Hauser
** BRAZIL. I soon published a correxion but at least two editors
ignored it and published the original error. Correct frequency was
5939.506, while 5939.806 was a typo (or misreading my scribbled
original log note). So here it is AGAIN. Please publish it correctly.
Glenn

5939.506, Aug 11 at 0635, JBA carrier in 5935 WWCR splash, but no
problem from 5945 NZ, no doubt also RVM, always off-frequency (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR) BTW, Wolfgang Bueschel has just remeasured this at
5939.507, Aug 24 at 2338

** CUBA. 5055, Aug 25 at 0048, Rebelde/RHC leapfrog mixing product
again of 5025 over 5040 another 15 kHz, S3-S6, but no reverse on 5010
leaving WRMI in the clear. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Aug 25 at 0057, R. Progreso is OFF again, rather than
normal start at 0030. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. ``Hi Ron, Today at 1404 I had JBA talk on 6135 as 49m
is almost faded out here except for 6170 NZ. Could this 6135 today be
anything but Madagascar long path? I thought maybe you would have
checked today as I have not yet gone thru all recent or new reports
about this. Glenn`` to Ron Howard, Aug 24.

``Hi Glenn, Was not at the beach this morning, but I'm very confident
you were in fact hearing Madagascar, because recently they have been
having very decent reception on 6135, about 1330+. Here is a typical
recent reception of their African music/singing -
http://bit.ly/2EmlyoO
Ron, California``

Also in the NASWA Flashsheet, Ralphus W Perry, IL, reports Mad on
6135.01 Aug 23 at 0408 with ``unmistakable chanting``, 0410 Christian
hymn on Sunday; vs presumed Brasil on 6134.82 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Aug 25 at 0057, S Asian song, S1-S3 and fluttery
on near-transpolar path, very brief announcement and off at 0058* as
SLBC is now scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2048 monitoring: confirmed Monday
August 24 from 1800:47 on IRRS, 7290 via Bulgaria, S9+25; tuned in
earlier via UTwente at 1745, Iran still on; retune 1758 I think the
IRRS carrier has just cut on, and a few sex before 1759 cuts on music
modulation but with heavy pumping, slow SAH from another carrier maybe
still Iran but fortunately no mod from it. RTTYish warble from 7291 as
always, and rough IRRS mod, some plus/minus 10 splash. Just before
1800 IRRS sign-on with deleted? Milano PO box, Feature Story News
headlines before WOR starts. Spot-checked every 5 minutes or so on my
recording finds it intact, no more pumping, but ending just before
1830, my closing cut off after ``standa --- [rdisclaimer]``. My editor
is leaving a second or two of dead air at end of file, which worx on
WRMI to prevent overlap, but not enough for IRRS.

Also confirmed UT Tue Aug 25 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, poor S6-S8 direct
and somewhat undermodulated but improving.

Also confirmed UT Tue Aug 25 at 0330, brand-new time on WRMI 5800,
good S7-S9 to Maine SDR, altho aimed SSE.

Next:
2100+UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5850 to NW [NEW][System F sked adds 5010 to S]

Good but unfortunately this means the best broadcast across USA on
5850 will be the last airing of the week rather than the first, as I
am not inclined to change my produxion schedule to earlier than
Thursday afternoons.

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Thanks for financial support from Samuel Sánchez, podcast
listener, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com
- not necessarily in US funds as PP will convert

