA Chinese via Philippines ends at 1400 and so too should the CNR1 or Firedrake jamming. Nothing after 1400, except in EiBi, CRI Chinese via Kashgar, East Turkistan, land of imprisoning and brainwashing Uyghurs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1657 UT April 25

Glenn Hauser logs April 24-25, 2020 |

Saturday, April 25 2020
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, UT Sat April 25 just after 0100, via WRMI, RAE ATTW in English, and also in English closing at 0128 as ``lockdown edition #2``, so maybe the entire semihour was English. 0129 the way outdated ``Son-power Radio`` WRMI ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 5025, April 24 at 0541, R. Rebelde is S9 but just barely modulated. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11530, April 24 at 1849, S9+10 signal but just barely modulated, Qur`an? Dengê Welat expected, via France or maybe Pridnestrovye, and subject to Turkish blockage; but suspect the bigsig suppressing atop is the Cuban numbers transmitter which is supposedly not on 11530 now, but earlier and later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 11650, April 24 at 2055, S6-S7 open carrier, somewhat noisy; what`ll it be? 2058 RRI IS and 2100 opening Spanish via Tsiganeshti (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA [and non]. 11820.042, April 24 at 1818, for the first time this year, I think, decent S9/+10 signal from the HQS, sufficiently soporific music for a nap; a Ramadan gift? Always off-frequency+plus here; 2 minutes of pause from 1838 before resuming. // 11914.987 is always weaker, S4-S7, at 1845 April 24. ARS is still absent from A-20 HFCC info, but in B-19, both 500 kW from BSKSA Riyadh at 320 and 295 degrees respectively, with 320 closer to OKward, altho intended only for W Europe. Spans for both were 18-23 UT and probably still are. By 2053 recheck, however, 11820.042 has faded to S4-S6 and anyhow are now in W&M talk. Originally it was the best signal on band from beyond the Atlantic. So how about the other Sa`udis? 11745.002, April 24 at 1846, presumably the AFRTS of SA, Al-Azm for the forces attacking Yemen, music at S6-S8 with a fast SAH from USAGM in Chinese Mandarin, 250 kW, 70 degrees from KUWAIT; or vice versa. Not in B-19 HFCC, and classified as clandestine by WRTH 2020 on page 516 along with the next one: 11860, Republic of Yemen Radio, strangely enough, was not even registered in B-19, since it`s clandestine, but everyone thinx it`s also via Riyadh --- and totally inaudible here vs Cuban jamming and Radio Martí. Not even its off-frequency carrier as measured by Wolfgang Büschel, ``11859.965 kHz 14.57 UT on April 18`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 24 at 2247, checking VOT English via Bonaire SDR, Turkish music and just in time for YL sign-off claiming again this has been the 1230 broadcast on 15450! NOT. IS plays until 2353.7*, shux, no extra German today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2031 monitoring: confirmed first US SWBC, Friday April 24 at 2200 on WRMI 9955: Bonaire SDR hears it OK over Cuban jamming; Pardinho, Brasil better without jamming; while direct to here, only a JBA carrier under the jamming. Also confirmed UT Sat Apr 25 at 0130 on 3 x WRMI: 7780, poor with storm noise; 5010 better S9+10/20 but also storm noise; and 5850 VG S9+20/30 yet not enough to overcome all the storm noise. Blitzortung shows a heavy band of lightning from SW MO to NE TX, along the OK/AR border and the TX/LA border. Next: 0900 UT Saturday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1130 UT Saturday WRMI 9955 [may be jammed] to SSE 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315] 0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 and/or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [may be jammed] to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Dan Sheedy, Encinitas, CA, who sent a generous US$ cheque to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, April 24 at 2102, WBCQ in German, only fair S5-S8. The flat-earth wackadoodles of World`s Last Chance used to be in Arabic, but having moved that to a closer site Woofferton, have favored the Germans with three hours here from 1800 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Welcome back to John Carver with computer fixed, notes on WBCQ`s AAAWWW UT Saturday April 25 at 0000: ``Tonight's show started on time on 7490 and 5130. Allan and Angela in the studio. Show opens with a bit of talk about the Canadian shooter. Phone call at 0007 from Freddie. Talk about some of the old programs from the station that are contained in the archives. Phone call at 0015 from a new listener in Indiana asking for information about the station which quickly changed to a talk about cars. Phone call at 0036 from Ramsey which continued the car talk. Freddie called again at 0042 and the talk this time was about tractors. Reading of emails at 0055. Very quick prayer and off the air 0100. Have read most of the reports of AAWWW and the only other thing of interest was last week's show when Angela told her tale of being outside before the show and seeing sparks down the street. She went down to look and a tree limb had fallen into the "hydro" lines and they were arcing and sparking. Allan explained that they weren't called hydro lines down here in the States and Angela showed him a piece of charred tree limb she'd brought back home with her to show him. Allan called the power company and he got a robo call from the power company about half way through the show telling him that the problem had been fixed. John Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR) This report dispatched at 0210 UT April 25

