Sunday, March 07 2021
** CUBA. 13629 & 13771 approx., March 7 at 1510, JBA FMish spurblobs since source 13700-AM is very weak only S7-S8 vs S6 noise level; while 13740 still on but spurfree is very strong. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FRANCE. Correxion to last report: the Signal to Noise Ratio is of course in dB, not kHz, fixed: 9880-9885-9890-DRM, so I do, March 6 at 2330: Rochester NY Kiwi SDR, no DRM detected; UTwente can hear DRM noise in AM mode but too weak; Bonaire decodes intermittently at SNR +/- 14 dB, S9-S8; displays same parameters as 11630 above (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SWEDEN. 6200, 6130, 6035, March 7 at 0503, no signals on publicized or alternate frequencies for R. Nord Revival, Sala, tuning via Carnow, Ireland SDR; still nothing at 0543. There was conflicting info whether to start at 0000, or 0500 with two hours partly in English. Possibly on now but above pre-sunrise MUF. Not expecting anything direct either but final check here at 0654 gets nothing. Supposed to last until 23 UT Monday March 8, or 24? So plenty more chances to try. Many further reports overnight to the WOR iog: Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, March 7: ``Hi Glenn, nothing on all the three frequencies here in Lugo, checking between 0545 to 0700. Neither anything via SDR Kiwi receivers in Northern Europe too`` Roger in Germany at 0709 March 7: ``Right now tested via KIWI SDRs in the direction of sunrise, nothing here either. However, a googling with Swedish keywords brought a result. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Radio-Nord-Revival-144438508950612/ Just heard on the Stream ID in Swedish and English, with mention of the SW frequencies`` Ydun Ritz, Denmark at 0723: ``According to nordx groups.io there are technical problems. 73s Ydun`` Mike Barraclough, UK, at 1106 UT: ```Posted 1053, presume CET, today on their blog: ``Unfortunately the SW transmitters at Sal are giving trouble so we have not yet been able to come on the air. Bernt is busy troubleshooting and hopefully the problem will be solved soon. We will be active on 6200 kHz as soon as we possibly can.`` Mike``` Ydun Ritz at 1112 UT: ``Online now; reported heard in northern Denmark an hour ago. 73s Ydun`` -- I guess she means now, on SW Zacharias Liangas, Thessaloniki, Greece: ``Nord revival: Seen a message in their web page above and re checked N signal in my city. Sudden restart at 1115 via Kaustinen kSDR with S7 with old of 60s. This SDR is suffering with BPL in the band. Also on SM2GT kSDR with S10/6QRN or -70/92 dbm. Mostly talks At 1123 with old pop songs in (50s 60s??). Gong at 1128 with ID?? Loftansa sfarar/Nord revival with ID at 1129 and talks in English. Again no signal in my city`` Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria: ``Good signal on 6200 kHz at 1130 UT via SDR Joensuu/Karelia, Finland`` roger at 1140: ``Weak S5 signal in Central Germany at 6200 kHz, more likely 1 kW. Broadcast not the same // as the web stream. foF2 in Northern Germany 4.5 MHz, i.e. a skip zone of at least 500 km and certainly hardly any reception in Sweden itself. roger`` All the above replies on the WOR iog; these from bdxc-news: ``1155 UT: 6200 weak on Barney's webSDR in Bedford 15 miles from me, too much local noise to hear it on my Eton E5 here. Very good signal on an SDR in Gotland, Sweden. Mike`` Barraclough Alan Pennington at 1309: ``Not audible here in southern England in Caversham either. If I remember rightly from previous Radio Nord Revival transmissions, reception in UK is better early evening on 49mb? Good reception on the kiwisdr at Umeå in NE Sweden though. 73, Alan`` Nick Rank at 1612: ``Radio Nord audible at the moment with me. English ID at 1605 UT, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to write it all down! SIO 343 at best. Seems to be better with sync. det. on USB (on 6200 kHz) 73s. Nick. Buxton. Sony ICF2001D & long wire/ATU`` And direct from Herman Content: ``Read my posting on the url link down under here. https://radionordrevival.blogspot.com/2021/03/transmitter-troubles-at-sala.html -- Groeten van (Is Dutch for "Greetings from") Herman Content`` viz.: ``Herman Content (Gent, Belgium) 7 mars 2021 17:56 I did tune on 6200 on a Icom IC-R8500 but my ant is not that good but can hear weak signals and had a lot of QRM. The noise was S7 and QSB some times fade out. But I did hear the Station. 