Glenn Hauser logs September 12-13, 2022  View Printable Version
Tuesday, September 13 2022

Logs
** EGYPT [non]. 9439.995, Sept 12 at 2203, NO signal from R. Cairo in
English into UTwente, just that heavy loud clicking which must be
something else. 9900v, which sometimes tries to carry Portuguese
service, is also AWOL at 2255 check into UTwente, rather just Chinese.
Something`s amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27184.5 AM, Sept 12 at 2150 UT, local Enid CB pirate is
still relaying // KXLS 95.7, steady S9+22 at JBM level; why? No skip
now or lately, but it ties up the channel (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Mon Sept 12 at 2200, token M/W/F English from REE, VG
into Maryland SDR, no need to check three others but you never know
whether some will be missing or defective. I`m mainly audioviewing BBC
News, see UK [non], but at 2210 check the feature is about a flamenco
artist, Rosalía, which seems vaguely familiar: there are a lot of
reruns. But by 0028 check Sept 13, NO signal on 17855 into same;
supposed to run until 0200* Tu-Sa. 11940 for S America is still VG
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830.003, Sept 12 at 2203, VOT English is on today, VG
S9+30/45 into UTwente, but I`m mainly audioviewing BBC news on TV: see
UK [non]. Back here at 2228, `Feeling Supreme` is underway, natural
remedies for head lice, but I`ve missed the first nine of twelve; the
tenth is: garlic. Not a problem here, but attn all SWLs with head
lice: you`ve got to listen to VOT! This will probably repeat
eventually.

After some musix, 2245-2249 another feature, `DYKT`, about a town on
the Aegean with ``the most beautiful beach in the world``. She of the
heavy accent mentions the name several times but never can I
understand it, so does she ever spell it? Of course not! Something`s
always awry at Ankara. Surely one could find on the web a roster of
the thousands of beautiful beaches in the world with this atop it, #1,
right?

There has been some fading in the modulation, rather than signal level
or propagation, it seems, but might be SDR reception artifact rather
than transmission problem. Also considerable splatter from something
on 9820 unless narrowed. Standard sign off and cut 2254* before any IS
heard, let alone extra German (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE. Catching up on `Ukraine: Security Issue` with dramatic
music sounders from UR1 via WRMI 7730 circa 0500, but copied later out
of archive:

http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_10_09_22.mp3
For Sept 10, but no date or warday mentioned, including: Liberating
Kharkiv region proceeding. R army still shelling along entire front
line. More than 5500 civilians died, more than 8000 injured, probably
much higher. NATO Secy-Genl says war is entering critical phase. NATO
should be ready for long-term support. More than 80% of R`s land
forces committed to U war. Putin resorting to energy blackmail of
Europe, R increasingly isolated, trying to break will of allies.
Another 5 ships left U ports for Africa, Europe, with grain, corn,
other food. 113 vessels total left for Asia, Africa, Europe. Ports no
longer blocked.

http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_11_09_22.mp3
For Sept 11, again no date or warday mentioned, including: Zap. NPP
seized by R, placed mily eqp on it. U has liberated more than 3000 sq
km of territory in Sept. R lost more than 400 soldiers this day.
Civilians still being killed. Shot down enemy missile. Negotiations
with R not currently possible per Pres Z. They must be ready to give
back our land. Negos with R on March 29 but situation has changed.
Needs artillery ammo from Germany. Germany has changed position by 180
degrees in favor of aid. Pres Z has discussed with new British PM.
Moldova banned flights to R.

For Sept 12, not yet posted as of 0345 UT Sept 13. Sept 9 still
missing, linked by mistake to Sept 7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. RF 13, KETA virtual 13-1 OKC, Sept 12 at 2200-2227 UT,
what used to be `BBC World News America`, but anchored out of NY or DC
with plenty BBC content, is now coming direct from London, altho the
unknown anchor does acknowledge besides domestix, PBS viewers in
America at closing. BBC were already planning to downsize/merge their
news operation, so this may be the new normal, but EIIR* coverage
threw a monkey wrench into everything, so it`s not clear whether just
a temporary/special arrangement. Furthermore a ``live`` shot from
Scotland at 2210 UT had a clock showing 21:10, so it was already two
hours old! OETA, and other PBS? have always delayed it at least one
hour, olds instead of news. The identical `cast also runs a semi-hour
earlier at 2130 on OETA-2 for our convenience.

