in Argentina for LRA36 -- nothing yet this Wednesday. Gary Pence is on
it too. Finally cuts on S9 at *1519, bit of music and standard canned
sign-on, with staff names; 1521 Esperanza themesong; 1525 clip of an
old OM radio voice and YL about SW in Argentina; 1529 tango?; 1531
``su cía`` ID, and intro as the *18th* program of the 2022 season, on
``dia de la radiodifusión``, which *was* 27 de agosto! So this is a
rerun of that date I already reported on, q.v. instead of anything
new.

1533 geo coörds; base was founded on 17 dic 1952. Temp `now` minus 17
C, feels like minus 22 with 70 kph winds from SE, gusting to 95;
sunset? time 17h27 local. 1535 contact info; 1538 rock song; 1540 date
27/8/1920 is being commemorated; 1545 song; 1547 ID with frequencies,
``Nacional, la Radio Pública, mentions Horacio Guarany, chatting with
music background; 1555 OM voice of some ham about setting up ham
station in Antarctica as an act of sovereignty [aha! Argentine
imperialism, hi]; 1605 ID with ``Nacional, nos une``, weather again;
how LRA36` first broadcasts were on 6030, later to 15476 ``AM`` [NOT];
1610 song; 1614 ID with staff names again like sign-on but this worx
as sign-off, since then off air at 1615* and still off past 1630

** BENIN [and non]. 1566 kHz, Sept 7 at 0343, JBA carrier; and an even
weaker one at 0345 on 1467. NW USA & SW Canada DXers have been
reporting these TWR transmitters around 0345. Despite the extreme
trans-continental distance, they can hear them, so I should too! WRTH
shows 200 kW on 1467 but 100 kW on 1566. The lower may have a less
favorable antenna pattern, eastward for Nigeria.

Schedules in WRTH are under SOUTH AFRICA! along with other TWR site
Swaziland. In language order it`s tough slogging, finding when these
are supposed to be on, in what. In WRTH it seems the only morning
entry for 1476 on page 494 is VARIOUS languages to Nigeria at
0315-0550 daily. Both also much more in local evenings, but
disregarded as never to be heard here afternoons. EiBi is much more
convenient:

gaisma.com shows Parakou sunrise currently at 0540 UT, and at less
than +10 degrees north, varies little over the year, as late as 0600
six months from now. When I`m getting Benins, at 0347 the only other
9/kHz carrier detected is 711, presumably 300 kW Morocco (Glenn

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Sept 7 at 2113, R. Cairo carrier at S5/S9 into
Maryland SDR with humwhine; 2115 timesginal about 10 seconds late and
extremely distorted music as English program modulation starts.

revives for receiving, and VON is on at 7255 minus 67/69 Hz =
7254.932v, S9+10 but hard to follow, noisy in English (Glenn Hauser,

Also confirmed Wednesday September 7 at 1056 when I happen to awaken,
the 1030 on WRMI 5850, VG direct.

NOT Confirmed Wed Sept 7 after 2100 on WBCQ 7490-, rather replaying
last week`s 2153! Since the first and only 7490 airing is 6 days after
produxion, now it`s almost 2 weeks old! Next:

** U S A. 9395, UT Wed Sept 7 at 0000, right after WOR on WRMI, `Jazz
from the Left` - coast, that is. Altho a recent upload, may be old
repeat or host is way out of touch: says he is Tuesday afternoon on
11580! A frequency WRMI abandoned years ago; in fact nothing anywhen
on the 11 or 13 MHz bands, why? These would provide good coverage at
least in daytimes, especially in seasons-B. He also mentions this time
but I think not as on 9395, but was it 7730, or 7780? Current sked
grid for JftL shows: Sat 2200 9395, Sun 0200 9395, Tue 2000 on System
B, but ``internet only`` instead of 9955; Wed 0000 9395 & 7780. DJ has

** VANUATU. 7932.05, Sept 7 at 0647, R. Vanuatu is JBA vs CODAR, not
detected on 11898+ at first but yes, JBA carrier at 0653. It seems
that frequency change time is now 0659/0700, after which Ron Howard
found a totally different set of harmonically related frequencies!