73 from Herman Content , Gent - Belgium. PS Let hope it will be better on Monday? (49 mb was and is not much open here)`` Herman Content (Gent, Belgium) 7 mars 2021 18:07 [1707 UT] At 17h00 UT - 6200 is now blocked by the BBC on 6195 kHz (here in Belgium and even kiwi receivers Norway and Sweden.)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 6125, March 7 at 0445, VOT English huge signal, mostly music fill, via Carnow, Ireland KiwiSDR, noticed as ACI when checking 6130 for R. Nord Revival, Sweden special, zilch. VOT IS keeps playing until 0500 and then opening Malay! which is supposed to go eastward on 17530. VG S9 signal continues on 6125 past 0545, so the whole hour is going out on the wrong frequency, wrong beam, as Bandung SDR is getting nothing on 17530 at 0515. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2076 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday March 7 at 0413 already in progress and ending at 0438 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, so started early circa 0407. Via KC/MO SDR beyond local range, noisy S9+15 and even with LSB co-channel QRhaM -- give us a break! Next: 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1901 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a MO to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. The same address for a check in US funds on a US bank One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily US funds (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. eQSL received from latest TRSW via WRMI 5950, Sunday March 7 at 0200-0300, tnx!: https://www.w4uvh.net/TRSW_LadiesofTexasMusicTribute_eQSL_WRMI_Hauser.pdf Or #115 via http://www.worldofradio.com/QSL.html with this reply: ``Ahoy Glenn - Third Mate Susan saw your post in the WOR group, wanted you to know that you indeed heard us, and thought she'd send you another unsolicited eQSL. In our older programs -- produced months ago -- we didn't announce song titles. You can identify a recently produced one because we do that. We're not going back and editing those old programs to include the information because we're spending our time producing new content. Airing March 7, 2021 (WRMI), March 20, 2021 (Channel 292), March 28, 2021 (WBCQ) Runtime = 59:39. Tune in to WRMI on the 14th -- same time and frequency -- for a special program featuring a new German C&W artist with Austin roots. Her name is DanaMaria and she sings some great songs. Information's on our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw 73 and Arrgghh. Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate. Texas Radio Shortwave Sailing into your ears from the Lone Star State`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. NEWS NATION on WGN America has undergone a revamp. It started a few months ago as 3 hours of straight news, 7 nights a week, at 01-04 UT, and then played back at 04-07. We welcomed it since CNN and MSNBC are mostly opinion even tho we agree with most of it. CNN Headline News long ago was a lost cause, anything but, rather tabloid stuff too tacky for CNN itself. Altho HQ in Chicago, WGN is supposedly drawing on the newsrooms and talent of dozens of NexStar stations around the country --- including KFOR in OKC, which is obliged to promote NN to the detriment of its own primetime; but have never seen any news from KFOR on the network; and seldom if ever any individual station input identified by name. Tho I have hardly watched it religiously and completely. Anyhow, now they`ve added an hour-interview show instead of 3 hours of different news --- a lot easier and less expensive to produce and fill time, Banfield --- on March 7 guest Bryan Cranston; and another different hour, The Donlon Report --- not sure what that`s about. News blox reduced to two hours. Total span expanded, and weekends now differ: All times UT, for standard time; no doubt to shift one UT hour earlier next week from March 14 for DST in order to pretend to be at the same local time --- except in AZ and HI, tough luck. M-F 2300-0800 UT Tue-Sat NEWS NATION EARLY EDITION/PRIME except: BANFIELD 03-04 & 07-08; DONLON 00-01 & 