![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** AUSTRIA [or non?]. Re my June 17 log on 5930, Wolfgang Bueschel replied:
``AUSTRIA/OMAN, BBC London Dari language service towards AFG noted on June 19th at 0030 UT program start. 5930even via ORS Moosbrunn Austria relay site, SELDOM SEEN from Moosbrunn: accompanied by two BUZZ strings either sideband, +/- 100, 200 Hertz BUZZ string distance visible and heard too. Annoying sound character. Birds chirp twitter like radioplay program for children heard in Dari language. S=9+15dB strength at 0030 UT noted in Liverpool, England backlobe. S=7-8 -80dBm fair backlobe signal in remote Perseus unit at AJ1L in Massachusetts US state east coast. S=9+20dB in remote Perseus at Athens Greece at 0038 UT. S=9+15dB in remote Perseus at Doha Qatar ME. also 6195even via ENC Encompass Digital Media Services, (ex Babcock) relay site at Al Seela OMA, S=9+20dB, weak and tiny signals at Greece, Germany, and Liverpool in England. 73 wb df5sx (June 19 at 00.40 UT)`` So what do you think about this? I cannot tell whether you doubt it`s really Moosbrunn, rather Oman; or it is Moosbrunn, but defective? (gh) ``In past decade ORF / ORS Vienna Moosbrunn never went odd fq, and also not happened at ex Babcock Al Seela Oman. Signal from Oman and UAE would be very low on Tulsa / Enid target in wild western Drumpfland. so I guess: there remains a question mark about the 5930 reception center origin on that day (wolfie, June 23)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** AUSTRIA. 9630+, June 23 at 0512, slightly off-frequency LAH from something, Aparecida, Brasil reactivated? But choral singing sounds too African. 0514 tonal African language talk interspersed, mentions Rwanda? Not on at 0620 recheck. Aoki/NDXC shows at 0500-0530 it`s AWR in Hausa via AUSTRIA. When I measured it, I got 9630.001 or .002, so I may have made a mistake vs hearing a LAH with BFO on 1-kHz stepping (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 12030, June 23 at 0626, S7-S9 of dead air, the SSOB as hardly any signals but JBA carriers are audible on the 25m band. At first thought maybe REE SPAIN testing, as Ivo has reported them sometimes doing that during off-hours; but no equivalent signals from anything in Europe. Aoki/NDXC shows at 0600-0629 it`s supposed to be BBC French via Pinheira. Was the entire semihour silent? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 9830, June 23 at 2200, no signal from VOT today; altho I do not get around to rechecking later in the hour, since at 2200 my first priority is BBC World News America on PBS/OETA --- but the feed *into* OETA keeps breaking up; so I switch to World channel, OETA-2, which runs France 24 news at same time, certainly would be worthwhile when not eclipsed by simulBBC, except F24 employs a lot of original languages so you may have to keep an eye on screen all the time for open captioning translation; even some French is so rapid and idiomatic that I can hardly follow it. And at 2230 it`s over to CBS and/or NBC TV News. If I can stay awake having missed an earlier naptime. But I digressed. Back at 2200 Monday I also quickchecked 9690 to find SPAIN on the air and starting English, but signal less solid than usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2039 monitoring: confirmed Monday June 22 from 1800.5 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria, via UTwente SDR; rough modulation and splash from 7280/7300 inevitable, but no interruptions noted in spotchex until finale at 1829.5, ``...standard dis---`` claimer cut off, into music fill. I tuned in about 1756 when Iran was already off but IRRS not yet on. IRRS cut on at *1758 big open carrier diminishing splash and 7291 RTTY but not eliminating them. 1759 JIP modulation of unknown report in progress about FB and AI systems; 1800 cut that off for simple IRRS ID, not full sign-on, right into quick FSN headlines from Washington, and WOR starting in about one semiminute. Also confirmed UT Tue June 23 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, VG at UTwente. Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Ron Howard, Monterey CA, who sent a generous contribution in memory of Brian Alexander, by check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com PayPal not necessarily in US funds as they will convert. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9395, UT Tue June 23 at 0247, WRMI with unknown far-right, far-Christian talk show interviewing an author. I put up with it hoping for some program ID, but none heard as it stopped at 0257.5 for Spanish hymn fill music, 0259.5 WRMI ID, 0300 another (same?) untitled talk show now about the precarious (?) financial situation of Wells Fargo. There is nothing to account for this on the WRMI skedgrids. Transmission sked shows 9395 with System F before 0300, then System C = Overcomer. BTW, what I was hearing not // Overcomer or any other WRMI. The individual System program grids do not show any such thing: 9395 not on System C until 0400; System F only on 5850 before 0300. System G does show 9395 starting at 0300 with Oldies. Sigh; sadly, just another example of totally contradictory, incomplete, outofdate WRMI scheduling info. That reminds me, I forgot again to check out the new show by that guy in Perú wanting contact with N American SWLs, `Quorum Radio`, UT Tuesday 0200-0300 on 5850, but it plays again (or a different episode?) UT Wednesday 0200-0300 on 5850. I`ve already set an ATS-909 alarum for 0158 and hope I can then remember what`s it for (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1656 UT June 23

