Glenn Hauser logs November 17-18, 2020 |

Wednesday, November 18 2020
** CANADA. 2749-USB, Nov 18 at 0253, synthyl in French with marine weather, S8 vs local noise level of S7. Dxinfocenter.ca shows the latest start among the four Canadian CG stations timesharing 2749 is 0240 from VCS-21, 1500 watts from Halifax, NS but not marked as bilingual. Nothing heard nor scheduled at this time from Newfoundland on 2598-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CAYMAN ISLANDS. Andy Robins replies to my non-log of CBC, appended to my yes-log of Puerto Rico beacon: ``Glenn: Regarding your question about the non-directional beacon CBC on 415 kHz on Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands: someone on the NDB List reflector posted a report last week stating that, per a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), this beacon has been "permanently withdrawn" from service. 73, Andy Robins, Kalamazoo, Michigan USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA? 4940, Nov 18 at 0224, good S9/+10 signal direct from anonymous mystery missionary station, gospel huxter in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. It`s Nov 17 into UT Nov 18, when RHC B-20 changes are finally supposed to go into effect, according to Arnie, but they have not. Did he tell the tri-site transmitter operators? Our monitoring: 15370, Nov 17 at 2202, tune in too late to hear the entire Spanish frequency announcement but I don`t expect it to be brand-new. VG here, nothing yet on new 13680 supposedly for Europe. Nothing on 11880 supposed to be revived this hour for English to Africa, nor on previously used 9720 or 7380. Opening `Revista Nuestra América` as scheduled Mon-Sat at 5-7 pm = 22 UT: at least they have the 5-hour winter time conversion correct. // 11800 is still on with plus/minus 10 JBA parasites, not 11850; 11760 is overmodulated; // 9535, 9640 not 9650, 5040, 13740. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Further: 5025, Nov 17 at 2235, R. Rebelde is on with OK mod after missing yesterday, S9+15/25 but less than 5040 RHC at S9+20/30. 6145, Nov 18 at 0109, RHC English is still here and still going by 0100; not on 9700 yet. 4765, Nov 18 at 0223, R. Progreso music is suptorted at S9+30. 5025, Nov 18 at 0225, R. Rebelde music is undermodulated at S9+10. Don`t you believe this version of the RHC schedule http://www.radiohc.cu/de-interes/programacion which is undated but with plenty of long-gone frequencies, like 17580, 17750, 17730, 9850, 9820, 9550, 6165, 6075, 11840; 11670 for English at 20-21 --- I can`t remember that ever in use. Under that heading I was looking for a *program* schedule with names and times of individual shows, but instead it is a far-outdated transmission schedule. Wake up, ``Webmaster: Reinier Clemente López``, if not also outdated. It does show after 22 UT, `Revista Nuestra América`, which quite some time ago replaced the broader more generic `Revista Informativa de la Tarde`. ``Our America`` --- is Cuba laying claim to the entire continent, infecting The Revolution everywhere, i.e. excluding the US of America? Or is this magazine restricted to info concerning the W Hemisphere only? If not, why call it that? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6970-AM, Nov 18 at 0210-0250+, S7-S8 JBA soft music, at first piano, no announcements thru 0221 at least, presumably a pirate; one other unID log of this at: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74437.0.html from someone in Alabama, ``unid 6970.07 am 0215 utc 18 Nov 20 « on: Today at 02:17 » Unid station with music signal that is weak. Thanks for the show. Signal has drifted to 6969.9 am « Last Edit: Today at 02:20 by blw »``. 6970 is also a 24-hour Sound of Hope + CNR1 jamming frequency, but format and propagation time are both to the contrary for both (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 11720, Nov 17 at 2233, steady S9+25 of dead air --- surely it`s VOA Grimesland, having failed to turn off at 2200*. It`s certainly not VN1 from Vietnam, only thing scheduled in HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.1v, Tue Nov 17 at 2205, WBCQ poor signal with `AAAWWW` playback filler; at 2226 reading an article about pioneer station WWJ Detroit. Oh2, this hour the pioneer hacker show `Off the Hook` from WBAI is on the websked; what happened? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WRMI observations: 5850, Nov 18 at 0229, is OFF, but back on with TOMBS when checked at 0410. At 0230, 5800 is nominal; 5950 is JBA presumed WRMI? But the 7s are ON, with 7780 nominally to the NE now a surprising S9+20 saying ``Bible Commentary`` but immediately into Brazuguese; 7730 and 7570 both S9+40 of BS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Reply to my hearing WJHR 15555-USB on air again: ``I had, indeed, been checking periodically. The last time was Sunday (15 November) at around 1630 UT. They weren't back on yet then. -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, Nov 18 at 0212 check, WRNO is gone again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9385, Nov 18 at 0257 check, S4-S6 of something presumably WEWN English too high/close/offbeam to propagate well; On Nov 16, Ivo Ivanov reported that this was OFF the air from 0000 to 0900, but I wonder if it was just not propagating all the way to Bulgaria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. Re 6906 ROCV off the air, Manuel Méndez, Spain got this communique from station in the form of a jpg, which I transcribe as non-punxuated but at least axentuated: ``COMUNICADO --- Estamos fuera de transmisión Por fallas técnicas y eléctricas pronto estaremos nuevamente al aire ING Gregorio Kina está trabajando para solucionar esta problemática`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Nov 18 at 0100-0108: 1575, 1548, 1539, 1521, 1503, 1341, 1314(2), 1305(2), *1215(2), 1179, 1152(2), 1134(2), 1107(2), 1098(2), 1053, 1044, 999, 981, 936(2), 909, *891, *882(2), 855(2), 837, 819, 801, 774(2), 747, 729, 711, 693, 684(2), 639(2), 621, 612, 585, 567 ?566.4?, 549, 531(2). I am making a point of surveying these now, altho an hour earlier would be even better, since recently some signals from ``China`` have been reported as far as Michigan on 1521 and 1098. With Sa`udi off 1521 after 2230v, any carrier there attracts attention. 1521 at 00-02 UT is CRI via Urumqi, East Turkistan, land of cultural genocide and ChiCom brainwashing of Uyghurs; in Russian with 500 kW, per EiBi, first hour to Siberia, second to Central Asia, so presumably with a beam change around 0100 more favorable to us. There is nothing else in Eurasia on 1521 over 10 kW. 1098 could be CNR-11 domestic service in Tibetan, 1000 kW from Golmud altho there are several lesser possibilities. * = strongest signals during this check; (2) = at least two carriers beating. 566.4 could be a local birdie; no such variants known. Of course I am unlikely to get any identifiable language audio, but I keep doing this to confirm that at least remnants of all these stations do penetrate so deep into North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) TIPS FOR RATIONAL LIVING ++++++++++++++++++++++++ JOHN OLIVER`S LAST WEEK TONIGHT --- 2020 finale until Feb 2021 Good riddance to 2020!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzlCOg-37hI Or chronologically, this comes first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMz_sTgoydQ (via gh) This report dispatched at 0459 UT November 18

Tuesday, November 17 2020
** CANADA. Not a single lightning strike anywhere in USA or Canada showing at Blitzortung, Nov 17 at 0645 UT, so should be a great low-noise night for beacon DX -- other than from local sources. So bandscanning away:
376-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0658 UT, dash and YAG is JBA, 40 watts from Fort Frances, Ontario. 366-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0701 UT, dash and YMW, 500 watts from Maniwaki, Quebec. 355-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0703 UT, dash and YWP, 200 watts from Webequie, how do you pronounce that?, Quebec, ``To Be Decommissioned 2021-02-25``. 351-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0705 UT, dash and YKQ, 500 watts from Fort Rupert - Waskaganish, Quebec; I`m tuned to 350-USB, hearing this at same time as next one, and nothing from RG 350 at WRWA OKC. 350-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0705 UT, dash and NY, 400 watts from eNderbY, British Columbia, mixing with YKQ-351 at different pitches but nothing from RG at WRWA OKC, normally owning 350. Beacons from BC are very rare here. Enderby is between Armstrong and Grindrod, just north of Vernon and Kelowna, east of Kamloops; from Enid, 2313 km = 1437 statute miles. Hurry up: ``To Be Decommissioned 2021-02-25`` 344-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0711 UT, dash and YC, 100 watts from Calgary, Alberta, yet another ``To Be Decommissioned 2021-02-25`` 335-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0713 UT, dash and YLD, 1000 watts from Chapleau, Ontario. 276-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0717 UT, dash and YEL, 200 watts from Elliott Lake, Ontario. I did skip past even others more often logged (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer search, Nov 17 from 1343: none WOOB in the 13s, 12s, until at 1350 JBA on 11170, 11150, 11120, 10160; 9 MHz not checked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6145, Nov 17 at 0649, RHC English still here, for the last time? S9+20 and undermodulated. Supposedly to be replaced by 9700 from this date, so maybe by UT Nov 18. Reactivated 6060 is not yet on either, and something weak not // on 9700. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Next to check: whether the ``Africa`` service in English really resume at 22-23 on 11880 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15230, Nov 17 at 1546, RHC is S7-S9 but JBM; while 15140 is S9+10 with sufficient modulation level but somewhat distorted, just as music show `Sonido Cubano` is ending; whew. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-AM, Nov 16 at 2257 algo JBA, unID pirate. Latest log in HFUnderground was almost 2 hours earlier, ``Pathetic President Radio``, so by now could be something else. https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74396.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. We are in marginal level-1 tropo enhancement Nov 17 at 15 UT per Hepburn map, so I hopefully bandscan for UHF/VHF DTVDX into my broken antenna on its bent mast: something Bad on RF 35, and RF 15 OKC is not decoding, implying DX QRM. W9WI.com is still out of order, FCC info not grabbing, displaying nothing but Canada on ch 35; but by state one can search OK for . Besides several low-power translators not very close, two most likelies are: K35MV-D, Concho near OKC, 15 kW I have seen before, the first-nations station; and KUOK Woodward, 8 kW Univision. It seems that the other resource, rabbitears.com cannot display stations in channel order! In case I could be getting Kansas or something. Primary ordering is by market size, OKC being #50 but somehow including other towns like Woodward. Tulsa, OTOH, #63 does not lead to any subcities with sublistings (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** PUERTO RICO. 391-MCW kHz, Nov 17 at 0605 UT, ND beacon DDP, which is 1000 watts from San Juan - Dorado. Not always audible, but when it is, a good sign of enhanced almost-LW propagation, my most distant `regular` beacon. [non] Which reminds me, in bandscans have not heard Cayman Islands in a long time, last logged Feb 23, so off the air? On 415 kHz, CBC Cayman Brac with 600 watts still listed at dxinfocentre.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Nov 16 at 2300, REE opening English since it`s Monday, Alison Hughes about the mysterious assassination of poet Federico Garcia Lorca at beginning of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 16 at 2256, VOT IS and English IDs, S9+10, so back in whack after missing this emission yesterday. Something`s not erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: From 1850 UT Mon Nov 16 I`m on 7290 via UTwente, conveniently listening elsewhere in the house via my RF feeder set to 92.1 MHz; big splash from adjacents at first, *1858.2 IRRS carrier on and quiet. The trouble is, my too-smart feeder turns itself off thinking there is nothing to feed, before IRRS modulates s/on or WOR can be heard, and before I can get back to bypass it. But by 1909 check, WOR is OK in progress. Missed checking UT Tue Nov 17 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, and even the new sked time of UT Tue Nov 17 at 0200 on WRMI 9955; did anyone hear them? Confirmed UT Tue Nov 17 at 0330 on WRMI 5800, VG into Bonaire SDR. Next: 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Andy Robins, Kalamazoo MI who with a US$ check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 says, ``You provide an invaluable service that deserves support!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Nov 16 at 2146, WRMI is on with TOMBS, which it had been doing all-day while 9395 was down, but supposedly now back in a break until 2200, filled only on webcast by music. // 15770 also TOMBS, while 9395 // 5800 with SMTV, 9455 with YWS or BB`s other radical political show (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15555-USB, Nov 17 at 1545, gospel huxter at S5, so WJHR Milton FL is back! Had been missing since hurricane hit the Panhandle, and I`ve been alert for it in daily bandscans across here; altho possibly was on earlier but just not propagating. First noted missing Sept 18 following Hurricane Sally, ``The SWBC station, or rather glorified ham rig, most likely to have been blown away by Hurricane Sally, Milton FL near Pensacola. Seldom audible anyway. It will be of note if anyone definitely hear it again`` to which Richard Langley replied Sept 26: ``WJHR typically comes in well here in NB. Nothing heard this afternoon (26 September) when checked at 1724 UT, not even a weak carrier. Power doesn't appear to be out at the 5920 Oak Manor Drive, Milton, residence according to Gulf Power, so perhaps the antenna tower is down or there is other station damage. Will continue to periodically check 15555 kHz -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 12302-USB, Nov 17 at 1345, 2-way in Spanish as I am not finding any CNR1 jammers around here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10925-USB, Nov 17 at 1352, 2-way in unID language, possibly Indonesian (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1827 UT November 17

