Glenn Hauser logs November 14-15, 2020 |

Sunday, November 15 2020
** CUBA. 13700, Nov 15 at 1444, RHC `En Contacto` at winter timing nominal 1435 Sunday, Arnie Coro`s voice is back so throat may no longer be sore unless this be an old rerun, during a ``QSL en el aire`` shoutout to some oyente; as usual, lickety-split pace difficultizing comprehension; he needs some lessons in proper radio-announcing technique. No spurs today. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15700, Nov 15 at 1555, CRI English relay is S9+10 but only a trace of modulation as likely for the entire 1500+ hour. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE [and non]. 21690, Nov 15 at 1537, JBA music, i.e. RFI Swahili this hour only --- great to have a bit of 13mb propagation anyway. And the only other signal, 21525 WRMI is a hefty S7-S9 with guitar music to Africa. I have been seeking the MUF after first finding several phoners on the 18 MHz hamband, but all weak and hard to catch IDs as they make no effort to foneticize slowly and clearly. Then from 1538 I try the 21 MHz hamband, which is propagating some more weak unID signals: 21415-AM, intermittent carrier, so a hAM? 21292-USB at 1538, QRZ with French/Canadian? accent, mentions DL3--, contact? 21281-USB at 1549 in English 21267-USB at 1550, English 21287-USB at 1552, English WWV reported: ``Solar-terrestrial indices for 14 November follow. Solar flux 80 and estimated planetary A-index 3. The estimated planetary K-index at 1500 UTC on 15 November was 0. No space weather storms were observed for the past 24 hours. No space weather storms are predicted for the next 24 hours`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY [and non]. Part of Kai Ludwig`s reply to my previous DW 15195 report: ``Concerning the IS-only transmission: It has been observed already a couple of times, and it could be worth to check if maybe the transmitters are turned on just every Saturday no matter what. Anyway this transmission is, as DW told on enquiry, explicitly booked only for the precise days when broadcasts are scheduled. When TDF fires it up on other days they simply burn electricity without getting any income from a customer for it. The days of "if it`s DW it can`t be direct from Germany" are over. Their provider for shortwave transmissions directly from Europe is again Media Broadcast, and in at least one season also the Nauen transmitters, once built for DW, were involved again. Kai`` The Nauen transmitters were built for RBI in Germany East; more added later post-DDR? Well, in B-20 there are still no Nauens for DW: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=B20&broadc=DWL Nor were there in A-20: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A20&broadc=DWL But FYI, besides ISS, 3.5 hpd via USAGM SAO TOME, and a bit via MADAGASCAR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 11769.894, Nov 15 at 1448, JBA carrier, presumed VON perpetually off-frequency-minus from every channel, but was not expecting it on air this early; often noted later in UT day, insufficiently. Aoki/NDXC and EiBi both ignore its signature offfrequenciness, showing it start at 1500 with Swahili. HFCC pretends VON is non-existent since stations must pay to participate (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6880-AM, Nov 14 at 2154, JBA music at S8 = noise level too, checked after this tip to the WOR iog: ``Pirate station TAMI FM is on 6880 AM with an SIO 444 signal here at 2128 UTC. https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74288.0.html Chris Smolinski, Black Cat Systems, Westminster, MD USA https://www.blackcatsystems.com`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11815.018, Nov 15 at 1454, music with fast SAH, no doubt VOT on typically inaccurate frequency vs understation NHK closer to 11815.000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: confirmed Saturday November 14 starting at 2045.8 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, VG via nearby Warrenton MO KiwiSDR. Also confirmed Sat Nov 14 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, JBA direct, despite not showing on the WRMI skedgrid, as also confirmed a week ago. Also confirmed UT Sun Nov 15 starting at 0437.8 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, via Warrenton SDR but now with crashes as a heavy storm is moving thru the St Louis area. Next: 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 61 to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0200 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [NEW] 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Andy Robins, Kalamazoo MI who with a US$ check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 says, ``You provide an invaluable service that deserves support!