``Sept 7 - After 0659* UT on 7932 kHz, I went looking for Vanuatu. Not
on the usual frequencies. Found Radio Vanuatu on new 8620.22 kHz, as
measured on my old Eton E1 (am sure someone can get a more accurate
measurement!); mostly fair; // 4310.11 (poor) // 12930.33 (very
poor).

0705-0716 UT: News/sports in Bislama. 0731-0801: Interview in English
about investments (talking about gov't bonds, National Bank, low
interest rate loans, interest rates, "Investments not all in one
basket," etc.). 0802+: Speech in Bislama about domestic violence in
Vanuatu, violence against women, Vanuatu's Women Center, etc. Wonder

** PUERTO RICO. 27025 AM, Sept 6 at 2108, ``W in Puerto Rico``, leave
it to some CBer to prove that skip is viable, among hets from a few
others piling up on this most active channel. I have just been
bandscanning 10, 12, 15m hambands with NO phones, and not even beacons
on 28 MHz; and nothing but a weak unID bilingual on 18137 USB at 2112.
Assuming he is really in PR; also has some serial number in a CB DX
group. Meanwhile SPAIN inbooms on 17855 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

of 4 at 2100, OSOB except for a much weaker 17600 ALGERIA. Since it`s

air at 2342* when the sloppyrator woke up; something`s always

** UKRAINE. (7730), presumed still at 0500, Sept 6, UR1 via WRMI,

Grimesland warming up for 2130 Bambara M-F, OSOB by far. What a waste?

to; and this of course is directly off the back, forward aim being W

have run across it at various other times, but much more interesting
when it`s absent. OK, OK, I happen to notice 9330.1v is on, Sept 6 at
2126 in English, S9+20 but with splatter from 9350 WWCR, a measly only
100 kW whose rhombic achieves blasting S9+60! here, not even aimed

** VANUATU. 7932.056, Sept 6 at 0612, NEW FREQUENCY for R. Vanuatu,
JBA music and talk vs CODAR. Therefore the fundamental 3945 which used
to double on 7890, must have shifted to 3966! May have been there for
a while since much better heard X3 on 11835 has been missing. Many tnx

Back to gh myself: 11898.086, Sept 6 at 0608, JBA carrier, presumed RV
3 x 3966.03 --- this is *much* weaker than it used to be on 11835.
First I had a very slightly stronger JBA carrier on 11897.538, no idea
what, could be local birdie. After that, I made 7932.056 log.

Note that 11895 is normally dominated by CRI English via EAST
TURKISTAN, std denunciation, at 05-09, but not much from that tonight,
with higher-latitude paths degraded. Nothing around 15864 either.

Before seeing my 11898+ report above, Ron Howard posted: ``VANUATU.
7932, Radio Vanuatu, 0535-0659* UT Sept 6. Again being heard, but on
this new frequency; seems this must be the fundamental/primary
frequency (*not a harmonic*), as no carrier heard on 3966 nor 11898;
CODAR QRM, as also reported by others. After 0659, I couldn't find
them anywhere (2485, 3945, 5040, 7260, etc.). Here are a few
highlights (in general they played a lot of nice island music!):

0555-0600: Usual series of PSAs, commercial announcements, etc.
0600-0603: News in Bislama; unreadable.