One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5800, UT Tue Aug 25 at 0230, WRMI amid a Spanish DX program
about Guyana rejecting VOA MW relay to Venezuela, not sure what but is
// 7780 where RAE is scheduled on System D. This matches last night
when WOR 7780 at 0230 also appeared on 5800. But the System H sked
still has a gap at 0230-0300 daily for 5800 or any other frequency it
might employ. The 0300-0400 block on System H 5800 is also empty on UT
Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon, where we already discovered Radio República has just
been inserted --- but keeping it a secret? To stave off jamming sure
to follow eventually (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Aug 25 at 0129, WRNO is still off, surprise2 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. UT Aug 25 at 0115 UT, as the Republican national
``convention`` is underway, at least on TV, I make a quick sweep
across the MW band while some woman is talking as if in a venue, and
hear her only on these major signals: 750 WSB Atlanta, 1170 KFAQ
Tulsa, 1510 WLAC Nashville. Otherwise most of them continue with silly
ballgames or their own far-right talk. Ho, hum. [I did not do any such
survey last week Democratically]. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1420, Aug 25 around 0105 UT, Mexican music mixing [Mexmxmix]
with English weather sounds like ``KWTE first forecast``, the two
making a medium SAH. No fuzzily-similar call listed on 1420, but so
many radio stations rely on TV stations for weather, and the
closest-fuzzy TV rhyme to that is KWTV right here in OK, which would
correlate with nearest, Hobart OK, KTJS on 1420. Checking the KTJS+
cluster website
http://www.foxradiook.com/
there is no indication of wx source, but there is a link to KWTV9 for
news; so that all seems circumstantially likely. Soon there`s Sean
which would be a third station, not country KTJS.

1420 Spanish loops more E/W than N/S so probably Unitedstatesian. At
0107 UT, automated wrong TC for ``Las 8 de la noche con 6 minutos``,
so that narrows it down to CDT. Then 0109, ``no se equivoque --- La
Zeta`` which is the slogan of KBHS Hot Springs AR, 5000/87 watts ND.
Oh2, official sunset there in August was 0100 UT! Sept: 0015 UT (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey Aug 24 at 1410, after most of them have
quit at 1400*: none in the 16s, 14s, 13s or 12s, but 15110 good and
confirmed as such by // 10820 at 1454 an echo apart. Meanwhile only
ones detected at 1410 are 11460 JBA carrier, 10870, and at S2-S4,
10820; none in the 11s or 9s either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 7310-7385, Aug 24 at 0600, jammming bleed over this entire
range from the combined heavy noise centered on 7335 and 7365 which is
completely unnecessary with Radio Martí totally off the air after
0400! Something`s always wrong at DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Aug 24 at 0629, the only 9-kHz JBA carrier is
here, presumed R. Kiribati, an hour really too late for Eurafrica even
if propagable before, yet too early for further Pacificans --- well,
almost, just after sunset in wintry NZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. Replying to my report of missing VOT `Letterbox` the past
two weeks, Alan Roe, UK, says, ``Glenn - the "Letterbox" programme of
12/15 Aug was, I think, a repeat of the previous week's edition, and
there was no "Letterbox" programme on 19/22 Aug --- so you haven't
missed anything! Hopefully there'll be a new edition this coming
week. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK.``

And Hansjoerg Biener, Germany, says, ``According to information
received from the German service earlier this month, the Voice of
Turkey is still operating in a covid19 mode. It is said that only one
technician is in the studio building at a time taking up all
responsibilities. During the German broadcast, only one member is
present taking care of the news segment and some bureau work. Other
parts of the programmes are repeats. The mailbag is cancelled for the
time being. The producers are expected to leave the building after the
broadcast. One might think that the situation at the transmitter site
is similar which would explain the additional scheduling errors
observed by others short wave listeners (Dr Hansjoerg Biener 24 August
2020)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565-CW, Aug 24 at 1408, JBA IDs only from HIFER beacon
K6FRC in Patterson CA. I check for this almost every morning, nor do I
anymore hear anyothers in the 13550-13570 ISM band, but K6FRC last
logged June 9, tho I did hear the 10-watt, 10-meter K6FRC/B on 28300
from Tracy on July 28; and July 2 when I see I typoed the frequency to
29300! The one on 13565 is notable whenever heard with publicized
power of only *1.8 milliwatts*! And I never hear it any other time of
day so can only wonder whether it`s always on or not (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. Correxion: 2210 and 2200 UT, not 2310 & 2300! I can`t wait
to resume standard time? Fixed:

``WORLD OF RADIO 2048 monitoring: confirmed first WRMI airing, Friday
August 21 at 2210 the 2200 on 9955, good into BSR-1 caradio on a
non-DXpedition a few statute miles north of Enid; no jamming
audible.``

Confirmed UT Monday August 24 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct --- but
0054 recheck, the transmitter is off! Unknown for how long.

Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 at 0130 & 0230 on WRMI 7780, VG S9+20 at
UTwente; also WRN webcast at 0130.

Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 ending at 0258 on WRMI 7780 after tip
from Walt Salmaniw, BC: ``I did note WOR on 5800 at 02:53 tune-in at
excellent level. 73, Walt`` --- surprise! the 0230-0300 block on 5800
is blank, unaccounted for all days of week on WRMI skedgrid. So
replaces 0300 UT Sun on 5800? Hope it stix. More change info below.

Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 from 0259.6 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5130,
S8-S9 at a Rochester NY KiwiSDR. BUT cuts off the air for 2 minutes as
I am listening, 0311*-*0313.

Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, unusually inaudible
where it`s aimed, at TWR Bonaire SDR, but S5-S7 at Rochester; 0338
check here, S7 to S9+10 but keeps fading down further to at least
S5.

Meanwhile, Jeff White replied to my request for some new times:
``Glenn: WOR 0130 UTC Thursday 5850 and 0330 UTC Tuesday on 5800,
effective immediately. Jeff``. So adding those to NEXTs:

1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE [NEW]
2100+UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5850 to NW [NEW]

Good but unfortunately this means the best broadcast across USA on
5850 will be the last airing of the week rather than the first, as I
am not inclined to change my produxion schedule to earlier than
Thursday afternoons.

** U S A. Minor DX-pedition to 35 km north of Enid on US 81 to carry
out AM & FM bandscans on caradio, Sunday afternoon Aug 23 from 2140
to 2215 UT:

750, at 2140 no KMMJ Grand Island NE, apparently still temporarily off
by STA pending sale. Has unusual L3 license, i.e. almost daytime,
direxional tangent west with 10.5 kW, but used to be JBA here; and
neighbor 880 KRVN is always audible daytime tnx to the Ogallala
Aquifer. However at 2208 I can detect a slow SAH of 64/min, slightly
over 1 Hz apart. The only others nearby are KSEO Durant OK, 220 watt
daytimer on the other side of the state, very difficult here; and KBNN
Lebanon, center of MO, 5 kW ND daytimer which I have heard several
times; unless KMMJ really be on but QRP like 1130 KLEY (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

1130, Aug 23 at 2142, I expect silence as KLEY Wellington KS, just
across from OK, has not been heard at Enid HQ for months, after
transmitter troubles, and suspected off for good. But now I have JBA
music, certainly not sportive KWKH Shreveport, which despite 50 kW ND
daytime does not reach this far some 500 km by groundwave. We drive a
few km further north, to about a km south of the US 64/60/81
intersexion, helpfully away from some powerlines, and hear at 2154 a
partial ID of ``point 3`` and rock song playing just past 2200; 2201,
``KLEY 1130 AM and --- 100.3 FM --- wellington.net -- The home of ---
sports, what capitol of the world``. [Enid disputes that!]

This is still a really tiny signal, vs many other further loud Kansans
like 1150 KSAL, 1280 KSOK. KLEY is licensed for 250 watts day, ONE
WATT night, and I can easily believe this *is* that one watt if not
whatever the exciter may rate. Their 100.3 FM translator, really
K262CQ, ``The Wave`` is what counts, and this much ittybitty AM to
simulcast keeps it legal. Anyway this makes KLEY 1130 quite a DX
target further away since I can`t even hear it inside Enid.

OTOH, note my report from 2019y: ``1130, Sept 20 at 1853 UT check,
KLEY Wellington KS is OFF again. Still off at 1705 UT check Sept 21.
It had been on since August 26 after a long hiatus since at least May
3`` --- another scenario is that it really has been totally off and
just barely turned back on now to keep its license before a full year
be elapsed. I had never heard it since then.

1157 & 1183, at 2203, IBOC noise is definitely ON from 1170 KFAQ Tulsa
at this time, blocking anything possible on 1160 & 1180.

