Glenn Hauser logs June 3-4, 2024  View Printable Version

Hauser
** ALGERIA. 17600, June 4 at 1840, checking Ifrikya FM for a floating
English segment but just music. Inadequate signal from Béchar into
UTwente, and Maryland SDR, so I pick the only Kiwi close to the
boresight, TWR Kenya: shows 17599.902, but I think it`s miscalibrated,
since UTwente puts it on 17599.997 at the least; TWR also gets a
squeal inaudible elsewhere so suspect receiver or Nairobi-area
problem, not transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 28228 CW, June 4 at 2203, only 10m beacon is
JBA, usually fading when it comes to ID after EEEEEEE DE ---, but
finally conclude it`s ZL3TEN, as recently also logged, as per WGB
list:

``28228 ZL3TEN - Rolleston, Christchurch NZL RE66ej - #0 (09 Jan 2024)
Note: ID + grid + eee``
-- and not to be confused partially with another TEN right next to
him:
``28228.3 TG9TEN/B - Guatemala City GTM EK44mv - #0 (16 Mar 2024)
Note: ID + grid - HTX 100 1w into A99 vertical`` Only other sig on 10m
was someone calling CQ in English on 28460 USB, but not back in ~4
minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Correxion: I recently referred to 1170 Tulsa as KFAQ, in
connexion with IBOQRM to 1160 KSL. Shows you how much I listen to/care
about that station, format now silly Fox sports. FCC info on call sign
history with Begin Date: KTSB 09/06/2021, KFAQ 05/10/2002, originally
KVOO from 1926. I think Voice of Oklahoma was much neater, stupid of
them to ditch it. KVOO still not assigned to any AM station (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 13650, June 4 at 2053, English about film awards, S9/+20,
soon RRI sounder and s/off this 2030 to WEu/ENAm, next broadcast at
2200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935, June 4 at 1650, no horrible noise blob, but
Arabic, VP S6/S7 into UTwente, presumed Rep. of Yemen Radio service
via Riyadh, but with heavy ACI from 11940 CRI English this hour only
by Kashgar, EAST TURKISTAN, std. denunciation, S9+15/20. LSB tuning
helps but still bothering. ACI gone by 1700 but now I hear some CCI
noise under 11935, not the roaring sound when strong and alone. By
1728 Qur`an in clear, S9+15/20; 1820 still clear, S9+10/20 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Monday June 3 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG
direct, and good enough on 15520 while 15390 & 17715 are JBA but
confirmable. Again today, only Marilyn Quintana, guess Amy Egan
vacationing? Nothing like Turkey but MQ does have an accent unlike
Amy. Top news is PM Sánchez facing no-confidence vote. Interview
checked at 2210, something about getting medical/health advice via
audiovisual means. The podcast is titled: ``Innovative
entrepreneurship: AI at the service of society`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 3 at 2200, JBA carrier direct, but a few
minutes later nothing at all from VOT English. Nor on accidental
alternates 11795, 9875. Ditto by 2220 check of UTwente. Something`s
erroneous at Emirler. Nothing else listed on 11785 around this hour
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 4 at 2157, VOT IS & IDs in English, not off
the air today, S9+10/20 direct but vs S8/S9 high local line noise.
2200 accurate timesignal; s/on mentions `Review of the Turkish Press`
after news [sic] but no specific segments after that besides music.
2233 I`ve switched to UTwente, S9+40/50 as Ms Badax is reading `Weekly
Commentary` as shortly outroed at 2236, music. 2240 `Turkey`s
Geomarked [sic] Products` about some cream from processing milk, no
further into cheese, it seems. 2242 music. 2247 `ABYS`. 2248 music.
2253 s/off with no mention of SW. 2253.5 IS. 2256 restart IS with
German IDs to 2257*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: confirmed Monday
June 3 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, into UTwente: 3975.003 S9+7
and 6160.001, S9/+10.

Missed checking UT Tuesday June 4 at 0330 on WRMI 7780; anyone hear
it? Sked shows Wavescan but WOR has been showing usually.