``Spanish-only`` channel overtime, S9+10 but distorted. Other English

** ROMANIA [and non]. 7375, Sept 5 at 0037, RRI English with Cuban
pulse jamming. It is extremely irresponsible to schedule your own
broadcast on any frequency ever, at some other hour, or at some other
season, occupied by Radio Martí, for it is then subject to collateral
damage from irresponsible Cuban jamming, even if the HFCC
registrations imply it be clear!!! RRI also on // 9550 but weaker; and
that has some INTRUDING 2-way on 9550.5 USB. EiBi shows RRI at 00-01
on 7375 only, not caught up with reactivation of the other
Tsiganeshti, while Aoki shows both (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Monday September 5 at 2200 REE token English achieves
all four frequencies into Maryland SDR. This one is S9/+15; 11940
S7/S9, 15520 S5/S7, 11670 S3/S5, as apropos target-wise. The only
other 16m signal on the H2Ofall is a weak 17600, obviously Algeria.

Justin Coe says this show will intro the new third person in the
English sexion, Hélena Rigobert [sp? sounds like but never spelt out].
She gets to do her first broadcast as the sports bit at 2204 ending
the news. 2205.6 music and feature: Justin says EE has been a twofer
since 6/21 when Alison Hughes retired [I think Amy Egan must have
started about then, or a bit earlier?] H.R. is a Catalan from
Barcelona. Some music breaks for one of her favorites, a boogie-woogie
pianist. They discuss Madrid, cable cars, etc. 2214, ``Mishu`` is a
Korean name for any cat and it`s mixed up with the U State of Missouri
[or Mizzou?]. Korean? O, part of her background is having spent time
in P/Busan, Korea South at an English-language radio station for
expats and Koreans learning English, BeFM, befm.or.kr [WTFK? 90.5 &
103.3: https://befm.or.kr/main.php?lang=eng - bilingual homepage]. She
did not perfect her Korean, but after she went back to Spain, still
filed live reports for their morning show causing her to stay up till
3 am. 2219 tune `The Balearic Shuffle` - she has been to four of the
islands, Justin to only two. Short flight from Barcelona; several
hours by ferry if you take your car and stay overnight. Then she was
working for Radio 4, the mostly-Catalan network. 2225 a final tune,
`Apocalypse Boogie`. It was never explained how and why she speaks
English - well, with a slight accent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

carefully pronounced ``Esta es la Voz de Türkiye``, no longer allowed

rather than English ``to`` N America; something`s always erroneous at
Emirler. Over to Noblejas --- but 2230 recheck, now VOT is on having
started late, S9/+10 and .002 kHz plus, soon intro apparent new
feature, `New Day, New [illegible]`, about climate change.

Rechecked at 2324, oh2, it`s still on +.003 kHz with extraneous German
program, familiar theme of `Feeling Supreme` but I can`t make out the
title auf Deutsch; Türkiyeisch accent doesn`t help. Until the outro at
2332: `Gesund-Leben`, equivalent to the subtitle auf Englisch. 2335,
`Wussten Sie das?` = `DYKT?`. Immer etwas irrtümlich zu Emirler. I
wonder if dozens of languages present the same program segments in

the long-running 24 hour pirate carrying `Fuerza de Paz` missionary
programming, which I rarely bother to log. Shortly after it appeared,
we got a TDOA to the same area which Rafael Rodríguez, Colombia now
reports, G.C. 7.20 north, 69.00 west, in SW Venezuela near the
Colombian border:

``Greetings from Colombia, Thanks to the activation of a KiwiSDR in
the town of Facatativa, very close to Bogotá; I can perform a
radiolocation of the signal in 4940 kHz through the TDoA function that
these receivers have. I do it through the kiwis located in Bonaire,
Boavista and Facatativa. I attach the image with the result. Although
this is not conclusive, it reaffirms my theory that the signal
originates in Venezuela according to the image from Estado Apure.

Arauca with 1 kW, but keyed as DC26) since RRR himself is QSL manager
with a mailing address in the capital district. It seems to me its
ambiguity, no callsign or known license to one country or another,
qualifies it as a PIRATE (not Clandestine), but seldom acknowledged as
such, e.g. not reported in Free Radio Weekly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