1370, still no trace of KGNO Dodge City KS at 2205, which I have not
been able to detect in years, day or night, 5000/230 watts, and
suspect OFF but it continues to be listed as if active. It would be
nice if we had someone in Dodge to try to hear it, maybe QRP too? It
used to be easy to Enid at least SR/SS. I check 1370 whenever I am N/W
of Enid.

1440, gospel huxter in English, VP at 2205, must be KEXB University
Park (Metroplex) TX in its latest incarnation, Relevant Radio, barely
making it here with 50 kW daytime this high in band, not Topeka.

On FM, not much of interest and am running out of time, but:

105.7, at 2214 ``Classic Hits 105.7``, adstring and rock music --- and
same stuff on 106.1! but with one radio can`t tell whether
synchronized. 105.7 is 50/50 kW KRDR Alva, while 106.1 is weaker with
CCI from something else. Nearest ``classic hits`` format if not slogan
on 106.1 in WTFDA DB is 60/60 kW KYVZ Atwood KS, way up in the NW
corner beyond Colby. But 100 kW KXKU Lyons KS is closer, in between.
Other possible 106.1s in OK are KBZI 50/50 kW in Mooreland west of
here almost Woodward, with ``80s hits`` -- close enough to classic by
now? and KTGK 100/100 kW Owasso almost Tulsa, country (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. `Feminine Fusion` is an excellent show I have been following
on KUCO OKC 90.1 or webcast, Sundays at 2100-2200 UT -- usually a few
minutes late due to preceding programs overrunning. About classical
music composed or performed by women. I haven`t found an affiliate
list for it and it`s totally missing from publicradiofan.com --- which
I fear is not being updated, but it`s so huge that that would be a
full-time job? Searching out I have found a few other stations
carrying FF on Saturdays or Sundays including this one in
Philadelphia, UT Mondays 0200 in case we miss it on KUCO:
https://www.wrti.org/programs/feminine-fusion
Also WIAA and WXXI. More about it from the distributor:
https://exchange.prx.org/series/38388-feminine-fusion
where it seems you may listen to any of 100+ episodes. The KUCO
scheduling clashes with another all?-feminine show, `Marion`s Attic`
on WBCQ, and I bet neither program realizes that (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6135, Aug 24 at 1404, JBA talk as the 49mb is almost
outfaded here except for 6170 NZ; could this be anything but
MADAGASCAR long-path? I`ve asked Ron Howard (Glenn Hauser, OK WOR)

This report dispatched at 1700 UT August 24

** ALASKA. 9580, Aug 23 at 1451, English S7-S9 starting `Creation
Moment`, in KNLS English hour. What a pity any airtime be wasted on
that anti-scientific nonsense by this and other gospel huxter stations
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, continued from last report, of the Sat
Aug 22 broadcast of LRA36: by 1700 was down to S1-S3 via one Brazilian
SDR, still detectable past 1800; at 1902 I switch to another SDR which
is getting it better at S4-S7 as they are again talking about San
Martín and an escuela; 1944 recheck going from talk to music which
runs still past 2000+. No further chex, unknown when they closed
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Aug 23 at 1330: only JBA carriers with
flutter: 13835, 13160, 13130, 12880, 12500. Other WOOBs not checked as
Arnie Coro is imminent, see CUBA.

At 1447 I check the lower 9s only: JBA carriers 9155, 9170; but
Chinese on 9215 at S5-S8, 9255 at S5-S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13700 & 13740, Aug 23 at 1330, RHC fails to provide any
spurblobs, but seemingly live briefing in an echoey venue about
COVID-19 rates in leading countries, USA, Brasil, India, compared to
Cuba. Keeps running past 1335, outro as from a doctor in the public
health service; also mentioned meteorological events, i.e. the two
hurricanes, one of them named for a Cuban-American.