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Nov 15 at 0118, WTWW-2 starting `Theatre Organ Under the Arch`, featuring guest thorganist Jesse Crawford. Note shifted but highly variable time; unfortunately it`s now amid the `Encore` classical music hour on WRMI 5850, its best airing toward here to which I am primarily listening. I could/should? have recorded TOUTA off WTWW-2 $ tereo webcast for later, altho you never know whether it will turn out to be a rerun (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1931 UT November 15

Saturday, November 14 2020
** COLOMBIA? 4940, Nov 14 at 0415, anonymous mystery missionary station is audible via SDR Bonaire but only VP S4-S6, much worse than usual. It`s still JBA direct around 0645 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 5025, Nov 14 at 0650, Radio Rebelde is OFF instead of 24h. So is 5040 RHC. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 6000, Nov 14 at 0653, RHC English still on here, and on 6100 with hum, but 6145 is off. Something else is weakly on 9700; HFCC B20 shows Turkey at 04-07 and Japan at 05-09 [and BTW RNZI current sked shows 9700 never]. RHC`s new sked shows 9700 replacing 6145 by Nov 17 at 01-07 toward Chicago --- so there could be a 3-way collision between 05 and 07 --- way to go, frequency manager Arnie, refusing to coördinate in HFCC. Axually a 9 MHz frequency would be a good idea instead of everything to USA on 6/5 MHz, but more so in the summer, vs plummeting winter night MUFs. Might try 7 MHz for diversity. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13770 & 13630 approx., Nov 14 at 1433, RHC spurblobs are back, extremely distorted with F# tone especially when tuned in FM mode, out of 13700 transmitter which is clear itself, and while // 13740 is also still on but uninvolved. Weaker second-order spurs about 13839 and 13561, so displacement is approx. plus/minus 69.5 kHz and multiples. The lower one clashes with ISM pulsing noises always around 13560, i.e. RF ID scanners at stores or medical machines, or ?? Also a third-order trace about 13491 but not 13909. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY [non]. 15195, Sat Nov 14 at 1429, Deutsche Welle is seeking Brothers --- never mind Sistern? playing its nostalgic clanging IS which I haven`t heard on SW for ages, so what is about to sign-on? One thing for sure, if it`s DW it can`t be direct from Germany. Of course, it`s Hausa per HFCC, Saturdays only at 1425-1630, i.e. coverage of stupid ball games in a strange bilateral link between Germany and Nigeria important enough for SW broadcasts while most other languages have been abandoned! In fact the only other one left is Amharic. See http://www.hfcc.org/data/b20/B20DWLbyDWLver01-13oct2020.pdf But wait, the IS keeps on playing with no programming past 1430, 1437, 1457, 1502, 1542+ as the signal progressively weakens. Well, that sort of makes up for all the times I have not heard it for years! But seems not a cost-effective use of resources. That schedule shows the Hausa football service only applies to certain Saturdays, such as 31.10, 7.11 and 21.11, NOT today 14.11! But at least they hold the frequency from any intruders! Further dates it is supposed to air SBGs are: every week thru 20.03.21, except 26.12.20. And there is one //, 15350 not checked or noticed today, both Issoudun, FRANCE. DW TV, OTOH, does a credible job of world news coverage on a par with BBC World News America, via PBS, audiovisible here weekdays at 2200-2230 UT on OETA World channel 13.2, initiating a 2-hour strip followed by BBC, France 24 and NHK until 2400. But the DW IS is not to be heard there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, Sat