DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS also updated:

** ALBANIA [non]. 7730, Thu May 5 at 0600, R. Tirana in English via
WRMI, good direct with feature on Eid+, last day of Ramadan. It seems
that only on UT Weds this is replaced by RFPI in Russian. Now there is
also a noise field surrounding, about 7710-7750.

** CUBA. 11670, May 6 at 0604, RHC English! S9+10 on unscheduled
frequency, while all the 6`s are OFF; 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165, and 5040
is in Spanish. Ivo Ivanov had already found English on 11670 & 13740
at 0507 May 4. Now 13740 is something else, but at 0609 I find RHC
English on 11880, S9+20/30 overmodulated, distorted and somewhat
breaking up. 11670 is supposed to be a Spanish-only frequency much
earlier in the day, and 11880 only at 22-24 including English at 23.
Something`s always wrong at RHC: but maybe they are experimenting with
higher bands for summer nights, which does make more sense
propagationally. The Other Side:

Castroism's fear of 'the masses' prompts it to shorten lines in Havana
--- So many hungry and angry people in one place, cursing the
exasperating lack of food, is a dangerous time bomb for any autocracy.
ROBERTO ÁLVAREZ QUIÑONES | Los Ángeles

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, May 6 at 1501, V of Martyrs Korea, Maldives
service with preacher in English, Bible story about some temple,
S9/+10 direct. Wish we could get a fix on its secret site, but would
be wasting my time trying TDOA for spurious ``most likelies``.
Meanwhile, RBA on 11825, music for Myanmar is only S4/S6. 11620 stays
in English a while longer, but by 1511 when I tune in via Coimbatore,
India remote, it`s the YL in Dhivehi, S9/+20, only slightly stronger
than I am getting her directly here, *way* off the target area. At
1524 it sounds like she utter the English term ``book banning``. 1529
switch to strumusic, and English sign-off just in time for `Laudeter
Iesus Christus` from weaker Vatican Arabic at *1530 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** ROMANIA. 7375, May 6 after 0300, NO signal of RRI English to N
America, as I follow my own advice to listen. That`s one of the
disabled transmitters but still on the sked; however, VG on 9850 into
UTwente, and likely into ENAm too, but I`m too busy to pay attention
to content (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, May 5 at 0501-0507, UR1 VG via WRMI with
English `Ukraine: Security Issue` for Day 70? of Russia`s war.

7730, May 6 at 0500.7-0506.2, YP1 via WRMI, English segment this time
by the OM announcer with heavy accent who speaks way too fast,
difficultizing comprehension (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2136 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.

Thanks this week for financial support from Robert W Gruska, Glendale
NY, who sent a PMO to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and
says: ``World of Radio has been one of the few programs available on
radio that I look forward to listening to week after week since first
listening to the broadcasts on WRNO back in the 1980s using a portable
multi-band radio that included shortwave. Thanks for your efforts!``

One may also contribute by check in US$ on a US bank to the PO Box.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com

First broadcasts of WOR 2137 confirmed, UT Friday May 6 at 0130 on
WRMIs: 7730 S9+15/20 into UTwente, but several words of closing
overridden by WRMI even tho I have allowed 3.5 seconds silence at end
of my file; VG o 5850 cirect.

Also confirmed Friday May 6 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S8/9+10 direct with
Cuban pulse jamming! But generally atop it and readable if you put up
with it. There is no excuse for jamming this time of day unless it``s
deliberately against me. Next: Friday 1815 on IRRSes, as above (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4790, May 6 at 0406 tune-in UTwente, WBCQ Radio Angela is
audible way off the back in Europe, but the uteblaaps are too, and
even louder there than in N America. The same sound with the noise
pitch descending slightly each time, but now they are 2 seconds long
rather than one, and are bursting every few seconds instead of exactly
3:00, 4:00 or 5:00 minutes apart! Very annoying. They register S9+15
while BCQ is only 7. Then I also hear some very weak CW in background,
seems like a repeating marker but uncopiable.