![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CANADA. 248 kHz, April 23 at 0622 UT, ND beacon dash and WG, which is 1000 watts from WinnipeG; not often heard (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Not the only slogan in NRC AM Log for 570 in Yankton SD, ``Your 5-state neighbor`` --- tho who knows, it may also be uttered. Wikipedia agrees that Voice of the Midwest is the slogan of WNAX: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WNAX_(AM) Searching also leads to Voice of the Midwest as title of a 1953y book about WLW Cincinnati. I think only those east of Ohio could think of it as Midwest. ``Midwest`` is certainly an ill-defined term. One source shows all the states within a ND-KS-OH triangle. But SD and others can also be considered in the Great Plains, or North Central region. Certainly not OK, tho we are the only state with a Midwest City = OKC suburb. NRC DX News of April 14, AM Switch reported: ``Applications to extend existing STA received: 570 WNAX SD Yankton – Applies to extend STA, U1 5000/1250`` WNAX nominal parameters: 5000/5000 U2, i.e. ND daytime, direxionanl nighttime, majorly toward NNE with two minor southish lobes. Where`s KLIF Dallas? Twice as close. Only WNAX heard now on the E-W longwire which should be equally unfavorable for both. Both day and night patterns of KLIF are nullish toward here, but in the daytime it`s atop WNAX, always audible underneath via high-ground-conductivity path, and of course the only SD day signal arriving (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0318 UT April 24

Thursday, April 23 2020
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CHINA [non?]. 15110, April 22 at 1420, JBA Chinese with flutter, during an hour VOA Chinese is via Tinang, PHILIPPINES, but more likely CNR1 jammer. Nothing else like it on band, nor below 15000; and the Cubans on 15140 & 15230 are abnormally weak (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 711.00, April 23 at 0044, weak carrier hetting 710.00 stations; this time I DF and confirm it from SE/NW, i.e. one of the Radios Rebeldes, not NE/SW from Eurafrica. See also UNID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15436 & 15304 S8; 15240 & 15500 S6; 15176 S2 & 15566 S3; 15110 S2-S3 & 15632 trace, April 21 at 2139-2146, panoply of approx. spurblobs at approx. 64-66 kHz intervals up to fourth orders out of 15370 RHC which is S9+25. Totally unreadable in SSB, but somewhat in FM or AM, also with tone which seems like the usual F# above Cmiddle, tho not measured. Obviously the same transmitter which would do the same out of 13700 in the mornings, but not lately whenever checked almost daily. Welcome back! Fortunately none of these collide with any legit broadcasts, the 19m band is so vacant. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13740, April 21 at 2147, RHC Spanish suptorted at S8; 11850 is just barely modulated, more modest problems than of 15370. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6185, April 22 at 0135, XEPPM S9+10 but JBM if at all; ACI from 6180 Brasil. But an update via Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain to the WOR io group. ``Radio Educación, 6185, has changed its schedule again, as inform me Julián Santiago Díez de Bonilla, from Ciudad de México, new schedule: from 2200 to 1000 UTC, instead of 2000-0800. This station, in my opinion, has problems with the transmitter, past days strong carrier but very weak audio, sometimes barely audible or inaudible, today improved signal. Today, 21-04 heard here in Lugo, 0456-0640, strong carrier, very weak audio, comments and songs in Spanish. QRM from VoA on 6180 from 0500 to 0630. Heard via SDR Kiwi remote receiver in Brownsville, Texas, 0901-1000, 21-04, Mexican songs, ID at 0916: "Señal 1060 AM, 100.000 watts de potencia, Radio Educación, la señal cultural de México". At times fair and clear signal, but at times very weak, barely audible.`` Re MW 1060 XEEP: tho their IDs as heard even on SW always proclaim 100,000 watts, they are supposed to cut to only 20,000 at night and go direxional, I have no idea whichaway. But it certainly is no dominant signal here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 22 circa 2215, VP signal but VOT English appears to be on today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2030 monitoring: confirmed Wed Apr 22 at 2127 the 2100 on WBCQ 7490.2, JBA. Also confirmed UT Thu Apr 23 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, good via UTwente SDR in Holland. WOR 2031 should be ready by early UT Fri Apr 24, for first USSW broadcast Friday at 2200 on WRMI 9955. Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sent a generous US$ cheque to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5129.987, UT Wed April 22 at 0127, WBCQ with `Amateur Radio Roundtable`, S9+10/20 but heavy approaching storm noise level impossiblizes copy, other than interviewee sounds like a S Asian accent. Almost on-frequency as this transmitter has achieved lately. So is 6160v also on again, //? Apparently so as signature off-frequency 6159.917V has a JBA signal combined with high storm noise level to register S7-S9. Recheck 0222, 5130 still going but if it`s really the other WBCQ, JBA carrier in storm noise now measured down to 6159.703V (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 711.00, April 22 at 0225, two JBA carriers slightly apart beating, one or both Cuban or TA? Cursory check of 9-kHz TA frequencies vs storm noise level detects 828, 945, but interestingly, not 531, 549 nor 891, the usual Algerians (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0123 UT April 23