BTW, we couldn`t help but notice while CNN & MSNBC and even FNC were
covering memorial service in live Edinburgh, BBC America had: Star
Trek! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2155 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday September 13 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/22 into Maryland SDR.
Once again, Jeff White automatically interjects between canned ID and
start of WOR: ``Right now, the world is in turmoil...``, yes, and...?
Next:

2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba]
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, by money order or check on
a US bank.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, UT Tue Sept 13 about 0040-0053, central feature this
week on WRMI, AWR `Wavescan` is Jeff White`s first report from Sofia,
Bulgaria for the B-22 meeting of HFCC, the last week of August,
opening remarx by himself, reps of host Spaceline, ABSU and ABU; more
to come next week. At the same time one might have been hearing WOR on
WRMI 9395, but we have several other airings and WS has dozens of
others as on the WRMI skedgrid or our SWL/DX/Media Programs schedule.
Portions of WS not scripted by Adrian Peterson are never availablized
in transcript form. This was followed by a monthly Philippine DX
report, consisting of a rapid bunch of routine loggings with no
program details, just date, time, frequency, station, language and SIO
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7489.9v), Monday Sept 12 at 2259, WBCQ webcast of AW`s
closing prayer ending an `AAAWWW` episode repeat is cut off by an AW
canned ID, as the show always runs at least a bit overtime. I`m tuning
in now to hear the first half of `UBMP` on its secret semi-repeat, as
I often do 25 hours after original Sunday airing at 2200 when I am
distracted by other audio/viewing --- but not any more!

This time has finally been sold, for the first program of ``Living by
the Sword`` from Gospel Gunslingers --- I kid you not: the confluence
of deadly violence, The Second Amendment, and Christianity [gunshot
SFX]: none of that ``other cheek`` crap: ``thou shalt murder thine
enemies``. O, where`s that? Apparently plenty of Biblical references
can be dredged along those lines, as I tune away in less than two
minutes.

Now the only alternative for `UBMP` is UT Sundays at 0300-0400 on
Radio Angela 5130- only, where webcasting is banned; but it`s `billed`
as original airing, with Sun 2200 on 7490-, the only and now final,
repeat. But even on webcast, it`s never in $ tereo. Music on a couple
recent shows I haven`t much cared for, but heh heh, I come back as UB
eclectically invites (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130 minus 23 Hz = 5129.977, Sept 13 at 0358, WBCQ R. Angela
asking for donations as they are ``working on getting two 100 kW
transmitters to the station``; whence? Presumably used. S9/+10 after
bluegrass show, sounded like Dolly.

Next week on the third Monday = UT Tuesday Sept 20, sked shows at
0355: ``El gringo viejo con mucha cuerda (language: Spanish), Host:
Scott Hadley (Mexico), Format: Scott presents a custom-tailored
version of his popular short on radio station XHBUAP in Mexico in
which he presents early recordings made in Latin America.`` --- where
is XHBUAP? 96.9, a 10 kW college station in Heroica Puebla de
Zaragoza, Puebla, per WTFDA FM Database, which I might have DXed were
it not for a local on same. BUAP stands for Benemérita Universidad
Autónoma de Puebla. That means Meritorious, or Worthy. ``Autonomy`` is
a big deal among Mex Univs unlike USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Reply to my last report: ``Glenn, not SW but FYI: `NBC News
Daily` apparently has four live feeds starting at 16, 17, 18, And 19
UT. Stations can choose which one to air, regardless of location. The
previous soap opera also had multiple feed options. Stephen Luce,
Houston, Texas`` --- hmm, does that mean each hour is different as
news develops? Or mostly the same with different ``live`` timechex.
What if a hot-news affiliate wanted to run it more than once? Of
course, `Nightly` has long provided two feeds at 2230 & 2300 UT, for
affiliate convenience, presumably the same unless news be really,
really, breaking; and likely later ones for west coast. BTW, `not SW`
is not a problem, as I and the WOR iog are open to much broader media
coverage, ``above all, SW`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs September 11-12, 2022  View Printable Version
Monday, September 12 2022