At 1340, `En Contacto` starts 5 minutes late, first the YL co-host
with platitudes, finally bringing up the fibre-optic link from Arnie
at home. QSL OTA to Uruguay and elsewhere; emergency nets on 2, 40 and
80 meters, but his almost-self-garbled lickety-split pace prevents me
froom copying the frequencies; Aug 22 was 90th anniversary of radio in
Cuba; propagation info; music fill until 1355, and then the medical
no-show. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 5800, UT Sun Aug 23 at 0300, routine check for WORLD OF
RADIO at a good WRMI time we have enjoyed for a few weeks --- but
instead, CUBAN NA plays and then Radio República! See my comments
under USA: WOR monitoring. Until now, RMI has brokered R.R. broadcasts
only via Issoudun, France on 9490, where the noise jamming also goes,
but those have been ending at 0300 during DST. Now they have another
hour, announced at 0356 as new frequency on Thursdays thru Sundays at
11pm-midnight = 0300-0400 UT Fri thru Mon. Not jammed yet, but this
will surely subject another WRMI frequency besides 9955 to that, and
by the shoddy Cubans not only during this hour or those days. 5800
goes off at 0400*. HFCC A-20 shows RMI via ISS registered at
0300-0500, but also Nauen at same time with NHK Japanese to ME, and
confirmed by UTWente monitoring as only the latter really on (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. 9670, UT Sun Aug 23 at 0400, Bill Tilford experimenting
with a 10 kW ND relay via Channel 292 of his FTIOM and UBMP. Into
Maine, propagation from Europe seems fine, e.g. 9420 Greece S7-S9. On
9670, hardly anything audible at UTwente over all-dark, minimum-MUF,
too-close path; via SDR in Maine he`s detectable at 0403 with
multi-lingual intro, but JBA VP S4-S5, unusable. 0440 recheck,
inaudible. He was hoping to serve North America; maybe better eastward
into the dayside. I reminded the 900 members of the WOR iog about this
at 0340 as imminent, but not a single other report received (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Aug 23 at 0608, JBA carrier presumed R.
Kiribati, with no other 9-kHz audible from Eurafrica (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** MALI. Posted to the WOR iog at 1853 UT Aug 22: ``Re: [WOR] Check
for Radio Mali on 5995 kHz. --- Of course 1850 UT Saturday is normally
the time for weekly English segment, right now. So far at 1852 only
African singing, via UTwente. Glenn`` and still past 1900 African
music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 9925, UT Sun Aug 23 at 0022, The Mighty KBC is
VP S2-S4, no good propagation this week. Assume they will revert to
5960 in September, none too soon, but no confirmation of that yet;
except HFCC registrations show the descent happening between Sept 5
and 6. via Nauen, Germany (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7254.9, Aug 23 at 0602, no signal from VON --- oh, cuts on
in progress at *0603, but JBM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. Saturday evening is supposedly prime-time for
pirates, but UT Sun Aug 23 at 0015, I find not a one in the 6.9s or
5.1s. So I am trying, and other evenings have been barren too despite
other specialized DXers reporting lots of them (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, Aug 22 at 2211 check, NO signal from VOT English to
us even at UTwente, instead weak signal from CNR1 Beijing site, which
is scheduled southward at 2025-0100 --- fortunately never hear any QRM
from that over here. Now I have missed two weeks of `Letterbox` and
hope to get around to listening to the Radio360 podcasts for Weds Aug
12 & 19 or Sats 15 & 22. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2048 monitoring: confirmed Sat Aug
22 at 2002 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, via KiwiSDR a few km
away in Warrenton, VG S8 about 4 minutes into so started circa 1958
instead of nominal 1930.

Also confirmed Sat Aug 22 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, newish time, S9+10 at
UTwente.

NOT confirmed UT Sun Aug 23 at 0300 on WRMI 5800. I wrote to Jeff
White: ``Hi Jeff, Well, that was a shock - Cuban NA and R República on
5800 at 0300 instead of WOR, no such thing on your skeds or website or
FB yet. If it`s one hour, maybe you can still run WOR at 0400? I`m
guessing they wanted to run past 0300 and 9490 France is unavailable
as NHK via Nauen is on it. Now, stand by for jamming on 5800 at this
and times beyond! And/or if you could find *any* time for WOR on 5850,

** VIETNAM [non]. 7315, Aug 23 at 0018, WHRI is S9+25 but JBM with
music, presumed VOV English relay; then bumps up to merely
undermodulated; also has Cuban pulse jamming splash all the way from
7335. People are speculating whether these relays continue after WBCQ
takeover; may depend on renewal or prolongation of contracts with
Encompass (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Aug 23 at 0023, WTWW-2 with hardsell Tedad, no
TONITO yet; 0035 recheck is underway presenting performance by someone
else, now deceased, ending at 0057 so started circa 0027 this week. I
immediately brought up the $ tereo webcast instead.