04-05 UT Sun & Mon 0000-0600 NEWS NATION PRIME except: BANFIELD 02-03 & 05-06. Just another cable network which market forces? have forced into something other than its original specialized concept. If successful, however, we anticipate NN expanding into even more of WGN America time replacing tired old binge reruns, infomercials. It would have been nice to tune in cable channel 85 here at any time day or night and expect hard rolling news coverage. O, here`s how their website describes the new shows: ``At 10pm ET, you're looking to exhale. Ashleigh provides that respite while still informing and entertaining. Watch big-name A-list celebrities, newsmakers and public figures for a unique opportunity to talk for an hour. No debates. No shouting over each other. A conversation. ``Joe Donlon taps into a common sense point of view when it comes to the most pressing and interesting issues and stories of the day... something that seems to have been lost in the reach for right vs. left on our competitors.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 7500-AM, March 7 at 1800 tune-in, Spanish ID by YL for 93.7 FM, lively tropical music. At 1809 promo for ``Radio Venezuela 93.7 FM, así suena``, and more like it frequently. automated at every break between tunes. After 1830 starts to sound distorted. still going OK at 1937. 93.7 in El Tigre was ROCV`s original program source when it appeared early October on 6906. 7500 is not USB or LSB, but AM, S4-S5 into Bonaire SDR at midday, carrier offset varying slightly +7/10 Hz. Tnx to March 7 WOR iog tip via ``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, VENEZUELA, 7500 kHz, R. O. C. V., El Tigre, according with a whatsapp from the station R. O. C. V. is testing now, 1450 UTC on this frequency. Weak signal, fair carrier via remote receiver in Bonaire``. It had last been on 6200, but off air for several weeks. We are still awaiting any sign of legality, licensing for this on SW, such as a YV- callsign. OTOH it seems that callsigns are not applied to 93.7; their disgraced FB includes a Feb 18 notice about off air due to electricity problems, and lots of grafix: https://www.facebook.com/104634747994178/photos/a.134911588299827/243374430786875/?type=3&theater Same on Dec 25 and Oct 24! Is there anything there about a SW relay? Not that I have found. Another with a girl finger-framing a heart over her left breast. BTW, the Bonaire SDR waterfall shows it suffering from noise peaks about every 65 kHz, e.g. 7475, 7540, fortunately with our 7500 falling between them (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1944 UT March 7

Sunday, March 07 2021
** ALGERIA [non]. 6105, March 6 at 0523, Qur`an S9-S7 with flutter, RTA relay via FRANCE this hour; aside 6100 Cuba, not quite strong enough to be a problem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ALGERIA [non]. 7315, March 6 at 1920 & 1935 chex, Qur`an from RTA via FRANCE, poor with ACI at UTwente. Supposedly // 7375 where nothing but ROMANIA`s two-hour transmission can be heard. Checking in case RTA carry English segment from the International network as it was doing last summer during DST season a UT hour earlier on the then frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, March 6 at 0522, RHC S9+20 in Spanish instead of English after 0500, starting deportivo segment during `24 horas en el mundo` newscast, and // 6060; while English is on 6000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ECUADOR. 6050, UT Sat March 6 at 0526 tune-in, surprised to hear ID in English for R. Slovakia International. O, it`s just an illustration within the HCJB German DX program during extended weekend transmission; followed by brief talk in German, a song, and off at 0530* sharp without further announcement. S7-S9 for only 1 kW. [non]. European POV background from March BDXC-UK Communication: ``HCJB Deutschland’s German DX programme, ‘Medienmagazin’, is scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays at 0530, 1030, 1505, 1800 and 2205 UT. Frequencies include 3995 kHz from Weenermoor in north west Germany near the Dutch border. But the programme is actually produced in Scotland by Horst Wiese who has lived near Edinburgh for many years. The HCJB “DX-Programm” has been recorded for the past couple of years at the studios of Revival FM in Cumbernauld. Past editions are online at: https://hcjb-medienmagazin.blogspot.com/ (HCJB Infobrief 4/2020)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 11625-11630-11635 DRM, March 6 at 1737, RFI French via TDF Issoudun confirmed, lo-fi only 8.08 kbps but solid no dropouts at S9/+10, via Kuwait Kiwi SDR, picked since target is S Asia. Labeled ``AAC(1000) TDF EXP Data 8.08 kbps`` and ``Medium range use, multipath resistant``. I`ve been intending to check the scheduled 2330-2400 on 9880-9885-9890, ex-5870-5875-5880, where I was hearing it in February. 