Claudio, at this hour VOA English via Botswana is scheduled on 15580 - it could be easy to mistake CRI for VOA with their American accent, unless you pick up on their slant. CRI English is listed then on 15590, however. Typo? 73, Glenn Hauser

Glenn Hauser logs September 17-18, 2022  View Printable Version
Sunday, September 18 2022

Logs
** CUBA. 6100, Sept 18 at 0637, RHC English is S9 of dead air; 6165
S9+10/20 just barely modulated = JBM; 6060 S9 and undermodulated, only
usable channel, 5040 off while 5025 Rebelde is on. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Sept 18 at 0712, not even a JBA carrier from
R. Kiribati, presumed regular Sunday night silence (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9830, Sept 17 at 2300, Die Stimme Türkiye opening
spurious German hour after IS and TS, not turned off after Englisch;
alleges 15350 which is the real frequency for German at 1130; also at
1730 on 9840. Sleepyop awakens and turns it off already at 2307*. Was
S9+55! into UTwente, and there remains a very weak JBA AM sync also at
+003 Hz, i.e. CNR1 Beijing site scheduled until 0100. Also uncovers
RTTY warble from NAU PR on USB only. Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE. As of 1930 UT Sept 18, the latest `Ukraine: Security
Issue` at http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/ua_security_issue is still dated
15.09. Forcing link changes to 16.09 and 17.09 get 404. Need to check
whether still updated daily at 0500 on UR1 via WRMI 7730 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2156 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
September 17 concluding at 2041.2 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+15 into
nearby SDR, so started way later than 1930v, circa 2012.

Also confirmed UT Sunday September 18 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10
into Maryland SDR; never a dull moment: siren intervenes for a few
seconds between ID and WOR start.

Also confirmed UT Sunday September 18 at 0330 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
about 10 minutes into so started circa 0320 UT, S8/S9 into Knoxville
SDR, S9+15 into nearby Warrenton MO SDR, both vs high storm noise
level = HSNL. Next:

2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW
0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW
0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW

1100 UT Wednesday Unique Radio webcast [5035/3210 USB suspended]
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330.15 approx., Sept 18 at 1508, WLCR/WBCQ English is on at
S7/9+10, perhaps a Sunday exception from usual contrary to scheduling
silence before and after 15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, Sept 18 at 1435, WRMI-9 is back on but VP after
missing yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5970, Sept 18 at 0639, RCM, WEWN still silent. Steven Luce
replied Sept. 16: ``Glenn, regarding WEWN on 5970: I did several
checks between 12 and 14 UT September 16, and it appears they are on
5970 continuously during that time span. Carrier cut at 1356; quickly
retuned to 12050 and found the IS already going. Nothing from WEWN on
5970 at a check just before 1100. I have not been hearing WEWN on 5970
during checks around 0300. I did hear them signing on at 0000 a couple
of weeks ago; might be worth checking 5970 during the 00 to 03 time
span to see if they have kept some of the evening schedule on SW.
Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 15610, Sept 18 at 1437, S9 of Arabish? talk = high
noise level. This was once all-day English frequency of WEWN, then
reduced not to start before 1900 as still in HFCC Sept 18; then gone
completely. Listed now at 14-15 is VOA Kurdish via BOTSWANA this hour
only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7932+, Sept 18 at 0636, still no signal from R. Vanuatu.
In the continuing absence of RV, note that a fundamental long
registered in HFCC but unused, is 2485, 10 kW at 10-19 UT. Some very
interesting possible harmonix of that, worth checking even before
1000: 4970, 7455, 9940, 12425, 14910, 17395 ...

Ron Howard reported: ``VANUATU[non-log]. 8620+, Radio Vanuatu,
checking 0830+ UT, no signal heard on any of the past or current
frequencies! We can only hope that they are working now on repairing
the xmtr! Yesterday (16th) I did some extensive scanning of various
frequencies after 0940+, when I found they were off the air, thinking
perhaps they had jumped to another frequency, but did not find them!``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9172.8 USB, Sept 18 at 0643, JBA 2-way in Spanish (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