Nov 14 at 1503, RNE manages to modulate unlike 24 hours ago, S9/+10 here to ME, while 9690 to NAm is only S3-S8! We get a much better signal off the back of the ME antenna, than off the front of the NAm one. It is always thus at the beginning of weekend transmissions across a fully-insolated path, when a higher OWF --- optimum working frequency --- trumps the lower frequency`s angle, something REE has never figured out. // 11940 to SAm is much weaker vs a local? blob, and no point in even checking 11685 to Af. Something`s always not right at Noblejas. O, the programming? After RNE IDs in passing, starts `Poesía Exterior` from REE. I wonder what became of the DX? program `Amigos de la Onda Corta` which is rarely about Short Wave, but any other media (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11815, Nov 14 at 1507, ME music at S7-S9, certainly not NHK which is scheduled here but thataway from 10 to 17 UT; rather VOT Turkish at 14-17 thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: again a zzz thru Sat 1300-1329 on WRMI 15770; anyone hear it? Next: [WA0RCR puts a local quality signal into the Warrenton MO KiwiSDR] 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE [confirmed Nov 7] 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 61 to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0200 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [NEW] 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Andy Robins, Kalamazoo MI who with a US$ check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 says, ``You provide an invaluable service that deserves support!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800, UT Sat Nov 14 at 0300, WRMI plays ``Yellow Rose of Texas`` alla marcia, i.e. the opening theme of Texas Radio SW program `Treasure Chest of TX mx` as soon introduced by Third Matey Susan robovoice, then Robert Kipp, Germany with upcoming playlist. This was supposed to be a one-time special originally aired exactly one week ago. But as often happens, suchthings stay programmed on the weekly automation schedule long afterwards if not deliberately removed. Kenneth Vito Zichi, MI, in the MARE Tipsheet logged it completely: :04 Willie Nelson “Remember the Alamo” :06 “Third Mate” ID + email address :07 Waylon Jennings “Ramblin’ Man” :09 George Strait “All My Ex’s are in Texas” :13 Bob Wills “New San Antonio Rose” :15 Gene Autry “Back in the Saddle Again” :18 Ernest Tubb “Walking the Floor Over You” :20 Jim Reeves “He’ll Have To Go” :23 Mac Davis “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” :26 Buck Owens “Act Naturally” :28 Tex Ritter “You Two Timed Me One Time Too Often” :31 “Capn’ Rick” OM computer voiced ID and email and into Buddy Holly “That’ll Be The Day” :33 Bob Luman “Lonely Women Make Good Lovers” :36 Kenny Rogers “The Gambler” :40 Kris Kristofferson “Me and Bobby McGee” :44 “Capn’ Rick” again w/WRMI specific ID and email, and into The Highwaymen “Big River” :46 Traveling Wilburys “End of the Line” :51 Roy Orbison “Oh, Pretty Woman” :54 Ernest Tubb “The Yellow Rose of Texas” :56 Third Mate windup of the “Treasure Chest of Texas Music” show w/ID and email etc. :57 Mitch Miller “The Yellow Rose of Texas” I was checking whether the Radio República relay via Okeechobee was still there as started a few weeks ago in addition to the France site until 0300 on 9490. It never appeared on the WRMI skedgrid as if to keep it hush-hush from the Cuban jammers. Anyhow it`s gone again, and in fact R.R. is now running until 0400 on 9490 with `Noticias al Cierre` at 0358, good over lite pulse jamming as heard via TWR Bonaire SDR, which in SAM mode also shows the Issoudun carrier is varying 22-39 Hz plus! Maybe the WRMI hour has shifted 60 minutes later? No, 5800 carrier stays on only until 0402*. I think I have figured it out now: as Europe went off DST, R.R. wanted to run until 0400 but 9490 was not available, so WRMI took it up temporarily. Now 9490 is available and used until 0400* so 5800 is not needed. Getting back to TRSW, Cap`n Ric replies: ``Ahoy Glenn, Jeff may leave this program in the lineup until month's end. 73 and Arrgghh.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1831 UT November 14

** AUSTRIA [and non]. 