Friday, April 09 2021
** CUBA. 6040-6080, April 9 at 0602, RHC 6060 transmitter is not only burying its English under big humbuzz, but splashing out over this range, e.g. ruining 6070 CFRX. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
5040 & 6000 & 6100 are off, but 6165 remains with English at S9+10/20 tho undermodulated; not 6145 this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13505-trace, 13570, 13635; 13765, 13830, 13895, 13960-trace, April 9 at 1350, RHC spurblobs with F# tones at approx. 65 kHz intervals out to 4th order from source 13700-AM at S9-S4 weaker than // 13740 which is clean. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, April 9 at 1358, this RHC is off; 1500 recheck is on at S9+20/30 with good mod // 11760. Aoki says 15140 from *1400 but EiBi from *1100. SAWA? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA [and non]. Re this: ``UNIDENTIFIED. 15340, April 3 at 1705, I`m checking an A-21 frequency HFCC-registered for RMI via France, q.v.: there is a JBA carrier, but it`s surrounded by DRM-like noise, where nonesuch is scheduled. Weak, and I can`t get any remote to lock and decode it as DRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)`` i.e.: ``15340 1700 1800 48W Mul 127 250 1234567 DTWT [Alameda BF?]`` Ivo Ivanov reported on April 4: ``Dimtse Wegahta Tigray Voice of Dawn Tigray, 1700-1800 on 15340 ISS 250 kW / 127 deg to EaAf Tigrinya + white noise jamming`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2081) ** HAWAII. Re the fonetix I heard ending the :50 minute announcement on WWVH, I check 10000 again April 8 at 0550: it`s about MARS activity on ``60`` meters, foneticizing website DOD.ORG. How is it that of all USG/military activities, this merits time on WWV/H? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INDONESIA. When checking HFCC for Romania A21 sked, I hit RRI instead of RRO, and come up with this TOTALLY IMAGINARY sked for Indonesia, including 3325 relay via Playa-de-Pals, the long-destroyed R. Liberty site on the coast of Spain! Makes HFCC a laughingstock: http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A21&broadc=RRI 53 entries; language for all, long-dead domestic sites is English! Why not?! These are presumably sprinkled thruout the by-frequency A-21 schedule; beware! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 26, April 9 at 1508 UT, KOTV Tulsa on its repacked channel ex-45; with level 1-2-3 tropoblobs between Tulsa and here, barely decodes via my broken antenna for ID but not audiovideo: 6-1 KOTV-HD; 6-2 KQCW-SD; 6-3 NewsOn6. Also BAD signals on 15 and 21. Now both Wichita and Tulsa are on some same channels, which would have been unthinkable in the Analog Era. Rabbitears.info shows the same KOTV trios also on RF 19 in McAlester OK, RF 30 in Caney KS, low powers 1 kW ERP; same callsigns?? https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=station_search&callsign=kotv I would check the other major reference, W9WI.com but even ``created 4-9-2021`` it`s still Canadian-only. FCC TV Query calls them all KOTV-DT as ``Tulsa`` not mentioning far McAlester or Caney; only the coördinates imply them! (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 9660, April 9 at 0554, RRI closing 0530 English, S9-S7 citing further English times and frequencies. First time noticing this right next to Brasil 9665-. Springy propagation improving? No, HFCC shows NOT supposed to be on 9660 at 0530-0600, rather 0500-0530 French, and 0630-0700 Arabic! So stayed on an extra semihour? 0530 English supposed to be only on 6015, 7325 and 17760; one of which probably DRM, not specified at http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A21&broadc=RRO See also INDONESIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9395, April 9 at 0553, TOMBS via WRMI, only poor S4-S6; something on 9455 JBA carrier, presumably SMTV. WRMI skedgrid still dated April 2, the day before BS died, still shows him on 6 frequencies during the 05-06 hour: 5850, 5950, 7570, 7730, 7780, 9395 --- but 7570 and 7780 are still gone. Not sure at what hour they QRT, but TOM had been starting at 04 on 7780; was continuous 00-11 on 7570. The latter jamfree bigsig beamed NW across America could/should be re-occupied with significant evening programming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN [and non]. 