BTW, besides the degraded audio on 5085, it`s still always accompanied
by JBA spurcarriers circa 5072.1 & 5097.9. And this:

``I know WTWW on 5085 KHz has contained very noticeable audio
distortion for years. Sounds like a portable with weak batteries. It
has low-end punch, mind you, but is totally ruined with this annoying
distortion in the mix. If one uses narrower IF bandwidth filters, this
will not be so noticeable.

Ha, WTFK? I never got around to mentioning the WCSZ frequency, altho it should be obvious, but for the record: 1070.

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, Saturday August 22 at 1442, LRA36
already on with songs at S2-S4 via Brasil KiwiSDR; 1444 usual canned
ID for `Corazón Antártico` and phone, e-mail contact info. 1517 song,
1518 another ID; still going 1603 music, by 1700 down to S1-S3. Still
past 1735. JBA by 1748. No telling how much longer. Not really
readable now or earlier. We were expecting this to start at 1630 like
previous Saturdays, presumably replaying the Wednesday show; tnx to

** CANADA. 11232-USB, Aug 21 at 2352 selcall tones, and 2-way
mentioning maybe Lajes (Azores) but this is EiBi-listed as Trenton
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. Why not, check a different daypart than usual circa 1400 for
CNR1 jammers, Aug 21 at 2347, and there are a few on typical
frequencies: 13530 JBA vs CODAR, 13160 & 14850 JBA fluttery carriers,
14920 Chinese at S5-S7; none in the 15s, 16s, 10s or 11s (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Aug 22 at 1355-1400*; none in 16s; 15165

13150, 13130; 12190; more than JBA on 11170, 10870 S7, 10820.

Aug 22 at 1425: JBA on 10870, 11100, 11150, 11170; 11440 two JBA

** CUBA. 5055, Aug 22 at 0614, mixture of talk and music, NOT
AUSTRALIA! But leapfrog mixing product another 15 kHz beyond, of 5025
Rebelde over 5040 RHC English, the latter on later than usual, and
with same extreme modulation breaking up `Ed Newman` on both. 5055 is
S9+10; 5040 is S9+20/30; 5025 with good music modulation is also
S9+20/30. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. Both fundamentals
listed as Bauta site. There is no reverse leapfrog on 5010, luckily
for WRMI earlier. 0616 Rebelde YL ID and TC for 2:16 am (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Sat Aug 22 at 0605, no signal from VON, nor any on

``No information available`` for several; maybe mentions Congo,
Brazzaville. Still there at 0142 Aug 22 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** U S A. (6160, 7490), UT Sat Aug 22 at 0000, Area 61 webcast, which
otherwise is 5130 programming, is running late with `Old Tyme Radio`,
an Amos & Andy reproduxion episode by Ed Bolton, which used to be a
regular on WBCQ, and NOT on the ``proposed`` schedule we got, instead
of Superman, so will have to join `AAAWWW` late, as WTO theme has
already started on 7490 webcast. I listen more or less to whole hour
hoping for more info on the WHRI acquisition, but not much other than
waiting for the deal to close. Looking for engineers and operators in
Maine: pay is good but not much benefits, and cost of living is low,
good place if you like winter sports. Applicants will be interviewed
(remotedly?). Over the years some 50 expensive tubes have been
returned for rebuilding. 0020 sez quadri-casting tonight on 3265,
5130, 6160, 7490, 21 August YOOL 2020; and now it`s dark at this hour
as summer is latening, days shortening. 0022 A&A get into vicious
political rants totally anti-Democratic and pro-Trumpic. Democratic
states are Communist-controlled. Biden and Kamala are jokes. Need
mega-landslide for Trump. They go on to accuse Dems of elexion hijinx
which are really what the Trumpublicans are doing! 0035 phone call
finally from someone contradicting them, disappointed they are
ignoring the incredible misconduct and lies of Trump, complete failure
handling the pandemic. Angela shouts him down, while Allan accepts his
free-speech right to disagree. It`s Bryan in West Chester PA. 0050
into e-mails, about WHRI? Going to fix up the facility in Furman.
Dedicated to keeping SW alive at that 250/500 kW level. There are good
people at WHRI; and he keeps referring to ``Le-See-A``.