11955, Nov 13 at 1506, talk at S7-S9 with LAH = low audible het from another station on slightly different frequency. Only scheduled is AWR Turkish via Moosbrunn. Possibly KSDA Guam had not turned off promptly by 1500? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. 7665, Nov 13 at 1556, S8-S9 of Chinese, 5+1 timesignal at 1600 and continues, i.e. CNR1 jammer. Altho not thoroly searched, I had not noticed any on higher bands. Aoki shows 7665 victim is Sound of Hope relaying Radio Free Asia, 0300-1700 via Pingtung site, Taiwan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 395-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0712 UT, dash and YL, 1600-watt ND beacon from Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Last logged Sept 16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13740, Nov 13 at 1457, RHC is S9 but undermodulated, 1500 dead air and off; meanwhile, 13700 is VG S9+10 but no spurs. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15700, Nov 13 at 1553, CRI English relay is S9+10 but just barely modulated including some hum. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** JAPAN. 11630, Nov 13 at 2227, interview in Japanese, at S9+20, so strong an NHK relay? No, it`s direct from Yamata at 2100-2300 but 235 degrees oppositeward. Another curiosity, plenty big 300 kW signal off the back at 55 degrees thisaway, or really misaligned reverse off the front? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6957-USB, Nov 13 at 2219, UNIDENTIFIED S9 wild tones, no carrier but seems centered here, followed by normal-sounding SSTV and off 2220.6*. One other unID report of this: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74231.0.html who calls the sounds ``Electro dubstep music``, and also earlier: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74228.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA [and non]. 13710, Nov 13 at 1458, Riyadh has heavy CCI from something at tune-in, then clear S9/+10 beginning Qur`an. Nothing currently scheduled up to 1500 on 13710 in Aoki or EiBi, but in HFCC something in Kurdish via Moldova from BRB, which might well be wooden. In A-season however, CRI English via Kashgar, East Turkistan, land of cultural genocide, was heard on 13710 until 1457 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, Fri Nov 13 at 1505, and still 1546, open carrier dead air at S6-S9, likely REE, while 9690 has a JBA carrier, nothing on 11940 or 11685. 12030 for ME is supposed to start at 1500 weekdays, 1400 weekends. Something`s not right at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. NEW WORLD OF RADIO times I have just found on the System B skedgrid of WRMI: Friday 0130 and Tuesday 0200 both on 9955. Fri 0130 would be in addition to 5850 & 5010 on System F. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday November 14 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, VG S9/+10 into UTwente SDR. Next: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE [confirmed Nov 7] 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 61 to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0200 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW] 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Andy Robins, Kalamazoo MI who with a US$ check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 says, ``You provide an invaluable service that deserves support!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com ** U S A. 5950, Nov 13 at 0706, and at 2223 chex, NO signal from WRMI-5; it`s never very strong or loud here, but now must be off the air. Ivo Ivanov and Wolfgang Bueschel first noted its absence on Nov 11. NO mention of its absence or what is being done about it as of 2320 UT Nov 13 by WRMI on disgraced FB; unlike about the going and coming of 9395 WRMI-6. It seems 5950 disappeared about the same time 9395 resumed, coincidence? 5950 had been 24 hours, even in the daytime for short-range coverage on a 285 degree WNW azimuth, same as 7730 which is always much stronger here; was mostly TOMBS System C, or SMTV System J, but also a variety of breakouts for Systems D, F and G (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9955, Fri Nov 13 at 1511, this WRMI-3 is off, just some residual pulse jamming. For a while it was extended past 1500. Now skedgrid shows only on Sat & Sun until 1530 with `Full Gospel Hour`, i.e. Blalock the Blaster, but is he still on WRMI? WBCQ said that ``sweetheart`` quit over there, out of money (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490), UT Sat Nov 14 at 0103, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW`, declared to be ``live`` but never heard a YOOL date mentioned during following hour; he never does so at the outset. First recommends a 27-minute B&W film produced in 1947y by NBC with a tour of Rockefeller Center, ``Behind Your Radio Dial`` --- search that title on YouTube. The lo-fidelity of telco transmitter feed lines back then. Early TV; reminiscences of AHW`s father, who was brilliant --- too smart to be a politician. Again they are trying to avoid politix, ``keeping the powder dry``. Angela should have her own show to let loose on political rants, AHW is seriously considering if she can be persuaded. She erupts yelling a few times now, not good for the mikes nor for listenears. ``This just can`t happen!!!``, i.e. Biden instead of Trump. 0141 says on 7490 and 6160 now; neither checked here direct or on remotes. Explaining clear-channel distant MW propagation. 0153 reads a few emails, one about the ``sham-demic``, that all Democrat[ic] governors should be removed, to which AHW agrees. ``Still waiting to acquire WHRI; it is going to happen``. 0158 prayer and over (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Nov 13 at 1549, several phone hams on USB in the 18 MHz band, so I check 21 MHz whether it could be open? 21022 has a strong CW calling CQ way too fast, and some other digital sounds below 21100, but not a trace of any USB hams up to 21450 --- yet the band is open from somewhere; not paying attention? Are there any constant beacons on 14m like 10m? On 13m, 21525 WRMI is as usual a JBA carrier at best (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0228 UT November 14

Glenn Hauser logs November 12-13, 2020 |

Friday, November 13 2020
** COLOMBIA? 4940, Nov 13 at 0111 quick check via TWR Bonaire SDR, anonymous mystery missionary station is still going with gospel huxter in Spanish. At night I can always get at least a weak carrier here, and as late as 0700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ECUADOR [and non]. 1510.275v kHz, Nov 13, at 0117 I am looking for R. Monumental, Quito, which was reported last night by Mark Connelly, MA as off-frequency 1519.29 and thus an enhanced DX target. A few chex in OK have not detected a carrier or het yet, so how about the TWR Bonaire KiwiSDR? At first in SynchAM it shows a carrier as measured above but then loses out to locking onto 1510.0 signals. I briefly do hear some `Andean` music but can`t tell from which frequency. Waterfall also has a JBV just-barely-visible trace on 1512.0, Sa`udi Arabia on at this hour, unlike 1521?? At 0122 begins to dominate an American talkshow in English on 1510. No Middle- or South-American likely in English except maybe Hosanna Radio in Panama, but this unseems gospelic. Could it be WLAC Nashville? 50 kW night pattern has a notch toward Birmingham and Montgomery and beyond. But since last summer, WLAC has been ND day and night, but cut to quarter-power of 12.5 kW at night, which seems to be a standard FCC allowance when something is wrong with a night pattern. And I suppose it still is, for definite ID at 0129 as WLAC. Distance to Bonaire: 3251 km = 2020 statute miles = 1755 nautical miles; and most of the miles on the path are nautical, not thru Alabama, but Jaxonvil and Port-au-Prince (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 900, Nov 13 at 0137, bigsig in Spanish with ads, then ``Doble-U Radio, 96.9`` ID, so XEW just like in old times maybe with some southern enhancement. IRCA Log shows 250/250 kW but we long suspected it was underpowered; WRTH shows only 100 kW. For many years another XE was in the way and still in WRTH 2020, XEOK in Monterrey, but Log shows XEW is now the only Mexican on 900, as surely befits its super-power clear-channel status desde el centro (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 640, Nov 12 at 1326 UT, KWPN