9880-9885-9890-DRM, so I do, March 6 at 2330: Rochester NY Kiwi SDR, no DRM detected; UTwente can hear DRM noise in AM mode but too weak; Bonaire decodes intermittently at SNR +/- 14 kHz, S9-S8; displays same parameters as 11630 above (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SWEDEN [and non]. 6200, March 7 at 0002, JBA carrier to Bonaire SDR, surely not ROCV Venezuela; Radio Nord Revival, Sala, Sweden is supposed to start a 47/48 hour special anniversary show now with 10 kW on A3H = reduced carrier USB. 0010 I try UTwente which is slightly better, trace of music? but can`t find it USB only. Probably Tibet which is on 6200 about 21 hours a day. Nord alternative frequencies publicized are inadvisable now either: 6035 next to huge Spanish 6040; 6130 also probably weak Tibet. Why were they given Tibet-clashing channels? To be in Swedish except a couple spans partly in English as I point out on WORLD OF RADIO 2076: Sunday at 05-07 and 11-12; Monday at 20-21 UT. See: http://radionordrevival.blogspot.com/ for full schedule, QSL info (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 417-MCW kHz, March 6 at 0746, as I am almost asleep, I keep copying NDB ID as ../.-.- which is I/Ya the Cyrillic letter. But it must really be the usual occupant of 417, IY, ../-.-- Charles City, Iowa which I have not noted miskeying before. I was uncertain whether the final tone was long or short, i.e. -.-. which would have been C, but there is no IC around here either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2076 monitoring: zzz thru the 1300 UT Saturday March 6 airing on WRMI 15770; did anyone hear it? Confirmed starting at 2043 Sat Mar 6 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM MO, via nearby KB0FX remote. With some glitches not on my original recording, not clear whether from playback or remote. There were nonesuch on preceding ham show. Also confirmed Sat Mar 6 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, poor on PL-880 with reelout clipon. Also confirmed Sat Mar 6 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, immediately after Tirana music, no ID; poor S9-S5 direct but at 2325 check via Maine SDR, S9/+10; Rochester S9-S8 but both with glitches/skips/clix every few seconds. This seems to be a defect on Kiwis when run in the SAM/SAL/SAU/SAS modes. Next: 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1901 UT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a MO to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. The same address for a check in US funds on a US bank One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily US funds (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, March 6 at 1549, WRMI-3 is very much back with bigsig BS after missing most of yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, March 7 at 0200, WRMI with Texas Radio Shortwave, first biminute of `YROT` theme, openings by synthetic voices, Third Mate Susan, and Cap`n Ric with eQSL offers for this show of lady performers only. I hear it direct on the portable ATS-909 anext the computer, but prefer to listen via the Kansas City Kiwi where it`s VG S9+10. Never are the ladies nor their songs identified, just one after another with occasional ID/QSL breaks by Susan, such as at 0215, 0231 Cap`n Ric on the poop-deck, 0234, and 0257 outro, YROT theme. Instead the ladylist if not the playlist has been posted, and forwarded by another Texan, Terry Colgan: ``ARTIST LINEUP FOR LADIES OF TEXAS MUSIC TRIBUTE ON WRMI TONIGHT Cap'n Ric is pleased to announce the artists featured in the upcoming Ladies of Texas Music Tribute: Jeanie C. Riley Jamie Lin Wilson Sunny Sweeney Lisa