![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** ANTARCTICA [non]. 9580, June 21 at 2130, JBA carrier from BBCWS winter solstice special to British Antarctic Survey --- one day late; this via ASCENSION our best chance here yet totally inadequate; no point in even checking the others, 5790 and 7360; nor am I by the computer to tune on remotes, but I know there will be plenty of reports on the WOR iogroup; and I know I can listen to it later online, as Richard Langley informs us:
``The program is now available for streaming from the BBC WS site https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/w3ct0vz4 What'll you'll notice, apart from the fact that it's in stereo, is there is a slightly different introduction by Cerys Matthews mentioning that unlike in the past when the program was only transmitted on shortwave, this year it is being shared with the BBC's global audience. The program went out twice in regular BBC WS steams and may have been aired in regular BBC WS shortwave transmissions on at least one of these occasions. Also, the "global" version of the program is only 26.5 minutes long so that it could fit in a normal broadcast, starting 2 minutes after the bottom of the hour to make room for the news summary and ending before the promo announcement and ID at the top of the hour. Somehow trimmed here and there? -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey before 1400* June 22, starting at 1355, so only concerning the fecund 13 MHz area: 13160 S4-S6; 13130 S5-S8; 13020 S3-S6; 12880 S5-S7; 12870 JBA carrier; 12800 S5-S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15730, June 21 at 2239, RHC weekly Sunday Esperanto confirmed here, weak and distorted via Colombia SDR; so announced sked is correct for this one only, not the other two. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11880, June 22 at 1505, CRI Plus, English relay is S9/+20. bit very undermodulated. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.940, June 22 at 0555, rather surprised to be hearing ``Hallelujah Chorus`` from Handel`s ``Messiah`` on VON! 0557.6 segué to usual drums and flute IS before Hausa hour. Back on this frequency after three nights on 9689.9v or neither (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, June 21 at 2240, VOT is on and so is NSS RTTY as quickchecked via Colombia SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2039 monitoring: confirmed UT Monday June 22 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, JBA here always weak, vs storm noise; VG at Maine SDR. Also on WRN satellite webcast. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Lacking any FM DX, I at least explore by 10-meter-band beacons where lower MUFs are operative: 28280-CW, June 21 at 1950, dash and DE K5AB EM01 BEACON CENTRAL TEXAS, this one inbooming rather than the usual struggle to hear a few watts or even less. 50 watts is a lot in this context, but sporadic E propagation must also be ideal. WJ5O roster shows: ``28.280 K5AB C GOLDTHWAITE, TEXAS # 50W, GP VERTICAL Power increase 5 May 16`` https://www.qrz.com/lookup/k5ab ``K5AB USA flag USA Primary only for: K5AB/B ALAN E BROWN, PO BOX 2, GOLDTHWAITE, TX 76844 USA Also, there are two CW propagation beacons that are projects of mine. 50.060 MHz and 28.280 MHz are their operating frequencies. The ten meter beacon has been on-the-air for 25 years. It is a personal accomplishment for me to build/construct something that serves others`` Goldthwaite is between Brownwood and Lampasas on US 84, which earlier traverses my old hometown of Santa Rosa NM. ``Like many other Texas communities, Goldthwaite was named for a railroad official, Joe C. Goldthwaite of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway, who conducted the auction of town lots.