Here`s John Carver`s version:

``Tonight's show started on time on 7490 and a few seconds later on
5130 and 6160. Voice over during the theme song set the tone.
Something about rioting, looting, pillaging, cop shootings all brought
about by the Democrats. Allan and Angela in the studio along with some
sexy talk and then into a rundown of all the equipment in the studio.
Brief mentions of the MW and FM stations. Also another plea for
qualified engineers to help run the superstation. Then into full blown
political talk and Angela becomes animated. Among other things she
suggested that all Democrats be loaded on a pod and sent to Mars.

Phone call at 0035 from a gentleman attacking Trump's stand on the
Covid thing and his mishandling of the problem which sent Angela from
animated to agitated and a shouting match erupted between the caller
and Angela. Allan did his best to calm things down.

Reading of emails at 0050. First email asked about the purchase of
WHRI and Allan stated that the facility would be broadcasting a lot of
programming from WLC and that more details would be available later.
Allan stated that they had been getting a lot of positive emails about
the Old Time Radio show on 6160. Allan asked Angela to lead the
closing prayer this evening and she started but was cut off by the end
of the program at 0100. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. At 0428 UT Aug 22 I first posted this to several DX groups:

``WCSZ DX test from SC, OK to OK --- I am posting before reading
reports from anyone else about this. On R75 with E-W
longwire, already aimed in right direxion. 0357 UT Aug 22 tune-in to
usual jumble of presumed KNX, KFTI and more jumble. 0402 UT: suddenly
absolutely clear Morse code ID: VVV DE WCSZ, twice or was it thrice?
No voice IDs or any announcements heard so far. But none needed after
the above. 0404 UT: Handel`s Messiah, Hallelujah Chorus until 0410.
Then some other music, no ID heard but may have been lost in QRM. 0412
tune-out but may recheck later. Unknown how long test runs.

Sometimes atop, generally mixing with news/talk presumed KNX, and
country music presumed from KFTI Wichita which is low power {1 kW} at
night, but too close to here and always an annoyance since it`s
significantly off-frequency-minus. Now {on USB} I have been adjusting
the PBT to get rid of the LAH if not all of its modulation. Tnx for
the test. Pse QSL if possible.

New NRC AM Log says: U4 50000/1500; STA U1 2000/375 - tech issues. U4
means different direxional patterns day and night. But FCC AM Query
says ND day, direxional night. NRC Pattern Book 2013 shows ND day
circular pattern, I think, very crowded map with all those other 1070s
in the SE. So was this test really ND, and how much power at the
start? Until the next, Best of DX and 73 de Glenn Hauser, P O Box
1684, Enid OK 73702``

I did recheck a couple more times just as Morse IDs played again: VVV
DE WCSZ WCSZ WCSZ, at 0443.5 and 0459.5 UT. Later widely reported as
far as Norway, and Seattle --- but I bet not much closer to KNX. 1404
km = 873 stmi from Sans Souci SC to Enid; Greenville market.

The code IDs were a welcome surprise as earlier publicity said there
would be no such thing, nor sweep tones, etc. Test committee chairman
Les Rayburn in AL now says: ``The DX Test was operated by engineer Al
Hajny. His e-mail address is: alhajny@gmail.com Mr. Hajny has a
history of being very friendly to DX’ers. Let’s be respectful of that
relationship. He has not stated if he plans to verify reception
reports. I know he’s a busy guy, so if he doesn’t respond quickly,
please be patient (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7348-CW, or slightly less, Aug 22 at 0619 long string of
numbers in fast CW, but also some letters. Ends with K, but never
heard any DE and ID. Probably unrelated to this in EiBi:
