Hauser
** CHINA. CNR1 WOOB jammer search, Sept 21 at 1415; only found JBA
carriers on 12880, 11100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 21 at 0330, via Brasil SDR, no signal tonight
from anonymous new missionary station, apparently still testing.
Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, agrees: ``New Colombian 4940 seems to be
out of air today --- COLOMBIA?, 4940, new religious station, checked
at 0445-0506, 21-09, no audio and no carrier detected`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** INDONESIA. Re my ``UNIDENTIFIED. 3325, Sept 20 at 1228, a
dekaminute after sunrise here, considerable S5-S7 carrier above S5
noise level, but no modible. Perhaps Ron Howard will have noted which
of Bougainville and Indonesia were active today, or both (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)`` --- Ron Howard replies:

``Hi Glenn, Sept 20 - Only VOI on 3325 today; at 1145, weak signal in
Chinese; at 1322, with "Indonesian Wonders," during their English
hour, but not very readable. The // 4749.95, via Cimanggis/Jakarta,
was not heard today due to CNR1 and Bangladesh QRM`` (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 11650, Sept 21 at 2125, travelog in Spanish with slight
accent, I guess Romanian, since amid an RRI transmission via
Tsiganeshti, and mentions Brasov; only S2-S3 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2052 monitoring: confirmed UT
Monday September 21 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct but with portable
antenna only, some deep fades.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 21 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, VG at Maine SDR,
also a few words apart via WRN webcast.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 21 at 0230 on WRMIs 5800 to SSE and 7780 to
NE, both equally VG S8-S9 at Rochester SDR.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 21 from 0300:26 on Area 51 (61?) via WBCQ
on new 6159.9 replacing 5130 as planned. I had started monitoring
6159.9 via Rochester remote at 0157 when JL was VG S8-S9; but by 0255
it had faded to JBA, at first thought off. So move to another SDR at
further skip distance, Alexandria VA, holding up to S9+25. By 0315 it
has faded there to S9 and noisy, so try the OKC SDR: only S6; then I
try the Edinburgh, Indiana one: better S8, AM Synch shows +36.8 Hz
carrier above tuned to 6159.90. At 0332 shortly after WOR has finished
and HRI has started, I tune in direct at S9/+10, and measure it at
6159.929. In any event 6 MHz band reception at this distance from
Maine is generally superior to 5 MHz, quite aside from any difference
in outpower there may well be. But 6 MHz also loses closer-in coverage
as the skip distance lengthens into the night.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 21 at 0330 on WRMI 9955: no good at Bonaire
or Rochester SDRs, JBA in Maine with pulse jamming also audible;
direct to here at 0336, however, is F-G S7-S8 with jamming hardly
audible.

Also confirmed Monday Sept 21 at 1801 on IRRS 7290 Bulgaria; recorded
via UTwente for later checking, so no timings to the second. Usual
open carrier came alive circa 1759 with tail of `Off the Hook` urging
pledges to WBAI, the Pacifica New York station. That`s a good leftish
media show I hadn`t heard in years and had no idea it would be on IRRS
for less than a minute. It`s on the WBAI skedgrid
https://www.wbai.org/schedule/
Wednesday Sept 23 at 7-8 pm EDT = 23-24 UT; but not on the incomplete?
program roster or podcast list. But it is here:
https://www.wbai.org/program/?program=76
leading to here:
https://www.2600.com/offthehook/

1800, quick sign-on by IRRS falsely claiming this is USB reduced
carrier, and three FSN headlines.

As for WOR from 1801, usual annoying splash from plus/minus 10 kHz
stations, even on medium bandwidth AMSynch; and still no 7291 warble.
Spotchex of recording find it generally OK and not truncated at the
end 1830, except circa 1817 bad sticking and stuttering. Since there
was complete silence interspersed, I hope this was an internet problem
out of, rather than into, UTwente. I can never be certain that every
WOR airing go out unscathed unless I listen live to every minute of
every one of them, a bit much. Thus I appreciate knowing from anyone
who happen to hear a problem. Next:

0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE [hope not chopped after 20 mins.]
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