17855, April 7 at *1800, REE is S9 here but deep fades and bound to expire in an hour or so; `24 Horas` domestic newscast all about new regulations coping with COVID-19 in Spain. Poor as it may be, is the SSOB, vs JBA carriers on adjacent 17850, 17720, 17700, i.e. per HFCC: 17850 RFI ISS; 17720 AWR Nauen? supposed to finish Oromo at 1800; 17700 something from Woofferton, World`s Last Chance in English per Aoki; no longer VOA NC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Alfredo Cotroneo advises me that IRRS will no longer broadcast WOR Mondays at 1800 UT on 7290, replaced by something else. A new time for WOR has now been found, SATURDAYS at 1800v on 7290 --- this means listeners will get more timely info on the program produced late UT Thursdays. Tnx, Alfredo. In addition: ``Here is the new schedule of WOR on IRRS: FRI 2030 UT on 594 kHz + streaming (*) SAT 1800 UT on 7290 kHz+ 594 kHz + streaming SAT 2330 UT streaming only SUN 2100 UT 594 kHz (*) this should provide best propagation to Europe on MW. It will be even better when we move to 918 kHz, which will be less noisy.`` WORLD OF RADIO 2081 contents: Alaska, Andorra non, Angola, Antarctica, Austria, Brasil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cuba, East Turkistan, Eritrea and non, France, Germany, India, Italy and non, Korea South, México, Netherlands, New Zealand, North America, Papua New Guinea, Perú, Russia and non, South Carolina non, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Vanuatu, Zambia; propagation outlook [apologies for some snags in the original recording] WOR 2081 is available as of 0139 UT Friday April 9, 2021 (mp3 stream) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2081.m3u (mp3 download) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2081.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. The shortwave broadcasts should be: 0130 UT Friday WRMI 5850 to NW, 7780 to NE 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 1801vUT Saturday IRRS 7290 14580 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy [ex-Mon] 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400] 2200vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Randy Stewart, Battlefield MO, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com Not necessarily in US funds, and says, ``Glenn, it's about time I contributed to your (virtually) lifelong efforts on behalf of DXers!`` One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. First airings confirmed UT Fri April 9 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5850 VG direct; 7780 VG via SDRs NE of FL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, April 7 at 2128, WRMI in French about a coup d`état, interviewee with heavy African? accent vs pure-French interviewer, pause for brief ID in English as Radio for Peace International, back to French; as scheduled Wednesdays at 21-22 preceding WOR at 2200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, April 9 at 0551, presumed R. Vanuatu X3 is JBA, yet the OSOB, therefore also the SSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1745 UT April 9

Thursday, April 08 2021
** CUBA. 6145, April 8 at 0541, RHC English back here instead of 6165 instead of 9700, S9+20 but undermodulated. Now = UM on 6100 S9/+10, 6000 S9+20/30, and 5040 S9+20/30 --- but 6060 is dead air at S9+10 with some hum only instead of big humbuzz; progress? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13700, April 8 at 1430, RHC Spanish back here during `Sonido Cubano` music, S9+10/20 but no spurs and not on 13740 either where the spurunit appeared yesterday. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EAST TURKISTAN. 13710, April 8 at 1455, CRI S9+10/S7 with flutter, in American-English chat, i.e. Kashgar scheduled this hour only, to be replaced by Sa`udi Qur`an at 1457. From the land of ChiCom imperialist persecution, even genocide against native Uyghurs and other Moslems (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 15720, April 8 at 0534, JBA carrier no doubt RNZP, far too late to be useful here instead of 9, 11 or even 13 MHz channels; now scheduled until 0558, but Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, has been hearing it running even later until 0645* instead of 11725 from *0559 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6970-AM, April 8 at 0546, JBA nothing but talk, sounds like a real station. Search for //s: not TOMBS on WRMI or WWCR; not any of my 3 Enid locals 960, 1390, 1640. No big 7 MHz signals which could leapfrog here. 6970 does not compute as any MW harmonic either. I notice that 6970 happens to be 2 x 3485, where Gander VOLMET is, but USB of course and not // either. It`s S9 but so is the local noise level, so mostly unreadable. At 0600 fades up a bit, 0603 with anti-Biden talk, denouncing ``far left`` so I bet it`s Fox News Channel TV audio. YES, I soon match it to FNC on cable 48 here, a few seconds ahead of that during Sean Hannity repeat. [BTW, our Suddenlink