Logs
** ALGERIA. 17600, Sept 11 at 2208, S2/S3 of secular-sounding Arabic
talk, no doubt TDA, and the OSOB = only signal on band, since on
Sunday 17855 Spain is already off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11880, Sept 11 at 2214, S6/S9 of dead air when RHC is
supposed to be Frenching; 11850 Spanish is JBM with JBA plus/minus 10
kHz parasitic spurs. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Unknown if
English succeeded at 2300; a while ago someone reported 11880 in
Spanish instead of French here after 2200. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Sept 12 at 0607, RHC English S9+10/20 with humwhine;
6100, S9+20/30 JBM English; all others off including 5040. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA [and non]. 7255-, Sept 12 at 0608 check, VON is OFF.

7255-, Sept 12 at 1734, VON is ON, signature minus 66/69 Hz offset =
7254.934 to .931, English talk about Nigeria, hard to follow despite
S9/+10 into Canary SDR, squeal, lots of storm noise from N Morocco
into SE Spain and N Algeria; and 2ACI from 7265, much louder CRI
Russian pontificating via Urumqi, East Turkistan, std denunciation.
AMNarrow or LSB helps a bit but still squealy. Recheck at 1757, VON is
OFF, supposed to run another hour in English and after that Fulfulde
vs heavy ChiCom CCI not 2ACI. VON may be cutting off and on
erratically should I have cared to keep on it. But by 1817 recheck,
the H2Ofall is blank, as Peter, EA8BFK = DJ9PC must have recaptured it
for his own hamming as per standard warning. 1907 it`s back, nothing
but CRI Turkish, huge S9+10/25 and almost on-frequency. Hard to
believe this be all the way from Kunming instead of E Turkistan.

SDR location is the CI of Fuerteventura. Antenna is ``80m Loop`` --
measuring 80 metres, or peaking on the 80m band? It worx well anyway
on 40m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6920 USB, Sept 11 at 2220, rock music S5/S6. Several
reports also as unID, between 2143 and 2225 at least:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,101808.0.html
Some request QSL anyway; if forthcoming, would it then be IDed, or
``QSLing your unID...``? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930 USB, Sept 12 at 0045, hard rock, some DJ?
talkovers unreadable; 0125 quick ID as Radio --something, back to
music. Many logs here as Sycko Radio, not exactly at 0125 tho:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,101816.0.html

BTW at 0051 a noise burst of about 10 seconds, probably RF
auto-ignition of my nearest streetlight circa sunset which was at
0045; but not confirmed at visible wavelengths -- i.e. I did not
hasten to look out a window (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27184.5 AM, Sept 11 at 2202, S8.5/S9 of JBM music but
this time matchable to 95.7 KXLS ``Lahoma`` Enid, fourth known station
local CB pirate has rebroadcast (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2155 monitoring: tnx to Vern who
explains without my asking what happened UT Sunday circa 0315 UT: ``Hi
Glenn, This is to let you know that WOR 2155 did not air in the 22:15
CDT slot on Sept. 10. An area wide power outage from 21:25 to 23:55,
caused by a severe lightning thunderstorm in the area. It caused
WA0RCR to be off air during that time. Operation did not resume until
23:56 CDT. Vern Jackson`` -- I wish other affiliates would do that.

Confirmed Sunday September 11 at 2005, the 2000 on AM Italia, 1323 kHz
only, S9+5/18 well atop musical understation. Yesterday 918 was also
on and much better into same nearby Noale SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday September 12 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+5
into Maryland SDR with usual noise burst for a few seconds at start.

Also confirmed ENDING at 0259 UT Monday Sept 12 on WBCQ Area 51,
6160-, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR, and right into Hobart Radio
International, both half an hour early! Larry Will says sorry, it was
a one-time automation mixup. BTW, HRI program was dated 23 July - 13
August, i.e. was supposed to repeat week after week over a monthlong
period, now long past. Next WORs:

0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba]
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, by money order or check on
a US bank.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, Sept 12 at 0612, this WRMI is S9+20, distorted and
splattering again, as far down as 9410 marring BBC. Something`s odd at
Okeechobee (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330v, Sept 12 at 1523 check, WLCR/WBCQ is still AWOL at
least during this hour. What does WLCR own sked say?
https://www.worldslastchance.com/wlc-radio-broadcast-schedule.html

9330, nonstop 24h including nothing but English 1100-2400, all at 253
degrees, yet specifying different targets: Central/West USA at 11-14;
Canada/Upper Mid-West USA at 14-17; East/Central USA at 17-24.