** CHINA. 11100, Sept 20 at 1359, CNR1 jammer JBA, only one found in
very quick pre-1400* scan, no others WOOB in the 13s, 12s, 11s, 10s. I
continue to see list-logs of these elsewhere as if they were the
targeted Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA SOUTH. Partial check for clandestine jumparound frequency
carriers of VOH/VOP, Sept 20 at 1358: 3480, 3910, 3930, 3985, 4450
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 650, Sept 20 at 1202, Radio 65, XETNT, Los Mochis, Sinaloa
full ID/sign-on? Touting 200-meter tower, presumably for FM, and how
it exploits Hertzian waves. LSR now 1218, so still audible at 1222,
hymn in Spanish with tuba oompahs, rather than newscast since it`s
Sunday. OtherMexes still audible on 640, 700, 710, and:

730, Sept 20 at 1221, Parral mentioned in some kind of promotion, so
XEHB, Chihuahua, probably already on 50 kW day power (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1360, Sept 20 at 0453-0501 UT, toward end of another WNJC NJ
DX test, I listen closely tuned to 1361-USB for any sign of tones,
sweeps or Morse IDs, but nada. By 0500 I switch back to 1360 in time
to hear a Sioux City ID from KSCJ, bong and CBS news --- the dominant
station here and one of only three with as much night power as 5 kW,
altho direxional, the others residing in CT and OR (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 20 at 0601,
starting downward from 846 which must be the lone TP, from Kiritimati,
then upward, so here not in the order heard: 531, 549, 558(2), 576,
612*, 621(2), 639(2), 657, 666, 747, 774(2), 801, 837*, 846, 855(2),
891, 936, 1089, 1098(2), 1125(2), 1134(2), 1179, 1215(2), 1224,
1305(2), 1503, 1629***, 1710(2 - domestic). * = strongest; (2) at
least two carriers beating, at a wide variety of pitches or SAH rates,
but obvious when tuned 1 kHz below on USB. I`m surprised that no one
else seems to do this.

***the 1629 carrier is especially intriguing; usually I don`t even
bother to continue 9-kHz scans across the x-band for TAs, as WRTH
stops at 1611; but there are countless Europirates beyond its scope,
and presumably low-powered. For example, Roberto Pavanello, Italy
recently logged: ``1629 14/9 22.10 R. Toulouse - Dutch MX suff.``
In British DX Club Communication, Axel Röse in Neuss, Germany had a
couple of daytime logs in August on 1629 of ``Z[ender?] Monza, D``, I
guess meaning Dutch land, or Dutch language? rather than German.

A different story for Australia, tho it`s a bit too early yet; WRTH
page 88 shows eight legal LPs on 1629, maximum 400 watts, and these
sometimes do make it to the west coast DXers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, Sept 20 at
1152-1158 UT before LSR here of 1218 UT, on the E-W longwire so no
DFing, could be both E Asia and Down Under: 558, 594, 603, 612(2),
657, 693, 729, 738, 747(2), 756, 765, 774, 819, 873, 945, 972*, 1017,
1035, 1044, 1089, 1098(2), 1107, 1125, 1161, 1323. * = strongest,
likely Korea South. I really miss the top-MW 2850 signal now off from
Korea North. I do get carriers circa 1230 on 3250, 3320 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 3325, Sept 20 at 1228, a dekaminute after sunrise here,
considerable S5-S7 carrier above S5 noise level, but no modible.
Perhaps Ron Howard will have noted which of Bougainville and Indonesia
were active today, or both (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13855, Sept 20 at 1359, open carrier as heard yesterday
at 2113, likely intracontinental, now with trace of CRI under (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 20 at 0343 check on Bonaire SDR, no signal
from anonymous missionary station; yet there is something JBA on the
Warrenton MO SDR I had just retuned from 1860 for WOR check (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13806 & 13674, Sept 19 at 2114, FMish spurblobs with
unreadable audio but signature F# tone, out of RHC Spanish 13740 at
S9; 66 kHz intervals. Just traces at double distances, approx. 13608 &
13872. Something`s always wrong at RHC. But in the mornings, 13700 has
been clean for quite a while (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 5960-, UT Sun Sept 20 at 0024, The Mighty KBC
has heavy QRM from always-off-frequency-minus EAST TURKISTAN domestic
service, as heard by UTwente SDR making a LAH = low audible
heterodyne; but by the time it gets from GERMANY site to Maine SDR,
loud and clear (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6960-AM, Sept 20 at 0058, only pirate now with rock
music, 0059 unreadable YL announcement; only S1-S2. Perhaps
Ballsmacker Radio which was on this frequency last night, but much
stronger then. Several logs of BSR:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,71863.0.html
but lead to this last one, starting: ``This was NOT Ball Smacker. It
was a parody show by The FOX. You guys have to listen more carefully
to the IDs. The IDs were edited from originals. Neat trick to make a
deep male voice sound like a lady. ;-)) Foxhole Productions, in
conjunction with Sick Puppy Productions. COCK Smacker Radio at proTEIN
mail dot com. Theme was "RADIO". 6960 AM Time: 0044 IS (3x) to 0131*
CSR outro. [...] Hear the show on Internet Archive search. Lotsa
other goodies, too. 73 from the Foxhole Reynard`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2052 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
September 19 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, VG S9+20 into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Sun Sept 20 at 0316 already in progress at Hungary
item, on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO via nearby Warrenton SDR. Both
this and afternoon airing have some slight skipping, playback problem
or SDR problem? Tuned in direct at 0336 finds even stronger S9+20/30
and skipping also audible, finishing at 0336.8 so started early about
0307; next show, Ham-Sci also skipping. Next:

** U S A. (7490 webcast), UT Sun Sept 20 roughly 0007-0022 I catch
part of `AAAWWW` on WBCQ repeat that I skipped yesterday at same time.
Freddy is asking questions, so we get a bit more info about WHRI.
Complains he can`t find many views of that facility online, but WBCQ
will fix that once in charge. AW has visited Cypress Creek once, says
the facility was well-built originally for the Christian Scientists
(as WSHB); has three Diesel generators and as a peaking plant can sell
excess power back to the utility. Antennas are curtains capable of
handling 500 kW. About having been working on the WBCQ #1 transmitter
for 6? weeks, says he hopes it will not burn up again --- oh, that
one. It`s still confusing what`s #2 and what`s #3, and what number the
ex-WRMI one is or will be; and is that the original Wilkinson from
Radio Clarin, or not? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (5085 webcast), UT Sun Sept 20 at 0022, WTWW-2 has already
started TONITO in such music. This week are recordings performed by
John Ferguson, January 1995, at Paramount, Indianapolis, immediately
before that organ was dismantled and trucked off to storage, unknown
where. 0048 outro, Bob Heil has finally come up with a new program
name since he moved to Belleville IL, `Theatre Organ Under The Arch`
--- so we have to retire `TONITO` for Theatre Organ Not In The Ozarx`,
henceforth TOUTA. A different very noisy organ recording plays on
until 0052 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13855, Sept 19 at 2113, S5-S7 of open carrier/dead air,
much stronger than 13845 WWCR and 13840 RNZP. In our mornings CRI is
there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, Sat Sept 19 at 1457, no signal direct of
course from LRA36, nor at Brasil SDR by 1506, despite RAE special
postponed to this date, 1500-2200 UT; meanwhile, Manuel Méndez
Lugo, Spain, informed us: ``ANTARCTICA, 15476, LRA 36, Radio Nacional
Arcángel San Gabriel, Base Esperanza. According to a WhatsApp received
from the station operator, today Saturday there won't be program. The
operator has been in an Antarctic Chilean base for two weeks. When he
returns to Base Esperanza he will communicate when the station will be
on air again`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 340-MCW kHz, Sept 19 at 0630 UT, ND beacon dash and YY,
which is 500 watts from Mont-Joli, Quebec. I was tuned to 339-USB. And
no probably from weak local EI on 341 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11880, Sept 19 at 1501 UT, S9+10 of dead air from CRI English
relay; then, straining, a trace of JBM. Maybe will upbuild.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2052 monitoring: not confirmed Sat
Sept 19 at 1300 on WRMI 15770: JBA carrier only, not enough mod to
make out a note of my theme or a syllable of my voice. Next one had
not started by 1935, but VG S9+10 signal into Warrenton KiwiSDR;
but did just start at 1942.5:

** U S A. Regarding the late Justice Ginsburg being treated as if she
were a Christian: among the wall-to-wall TV coverage, the crowd
spontaneously gathered outside the SCOTUS building broke into hymn,
`Amazing Grace`. This is one of the best-known Christian hymns, not
ecumenical, Judeo-Christian, from its very origins in a conversion.
https://www.learnreligions.com/amazing-grace-701274
However, the original lyrix do not mention J.C. at all, and thus could
be taken as more generic. But is it ever sung in synagogues? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZUELA [non]. 600, VOA via R. Libertad, COLOMBIA: I have not
monitored since its première UT Sept 16, but Don Moore now reports
Sept 19:

``Colombia/Venezuela: There has been discussion in Cadena DX, the
Latin American Facebook group, on the VOA programs via Radio Libertad
600 kHz in Barranquilla, Colombia. Santiago San Gil in Barinas wrote
that normally Radio Libertad was received there with "acceptable
signals" but that since the programs began there has been significant
co-channel interference. Fernando Viloria in the coastal Venezuelan
state of Carabobo says he has been hearing an unlisted station calling
itself "Radio Verdad" and "La Emisora de la Alegría" on 600 kHz. The
station has not announced a location. Several DXers wrote of tuning
the Radio Libertad programs on the remote SDR in Bonaire. They report
it is putting in a good signal to Bonaire. (Don Moore)``

A great many Venezuelan radio stations have gone off the air, tnx to
government persecution and/or the economic situation. Was there ever a
600? Yes, first checking a WRTH 2014 at hand:

YVSW, 15 kW, R. Alto Llano, Sta Bárbara de Barinas. I wonder if SSG
remembers that one? In fact only one of two MW stations in that state
at that time.

YVSW also in WRTH 2005, when there was a second 600: YVQB, 10 kW,
Radio Sucre, Cumaná, Sucre, whose address was in a building called
Libertad.

In 2005 WRTH there were a number of stations around the country named
Radio Alegría, or Radio Fe y Alegría, probably a group or network. Do
not see any with Verdad in their names.

There may have been remnants of these outlets which could be pressed
into jamming disservice in short order; or any MW transmitter could
soon be retuned to 600. Connecting to a proper-wavelength antenna
could be quite another matter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 19 at 0245, good via TWR Bonaire SDR,
anonymous missionary station with nice tropical music seemingly
secular enough, but merely some relief as long-winded Spanish gospel
huxter resumes at 0250 citing Ezekiel XL et al. (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** EAST TURKISTAN [and non]. 9470, Sept 19 at 0122, American English
discussion, must be CRI, S7-S9 with flutter, and // 9580 much stronger
and steadier CUBA relay, of which 9470 is a few words ahead. Yes, it`s
via Kashgar this hour only, land of ChiCom imperialist persecution,
brainwashing/re-education of native Uyghurs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

I`m listening via a Rochester remote as on short notice I am just
getting ready for AAAWWW on WBCQs. It`s really too weak to make much
of, might have been better had I fished around other SDRs or even

better signal here than I am getting from WRMI 7780 after 0130. 0131.5
YL ID as Ballsmacker Radio, tenpins SFX; mostly music but periodic
IDs, 0143 something about ``good old - kHz AM``. Still going at 0205

** U S A. 7490, UT Sat Sept 19 at 0000, first monitoring webcast, WBCQ
has A&A conversing before the WTO theme plays for `AAAWWW`; almost
immediately interrupted by phone call from annoying Freddy, a good
excuse to tune out. Recheck at 0022, Freddy is just now being let go!
Whew. Allan then says he has been working on rebuilding #1
transmitter; the one donated by WRMI, just waiting for Tim Tron to
come up from Skowhegan and put the finishing tuneups on it. TT seems
putting off coming to Monticello, despite low COVID-19 rate there. I
think AW said or implied it`s the #3 transmitter which is currently on
7490, but also mentioned a #2. I wish we had a clear roster of all six
WBCQ SW transmitters, by number and which frequency they occupy. Has
the ex-WRMI unit hauled from FL last year, ever been on the air yet at
WBCQ? All except the 500 kW, i.e. ``classic WBCQ`` have to be rewired
for single-phase power. At 0030 A&A get into discussing conspiracy
theories, this week coming off a bit milder. Now I check the other
frequencies at Rochester remotes: 5130 is S7-S8; 3265 nothing; 6159.9
is S9; 7490 no signal! 9330 WLCR in Portuguese is S6-S7. ``Biden can`t
win since he`s partially demented``. O yeah? 0050 about an hour late,
word arrives that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died. On his best
behavior AW does not denounce her as a socialist/communist, but ``may
she be reunited with our lord and savior in heaven; RIP``. Wait a
minute, she`s Jewish! But so was AW, originally, so he should know the
difference. Before they finish at 0100, I check Alexandria VA SDR for
7490 and it`s OK there, S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6970-AM, Sept 19 at 0238, JBA carrier while I am still
getting Ballsmacker on much stronger 6960; another pirate? None
reported in HFU but is also a Sound of Hope frequency, so maybe CNR1
jamming but would have to be from far west China possibly to
propagate. Seems there has also been a mixing product reported here,
Cuba? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