`` -- Wikipedia Only 553 km = 344 statute miles, city to Enid city. June 21 around 2000-2030 UT, I`m in the car hunting for sporadic E after DXMAPs showing favorable 88+ MHz MUFs, but zilch, so back to primary listening to two favorite programs on 90.1 KUCO-FM, `Wind & Rhythm` http://www.windandrhythm.com/ and `Feminine Fusion` https://exchange.prx.org/series/38388-feminine-fusion At 2130 time for pro-forma check of BBC Antarctic q.v. special, JBA carrier at best on 9580, so back to 10m dial: 28209-, June 21 at 2128, JBA beacon slightly on minus side. By 2138, fades up a bit on 28208.8, VVV N8PVL/B, alternating slow and fast WPM speeds -- I`ll take the slow! Viz.: ``28.2088 N8PVL I LIVONIA, MICHIGAN # 5W, VERTICAL new 12 Feb 2011`` ``N8PVL USA flag USA Primary only for: N8PVL/B Christopher E Francis, Livonia, MI 48154 USA`` Also trace of a beacon on 28271. And: 28290.8, June 21 at 2140, AR AR AR DE K5TLJ/B, Viz.: ``28.2908 K5TLJ C TRUMANN ARKANSAS # 5W, VERTICAL testing 10 Jan 12`` ``K5TLJ USA flag USA Terry L Jones, Trumann, AR 72472 USA`` Take a look at all the illustrations and animations on his QRZ page. https://www.qrz.com/lookup/k5tlj 666 km = 414 stmi, between Jonesboro and West Memphis (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A. 90.1-WBFM, June 22 before 0500 UT, I am trying to listen to WCPE classical music via KUCO-FM Edmond OK, on one of my household radios with rod antenna, but increasingly overcome by `Music from the Hearts of Space` on KHCC 90.1 Hutchinson KS --- another classical station but unfortunately often a CCI problem here between them. Then at 0500 KHCC is atop announcing ``ending our broadcast day`` along with 89.5 and 90.9 satellite stations, and off! at 0501* leaving KUCO in the clear. Imagine that --- in this day and age a radio station signing off at local midnight when it does not have to. https://www.radiokansas.com/schedule.cfm says ``All programming available online 24-hours per day. Our FM transmitters broadcast 5 to midnight`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1736 UT June 22

Sunday, June 21 2020
![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CUBA. 6088-6112, June 21 at 0553, RHC English is undermodulated on fundamental 6100, yet splashing out to this range, worst peaks around 6091 & 6109. Like sitting on an ice cream cone at Parque Coppelia. 6145 is also undermod. At 0554, 6000 is S9 of dead air, or trace of JB modulation? At 0551, 5040 still on in wrong language, Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11760, Sunday June 21 at 1503, RHC weekly Esperanto is starting, // distorted 15140, via SDR in Maine; also checking whether 15230 still on as it was just before 1500: no. Clueless announcer still utters wrong sked for own service: Sunday 0800 on 6100, 1600 on 11760 (only), 2230 on 15730. The first one is at 0700 UT during the 8 months of Yanquigusano-imposed DST; you never know which of the 6 MHz channels will stay on past 0700 for it, if any: last week June 14 it was 6145 per Wolfgang Bueschel. Third one may be correct, not confirmed lately (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA [and non]. 9689.9v, June 20 at 0603, VON again here instead of 7254.9v, S9/+10; so the ham QSO on 7253-LSB has no worries, between N0KBX in CO and K4NGW? in Oregon: N0KBX USA flag USA, Thomas Bullock, Wellington, CO 80549 but the other call does not check out. June 21 at 0600, VON not to be heard on either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28271-, CW, June 21 at 1748, only beacon JB audible is slightly below 28271, I think N1KO/B --- not on WJ5O beacon roster. But QRZ.com: ``N1KO USA flag USA Primary only for: N1KO/B, ADAM J M KERN, Annapolis, MD 21401`` There is one similar beacon supposed to be slightly higher: ``28.2723 N1KON C CENTERVILLE, INDIANA # 5W, VERTICAL testing 1 January 2010`` At 1752, only phone on 10m is a QSO on 28389.80-USB, a W9 with K4LJD (?) but does not sound like a YL listed. Of course am looking for clues of sporadic E MUF into the FM band; way above 100 MHz earlier on the east coast; now at 1924 it`s 120 MHz over EM12 TX/OK border area but too close to be useful here; maybe later. Meanwhile thanks to us, there is FM DX between Iowa and Tamaulipas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2039 monitoring; next: 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Ron Howard, Monterey CA, who sent a generous contribution in memory of Brian Alexander, by check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com PayPal not necessarily in US funds as they will convert. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1310, June 21 at 1116 UT, weather forecast in English from KCIG(??). Closest fuzzy call, also geographically, is KZIP Amarillo TX; trouble is, listed everywhere as Spanish - regional Mexican; have they flipped or just do wx in English anyway? This corporate site adds many other stations, both Spanish and English, but no further linx, no website of its own: https://www.hpr.network/texas Various streaming services will not connect to KZIP, but one shows it as a Farm station (in English), probably long outdated; or updated? https://radiostationnet.com/am/texas/KZIP/ including an off-air clip of English ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1932 UT June 21