office was closed down yesterday for state tax violations!] Also occasional machine-gun rat-a-tat-tat QRM, utility I assume, tho the paranoid might conclude it be jamming. Later I check HF Underground and find NO logs of it tonight as there is hardly any pirate activity or DXing this late at night; but FNC has been reported several times before on 6970, in full daytime, most recently January 26 at 1755 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed April 7 at 2126, REE JBA carrier on so-called North American service; 15520 to ME backwards is better but still poor S3-S5; 11940 to S America best at S5-S8; 11685 to Africa JBA vs RTTY 11687.5 except with LSB tuning. By 2158, 11940 is fair-poor S4-S5 as token M/W/F English is about to begin (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 7 at 2158, VOT IS is JBA vs RTTY CCI; still JBA at 2226 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2080 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday April 7 at 2100 on WBCQ 7489.922, offset -78v Hz as measured by Virginia SDR in SAM mode, S9/+20; while simul on WRMI 7780 is S9+10 but undermodulated in comparison. Also direct to here at 2125 check, 7490- is JBA S5, 7780 JBA S4-S8. Also confirmed Wed Apr 7 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20 generally over pulse jamming, same by 2226 recheck. Confirmed final repeat, UT Thursday April 8 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, good S9/+10 into VA KiwiSDR. Next WOR 2081 should be ready by early UT Friday April 9 for first airings at 0130 on WRMIs, 5850 & 7780. BTW, this week, April 5, the Monday 1801 broadcast on IRRS 7290, Bulgaria? Romania? was also heard on X2 = 14580 via UTwente SDR, reports Ralf Ladusch, Germany in A-DX via Wolfgang Büschel. I`m adding 14580 to my WOR schedules (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, Ron Howard, CA, replies to my previous logs: ``Hi Glenn, Clearly the propagation conditions change a great deal for 11835 reception; changing on a daily basis. April 8 (Thursday), checked 11835, from 0451 to 0705 UT. At tune in there was certainly only one station being heard (R. Vanuatu harmonic), with no trace at all of CNR2; at 0500, no hint of time pips from CNR2. About 0545, started to hear CNR2 fading in; 0600, clear China time pips and RV extremely weak (totally unusable) underneath; CNR2 continued to gain in strength, while RV got harder to hear underneath. 7890 and 3945, both unheard. Normally RV does start the news about one minute or so after the hour. Their intro is indeed always with the same theme music; consisting of indigenous horns and drums, making for a very unique sound; ending the news with a different theme music. Ron`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1651 UT April 8

Wednesday, April 07 2021
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, April 7 at 1530, no signal from RNASG/LRA36, checked via Iceland, Bonaire SDRs as I can`t connect to any of those in Brasil. Suspect it`s really AWOL this Wednesday, or maybe already dumped off air early. No other reports of it have appeared yet today, not even from Manuel Méndez, Spain. Try Saturday as early as 1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15730, April 6 at 2221, no RHC here, but is on 15370 distorted and squealing, S9+20/25; and nothing on 13 MHz band. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 11880, April 6 at 2224, S3-S8 undermodulated music, presumed RHC when French is scheduled; at 2258-2300* music to dead air to shutoff just when English is supposed to start. QSY or forget it? No chance to search all bands for it elsewhere, which was fruitless before. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 11850, April 6 at 2225, RHC S5-S6 and undermodulated Spanish, along with JBA parasite carriers 11840 & 11860. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6000 & 6100 off, 6060 S9+20 big humbuzz over English; 6165 S9+20 lite hum and undermodulated, 5040 off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13246-trace, 13318, 13388, 13459 vs CODAR, 13527, 13598, 13669; 13811, 13882, 13953 all approx., not in the order logged, April 7 from 1359, extremely distorted FMish spurblobs with F# tone, all in the *wrong* places since they are obviously coming out of 13740 instead of 13700 which is not on air. 13740-AM itself is undermodulated during music. Intervals are about 71 kHz apart. 