Moore is OFF. Hardly needed with more stupid sportstalk on several other OKC AM&FM stations, e.g. WKY 930 and WWLS 98.1 - former call of 640. Recheck at 0138 UT Nov 13, it is back on and a major obstacle to KFI or anything else. While off in the daytime, I should have sought WOI on groundwave or even skywave. BTW, I have not heard any IBOC noise from KWPN in a long time, altho still ``I`` in NRC AM Log 2020-2021. BTW2, it would be hard to find [m]any state[s] with no AM stations lower than 640 as in OK. With plenty of spare time, one could study pages 253-274 of the NRC AM Log. Starting at the end, I see that onesuch is WY, starting at 650 KGAB, which can barely make it here on a very quiet day (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A. 269-MCW kHz, Nov 12 at 0701 UT, ND beacon BEX, which is 25 watts from Bloomfield, Iowa, due south of Ottumwa, closer to Missouri. Believe it`s new here. 338-MCW kHz, Nov 12 at 0707 UT, NDB RYN, 400 watts from Tucson - Ryan AZ. 344-MCW kHz, Nov 12 at 0709 UT, NDB JA, 400 watts from Jaxonvil - Dinsmore, Florida; I was tuned to 342-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 2217-USB kHz, UT Thu Nov 12 at 0158 UT, surprise MARS net hosted by AAR6SM, other calls mentioned, usually just the suffixes, 6AD, 6DE, 6RL. The 2 MHz band is a vast wasteland, which could have been filled by MW fundamentals alleviating the terrible congestion below 1710. Now hardly anything is heard but WWV and the Canadian marine weather stations --- not even any MWDX harmonix for many months despite thousands of stations which could provide them. Beacon `A` has been gone from 2097.3 for months, but yesterday Harold Frodge in MI was hearing single-letter `I` on ``2097``, so could that be the same unknown site coming back, miskeying? Was it really 2097.3-CW? I don`t get any significant search hits on 2217 or AAR6SM; must be well-veiled. Anyone know where he be? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2060) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2059 monitoring: a couple of obvious mistakes in previous report of Nov 11 said Nov 12, fixed: WOR 2059 confirmed Wed Nov 11 from 2200:21 on WBCQ 7490+v, S9/+25, nice to hear such a good signal from this, only in the B-seasons. Also confirmed Wed Nov 11 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S9+20/30 on one radio here, S9+10/20 on another, over pulse jamming. WOR 2059 final repeat confirmed UT Thursday really November 12 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, VG S9+5/15 into UTwente SDR. Here, 5010 is S9/+10 with QRM from chirps about 5007, less than once a second and nothing to do with WWV 5000 which BTW is weakened; 5850 S9+30 VG solid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6905.9v, Nov 13 at 0112, no signal audible from ROCV into nearby Bonaire SDR; recheck 0213 still inaudible but waterfall has a visible trace of something. Last time I heard it, modulation was distorted, so maybe it crashed. Gone forever or not? Was always music, nothing political, so Maduro had no reason to crush it. [non] BTW, there is a little-noticed clandestine/opposition program for a long time on WRMI, `Acontecer Venezolano`. Current skedgrid shows it only twice: UT Fri at 0100-0115, UT Sun 0215-0230 both on 9955. BTW2, Mrs. White, Thaïs is from Venezuela, no doubt with family there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0408 UT November 13

Glenn Hauser logs November 11, 2020 |

Thursday, November 12 2020
** CANADA. 328-MCW kHz, Nov 11 at 0739 UT, ND beacon dash and YTL, which is 1000 watts from Big Trout Lake, Ontario, way north of Thunder Bay, last logged Oct 10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. Anomalies from RHC as I start tuning Nov 11 at 1433: spurblob circa 13838, which would be 2 x +69 kHz out of 13700 transmitter, but shortly disappears, and by the time I get to 13700 it is vacant too; and so is 13740. At 1436, I find 15140 also AWOL, 15230 on but undermodulated, 11760 JBA but quickly pops up to S9+10. At *1439, 13700 comes back on at S9, and simultaneously 13740 back too at S9+20: proof that both are from same site, Bauta or Bejucal, only one of which has suffered a power failure. Also on now are the FMish extremely