Loeb Norah Jones Lydia Mendoza Marcia Ball Lucinda Williams St. Vincent Barbara Lynn "Sippie” Wallace “Big Mama” Thornton Bessie Tucker Janis Joplin Lacey Sturm. Cap'n wagers you haven't heard of many of these female artists, and also wagers that you'll enjoy their music. The tribute program will air several times: March 7 - 0200 UTC 5950 kHz via WRMI March 20 - 0900 UTC 6070 kHz and 1800 UTC 3955 kHz via Channel 292 in Germany March 28 - 0200 UTC 6160 kHz via WBCQ. Third Mate Susan designed a special limited edition eQSL to be sent to listeners who submit correct reception reports to texasradiosw@gmail.com. (From TRSW's Facebook page)`` One song in Spanish caught my ear at 0219 with a possible title, ``Canta, Guitarra Mia``. Probably Lydia Mendoza, one third into the list (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Mar 7 at 0125, `Theater Organ Under The Arch` is underway on WTWW-2, but only a quick check as I listen to only one music show at a time, `Encore` classical on WRMI 5850 this hour, having missed the first airing at 23-24 on 7570 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Am glad to see that ondemand access to the superb CBS Sunday Morning has been restored to proper funxion: On March 6 I check the current/most recent one of Feb 28: https://www.cbsnews.com/sunday-morning/ A single full file plays straight thru with all commercials removed, totaling just over 62 minutes. One may also play individual segments linked just below if desired. I haven`t tried to retrieve older episodes, whether the same options apply (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1540.21, March 6 circa 0730 UT, trace of a carrier here but not outstanding like last two nights; confusing to the ear as there are more carriers off 1540.000 including one circa 1540.02 and the usual 1539.96 = KGBC. See my previous report about KGBC and KEDA as well as the mystery, which has been discussed further in the ABDX group: Heterodyne on 1540 ``I don't think the original reporter mentioned if the het was on the low or high side. Do you hear the gospel station on 1540.21 kHz? It is sometimes audible here: http://kiwisdr.ku4by.com:8073/?f=1540.21usbz10 Thank you and best regards, Mauno`` Ritola, Finland Where is that? Is labeled: ``© bluebison.net KU4BY's SolarSDR Elizabeth City, NC | Grid: FM16vf, ASL: 30m, [map] Antenna: Wilson 1K about 15' AGL. Powered by the Carolina Sun!`` I try it near local noon at 1631 March 6: displays 1540 carrier + 50v Hz but nothing audible. There are far too many GOS stations on 1540 circa NC (gh) ``Mar 6 at 6:39 AM --- The station furthest off frequency is on 1539.904 (NNE/SSW) with others appearing on 1539.9732 (N/S), 1539.9755 (WSW – signed off @ 2345 ET), 1539.9835 (NW - CHIN) and 1540.022 (W). Strongest station is on 1539.998 to the WNW (KXEL). 1539.998 tops the channel when KXEL is nulled. That one is Bahamas. The het is definitely the 1539.905 but taking Glenn’s note into account it is probably some station in the Eastern South who didn’t throw the switch. Rick S., Rodanthe NC OBX FM25go`` IRCA March 5: ``Walter Salmaniw 4:44am #18219 --- Again I can hear the het quite well in Victoria and see a relatively strong carrier on 1540.203 tonight, as well as others quite a ways off channel on 1540.023 and 1539.908. As on 1350, there are a LOT of carriers spaced closer to the nominal. The 1540.2 channel is near audio into Victoria. 73, Walt`` That`s really far. In western USA the only 1540s are the big one in LA CA, 50 kW KMPC in Korean, also ethnic KXPA 5 kW Bellvue WA near Walt, and KASA Phoenix AZ, 19 watts of ranchera at night. March 6 at 2329 on ABDX, Rich: ``I have it on 1540.205 but can’t make it out. Seems to be WSW. But here’s what’s weird. I have similar signals that pulsate up and down along with the .205 on 1540.113 and 1540.021 – in each case 92 Hz down. Rick S., Rodanthe NC OBX FM25go`` Rick`s WSW bearing from OBX correlates with my ESE from Enid for best bets: WTBI near Greenville SC and WKVQ Eatonton, central Georgia. Both 10 kW daytimers. FCC official March LSS for both 2345 UT. Has there been any change now? Anyone near-local to those locations to check? Perhaps Bob in Bamberg SC original reporter can tell if it`s NW from Greenville or West from Eatonton. 