Glenn Hauser logs April 20-21, 2020 |
|
Tuesday, April 21 2020
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CANADA. 15034-USB, April 21 at 1731, CHR Trenton Military ID with own timecheck almost correct as 1730z, only one minute off instead of 61, which went on for months and months. Maybe fixed a while ago as I don`t often happen to tune across when this datum emit (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. Correxion: I neglected to add: ``Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba``, to: 711, April 20 at 0600, presumed off-frequency Radio Rebelde is still very much here making big het against legal 710 stations. Someone reported hearing RR audio on 711, but I never have (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. Correxion: I forgot to add: ``Something`s always wrong at RHC``, to: 6060 // 6100 // 6145, April 20 at 0550, all three RHCs are splattering plus/minus 10 kHz during music, e.g. QRMing 6050 ECUADOR, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6000, April 21 at 0607, RHC English is suptorted while the other three, 6060, 6100 and 6145 are well-modulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, April 21 at 0600, RNZI timesignal and news, S8-S9, good to hear them again, not only on the air but also propagating; the SSOB by far and virtually the OSOB except for a few JBA carriers. Even 9 MHz band is empty except for domestix WRMI, WEWN and WBCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.9, April 21 at 0604, VON again audible at S9-S6, weaker than usual. Would expect it to propagate from the tropix even when signals from Europe be outwiped, but this may be relevant for missing signals the night before, from https://spaceweather.com via Mike Terry to the WOR io group: ``The first geomagnetic storm of 2020 (category G1) took forecasters by surprise on April 20th when a CME hit Earth's magnetic field, sparking bright auroras over Canada and some northern-tier US states. The cause of the storm appears to be a faint slow-moving CME (coronal mass ejection) that left the sun on April 15th. This CME was not squarely Earth-directed, and forecasters did not think it was likely to hit our planet. Nevertheless, it apparently did. Solar wind data suggest that the CME sideswiped Earth with a snowplow-like buildup of plasma shortly after 0130 UT on April 20th`` Ron Howard, Asilomar State Beach near Monterey, California, also replies April 20: ``Hi Glenn, My last VON reception was briefly noted in tuning by on April 16, on 7254.94, at 0554, with African religious song, in English and vernacular, titled "In The Name Of Jesus"(?); 0557, start of their usual musical IS; strong signal. Ron`` And on April 21: ``VON, on 7254.94, checking 0623-0630; heard with fair-good signal; in vernacular; 0627, brief musical IS and sounded like COVID-19 PSA. Ron, California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1020 // 1580, April 21 at 1742 UT, two-thirds of the Triple-Play sport stations, KOKP Perry and KOKB Blackwell, respectively, are instead carrying what sound like a live event, probably from Oklahoma News Network, chief of Otoe-Missouri tribe and Gov. Stitt about to sign a ``gaming compact`` about sharing earnings from stupid gamblers between tribe and state, which has been a very contentious issue in OK, and presumably still so concerning several other tribes. A quick tune across the MW band finds *no* other stations carrying this, not even talk formats in OKC and Tulsa --- after all, that would pre-empt Rush on some of them! TPS has always had a secondary non-sports talk format, evidently expanded with nothing to lose (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 15205.055, April 21 at 1732, SBC with Qur`an, VP S4-S5 and stable frequency. But: 15434.986V, April 21 at 1734, SBC in Arabic other General Service not so far off-frequency but audibly wobbling as I measure it, slightly stronger S6-S9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830v, April 20 at 2227 check, no signal from VOT English to N America. I did not try April 19, but Wolfgang Bueschel found it absent also then: ``9830 kHz 22-23 UT TRT English - NOT ON AIR - tonight. Not 22, 2205, nor at 2215 UT, only co-channel CNR1 Beijing Chinese Mandarin sce, here in Western EUR at S=6-7 signal level``. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 245 kHz, April 21 at 0617 UT, ND beacon FS, which is 400 watts from Sioux Falls SD - Rock. Apparently the CV-19 outbreak there has not yet silenced it. Under spring storm conditions, logging any of these is difficult (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2030 monitoring: confirmed UT Tue Apr 21 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair-good via UTwente SDR, Holland. Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. 7780, UT Tue April 21 at 0138, WRMI playing World Music fill including own canned ID at 0141: instead of the unID ``pilot program`` of music I had heard on March 24 and April 7. So the pilot burned out? What was it? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800, UT Tue April 21 at 0610, S9+10 open carrier, no doubt WRMI on way late, but why? I had this before, but what day of week in case it`s regular? As yet unfound that log (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4980, April 21 at 0610, JBA carrier, presumed still the WRMI exciter-only test; and not even that much from 4990 if Suriname were active (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 2097.3-CW, April 21 at 0613, single-letter beacon A is audible barely vs storm noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1938 UT April 21