Why 253 degrees? I had not realized until tracking it on my NGS Globe
with geometer, that it`s aimed right at Enid! Thus WLCR has been
dedicated from the outset to convincing ME that the World is flat!!
And incidentally that there is some wacky deity, ``Preparing for
Yahuwah`s Earthly Kingdom, Established at Yahushua`s Imminent
Return!`` -- Y & Y, what`s the diff? Guess I have not been paying
attention, but ``don`t spell me Yahweh!``. Cf. WMLK and Station YHWH.
Anyhow, no one is in a better position than I to divine whether 9330
be on the air or not during all those hours.

253 degrees also crosses near Detroit, out of USA east of El Paso, and
out of Norteamérica across BCS. Eventually it hits Tahiti, and New
Zealand. This is slightly beyond the nominal azimuth of all the
``classic`` WBCQ antennas, 245 degrees as in FCC, while 9330 has a
wide variety of other angles registered, totally different from own
current sked. Still nothing but 9330, no other imaginary frequencies
contemplated as in original plan, since they still haven`t figured out
how to QSY.

For a while they were compensating for this by hiring some time
elsewhere, still IDing as if WBCQ, but has anyone heard those lately:
current HFCC shows Spaceline, Sofia, Bulgaria for Allan H Weiner:
Perhaps only one at a time, or none: 07-12 13840 & 17520, 07-15 15780,
all multilingual, daily, 250 kW at 156 degrees to CIRAFs 38,39,48,47E
= NE, E and C Africa from Libya to Sudan to Kenya, and Turkey thru
Arabian Peninsula, of course including Egypt HQ of the cosmetix
magnate instigator, an alien who could not own a US SW station
directly. What`s his name? Lotsa luck finding it at
https://www.worldslastchance.com/founders-headquarters.html
with weasely generalities. New Jerusalem, really? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. RF 27, KFOR-TV OKC ``4`` with premiere of `NBC News Daily`,
Sept 12 at 1800 UT. This hour replaces the soapera `DOOL` which has
been banished to Peacock after countless decades on real air. Opening
gives time of 2 pm in the east, 11 am in the west, --- and 1 pm in St
Louis!!! Incredible, a national coastal-based network acknowledging
that there be anything such as a different timezone in the great
Central US. Will they ever mention Denver, or Phœnix? Evidently it`s
running live everywhere, rather than 3-hour delay to PDT, so must
require some other program-juggling.

This fortuitously coincides with EIIR* super-coverage destined to last
at least another week, but by 1808 already moved on to T**** and many
other topix. Some of same anchors, but no, not on MSNBC too. Let`s
hope it continue to cover the news broadly with twice as much time M-F
as `Nightly` which is airing before sundown in most of the country. At
least here, confronts `The Talk` on CBS, and an hour after `GMA3` on
ABC, hardly hard news there.

NBC provides 1822 & 1852 cutaways used for local weather, hostessed by
the very pregnant meteorologiste Emily Sutton;
https://kfor.com/news/local/big-announcement-kfors-emily-sutton-is-expecting/
She`s also on the pre-sunrise shift, #2 only to Mike Morgan in
primetime 4 pm+. Enid`s low this morning was 49, whew! (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7932+, Sept 12 at 0610, RV is S7/S8 vs CODAR, 2 x 3966+,
back on Monday after silent Sunday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs September 9-10-11, 2022  View Printable Version
Sunday, September 11 2022