Glenn Hauser logs November 15-16, 2020 |

Monday, November 16 2020
** COLOMBIA? 4940, Nov 16 at 0235, anonymous mystery missionary station, gospel huxter with dramatizations, S9/+10. In the NASWA Flashsheet, editor Mark Taylor in WI agrees it`s still anonymous:
``4940, 2359, 11/12-13/20. Hymn through ToH, 1 beep, man announcer with talk about faith then woman with news or actualities. No ID or program name noted at ToH`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [non]. 6125, Sun Nov 15 at 2324, no signal from R. Martí --- that`s because per HFCC it`s scheduled only M-F 2300-0400 Tue-Sat. Instead there is something in Chinese, i.e. CNR from SZG site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 9535, Nov 16 at 0656, JBA talk not // RHC English on 6 MHz frequencies, altho this RHC Spanish frequency has been known to run overtime in English. Instead it must be R. Ndarason International about to switch sites from Woofferton to Ascension. 9535, Nov 16 at 1555 however, now it is RHC, S9 but undermodulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15230, Nov 16 at 1524, RHC music is S9 but just barely modulated, while 15140 is S9 and merely undermodulated. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13566 & 13836 approx., Nov 16 at 1503, traces of spurblob second-order mixing products with F# tone, and much stronger first-orders about 13633 & 13768, i.e. about 67-68 kHz displacements and multiples, out of RHC 13700 which is undermodulated S7-S9. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY [non]. 9570, Nov 16 at 0657, African talk and music at S6-S9 until chopoff at 0659*. It`s DW in Hausa from 0630 via FRANCE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NICARAGUA. 8989-USB, Sun Nov 15 at 2325, fisher-preacher VP at S5, with applause? mixed with band noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6934.9-AM, Nov 15 at 2319, unID JBA carrier typically piratical; numerous reported previously in HFUnderground but none currently (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA [and non]. 7220, Nov 15 at 2318, RRI English now more audible under Vietnamese talk & music bed, totalling S9+30. Theoretically, per HFCC, RRI should dominate, 300 kW at 300 degrees from Galbeni altho not intended beyond UK, while CRI Vietnamese is 500 kW, 190 degrees from Xi`an toward Vietnam. 9415, Nov 15 at 2327, then I find CRI Vietnamese loud and clearer here, S9+35, which is 500 kW southward from Beijing site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SLOVENIA. 18118-USB, Nov 16 at 1521, S57DX calling CQ 17, fonetix alternating Sierra with Sugar for first letter, then working a K2. This ham continues to be the dominant Eurosig on 18 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Sun Nov 15 at 2323, no signal from VOT English to North America; something`s always erroneous at Emirler; nor yet any signal from Urumqi 5960-, East Turkistan, land of ChiCom brainwashing Uyghurs, nominally starting at *2330 per HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 392-MCW kHz, Nov 16 at 0712 UT, mixture of two 25-watt ND beacons at different pitches: FMZ, which is from Fairmont - Beklof, Nebraska [spelt backwards: Aksarben, Folkeb]; and ML, from Monroe, Louisiana. 385-MCW kHz, Nov 16 at 0714 UT, ND beacon HO, which is 200 watts from Hot Springs, Arkansas. I was tuned to 383-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: confirmed UT Monday November 16 on WRMI 7730, VG here. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 16 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, poor S7-S8 here but good S9+5 at UTwente Holland SDR where it`s aimed. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 16 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, S9+15 at UTw; and also S9+15 on 5800 into TWR Bonaire SDR where it`s aimed. Also almost synchro on WRN webcast. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 16 from 0402 on Area 51 webcast, while WBCQ 6159.9 is JBA direct; inaudible at closer SDRs in VA and NY, but good S9+15 into Warrenton MO SDR, which must be at ideal skip distance from Maine. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 16 at 0430 on WRMI 9955, good S8 into Bonaire SDR where it`s aimed, no jamming audible. Next: 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0200 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [NEW] 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Andy Robins, Kalamazoo MI who with a US$ check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 says, ``You provide an invaluable service that deserves support!