73, (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0356 UT March 7

They are back in Maine where it`s 9 degrees, a good drive until the last few miles into a zero-visibility blizzard. Quite an adjustment as it had been 80+ in Florida. A visit for maintenance and checking things, so apparently going back south soon. Last/this week there was a wind storm; when it`s 20, 30 or 40 mph [? not much for an OKie], the Ampegon rotatable antenna has to be parked and closed down. Tho it`s anything but solid, all its metal wires, parts add up to a wind load. I wonder if parking position depend on which way the wind be blowing. If it happen to be minimal at the current azimuth, could it remain on? 0116 open for e-mail. 0118 ranting starts about moonbats never stopping masking to control us; calling President Biden a cadaver. The pre-amp for Allan's mic has been damaged by lightning so they're using one mic. Allan talks about the storms in Maine this week, both snow and wind. Said the wind kept the rotatable antenna on the superstation from turning properly so they shut the transmitter down till the wind stopped. Allan says they're just in Maine for a visit and was complaining about the extra clothes and the colder temps in Maine this week. Said it was 22 today . Quickly turned political and they talked of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head again, the Land of Lakes Indian, the Coca Cola polar bear etc. Masks, the election, voting, the virus, China, our beloved Trump, the fact that he won the election, any praise for the response to the virus or the appearance of the virus is because of Trump etc. Angela ended it by saying that was her Angela's Angle for this week. Allan mentioned another problem with something that burned up on one of the transmitters but I didn't catch what it was. He also said it was time to talk about radio and Angela started in with another political rant. Allan finally started reading an article about the current status of radio and the effect of the pandemic on ad revenue. Signal on 7490 went to hell about 0130. Reading of emails at 0154. The same address for a check in US funds on a US bank One may also contribute via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily US funds. First broadcasts confirmed UT Friday March 5 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5850 VG direct; 7780 VG S9+15 like a local to Maine SDR, but no signal to UTwente where it`s aimed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7570 & > 7730, March 5 at 0315, both S9+30 of dead air as Brother Scare`s feed to WRMI has failed. Also dead on weaker 7780; and 5850 S9+20/30. Other programming remains modulating on 5950, 5800, JBA 4980, 9395, 9455, but 9955 is occupied only by pulse jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5890, March 4 at 0647, S9/+10 of dead air from WWCR-4 instead of Brother HyStairical. Or is there a trace of JB modulation? This has happened before especially on UT Thursdays -- mixup in automation scheduling? TOMBS is still nominal on squealy 3215 WWCR-1, and on 5850 WRMI. However, by 0800, Ivo Ivanov reported no signal at all on 5890, back by 0930. Later in the day more problems were reported with WRMI transmitters, must be having issues (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5890, March 5 at 0305, WWCR-4 with big buzz on the Fulcher hour audio, peaking plus/minus 4-5 kHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1540, March 4 at 0402 UT, Bob Smoak asked on the ABDX group, ``I'm getting a low pitched heterodyne on 1540 in Bamberg, SC. Any ideas where it might be coming from?`` My first response was KGBC Galveston TX on 1539.96 as I`ve heard repeatedly. His receiver could not tell whether it was plus or minus. When I tuned in myself at 0707-0715 UT, I found a carrier on 1540.210, and so had Mauno Ritola via a remote. Could not hear any modulation on it and hard to DF, but not KGBC which was weaker on the minus side. At 0726, KGBC had gospel-huxtering in Spanish and there`s a third station with Mexican music, presumed KEDA San Antonio. I`m on it again the next night from 0322 UT March 5: 1540.21 carrier is there again and now I can DF it to WNW/ESE. Possibilities are daytimers or peanut-powers at night, starting