Logs
** CHINA. 13530, 13130, 13020, Sept 11 at 1457, JBA carriers, the
usual trio if any from CNR1 jammers against Sound of Hope (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA. 6017.012, Sept 11 at 0706, JBA music vs jamming bleed,
from 6030? Presumably the lately reported pirate, which was already
identified 5 months ago by Rafael Rodríguez R. as Organización Radial
el Prado, in Palermo, Magdalena (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6100 et al., Sunday Sept 11 at 0708, no signals from any RHC
on 6 or 5 MHz, when Esperanto is supposed to air. A hopeless
situation. The Sunday 1500 broadcast also must be missing, since at
1456 & 1500 chex, its only known frequencies, 11760 & 15140 are both
OFF. Still on is 15230, VP undermodulated presumably Spanish.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Sept 10 at 2159, R. Cairo, S9+25/35 into UTwente
but extremely distorted with humwhine, supposedly English. Something`s
always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Sept 11 at 0646, no signal from R. Kiribati JBA
carrier, tending to confirm Ron Howard`s suggestion that it may be

1753 has cut on at minus 67/68 Hz offset with some squeal vs talk
about Nigeria in English at S9/+10, still heavy crashes all over
Morocco, northern Algeria. 1824 recheck, off again (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Sept 11 at 0710, JBA presumed SIBC, with
5025 Cuba absent, but carrier should still have been detectable.

Martin Hadlow says SIBC is offering a special eQSL for correct reports
on its 70th anniversary date Sept 23 only, on SW or MW 1035, to
sibcnews@solomon.com.sb I have one from the original VQO long ago on

September edition is missing from the archive; was there something
wrong with it? It still exists if you use this direct link as in my
Roundup covering that date, with my as always incomplete notes:

I`ve already reported on Sept 6, Day 195, and Sept 7, Day 196.

For Sept 8, Day 197:

http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_08_09_22.mp3
including: U continues counteroffensive, 30 strixe launched. R command
post destroyed. Almost 640 Rs KIA, highest daily total so far, in all
more then 51K. High alert along BR border. In Mariupol R continues
preps for show trial of Azov defenders, also civilians. UN mission to
arrive in a Donetsk village to investigate R attack. After 6 weeks, R
returned body of British volunteer, tortured and murdered? body is
mutilated, needs forensic investigation. Companion is still in
captivity. US has evidence that Putin admin officials are in charge of
occupied areas, war crime. Hundreds of thousands of Us deported to R.
US SOS Blinken arrived in Kyiv, $ 2 billion aid package for U and
neighbors in Europe announced.

For Sept 9, Day 198: oh, oh, the link for that really goes back to
Sept 7 and if you change the 7 to 9 it`s unfound. O well (Glenn

** UKOGBANI. Proms on the BBC World Service --- The BBC Sounds linx to
Proms have been displaying almost-year-long access, so I have been
taking my time listening to them, so far up to only #17. However, on
air announcements have been saying for only 30 days following the Last
Night!

Taking a look, #64 shows for 30 days from now, i.e. September 40 or
about October 10, while #65 shows 359 days! What are we to believe, or
does it depend on whichever individual concert? 73, Glenn Hauser

Furthermore these would not be edited down to fit into a less than

``Classical music
Last night of the Proms cancelled out of respect for Queen

After cancellation of Thursday evening’s event, BBC announces final
two concerts of the eight-week season will not go ahead
Last modified on Fri 9 Sep 2022 16.45 EDT

The BBC has announced that both Friday and Saturday’s Proms have been
cancelled. Saturday would have been the Last Night, the traditional
celebration that concludes the eight-week classical music festival
that takes place predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall.

Although the Last Night has been modified in response to public events
(the programme was changed in 1997 after the death of Diana Princess
of Wales and in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks) this is the first time
since the second world war that the final concert has not taken place
at all.

Thursday night’s concert – the first of two due to feature the
Philadelphia Orchestra – was also called off only half an hour before
the event. An announcement was made at 7 pm, and with much of the
audience already arriving at the venue, the orchestra instead played
the National Anthem and Elgar’s Nimrod. The Royal Box remained empty
and the curtain behind the seats was closed as a mark of respect.

Later that evening the BBC announced that the season’s two remaining
Proms would also be cancelled “as a mark of respect”. Saturday’s Prom
was to have featured soprano Lise Davidsen and cellist Sheku
Kanneh-Mason with Dalia Stasevska conducting the BBC Symphony
Orchestra.

Many people on social media questioned the decision and saw it as a
missed opportunity to use the Last Night as a musical tribute to the
Queen.

The event was due to be broadcast live on BBC Two and its second half
on BBC One as well as on BBC Radio 3 and across the world.`` (Glenn