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, Nov 15 at 2321, WRMI-5 is back on, presumed the weak S6-S9 in unknown English program, after several days absent since Nov 11. Still no mention of 5950 going & coming on disgraced FB of WRMI. This might have been helpful for hearing Ethiopia, but Manuel Méndez, Spain reports Nov 16: ``5950, Voice of Tigray Revolution, Addis Ababa, seems to be out of air for more than a week`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 3215, Nov 16 at 0020, gospel huxter, so WWRB has belatedly made its B-season QSY from 5050 for weekend-only emissions. By 0316 recheck has flipped to 3185, S9+20 more of same, not TOMBS. Probably from 0200 when WWCR-1 has dibs on 3215. It was not clear whether WWRB would use 3185 or 3195 this season, both registered. 3185 was once exclusively for Brother HyStairical, but now long gone as a WWRB client (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 5980, Nov 16 at 0647, mixture of PMS from 5935 and BS from 5890, audible under Cuban jamming, i.e. leapfrog mixing product of the two WWCRs landing here another 45 kHz beyond, where the Cubans cannot be too careful, lacking a Radio Martí to jam, just in case wacky yanqui religionists in English make inroads into Cuban SWLs who would not be listening to them in the clear on the fundamentals. Something`s always excessive at the Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6906v-RCUSB, Nov 16 at 0235, still no signal from ROCV into Bonaire SDR. Manuel Méndez, Spain, explains Nov 16: ``6906, R. O. C. V., El Tigre, seems to be out of the air for at least two days. I have contacted the station staff and they confirm that they are off de air due to a transmitter power failure`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Nov 16 from 0701, this time tuning down in LSB from +1 kHz above 9-kHz channels: 1215, 1107, 1089, 909, 882(2), 855(2), 837, 774(2), 756, 747, 693, 684, 621, 612, 558. At 0709 on 846, a fast beat between two, one of which would assumedly be TP from Kiritimati, but what else? Best W Europe can do at this late hour is 3 kW from Ireland, R. North; maybe a high-power E Asian already at this early hour like 250 kW Taiwan? or 2 kW from NZ barely around summer sunset? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1845 UT November 16

Glenn Hauser logs November 14-15, 2020 |

Sunday, November 15 2020
** CUBA. 13700, Nov 15 at 1444, RHC `En Contacto` at winter timing nominal 1435 Sunday, Arnie Coro`s voice is back so throat may no longer be sore unless this be an old rerun, during a ``QSL en el aire`` shoutout to some oyente; as usual, lickety-split pace difficultizing comprehension; he needs some lessons in proper radio-announcing technique. No spurs today. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15700, Nov 15 at 1555, CRI English relay is S9+10 but only a trace of modulation as likely for the entire 1500+ hour. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE [and non]. 21690, Nov 15 at 1537, JBA music, i.e. RFI Swahili this hour only --- great to have a bit of 13mb propagation anyway. And the only other signal, 21525 WRMI is a hefty S7-S9 with guitar music to Africa. I have been seeking the MUF after first finding several phoners on the 18 MHz hamband, but all weak and hard to catch IDs as they make no effort to foneticize slowly and clearly. Then from 1538 I try the 21 MHz hamband, which is propagating some more weak unID signals: 21415-AM, intermittent carrier, so a hAM? 21292-USB at 1538, QRZ with French/Canadian? accent, mentions DL3--, contact? 21281-USB at 1549 in English 21267-USB at 1550, English 21287-USB at 1552, English WWV reported: ``Solar-terrestrial indices for 14 November follow. Solar flux 80 and estimated planetary A-index 3. The estimated planetary K-index at 1500 UTC on 15 November was 0. No space weather storms were observed for the past 24 hours. No space weather storms are predicted for the next 24 hours`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY [and non]. Part of Kai Ludwig`s reply to my previous DW 15195 report: ``Concerning the IS-only transmission: It has been observed already a couple of times, and it could be worth to check if maybe the transmitters are turned on just every Saturday no matter what. Anyway this transmission is, as DW told on enquiry, explicitly booked only for the precise days when broadcasts are scheduled. When TDF fires it up on other days they simply burn electricity without getting any income from a customer for it. The days of "if it`s DW it can`t be direct from Germany" are over. Their provider for shortwave transmissions directly from Europe is again Media Broadcast, and in at least one season also the Nauen transmitters, once built for DW, were involved again. Kai`` The Nauen transmitters were built for RBI in