Confirmed Tuesday June 4 at 1300 on WRMI 9955, VP S8/S9 direct. Next:

2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks this
week to Doug Brown, London, Ont., for a generous check in US$ on a US
bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 28262 CW, June 3 at 2207, JBA beacon with long dash and
VVV but can`t copy the call thru several repetitions. Another one on
28282. Only other 10m sig is Brazuguese on 28410 USB. Long time since
10m has been replete with beacons, despite Es MUFs allegedly way above
it. Per WGB beacon list, 28262 likely VK2RSY Sydney NSW which I had
logged recently including a 30-second carrier = dash (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CHAD [non]. 15505, June 3 at 0618, S7/S8 in very heavily accented
French. It`s R. Ndarason Internationale via Woofferton UKQOGBANI this
hour, per EiBi and the following hour via Ascension. WRTH 2024 page
578 shows languages used are Kanuri/Kanembu/French without any
specific times. Editors who insist on deleting any of my [non]
headers, also delete the context and very raison-d`être for such
stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sun June 2 at 2220, VOT English not off the air,
VG into UTwente with TRTWorld promo, and `Weekly Commentary` about
Rafah, etc., written by John somebody but read by Ms Badax, mentions
``Israel commits genocide``. 2226 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo. 2227
`The Letterbox Programmme`, mostly QSL requests from: New Delhi
regular, China-no name?, David Ansell? England, Japan, China, India.
2242 time`s up so must play mandatory never identified song; THEN 2246
L`Box outro; ``always-by-your-side`` promo, song. 2251 headlines by Ms
Badax. 2253 her s/off as if the 1230 on 17620. 2254 IS. 2256 restart
IS with German IDs, to 2259*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: Also confirmed
Sunday June 2 from 1903, new time on IRRS via AM Italia, 1323 kHz,
S9+15/20 into nearby Noale SDR. Following 3-minute Verdi theme at
1900. And now THIS WOR is chopped short by 2 minutes so VOA news can
air at 1930! Then at 1935, 16 Gwendolyn Street. A 29-minute program is
never going to fit into a 27-minute slot! Without a speedup? Surely a
way could be arranged to carry the whole program {this edited version
replaces original}.

Also confirmed Sunday June 2 at 2000 on WRMI webcast only and WRN
Europe stream.

Also confirmed Sunday June 2 at 2130 on Shortwave Gold/Radio, Germany,
into UTwente, S9+20/25 on 6160.002, S9+15/20 on 3975.003.

Missed checking the new Sunday 2330 June 2 on WRMI 7570; anyone hear
it?

Also confirmed UT Monday June 3 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 into
Maryland SDR.

Confirmed UT Monday June 3 at 0300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -70 Hz =
6159.930, S8/9+5 into Maryland SDR. At least once during program and
shortly after 0329 finish, overriding noise blasts. Not sure whether
external QRM or something internal.

Confirmed Monday June 3 at 1737 so would have started about 1730 UT on
SatZentrale webcast via
https://www.satzentrale.de/technikradio/sendeplan.shtml
On the sked of this substation, WOR not mentioned but part of
``MONTAG 19 Uhr [MESZ]: Technikradio - Kurzwellenecke
(deutsch/englisch)``
WOR however is shown on this page also with Play link:
https://www.satzentrale.de/technikradio/programm.shtml
And no other time during the week but this is a 2-hour block so WOR
might appear at 1700, 1800 or 1830 UT? Next:

1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [irregular?];
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. Thanks this
week to Doug Brown, London, Ont., for a generous check in US$ on a US
bank to:

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15150, Monday June 3 at 0615, S9+20 of dead air, obviously
WMLK which attempts to broadcast toward Europe overnight, except on UT
Sabbathdays; much stronger here than usual, ironically, and still dead
at 0704, tsk2. I guess no one be awake at Bethel and monitoring own
output. What would DEJOM say? Wolfgang Bueschel also reports, via
remotes:

``15150even USA WMLK from Bethel PA state, S=9+20dB strong signal,
but only carrier seen on screen. No audio program content at this
hour, 0425 UT on June 3. Slight 120 Hertz buzz tone audio noted and
seen on screen too`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, June 3 at 0622, World`s Last Chance Radio, nonsense
facilitated by WBCQ, not in usual exaggerated British accent, but
American, pseudo-scientific wacko explanation of how the Earth has to
be flat, by shooting lasers across the oceans, etc. People are being
``indoctrinated with globalism``. Really laughable, but how many
credulous listeners may he convince? Leading them into a life of
delusions (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** AUSTRIA. 9510, June 2 at 0254, S Asian music and 0257 talk in
presumed Punjabi ending with ``Amen``, 0258 PO Box in Lahore,
Pakistan, AWR ID and off 0259.5*, EiBi shows Moosbrunn site at 0200
Urdu, 0230 Punjabi. Quite a good signal wasted over here, S9+20 and
not directly off the back, per HFCC only 100 kW at 91 degrees (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA [non]. 9580, June 2 at 0253, tune of ``Frère Jacques`` but
not in French, presumably Mandarin like this hour via CUBA, S9+20/30
but very undermodulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9700, June 2 at 0251, RHC Spanish is on tonight,
about the Mexelex today, VG direct, nothing on 11760 and RRI Spanish
safely away on 9740 also with VG signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. 9670, June 2 at 0252, S9+10/20 of pop music, much better
signal than usual from Channel 292, reported to be testing new
direxional antenna thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6880 USB, June 2 at 0147 pirate music, S9 but so is
the high storm noise level. Many logs here of Mix Radio International,
including Radio 48, starting at 2257 June 1:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,130077.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) see also UNID 6925-

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 1 at 2240 continued from previous report,
via UTwente, VOT just music until 2254, dredging up the Ms Badax s/off
mentioning only the 1230 on 17620, IS once and off 2255* (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: confirmed UT
Saturday June 1 at 0400 on WTWW 5085, S9+15/25 into Maryland SDR -
overlooked including this one in my previous report.

Confirmed Saturday June 1 at 2300 on WTWW 9474.980; VG direct and
checking various remotes averaging -20 Hz offset. KFS/SE S9+15;
UTwente S8/S9; LU4AA Argentina S7/S8; Pardinho Brasil S9/+10; Brasília
S6/S8; Iceland S6/S8; Querétaro S7/S9; Alaska: no signals. In South
America we are squeezed between ACI from 9470 & 9480.

Also confirmed on stream only of IRRS/NEXUS/IBA/IPAR still starting at
2333 after 3 minutes of Feature Story News; and fading me out, twice
by 2400 with 2 minutes remaining, for a minute of harpsichord fill
music, and then stream crashed so unknown what next tho scheduled more
news and then generic non-info. Surely they could let WOR run its full
29 minutes one way or another.

Also confirmed UT Sunday June 2 at 0014 the 0000 on WRMI 9955, S7/S9
and noisy into Bonaire; S9/+12 into Maryland SDR even tho it`s aimed
SSE.

Also confirmed UT Sunday June 2 at 0343 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, JBA in
HSNL direct but S9+10/20 vs HSNL into nearby SDR, about 8 minutes into
so started about 0335, the 0315v.

Also confirmed Sunday June 2 from 1903, new time on IRRS via AM
Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+15/20 into nearby Noale SDR. Following 3-minute
Verdi theme at 1900. And now THIS WOR is chopped short by 2 minutes so
VOA news can air at 2030! Next:

2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW [NEW];
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;

WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST UPDATE

Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update.

discontinued (Thanks to Tim Gaynor, Unique R, in WORiog mail list)

4) Germany - HCJB Deutsche: Website now moved to a new host, all links
updated.

(Thanks to Lesley Illingworth in WOR iog mail list)

The next update is scheduled for late June.
Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe

** BENIN. 1566, June 1 at 0323, monitoring Canary SDR for opening of
TWR, whose carrier I DXed direct a couple nights ago. It`s so weak I
can`t see an exact cut on, but it is there by 0330, and still no
modulation audible by 0345. The Fuerteventura SDR gets that much, not
the other one in Tenerife (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 15245, June 1 at 1536, algo weak direct with het
from even weaker 15245.25 approx. The latter is surely VOK as logged
yesterday; the former listed as CRI English this hour only via
Kashgar, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other
Moslems. Commies vs Commies! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. 6150, June 1 at 1453 into UTwente, pop music S7/S9, as I
check for anything besides WOR from missing SW Radio 6160. Nothing
above that on band, but this below which is Europa24, Datteln. 1544
rock/songs in English with ID between each in German, ``Europa
vierundzwanzig`` also at 1547, 1555, 1558. SHN`s latest and last list
of Eu private lowpower SW stations shows it closing at 1500. WRTH 2024
page 548 shows 250 watts at 09-17. Map shows Datteln in NW Germany
near Netherlands border like some of the others (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** ROMANIA. 9740, June 1 at 0224, RRI in Spanish, VG S9+20/40 into
Maryland SDR, Castilian accent, with folk music, new frequency ex-9700
due to QubaRM; ironically, RHC is absent tonight, but no doubt will be
back (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 1 at 2203, VOT English not off the air,
S9+30/40 VG into UTwente, with Olds; 2210 multi-lingual ID filler
reel; 2212 `The Energy Agenda`, 2219 songs past 2240 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 17675, June 1 at 1533 direct, S2/S5 sounds like
Portuguese play-by-play game coverage. Suspect it`s the BAL
championship from Rwanda via VOA SAO TOME; previous games were on
17655, and 15580 Botswana, but which is not heard now. 17675 gone by
next check 1742 at UTwente. Certainly not NZ at that hour. At 1744,
17655 is on into UTwente, VG S9+15/20 with Luso Port discussion of
Angolan economy; at 17-18 regular site is VATICAN, violating
Separation Of Church And State (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: despite my hearing
music on 9955 at 2228 Friday May 31, Jeff White replies, ``Glenn: WOR
is still scheduled for 6 pm ET Friday on 9955, and our electronic log
from yesterday shows it played at that time. Jeff``

And next: ``Hi Glenn, WOR 2244 (not 2245) heard via SWR Germany on
Friday 31 May at 2230 UT on 3975 kHz. Best wishes, Alan Roe,
Teddington, UK``

Not confirmed UT Saturday June 1 at 1453 the 1430 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, as no signal from 6160 into UTwente; nor on 3975. But see
GERMANY: 6150

Confirmed Saturday June 1 at 1600 on WRN North America webcast.

Also confirmed Saturday June 1 at 1733 the 1730 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, into UTwente, 6160.001 S9/+10 and 4 or 5 words behind on
3975.002, S9/+5.

``WOR 2245 confirmed via SWR Germany via my local Kiwi SDR. Saturday
1st June 17:30:20 UT on 6160 kHz. S9+5dB. However some sideband China
QRM // on 3975 kHz with S9 and no sideband QRM. Lesley Illingworth
reporting from Bremerhaven.``

Also confirmed Saturday June 1 starting at 1946.5 the 1930v on WA0RCR,
1860 AM, MO, steady S9+15 groundwave into nearby SDR with no storm
noise.

Also confirmed Saturday June 1 at 2000 on WRN Europe webcast. Next:

helpful on radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9700, May 31 at 0409, RHC Spanish with news,
S9+30/40 direct, no sign of QRM from Algeria, despite scheduling, and
that not on 9500 either. Also as of June 1, Romania in Spanish at
0200-0300 evacuates from 9700 to 9740. Recheck at 0426, RHC is off
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 15245.244, May 31 at 1823, song at S4/S7 and way off
frequency first estimated at 15234.25; yet one of better sigs on
almost deadband, JBA carriers, except for USA stations. I bet it`s
P`yongyang. At 1832 when measured I tune it in at UTwente where it`s
VG S9/+15, and soon announcements in English as ``sweet`` music
continues: how could that be coming from a hellhole rather than a
paradise on earth? 1853 with typical KN accent, recites extensive
times and frequencies of Voice of Korear English broadcasts, not clear
if complete, and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850, UT Friday May 31 at 0200-0300, `Encore` on
WRMI, first scheduled airing of fortnightly run; usually I catch a
later repeat on UT Sunday or Monday; and check the playlists. But
content of this new(?) program does not match either playlist nor his
publicity. I notify Brice Avery, who says there was a mixup but he
won`t be able to correct it until Tuesday. Anyway, I told him I very
much appreciate his mixture of familiar and unfamiliar classical
music! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri May 31 at 2159, just before token English from
SNR, S9+30/40 direct and the other three detectable, 15390 & 15520 not
yet // but 17715 is. Back at 2202 after WRMI and Turkey have faded out
in R3 blackout, 17855 still audible but diminished to only S9+10/20.
Missed billboard about topix, but today no Amy, only Marylin Quintana.
2207 is about the dangers of smoking, referring to
https://semanasinhumo.es/ which concludes today. 2210 interview about
a museum with a statue of Constantine. 2226 report by Lebanon
correspondent, which I am now hearing on 15389.988, S8/S9 into UTwente
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, May 31 at 2156, VOT IS & IDs, so not off the air
and not on wrong frequency this time; S9+10/20 direct, but 2202
recheck only a JBA carrier! This correlates perfectly with a WWV
notice of R3 level blackout: see that under USA/WOR report. By 2224 I
try UTwente when measured, as it`s S9+50 over one? hop, starting
`Turkish Folk Tales` about two sultans (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2245 monitoring: confirmed Friday
May 31 at 2051 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.995 kHz, S9+5
into UTwente. Also on WRMI webcast only.