with 10 kW WTBI near Bob in Pickens SC; KDYN Ozark AR; WKVQ Eatonton GA; WKXG Greenwood MS. No others really fit the DF axis somewhat south of due east, and nothing at all somewhat north of due west. When it`s nulled, Mexmx is dominant, presumed KEDA with live DJ and frequent CST timechex, but I can`t catch any IDs or local references. Also at times looping further CCW, KGBC gospanish, at 0330 plugging a phone in the 254 area code which is around Waco, not Houston. KXEL Waterloo IA 50 kW not really a factor until a bit of English talk at 0346; northerly propagation diminished. May be cause of SAH about 5 Hz vs KEDA? Finally at 0401 amid the Spanish, a canned English ID for ``99.9 FM serving San Antonio, Texas``. So Wayne won`t have to remind me, that`s K260CC, as on page 299 of the NRC AM Log, part of the Group: Radio Jalapeño. Only a minute later at 0402, live DJ pronounces KEDA in Spanish as well as Radio Jalapeño, and plugs a 55th-annivesary event for the station on March 13-14, with an address, and social-distancing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0533 UT March 5

** CURACAO [and non]. 18133-USB, March 3 at 1908, PJ2/N1ZZ with rapid pro-forma contacts as he says he`s trying to make as many as possible during his stay. Mostly weak US & Canadian, but now one with stronger XE1C, Jean-Paul en Guadalajara. Still going at 1941 check tho he says the band is dropping out. Here, no other phone activity noted except on this frequency. I hope he is OK, since he pronounces / as ``stroke``. I prefer ``slant``, not ``slash`` either as too violent. -..-. Next WOR 2076 should be ready by early UT Fri March 5 for first SW airings at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 & 7780 (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** U S A. Re: ``9330, March 3 at 0112, no signal from WBCQ WLCR; nor on 9333. G1 storm and K index of 5 may have propped it out, but you`d think at least a smidgin of its 500 kW would be detectable; all gobbled up in the ionosphere; or serving International Vacuum (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)`` We had a snow with high winds yesterday in New Brunswick. Lost commercial power for six hours at my house. Eastern Maine may have had issues, too. (— Richard Langley, later March 3, WOR iog) Earlier, Feb 28, Richard posted this: ``[WOR] WBCQ Power Supply? Blame Canada --- The northeastern part of Maine gets a lot of their electricity from Canada -- New Brunswick to be exact. Maine's electricity network north of Houlton is not connected to the rest of the network in Maine. Yes, there are a couple of small power stations in the region on the Maine side of the border but a lot of power is imported. This was one of the many dependencies of the U.S. on Canada that had to be made clear to the Trump administration when they were attempting to "punish" Canada with duties on alumin[i]um, etc. I hope Angela and Allan Weiner realize that whenever they criticize Canukistan. -- Richard Langley`` Ironically, Angela herself is also Newbrunswickianne. Still/again, March 3 at 1933 & 2010 chex, zero signal on 9330/9333 altho WBCQ-6 is always weak at this time, in German to Europe. It`s not an electricity issue now, as at 1936, WBCQ-1 is JBA with BS on signature off-frequency 7490.192V. Richard Langley, too: ``9330 kHz is still off as far as I can tell (checked at 2000 UT today, 3 March) using my own receiver and the U. Twente SDR receiver. -- Richard Langley`` WOR iog. ``They had a wind storm with very cold temperatures for a few days. Winds over 50 MPH and wind chills around -40 degrees F. Peter W Hansen`` -- WOR iog. The WBCQ-6 White Elephant ``Super-Station`` keeps breaking down for some reason or another. Perhaps AW will mention it on next WW. Once again there`s a hiatus in his twitting, not since Feb 20, altho almost all of those were generic ``free speech`` promotions (Glenn Hauser, OK, March 3, WOR) ** U S A. Hey Glenn: 1630 KKGM TX, does play UC (music) as a break between news segments - the station is very strong in Austin. Receiving Equipment: Drake R8B, Terminated Delta Antenna (17ft apex and 28ft base), northeast, Mini-Flag Antenna (7ft by 15ft), southeast. 73, (Mike Beu, KD5DSQ, Austin, Texas, WOR iog) This report despatched at 2322 UT March 3