Germany East; more added later post-DDR? Well, in B-20 there are still no Nauens for DW: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=B20&broadc=DWL Nor were there in A-20: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A20&broadc=DWL But FYI, besides ISS, 3.5 hpd via USAGM SAO TOME, and a bit via MADAGASCAR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 11769.894, Nov 15 at 1448, JBA carrier, presumed VON perpetually off-frequency-minus from every channel, but was not expecting it on air this early; often noted later in UT day, insufficiently. Aoki/NDXC and EiBi both ignore its signature offfrequenciness, showing it start at 1500 with Swahili. HFCC pretends VON is non-existent since stations must pay to participate (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6880-AM, Nov 14 at 2154, JBA music at S8 = noise level too, checked after this tip to the WOR iog: ``Pirate station TAMI FM is on 6880 AM with an SIO 444 signal here at 2128 UTC. https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74288.0.html Chris Smolinski, Black Cat Systems, Westminster, MD USA https://www.blackcatsystems.com`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11815.018, Nov 15 at 1454, music with fast SAH, no doubt VOT on typically inaccurate frequency vs understation NHK closer to 11815.000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: confirmed Saturday November 14 starting at 2045.8 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, VG via nearby Warrenton MO KiwiSDR. Also confirmed Sat Nov 14 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, JBA direct, despite not showing on the WRMI skedgrid, as also confirmed a week ago. Also confirmed UT Sun Nov 15 starting at 0437.8 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, via Warrenton SDR but now with crashes as a heavy storm is moving thru the St Louis area. Note shifted but highly variable time; unfortunately it`s now amid the `Encore` classical music hour on WRMI 5850, its best airing toward here to which I am primarily listening. I could/should? have recorded TOUTA off WTWW-2 $ tereo webcast for later, altho you never know whether it will turn out to be a rerun (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1931 UT November 15

Saturday, November 14 2020
** COLOMBIA? 4940, Nov 14 at 0415, anonymous mystery missionary station is audible via SDR Bonaire but only VP S4-S6, much worse than usual. It`s still JBA direct around 0645 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 5025, Nov 14 at 0650, Radio Rebelde is OFF instead of 24h. So is 5040 RHC. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 6000, Nov 14 at 0653, RHC English still on here, and on 6100 with hum, but 6145 is off. Something else is weakly on 9700; HFCC B20 shows Turkey at 04-07 and Japan at 05-09 [and BTW RNZI current sked shows 9700 never]. RHC`s new sked shows 9700 replacing 6145 by Nov 17 at 01-07 toward Chicago --- so there could be a 3-way collision between 05 and 07 --- way to go, frequency manager Arnie, refusing to coördinate in HFCC. Axually a 9 MHz frequency would be a good idea instead of everything to USA on 6/5 MHz, but more so in the summer, vs plummeting winter night MUFs. Might try 7 MHz for diversity. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13770 & 13630 approx., Nov 14 at 1433, RHC spurblobs are back, extremely distorted with F# tone especially when tuned in FM mode, out of 13700 transmitter which is clear itself, and while // 13740 is also still on but uninvolved. Weaker second-order spurs about 13839 and 13561, so displacement is approx. plus/minus 69.5 kHz and multiples. The lower one clashes with ISM pulsing noises always around 13560, i.e. RF ID scanners at stores or medical machines, or ?? Also a third-order trace about 13491 but not 13909. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY [non]. 15195, Sat Nov 14 at 1429, Deutsche Welle is seeking Brothers --- never mind Sistern? playing its nostalgic clanging IS which I haven`t heard on SW for ages, so what is about to sign-on? One thing for sure, if it`s DW it can`t be direct from Germany. Of course, it`s Hausa per HFCC, Saturdays only at 1425-1630, i.e. coverage of stupid ball games in a strange bilateral link between Germany and Nigeria important enough for SW broadcasts while most other languages have been abandoned! In fact the only other one left is Amharic. See http://www.hfcc.org/data/b20/B20DWLbyDWLver01-13oct2020.pdf But wait, the IS keeps on playing with no programming past 1430, 1437, 1457, 1502, 1542+ as the signal progressively weakens. Well, that sort of makes up for all the times I have not heard it for years! But seems not a cost-effective use of resources. That schedule shows the Hausa football service only applies to certain Saturdays, such as 31.10, 7.11 and 