Glenn Hauser logs August 28-29, 2022 |
|
Monday, August 29 2022
** BRAZIL. 11780, Aug 29 at 0125, no signal from RNA and consequently no spurs. Something`s blacked out at Brasília. Prop is fine as the JBA signal on 11815 from presumed RBC attests. 6180 RNA is also absent at 0153 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 1010, Aug 29 at 0615 UT, ``News-talk 10-10, Toronto`` ID, i.e. CFRB, the MW subsidiary of CFRX. Dominating the CCI; checking whether WJXL FL would rule again: no, even if still beaming west. On my same E/W longwire. CFRB major lobe at night goes NE; V minor lobes to SW, but looks like a notch between them thisaway. Maybe now CFRB is out of order; it is rare here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15230, Aug 29 at 0123, RHC S6/S7 and JBM, even suptorted when talk starts. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11930, Aug 29 at 0127, wall-of-noise jamming against nothing, a time of day Radio Martí is never active on this band. A lot more than the residual jamming after-hours, and furthermore there are several distinct carriers rather than just noise within 2 kHz above and below! Something`s always perilous at the persecuted DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 12000, Aug 29 at 0128, RHC English is JBA on 2 x 6000 which is S9+45 and also // 6165. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, Aug 29 at 0624, only RHC frequency still on, English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Aug 29 at 0617, VON is on at S7/S9 direct but undermodulated. 7254.933v, Aug 29 at 1737, VON S7 into Canary SDR in English vs storm crashes of S9, unusable. Also squealing. Presumably will improve somewhat if stay on until Chinablock at 1858. Lots of lightning in nearby occupied Western Sahara, across real Morocco and adjacent Algeria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6950 USB, Aug 29 at 0115, pirate with rock music, S9 vs HSNL in adjacent counties, still at 0142; 0143, ID ``Radio Free --`` something?, plugs www.normal.com or I bet it`s www.NORML.com because followed by mushroom-induced trip musing; ask reports to radiofree@protonmail.com - did not hear another word after free. Well, these say it`s Radio Forty8 via Mix Radio International: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,101226.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6935 USB, Aug 29 at 0115, pirate playing blues, S9 vs HSNL from adjacent counties, still at 0142; 0148 into SSTV followed maybe by ID, ``This is Midnight(?)`` something? These say it`s Pee Wee per SSTV ID card if not voice: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,101237.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 27184.4 AM, Aug 29 at 0117 UT, ``Old Time Rook `n` Roll`` song, then ``97-7 The Hawk`` ID, 0118 CarShield ad. Sounds in a barrel like mike picking up speaker elsewhere in the room, not a patch. And // 97.7 KHRK Hennessey but funxioning as an Enid market outlet relatively newly to block another DX channel. That`t the third one this local CB pirate has been caught relaying, after KOFM 103.1 and KVBN-LP 99.9. Random chex since my last report July 29 had not found any more activity until now, and when I doubt there be any skip for DX reception. Still going at 0157+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 9550, Mon Aug 29 at 0132, S9+30/45 of Big Band music with jazz piano, clarinet; 0139 announcement missed but // 7375 which are RRI French; then torch song, not in English? Alan Roe`s Music on Shortwave shows it`s `Les tubes du moment` among others at this hour: 0130-0145 su Romania Int FR Musique traditionnelle roumaine 7375 9550 0130-0145 mo Romania Int FR Les tubes du moment 7375 9550 0130-0145 tu Romania Int FR Les tubes du moment 7375 9550 0130-0145 we Romania Int FR Musique traditionnelle roumaine 7375 9550 0130-0145 th Romania Int FR Musique classique roumaine 7375 9550 0130-0145 sa Romania Int FR Programme musical 7375 9550 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UKRAINE [non]. (7730), Aug 27 circa 0500, UR1 via WRMI, `Ukraine: Security Issue`. 7+ minutes as copied later from: http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_26_08_22.mp3 for Aug 26, Day 184, including: 10 settlements under fire; UN humanitarian office out of touch with reality of Russian bombing of civilians; R deployed more than 400 aircraft, over 360 helicopters; Zap. nuclear power plant reconnected to grid; President Z says world one step away from nuclear catastrophe; clip of Amb. Jenkins; R ``filtration`` camps detaining Us in Donetsk region; Czechia wants to abolish simplified visa regime making it harder for Russians to go to EU countries. For Aug 27, Day 185 from: http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_27_08_22.mp3 including: Russia already lost more than 46.5 KIA, 200 helicopters, 3000 units of automotive equipment. R has set up temp labs to treat radiation if its military top brass be hit; R still killing peaceful civilians, e.g. in Zap. region, mother and two children; R still firing missiles at center of Kharkiv; U military repels R attack in Donbas; U exported first megaton of foodstuff by more than 40 ships from 3 ports to 15 countries; anti-Putin petition gained more than 1.8 megasignatures for tribunal; Hassidic pilgrims should refrain from visiting U this year for Rosh Hashana. Sept 25-27; last year more than 30K came. For Aug 28, Day 186 from: http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_28_08_22.mp3 including: large R military base destroyed; 250 R soldiers killed yesterday, >46,750 so far; decrease in aggressive