distorted spurblobs out of 13700, with F# telltale tone, ~69 kHz intervals: primaries 13769V noticeably wobbling too, and 13631 S7-S9; second-orders 13562 & 13838; third-order JBA 13493; all still going at 1507 after 13740 is off. Tnx to Jean-Michel Aubier, France who just informed the WOR iog that RHC has finally posted new B20 skeds on its website by language, including English, but not effective until Tuesday November 17: http://www.radiohc.cu/en/de-interes/frecuencias New York 6060 Khz / 49 m 05:00 - 07:00 San Francisco 6100 Khz / 49 m 06:00 - 08:00 Chicago 15140 Khz / 19 m 20:00 - 21:00, 9700 Khz / 30 m 01:00 - 07:00 Washington 6000 Khz / 49 m 01:00 - 07:00, 06:00 - 08:00 Banda Tropical 5040 Khz / 60 m 24:00 - 01:00, 06:00 - 07:00 Africa 11880 Khz / 25 m 22:00 - 23:00 Note reactivation of 6060, NO 6145, NEW 9700, for Washington one frequency 6000 at overlapping times?? Africa service reactivated on a higher frequency for winter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SLOVENIA [and non]. 18125-USB, Nov 11 at 1510, S57DX calling CQ17 and making quick contacts with N American stations; also heard K3LLT et al. mentioned. S57DX is getting to be a regular here, when little else is in from Europe. 18133-USB, only other phone signal on band at first was W5JI working a JBA F1: W5JI, JOSEPH S DI MARE, JR, LAKELAND, FL 33803 USA, per QRZ.com. I figured he must be beyond the real too-near #5 call area. But this means WRMI with at least 100X the power would have been well heard if it were using any 16m band frequency, unlike 13m, 21525, never more than a JBA carrier here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 11 at 2322, VOT English via UTwente is VG S9+20 but with buzz which seems self-imposed rather than QRM; feature about the Ottoman Empire, yet another Wednesday with no `Letterbox`; more features and lots of music. Something`s always awry at Ankara, erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 383-MCW kHz, Nov 11 at 0731 UT, ND beacon CNP, which is 25 watts from Chappell, southwest Nebraska. Rarely heard, last logged March 18, 2020. 347-MCW kHz, Nov 11 at 0734 UT, NDB AFK, which is 25 watts from Nebraska City, NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2059 monitoring: altho on the WRMI skedgrid for Wed 1030 on 5850, confirmed NOT on the air but instead Brother Hystairical, by overnight recording here, and also tnx to Wolfgang Bueschel, Richard Langley and Dave Kenny for checking. This means none of the shown 10-11 UT programs on System F 5850 really exist, such as Wavescans, all of which have been removed for latest update of my DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html as well as WORLD OF RADIO schedule http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html For many months there have also appeared three WOR airings between 2100 and 2200 on WRMI System D but with NO frequencies! Another imaginairing is Wed 2100 on System F 7780. History of that from our http://www.angelfire.com/ok/worldofradio -- ``2020: On Wed Jan 1 & 8, another secret/not on schedule airing of WOR monitored at 2100 on WRMI 7780. Added to their schedule by Jan 15. Wed Mar 11 at 2100, WRMI deleted WOR on 7780 in favor of something else.`` Which was This `Is A Music Show`, and *still* confirmed there on Nov 11 contrary to skedgrid. WOR 2059 confirmed Wed Nov 12 from 2200:21 on WBCQ 7490+v, S9/+25, nice to hear such a good signal from this, only in the B-seasons. Also confirmed Wed Nov 12 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S9+20/30 on one radio here, S9+10/20 on another, over pulse jamming. Next and last: 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Chris Campbell, OH who along with a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com says: ``I just want you to know how much I appreciate all of your efforts and years of information. I also love tips for rational living!!!`` Contributions via PayPal not necessarily in US funds. One may also contribute via money order or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. New WOR 2060 should be ready by early UT Friday November 13 for first airings at 0130 on WRMIs 5010 & 5850 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2353 UT November 11