1439 recheck: spurs audible around 13596, 13668, 13812-trace; while 15140 fundamental is squealing. Something`s always wrong at RHC. As I have long suspected, RHC swaps transmitters/sites at will, yet some loggers are always specifying Bejucal, Bauta or Quivicán as if they know for sure. Latest Aoki/NDXC shows: 13700 Bauta at 14-16, 13740 Bejucal at 12-15 (& 22-05). But A-21 EiBi now available shows both as b for Bauta, not be for Bejucal: 13700 at 13-15 and 13740 at 11-15 (& 22-05). Incredibly, neither of them lists any of these horrible spurs -- but then their intervals vary widely. And now, also their source-frequency, obviously one single transmitter with this defect. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA [non]. 17545, Wed April 7 at 1537, zero signal from Bayto Yaikl via France, direct or via remotes in India, Bonaire; Kuwait not available. So far no luck since A21 began of hearing this Wed & Sat 1530 broadcast brokered by RMI so suspect kaput. Only trace of a signal on 16m is 17630 = CRI Mali. But MUF is not totally down as I`m hearing one Utah ham on ``17m``, see U S A (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** HAWAII. 10000, April 7 at 0250, WWVH tail of announcement spelling something fonetikaly; what`s that? Need to catch it another hour. No WWV audible at this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11530, April 7 at 1446, assertive YL sounds more like Türkish than Kurdish, and we know Dengê Welat utters both languages, fluttery S9-S5, and no second jammer signal audible here nor on alternate 11540. Except for CUBA & non, 11530 is the SSOB. EiBi shows DW on 11530 switching from PRIDNESTROVYE to FRANCE not until 1600, with ``anti-Kurdish tape`` from Emirler only until 1500 on 11540. Aoki, on the contrary, shows DW, 11530 going from PRIDNESTROVYE to FRANCE at 1500, with ``TRT Radio Recep Erdogan`` on 11540 at 0500-2100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7570, April 7 at 0241, this WRMI is off again as TOMBS is phasing out? 7780 JBA carrier, but BS still blasting out of the grave on 7730, and 7490- WBCQ. April 7 at 0557: 7570 & 7780 are off again, BS still on WRMIs 7730, 9395, 5850, 5950; also WWCRs 5890, 4840 and squealy 3215 as he attempts to sing. 9955, April 7 at 1449, WRMIs 9955 and 9455 are off instead of BS, still on 9395 and WWCR 9980. The WRMI skedgrid http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIgrid still has not been updated to delete the ex-BS blox, obviously now no accident (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, further chex April 6 of REE`s too-high-if-on-the- air-at-all NAm frequency. Here at 2218 during Tue Sefarad show but really speaking castellano, JBA carrier, while 15520 is good S6-S7; 11940 S5-S8; 11685 S3-S7. REE forces us to tune off-beam channels in order to hear it at all. 17855, April 7 at 1809, direct today is JBA already and so is 15520, while at 1823, the other two, 11940 & 11685 are JBA carriers. Strike out, but 17855 is probably well-heard in Outer Space (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 6 at 2220, VOT reads S5-S7, no RTTY, but I think the RTTY carrier is still on causing a fast SAH; undermodulated and unusable. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler, awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 18140-USB, April 7 at 1540-1608+, when hardly anything is on the 17 MHz broadcast band, at least one ham is heard on 18 MHz, W7YO, lengthy ragchew with never-audible KB4OIF -- I think, as fonetix never applied. Says he had ear surgery in Dec removing inner cartilage, and is just now recovering. He`s 67 and concerned with ``end-of-life`` tasks, such as building towers and antennas while he still can climb. ARRL FCC lookup shows: ``GURNEY, GLENN M, W7YO, BLANDING, UT 84511``. This probably a bit of HF sporadic E, distance only 645 miles, so nothing to do with lack of F2 TA propagation. Seems familiar: yes, I logged him last year: ``18131.778-USB, June 6 at 2049, W7YO is the OPSOB (only phone station on band), Glenn running 100 watts from the 4-corners area...` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2080 monitoring: not confirmed Wed Apr 7 at 1030 on WRMI 5850 as I was totally asleep; did anyone hear it? Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Benn Kobb, Arlington VA, for a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, April 7 at 0558, one signal with W&M talk, goes right thru hourtop and 0600.7 a bit of music, news theme? and more talk. S2-S4. Again I think it is R. Vanuatu X3 despite co-channel CNR2 from China, which I assume would have a ToH timesignal and break, right? Also a JBA carrier on 7890 X2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1934 UT April 7

Tuesday, April 06 2021
** BRAZIL. 9664.914, April 6 at 0625, Voz Missionária is S7-S4 with music, frequency wavering slightly as I measure it. Except for WRMI, WBCQ, it`s the SSOB.