![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** CHINA. 12880, June 20 at 1427, CNR1 jammer, S3-S6, and none higher into the 13s; also 12550 S6-S9; 11460 JBA carrier and none lower into the 10s. Probably would have been more before 1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 740 & 1170, June 21 at 0033 UT check, no surprise that Tulsa`s big two talk stations, KRMG and KFAQ are both broadcasting Trump`s pathetic speech live; don`t know about Tulsa TV stations, but major OKC ones are too: KFOR, KOCO, KWTV, and a little late, the Fox affil, KOKH. Meanwhile, as Drumpf started a few minutes earlier, both CNN and MSNBC were *not* --- rather an SPCA PSA and general commentary, altho with a split screen on Tulsa. There was no sign of our beloved Gov. Kevin Stitt, who had previously proudly proclaimed that he would be unmasked introducing the acting president (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, June 20 at 2201, VOT in English except for NO signal, while NSS RTTY prevails; recheck at 2248 via UTwente, nothing there either. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28236.5-CW, June 20 at 1858, JBA beacon, fading out and barely in. Monitoring over several minutes I never agglomerate the entire message, but enough portions: dits --- VVV --- W0KIZ/B --- COLORADO. Fits with the WJ5O master list: ``28.2365 WØKIZ C DENVER, COLORADO # 5W, 1/2 VERTICAL`` https://www.qrz.com/lookup/w0kiz ``W0KIZ USA flag USA, ROBERT E GOLD, CASTLE ROCK, CO 80104 USA The second picture is my 10 meter beacon on 28.2365 mhz running about 9 watts with 5 watts to the antenna on my barn. This beacon is never disconnected for lightning.`` The only other one is on 28209 at 1853+, but just too weak to copy anything. ![Hauser](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/wor.gif) ** OKLAHOMA. 103.7, June 19 at 1920 UT, a ``K-Love`` station with annoying pledge drive not noticed before as Wichita used to dominate:
``KYLK 103.7 OKEMAH OK 72.0 kW ERP, 282.0 m, 35-15-47 96-22-43 A588 K-Love Title & Artist Title & Artist Adult Hits CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN K-LOVE`` The K-Love empire infests the entire FM band, both commercial and ``non``, about 623 entries in the WTFDA FM database, many of them translators clogging up frequencies otherwise usable for more diversity, to say the least, if not DX (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, June 19 at 2202, VOT English is on but totally buried by the NSS Annapolis RTTY, nor can it be notched out (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490v), June 20 at 0001-0100, `AAAWWW` on WBCQ webcast, Allan is again shirtless it is so hot 84 degrees, Angela is so beautiful and he loves her so much; mostly discussion of current events as of Juneteenth. Angela raises her voice in opposition to some of them to the point of distortion. A says he is training A about all aspects of station operation, since she is co-owner and much younger than he is, so she can take over upon his demise, altho says he is in good health now. She would rather they both die simultaneously. Didn`t get much of the second half, and John Carver`s computer is down again, so if anyone heard anything significant technically or programmingly, let us know (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17775-, June 19 at 1753, KVOH is S9/+10 but just a trace of modulation. Are they aware of this? Why leave it on air at all? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 107.9-WBFM, June 19 at 1918 UT visiting Government Springs Park in Enid, a quick tunearound finds a solid signal from ``US 107.9 --- Great American Country``. Stormy cool weather and high humidity mean tropo enhancement even in the afternoon; Tulsa and Wichita-area signals are stronger than usual, but what`s this? ``KWLS 107.9 WINFIELD KS 50.0 kW ERP, 150 m HAAT, 37-15-46 96-53-42 COUNTRY US 107.9 - REAL AMERICAN COUNTRY`` Normally I don`t hear anything on 107.9 above OKC KRXO 107.7, but this is not far away just over the frontier. FCC FM Query shows: KWLS' first license was granted 10-20-1980. But it was originally on 105.5 as KWKS. In the meantime it has had two other calls, but KWLS since 12/31/07, but on what frequency? 107.9 was licensed as of 4/28/09. But has there been a power increase since then? Such info is not easily found at FCC, if at all. Searching old DX reports on KWLS, we find circa 2006 it was the call on the 1290 Pratt KS AM station, far on the other side of Wichita; now it`s part of the Steckline empire, including 1210 KGYN Guymon OK, and the imaginary(?) 1370 KGNO Dodge City KS. While 107.9 is in I also find dead air on 107.5, maybe somecar nearby`s RF feeder not offturned (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. The shifty local-area scratchnoiseblobs are still around, e.g. June 19 at 1448 some of the approx. ranges: 6890-6920, 7225-7290, 7583-7640, 9010-9050, 9390-9460, 9725-9750, i.e. roughly 360 kHz apart --- and this was on inside longwire due to nearby storming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0453 UT June 20