0418 I`ve switched to Maryland SDR and surprised to find WBCQ still on
air instead of quitting at `0410 After Midnight`. Now it`s a rock
music show with a DJ. I watch the uteblaaps on the waterfall, very
interesting display. They now make perfect squares, which I think
means they are 2 seconds long by 2 kHz wide. Reading the calibration,
as closely as I can tell, they are in three spots: 4782-4784,
4789-4791 = right on BCQ; and 4798-4800. Note these are asymmetrical.
Each burst is a combination of any two of them, seemingly at random:
left+right, left+mid, or mid+right.

The BCQ signal runs past 0430, but off at 0455 check, while the blaaps
are still running, now no longer square but elongated, i.e. almost 3
kHz wide, roughly: 4782-4785, 4788.5-4791.5, 4798-4801. 0532 recheck,
now they are back to 2 x 2. No doubt all this is significant if one
only knew what`s really going on such as Forex arbitrage info (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, May 4 at 1525, VOMK Maldives with usual YL
in Dhivehi, secret site S9 +5/20 into Coimbatore SDR; 1529 outro in
English finishes just in time for *1530 Vatican in Arabic on weaker
signal but no perceptible break (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, May 4 at 2020, REE to N America is back on; did not
check May 3 but was AWOL April 30-May 1-2. Wild wacko enthusiasm must
be about a stupid ballgame. 2157, sounds like game running really
late, to pre-empt token English? Nope, 2200 cut to timesignal and open
English. News concludes with COVID stats: over 104,000 dead so far in
Spain. 2209 feature is talk by Spanish-Mexican professor at Oxford
about her book ``Privacy is Power``, now published in English and
Spanish. That`s ``PRIH`` with a short I, tho her accent is otherwise
sorta American if not TA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 10000, May 4 at 1510, WWV currently filling this minute with
announcement about MARS cross-band operations May 14 for Armed Forces
Day [non], refers to a website (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2136 monitoring: zzz thru Wed 1000
on Unique Radio 5035 USB, and 1030 on WRMI 5850; anyone hear them?

Confirmed Wednesday May 4 at 2118 the 2100:21 on WBCQ 7490.1v, VP in
storm noise level, about S3 on indoor antenna between crashes. Finally
heard a couple words I could identify as part of this correct edition.
Checked an hour earlier when should have been on with another program,
nothing at all detected; typical summer service from a station which
stix itself on too-low frequencies. Local lightning discouraged me
from checking a remote further east. Next:

0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Thanks this week for financial support from Mike Lewis, Alexander

Fortunately, World of Radio is still with us. I am finally doing the
right thing and offering a contribution, and plan to do more in the
future.``

like to be known as VE1EJ; originally from Nova Scotia.

Next new WOR 2137 should be ready early UT Friday May 6 for first
broadcasts at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 & 7730 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7730, May 4 at 0457, WRMI playing Hawai`ian? music. Must
have lost feed from R. Svoboda: or hope funding has not run out. 0500
switch to Ukrainian Radio 1, 0501-0506 English `Ukraine: Security
Issue` for Day 69, 3 May, fast-talker caster this time. VG to Maryland
SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, May 4 at 0617, R. Vanuatu with island music, S9/S7
on 3 x 3945. Own rx still tuned here, must not have been turned on in
past 24 hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17520, 17540, 17650, 17680, 17720, 17865, May 4 at 0619,
only these JBA carriers on 16m, quite different from 24 hours earlier,
nightmiddle when I had Madagascar well on 17530, 17790. Could make
likely lookup-logs for each (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR [and non]. 16m now propagating in the nightmiddle! As
swelling sunspots combine with summery TE conditions: 17790, May 3 at
0615, just barely modulated music and talk at S6/S9, AWR French via
Talata, 0600-0630 daily per Aoki, 250 kW at 310 degrees per HFCC: high
MUF daypath no problem as far as W Africa, but MUF maintains across
the darkside; the SSOB shared with:

17530, May 3 at 0617 same level signal in English: BBC Talata at

German via Kashgar (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 15400+, May 3 at 0620, JBA signal slightly

** SAUDI ARABIA. 15380+, May 3 at 0619, JBA signal slightly offset