rhetoric about tribunal; R intends to try fighters of Azov regiment defending Mariupol; 1.5 kilofamilies electricityless somewhere; volunteers in army corps unhealthy; conscription in Moscow and St. Pete; Germany prepared to aid U for years if necessary; Brit PM Johnson says West should double its support (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2153 monitoring: confirmed Sunday August 28 from 2000.8 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, Villa Estense, 1323 kHz only, after 2000 NEXUS/IBA plug not just ID; only QRM slight SAH. Also confirmed UT Monday August 29 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into Maryland SDR, vs occasional lite noise bursts. Also confirmed UT Monday August 29 from 0300.6 on WBCQ Area 51, 6159.9365, steady S9+5 into Maryland SDR. Next: 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html A noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, by money order or check on a US bank. Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7489.9v), Sun Aug 28 at 2300, WBCQ webcast plays fill music instead of Harry Shearer`s `Le Show`. I usually listen to it here, staying tuned after `UBMP`, at least when CBS TV `60 Minutes` be in summer repeats like now, and/or late due to stupid ballgames running over, like, now: why in the world don`t they have SBGs *start an hour earlier?! Anyhow there are plenty of other options. Per http://publicradiofan.com/cgibin/program.pl?programid=60 it`s on several PR stations at this very same hour: I click on the last one of them, WUWF, and there he goes! Beware tho, PRF is so huge that keeping everything uptodate is nigh impossible. Then thru that I link to show website, where one click gets the latest podcast going https://harryshearer.com/le-shows/august-28-2022/ which I employ to get the first part I had missed on `BCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, Aug 29 at 0121, S6/S7 of dead air, the SSOB way stronger than 15720 NZ, 15230 Cuba and hardly anything else. Has to be WRMI-9 failed to turn off at 2400*. Something`s odd at Okeechobee. Ahem, WOR playback could make use of that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5850, UT Mon Aug 29 at 0154, WRMI with `Viva Miami`, Jeff & Thaïs talking Spanish about Guadalajara and the Mexican DX Meeting at the end of July; apparently they did not attend. Richard Lemke also happened to hear this. Per skedgrid, VM at 0145 UT Mon is supposed to be on 5010 from System D, with something else on 5850 from System F. Just another contradixion there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9940, Aug 29 at 0138, gospel huxter in English, S9+50/55 WTWW blasting in: as soon as I mention not having heard 9940 lately, there it is; nothing about Ukraine. Is this #1 or #3 transmitter? Could be #1 as 5830 is absent; while #2 is rocking as usual on 5085 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, Aug 29 at 0618, RV still absent. Those closer or remotedly please check if they are on any frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1757 UT August 29 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs August 27-28, 2022 |

Sunday, August 28 2022
** ALGERIA [and non]. 17600, Aug 28 at 0042, S0/S2 algo M&W conversation, Arabic? Yes, a bit better signal switching from E/W loop to shortwire N/S. Got to be TDA which has been testing 17600 mostly in daytime, now overnight. About to declare it the OSOB until tuning down across Chinese on 17560 at S1/S2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. 9664.987, Aug 28 at 0614, RVM with S4/S6 music, notably very close to nominal 9665 lately! And fairly stable. Measured for the record (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 17560, Aug 28 at 0045, Chinese at S1/S2: VOA Philippines sked this hour so probably CNR1 jammer. JBA Chinese? on 17490, which would be CRI Beijing site in Cantonese. Nothing on the 18 MHz band nor circa 16 MHz, but 14920 at 0047, JBA fluttery, CNR1 jammer against Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13680, Aug 27 at 2215. RHC Spanish S6/S7 but suptorted = suppressed and distorted modulation; something`s always wrong at RHC. But 13740 is VG S9 with normal mod (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Sunday Aug 28 at 1412, RHC S9+10 but suptorted as `Mundo de la Filatelia` is starting. Still good on 13700 but spurblobless. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT [and non]. 9440, Aug 27 at 2118 into UTwente, no signal from R. Cairo in English, nor after 2200. When on, it`s horrible. 9900, Aug 27 at 2220 direct, S2/S5 with large wobble/warble of frequency, presumed R. Cairo Portuguese to Brasil as scheduled. But at 2236 into UTwente, steady no w/w but just barely modulated on 9899.957+. At 2300 a close-to-accurate timesignal is audible. Goes off at 2316* leaving a weaker signal close to 9900.000+. That would be the China/Taiwan radio war. Cairo PP service is scheduled 2215-2330; and next, 2330- in Arabic on 9885, but nothing heard there. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA [and non]. 7254.9+, Aug 28 at 0616, VON is on at S9/+10 but undermodulated. Wolfgang Büschel was simulmonitoring: ``7254.934, Today Sun Aug 28 only empty carrier on air, when checked at 0610 UT in NoAM, like Rochester-NY and Massachusetts remote SDR's. S=8 at peaks, regular S=/ signal these days at this hour. At 06-07 UT Hausa lang px is scheduled. Now around 0625 UT some WeAF folk mx instrument to be heard, BUT ONLY 5 % modulation level, I'd to switch off the AGC control and set the audio level manually. 73 wolfy df5sx https://www.wwdxc.de/swl.pdf`` How does one measure % modulation level on an SDR? Or is it just a guess by ear? 7254.933v, Aug 28 at 1700 into Canary SDR, trace at S3/S5 including noise level, hardly anything audible to ear, but must be VON on off-frequency. 1729 recheck however, no carrier there, so has disappeared leaving an even weaker one within 3 Hz of 7255.000 --- that would be until 1805, PBS Xizang, TIBET occupied by the ChiCom. 1755 recheck, VON is back on offset channel, and built up to S8/9+10 about Abuja traffic. Manuel Méndez, Spain, says it cut off abruptly, again, at 1813. I check at 1854: VON is *on again* with music peaking S9+15. 1857 ``more music at nbc.com``; wrapup, 1958 drum/flute IS just as that big low audible het hits from CRI Turkish, ruining both of them. Only occasional chex here since I`m mainly listening to `Pipedreams` on WYSU stream at 17-19 UT Sundays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6960 AM, Aug 28 at 0024 & 0038, pirate music JBA vs HSNL. JBA carrier at 0048. Many reports here say it`s WDOG: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,101164.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6925 USB, Aug 28 at 0025, pirate music and DJ, S7/S9 including HSNL; 0038 & 0048 chex, SSTV beepery. Including images, these say it`s Bad Dog but none later than 0020: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,101161.0.html Long after I quit, further 6925s reported as WWWW Radio and Two Dog (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830.018+, Aug 27 at 2200, VOT English is on with VG signal into UTwente, but the squealing transmitter, enough excuse to skip it today. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re: 395 kHz, NDB CA at Newton/Harvs KS: ``Hi Glenn - What about the following? The city of Newton is in Harvey County - named for James Madison Harvey (September 21, 1833 – April 15, 1894). He was a US senator from Kansas and fifth Governor of Kansas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_M._Harvey_(politician) Ron`` Howard, CA Makes as much sense as EI Enid being nicknamed ``Garfy`` for Garfield County, named for a president. ``Garfy`` is never heard in any other context among inhabitants. While looking that up at https://rxx.classaxe.com/en/rna/signals I also note the periods of the three on 341 kHz, in seconds to three decimal places, presumably the intervals between the start of one ID loop and start of the next one, regardless of the length of each MCW. Note that EI Enid and OIN Oberlin are almost the same, so it would take quite a while to go thru a complete cycle of total CCI and total alternation. Perhaps a mathematician can come up with the formula. Periods: EI 7.931, DNI 5.319, OIN 7.79 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2153 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday August 28 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S6/S9, the first few seconds marred by a noise burst which keeps happening, now after the Allen Graham Ecuador ID. Also confirmed UT Sunday August 28 at 0414 starting about an hour late on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+15/22 into nearby SDR with storm crashes. Next: 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html A noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, by money order or check on a US bank. Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330.185V, Aug 27 at 2222, WLCR/WBCQ is S9/+10 in English, and slightly wavering, furthest off-frequency yet. I`m no expert on transmitters or their drivers, but what I don`t get is why they don`t come with ``fine-tuning`` capability, just like receivers. Of course someop would still have to be responsible for keeping them zeroed. Or why not AFC = automatic frequency control? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330v, Aug 28 at 1415, WBCQ/WLCR is OFF. What`s the problem now? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7489.9, Aug 28 at 0020, the Akron guy from Summit Radio with his `Cruisin` the Decade` show on WBCQ. i.e. during one hour, 10 songs from each of the past 10 decades. He talx a lot about them too and really seems to know his subject, but limited to the narrow genre of US pop music, apparently. At 0032 says he`s on 20 stations, mostly AM & FM including CKLB-FM 101.9 in Yellowknife N[W]T, which WTFDA FM database shows as a 234-watt aboriginal station, ``The Voice of Denedeh`` with a country [sic] format; and also with long-range coverage via SW, Channel 292 in Germany, the WBCQ ``mega-transmitter`` [sic] in Maine, and WRMI; and greets some listeners who heard him on each. 0035 plays a song from 1982y and reaches the current decade by 0053 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Aug 28 at 0036 & 0054, still no `Theater Organ Under the Arch` as supposedly scheduled around 0030, rather a ham YL with Q&A such as, should I ever climb a tower alone? NO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9475, Aug 28 at 1545, NO signal from WTWW-1, once prime time for Sunday morning disservice by passé Pastor Pete Peters. So is this transmitter totally out of air, nor 5830 evenings? Nor have I run across WTWW on 9940 lately, whichever #transmitter that may have been, the ``Ukraine`` service ``Voice of Freedom``, which also sometimes used to be referred to on 5085 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU [non]. 11835, Aug 28 at 0618, JBA carrier, surely too weak to be RV X 3, so maybe China now? No harmonic JBA carrier on 7890 at all (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1953 UT August 28 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