9818.823, April 6 at 0620, JBA carrier, presumably R. Nove de Julho, and no other Brazilians on 31m except 9664.914, which is *much* stronger, implying that 9dJ be underpowered. Both ZYE890 and ZYE971 nominally 10 kW per WRTH 2021. Occasionally I hear 9630v at night, and one other, 9550 is sometimes reported at other dayparts, but these still in WRTH 2021 must be long gone: 9675, 9695, 9725 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6165, April 6 at 0235, RHC English, instead of alternate 6145; 6060 nothing but big humbuzz. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 6100, April 6 at 0610, RHC final English repeat is OFF. So is 6000. Still ON are 6165, VG S9+30, and 6060 S9+10/20 but still with big humbuzz only. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7780 & 7570, April 6 at 0614, these TOMBS frequencies of WRMI all-night are OFF the air. Looks like QRT of BS is already impacting, less Overkill; still VG on 7730, 5850, 5950, 9395. WRMI skedgrid still shows them all, so possibly the two be off for some other reason. Bishop Bob Biermann, sort of with WRMI, says to the WOR iog: ``Being that Brother Stair has paid in advance a month or more at most stations, you will keep hearing him until the money runs out. If he paid for April, then you have 25 more days, if he paid even more (which he sometimes does), even longer. I would guess his “Board of Directors” will have to make that decision, depending if people keep sending money to his compound`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 6 at *1755:10, REE carrier on with IS, managing to run it two days in a row! I`m on Alexandria VA SDR for east-coast reception then compared to my own in Deep North America. At outset, S4-S7 at Alexa, S5-S8 here. 15520 to ME, so off the back to here and Alexa, is already on air from 1500, now with silly ballgame or hyper sports report; E Hemisphere frequencies start and end 3 hours earlier on weekdays. It`s S4-S7 here too. At 1758 schedule announcement. 1800 one pip timesignal, time check as 8, 7 en Canarias, and ``24 Horas`` news program. At Alexa, 15520 at S5-S7 is already much better than 17855. Alexa at 1816: 15520 poor S5-S7, 17855 S7-S8; but by 1818, 17855 is fading out, while 15520 is S9. At 1844 here, 17855 is S7-S9 but noisy, roughly equal to 15520; while 11940 for S America is much weaker. By 1955 here, 17855 is JBA carrier, and 15520 VP. Already by 2000, we need REE to be on lower bands aimed thisaway, 13, or 11, and before much longer, say 2200-0200*, 9 MHz. The registered NAm azimuth with 200 kW is 290 degrees, which hits the continent around Walterboro SC; but CIRAF zone targets are for all of NAm and Caribbean except for C & W Canada, Alaska, and Greenland (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, April 6 at 1420, HIFER beacon K6FRC is JBA, and fades up a bit to BA, nothing but call repeating, from Patterson CA. No variety whatsoever in programming, but with alleged 1.8 milliwatts only, any and every reception is notable. Once again, I never hear this at any other daypart and wonder if like any beacon should, it be constantly transmitting? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2080 monitoring; next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Benn Kobb, Arlington VA, for a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800, April 6 at 0613, S9+20 open carrier, surely WRMI-10 transmitter, supposed to be OFF the air 0430-2200 except daytime TOMBS Saturdays only. Every so often I find this on air in nightmiddle, why? Test or misprogrammed? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also SOUTH CAROLINA [non] ** VANUATU. 11835, April 6 at 0628, JBA ``island music`` I would not expect to hear from China`s CNR2, so presumed R. Vanuatu, 3 x 3945; S3-S5 better than usual JBA carrier. 0631 announcement when I almost hear Vanuatu mentioned? Still going past 0641+, only one signal. As I pointed out before, now in A21 confronts QRM from high-power China fundamental, but that seems to be in regular Tuesday-only siesta after 0600. Hardly anything else on 25m, e.g. China. Nothing audible now on 7890 = RV X 2. I still think I heard only RV, but a contradictory report from Ron Howard, CA, to the WOR iog: ``CHINA / VANUATU. 11835, random monitoring on April 6 (Tuesday), from 0510 to 0705; CNR2 dominating the whole time over Radio Vanuatu (harmonic); CNR2 didn't close down at 0600, as they did last week; by 0615, started fading in of RV on 7890, with 3945 not heard; at 0701, could make out the distinctive start of the RV news underneath CNR2``. Of course to here more so than to CA, RV has a lower-latitude advantage (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2034 UT April 6

WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST by Alan Roe, April 5
Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update. https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) UTC offset notations updated for DST changes in New Zealand 2) USA - World Harvest Radio: Removed links to SW (frequencies, programmes, live streaming). Retained link to home page for now. Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be in May. Best wishes and 73 Alan ** CUBA. Correct number of the AER DX report on RHC En Contacto April 4 was 169, not 569; if always monthly, that = 14+ years (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** CUBA. RHC check at 0455 UT April 5: 6060 Spanish with humbuzz, 6100 Spanish with squeal, 5040 good in Spanish; 6165 // 6000 music presumed English service. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY. 11390-USB, April 5 at 1642, Marconi Radio International during publicized broadcast with 250 watts; very marginal via UTwente SDR but I leave it there rather than fishing around for better Kiwis. S5 is the noise level and MRI about the same; a song at first; 1643 a 4+1 time?signal and ID in English; a few notes of ``Wheels``, ``playing more music at the weekends`` [sic]; 1645 Italian announcement; 1650 almost fadeout, music. 1711 mentions R. Aparecida in Portuguese, a DX segment clip? Then some Italian; clip of RHC in Spanish; 1715 music; 1724 talk and music; 1728 fade up for ID in Italian with piano chords IS, then English ID a few times looping and apparently off 1730 as sked, tho JBA traces of algo a bit longer (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. Checking the RRI 2030-2100 English to N America, April 5, *2027 IS via Alexandria SDR is good on both 13650 and 11850. Here at 2043 however, 11850 is JBA carrier and 13650 is JBA. By 2058 RRI is off but there`s a big OC on 11850, no doubt CUBA. It may well be on earlier blocking those ex-Commies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 5 at 2025, REE has managed to get its North American frequency running again after a week AWOL! I proceed to monitor it and the others the rest of the afternoon, since I have feared it wouldn`t propagate until 2230, let alone 0200* as scheduled. Gaisma.com says today`s sunset at Madrid, near Noblejas, was 2044 CEST = 1844 UT. Of course maybe an hour later for signals to the west thru the critical first refraxion point, before MUF drop. First, via the Alexandria VA SDR for a good idea of how it reach the east coast, bound to be better than into deep North America OK. Presumably started at 1800 when I was busy monitoring WOR on IRRS. At 2025 tune-in, 17855 is S9+10, good. By 2047 has faded to S8-S9. 2102, down to S6-S4. 2110, S5-S4 now fighting the band noise level. 2113 about gone! but presumably still transmitting. Here into my R75: at 2042, 17855 is S8-S5, BUT 15520 aimed away from us is much better already, S9/+10. 11940 for S America is almost as good, S8-S9. Alexandria obs of the others: At 2058, 15520 is S9/+5, already much better than 17855 S7-S4. By 2135, 11940 surpasses 15520, and BTW still inaudible on 17855 and ex-9690. By 2143, 15520 has faded out, leaving 11940. By 2157, 11940 remains, better than 11685, the African frequency I had not checked before, way off-beam and vs 11687.5 RTTY. 11940 still audible at 2200 for timesignal and starting token English on Monday. Alison says after some news items, feature will be on the 275th anniversary of artist Fsco. Goya, but even this is fading down and out by 2203. Back to my own rx: 11940 has held up better here, S9/+10 at 2211; Goya feature