NOT confirmed Friday May 31 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, which had been the
first airing on SW anywhere: monitoring direct at 2158, S9+10/20 on
the meter but too undermodulated? to tell what`s on it, cannot even
recognize theme at 2200. By 2202 signal is gone: correlates perfectly
with WWV report of an R3 level blackout:

At 2228 I get to 9955 just in time via Maryland SDR, to hear choral
music, NOT WOR, so looks like we have been canceled again! This makes
the very much appreciated WTWW airing, UT Sat 0400 on VG 5085, now the
first on SW from USA. First anywhere should be Fri 2230 on SWR Germany
3975, which I missed checking this week. Since I record on Thursday
afternoon including some possibly perishable info, the sooner WOR can
get on the air somewhere, the better. Next:

** U S A. Pre `AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, May 31 at 2342 into NH SDR:
3265 & 5130 NOT on air; 6160 -70 Hz = 6159.930 TOMBS; 7490 -70 Hz =
7489.930 FKB; 9330.000 WLCR S7/S9. Everyone hears the ``one-minute``
warning to FKB, except him, as he keeps preaching and has to be faded
out by 0000 UT June 1, when ``WTO`` theme starts, before a late canned
ID intervenes on 7490-. Unlike usually, AW never interjects a word into
theme; it plays complete unmarred. Then as usual he`s fumbling with
the equipment, instead of getting all set before the broadcast.
Angela`s mike check is OK. Having a problem getting 6160 to stay on as
``quadricasting`` tonight on ``3265, 5130, 6160, 7490``. NO, I recheck
and 6160 is on with something else and the other two are still OFF.
Says last week [only] was a repeat, and A&A have just returned from
Florida ``a week ago`` up the I-95 corridor, with complaints about
speed limits and masks. Soon at 0009 takes a phone call from Adam in
Indiana, by which time it`s very clear this is an oldie from early in
the COVID pandemic! No disclaimer aired before it this week. I was
wondering why they were not outraged about *rump being convicted
yesterday. This makes the SIXTH RERUN IN A ROW, as I have checked
every week, and the last new one was APRIL 20! I am thus wondering if
A and/or A be ill or something? Any explicatory twits lately? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, May 31 at 0636, music at S6/S7 so R. Vanuatu is back
with modulation as well as carrier. Ron Howard had notified the
engineer that last night it was on but with dead air, apparently news
to him! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1141.00 kHz, May 31 at 0616 UT, het against 1140.00
stations, very close to 1 kHz tone. Could not be a TA or TP where 1143
is nominal. As previously reported by: Terry L Krueger from:

``Boggy, Florida Occidental, IC-R75, NRD-535, ICF-7600GR, Tecsun
PL-360, active loop, random fence-stapled wire, misc. junk --- 1141
UNIDENTIFIED 0716 5/16/24 Fairly strong and solid with no audio, as
reported by others. Points roughly 330/150-ish degrees, which should
eliminate Cuba if accurate enough. Anyone in Mexico able to check?``