21.11, NOT today 14.11! But at least they hold the frequency from any intruders! Further dates it is supposed to air SBGs are: every week thru 20.03.21, except 26.12.20. And there is one //, 15350 not checked or noticed today, both Issoudun, FRANCE. DW TV, OTOH, does a credible job of world news coverage on a par with BBC World News America, via PBS, audiovisible here weekdays at 2200-2230 UT on OETA World channel 13.2, initiating a 2-hour strip followed by BBC, France 24 and NHK until 2400. But the DW IS is not to be heard there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, Sat Nov 14 at 1503, RNE manages to modulate unlike 24 hours ago, S9/+10 here to ME, while 9690 to NAm is only S3-S8! We get a much better signal off the back of the ME antenna, than off the front of the NAm one. It is always thus at the beginning of weekend transmissions across a fully-insolated path, when a higher OWF --- optimum working frequency --- trumps the lower frequency`s angle, something REE has never figured out. // 11940 to SAm is much weaker vs a local? blob, and no point in even checking 11685 to Af. Something`s always not right at Noblejas. O, the programming? After RNE IDs in passing, starts `Poesía Exterior` from REE. I wonder what became of the DX? program `Amigos de la Onda Corta` which is rarely about Short Wave, but any other media (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11815, Nov 14 at 1507, ME music at S7-S9, certainly not NHK which is scheduled here but thataway from 10 to 17 UT; rather VOT Turkish at 14-17 thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2060 monitoring: again a zzz thru Sat 1300-1329 on WRMI 15770; anyone hear it? Next: [WA0RCR puts a local quality signal into the Warrenton MO KiwiSDR] 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE [confirmed Nov 7] 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 61 to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0200 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [NEW] 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Andy Robins, Kalamazoo MI who with a US$ check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 says, ``You provide an invaluable service that deserves support!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800, UT Sat Nov 14 at 0300, WRMI plays ``Yellow Rose of Texas`` alla marcia, i.e. the opening theme of Texas Radio SW program `Treasure Chest of TX mx` as soon introduced by Third Matey Susan robovoice, then Robert Kipp, Germany with upcoming playlist. This was supposed to be a one-time special originally aired exactly one week ago. But as often happens, suchthings stay programmed on the weekly automation schedule long afterwards if not deliberately removed. Kenneth Vito Zichi, MI, in the MARE Tipsheet logged it completely: :04 Willie Nelson “Remember the Alamo” :06 “Third Mate” ID + email address :07 Waylon Jennings “Ramblin’ Man” :09 George Strait “All My Ex’s are in Texas” :13 Bob Wills “New San Antonio Rose” :15 Gene Autry “Back in the Saddle Again” :18 Ernest Tubb “Walking the Floor Over You” :20 Jim Reeves “He’ll Have To Go” :23 Mac Davis “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” :26 Buck Owens “Act Naturally” :28 Tex Ritter “You Two Timed Me One Time Too Often” :31 “Capn’ Rick” OM computer voiced ID and email and into Buddy Holly “That’ll Be The Day” :33 Bob Luman “Lonely Women Make Good Lovers” :36 Kenny Rogers “The Gambler” :40 Kris Kristofferson “Me and Bobby McGee” :44 “Capn’ Rick” again w/WRMI specific ID and email, and into The Highwaymen “Big River” :46 Traveling Wilburys “End of the Line” :51 Roy Orbison “Oh, Pretty Woman” :54 Ernest Tubb “The Yellow Rose of Texas” :56 Third Mate windup of the “Treasure Chest of Texas Music” show w/ID and email etc. :57 Mitch Miller “The Yellow Rose of Texas” I was checking whether the Radio República relay via Okeechobee was still there as started a few weeks ago in addition to the France site until 0300 on 9490. It never appeared on the WRMI skedgrid as if to keep it hush-hush from the Cuban jammers. Anyhow it`s gone again, and in fact R.R. is now running until 0400 on 9490 with `Noticias al Cierre` at 0358, good over lite pulse jamming as heard via TWR Bonaire SDR, which in SAM mode also shows the Issoudun carrier is varying 22-39 Hz plus! Maybe the WRMI hour has shifted 60 minutes later? No, 5800 carrier stays on only until 0402*. I think I have figured it out now: as Europe went off DST, R.R. wanted to run until 0400 but 9490 was not available, so WRMI took it up temporarily. Now 9490 is available and used until 0400* so 5800 is not needed. Getting back to TRSW, Cap`n Ric replies: ``Ahoy Glenn, Jeff may leave this program in the lineup until month's end. 73 and Arrgghh.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1831 UT November 14