finally starts at 2212 by another YL announcer, but soon fade-out of the last frequency lasting. If they were on 9 MHz, like 9690 by now, the 2200 M/W/F English would surely still propagate as the MUF continues to fall. Those of us who have been listening to SW for a few years or 60+, have a feel for Propagation 101, as what I have monitored above should be obvious and predictable, but not to REE frequency management. Or they could have checked the WRTH 2021 page 43 for the table of Most Suitable Frequencies: From Europe to E North America in March-April 2021: 15-23 UT 15 MHz, 23-03 UT 9 MHz; same to W North America: 16-20 UT 15 MHz, 20-24 UT 11 MHz, 00-04 UT 7 MHz. NEVER 17 MHz! Central North America? Who cares (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 5 at 2159 I can hear the VOT IS via Virginia SDR but fighting the RTTY. At 2204 it`s useless with the two adding up to S9. Something`s always awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2080 monitoring: confirmed on IRRS 7290 via UTwente, Monday April 5, modulation cutting on at 1800:49 as WOR opening with theme is already in progress, same as happened last week, by misprogrammed automation? Then I lunch, but seems intact until ending at 1829:30, some music and finally IRRS ID and contact info, Feature Story News. I was monitoring earlier from 1750 when there was nothing on 7290 but CNR in Chinese, music, S7 with splash. *1757 IRRS open carrier with some hum, but China still audible under, with 5+1 timesignal at 1800, and CNR1 theme, but I don`t think it stayed on until 1805 as alleged. By the time WOR starts JIP, ACI splash has abated, finding nothing closer than 7300 with Iran in German, so LSB or narrow synch tuning minimises that; Iran quits at 1820 anyway. Next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Benn Kobb, Arlington VA, for a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7489.983V, Monday April 5 at 2300, WBCQ with semirepeat of `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot` 25 hours after original full airing, but missed most of it since thru no fault of my own it conflicts with WORLD OF RADIO on the other WBCQ, 6159.93, Sunday at 2200; even if it be last week`s edition. UB doesn`t publicize this airing much but I often find it more convenient. This week starts with music from Solomon Islands, at 2318, ``This Land is Your Land`` with choir and bamboo tuned pipes, to be viewed on his site at disgraced FB. More music to come from Tonga and Vanuatu. Signal noticeably improves at 2325 to S9+10, but chopped off at 2330 for ID and *spot commercial* for Peacock, newish streaming service of NBC. Spot ads are extremely rare on US SW stations, no doubt hard to sell; have heard one or two occasionally on WRMI; and into Camp Constitution Radio on WBCQ. Did CCR have anything to do with the Peacock adjacency, or does it run at random, or BCQ choice? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1540.200, April 5 at 0503 UT, WKVQ still making big het here; 1319.715, April 5 at 0504 UT, detectable het from WCOG still here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Here`s my latest strategy to view `CBS Sunday Morning`: timer-record it on KWTV; if awake, check to be sure they haven`t shunted it to KSBI. Anyway, primarily watch it at: https://www.cbsnews.com/sunday-morning/ as I did this week April 5 of the April 4 edition, after which I can re-use my own back-up tape of it. The website playback was correct and OK, except went into incessant buffering two or three times, but after noting the timer, refreshed and picked it up where left off. This week totaled 64 instead of 62 minutes, all commercials excised, but adding 2 minutes to the closing nature segment, more than ever goes on the CBS air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search April 5 at 0457, early enough for NW & SW Europe still to skywave: 531, 558, 576, 585, 612(2), 639(2), 684, 693, 738, 774(2), 837, 855, 882, 891, 909, 1053, 1089, 1125(2), 1134, 1152(2), 1215, 1296(2), 1305(2). Also 1710(2), likely domestic. (2) = at least two carriers beating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0118 UT April 6
