Sunday, November 13 2022
** CANADA. 2598 USB, Nov 13 at 0745 UT, synthYL with marine weather, S5/S3. Sounds like same on 2749 USB, but both too weak to try to // as synchro on second receiver. Per dxinfocentre.com/mb.htm, starting at 0737 on 2598 is VCP-4, Placentia NL, 3000 watts; and from 0740 on 2749, VCO Sydney NS, 550 watts, both as first broadcasts of a new morning, at 4:07 am in NL, 3:40 am in NS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 10080, Nov 13 at 0756, RHC is here! S4/S8 in Spanish; in a routine check for possible harmonic of Vanuatu 5040, which is still a JBA carrier, surely not Cuba there. The sloppyrators at Bauta must have accidentally tuned up the 5040 transmitter to its second harmonic! With all others off by 0759, will Esperanto show here at 0800? NO, RHC news sounder and news in Spanish past 0805 when I zonk. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6165, UT Sun Nov 13 at 0751, RHC English is still on in jazz show featuring a familiar Brazilian YL singer, S7/S9 but undermodulated; and also on 6060, S8/S9 with better mod and some hum. So all set for weekly Sunday Esperanto at 0800? NO, both are off by 0759, while 10080 continues in Spanish. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, Sunday Nov 13 at 1600 RHC Spanish ID, theme, to continue on 15140 & 11760 & FM only; 1601 opening weekly Esperanto, with schedule still claimed to be Sun 0800 on 6100, 1600 on 11760 only, and 2330 on 15730. Has RHC put up a B-22 sked by now? Of course not! Now TWO YEARS OLD, B-20 skeds, in Spanish: https://www.radiohc.cu/de-interes/frecuencias HORARIOS, BANDAS Y FRECUENCIAS EN ESPAÑOL PERIODO NOVIEMBRE 2020/MARZO 2021 CAMBIO DE HORARIO Y FRECUENCIA 17 DE NOVIEMBRE And note the late effective date, so when in 2022? Likewise the English sked: https://www.radiohc.cu/en/de-interes/frecuencias And Esperanto: https://www.radiohc.cu/eo/de-interes/frecuencias Something`s always wrong at RHC. Also, listening to first few minutes, I catch them in Spanish-influenced stressmistakes: ``Amériko`` and ``polítiko`` instead of Ameríko and politíko`` -- and this will be nonsense if an editor strip my accents off these; for clarity as in Esp`o, everything is penultimate with no acutes required (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13567, 13633, 13767, 13834 approx., Nov 13 at 1517, RHC spurblobs out of 13700 transmitter which is only S2/S4 itself. The difficult to pinpoint broadband blobs suffer from extremely distorted modulation, F#? tone. Same thing was happening last night out of q.v. 13740, no doubt same defective Bauta transmitter. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ETHIOPIA [non]. 15160, Nov 13 at 1523, good signal in unknown language. EiBi shows at 1500-1600 it`s Dimtse Woyane in TIG = Tigrinya via Issoudun, FRANCE; subject to Ethiopian DRMish noise jamming, but none audible here now. From http://www.eibispace.de/dx/README.TXT info about lang. abbrs. confusingly in two different systems: TIG Tigrinya/Tigray: Ethiopia (4m), Eritrea (3m) [tir] TGR Tigre/Tigré/Tigrawit: Eritrea (1m) [tig] On the right in [brackets] the ISO 639-3 (SIL) language code for reference. For more information on language [abc] visit https://iso639-3.sil.org/code/abc I wonder how different be TIG and TGR. SIL = Summer Institute of Linguistix, gospel huxters but with remarkable language work (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM. New WORLD OF RADIO schedule on WRN: See USA [and non] ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Nov 13 at 0736, no signal from R. Kiribati, presumably another silent Sunday night. No other 9/kHz split carriers audible either, TP or TA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 15605, Nov 13 at 1522, S6/S9 in unknown language. EiBi shows at 1500-1530 it`s AWR in MZ to NIn = MZ Mizo / Lushai: India-Mizoram (0.7m) [lus], and nothing else anywhen on 15605 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850, UT Sun Nov 13 at 0156, tune in this WRMI for `Encore` at 0200 but classical music is already playing: I had forgotten that the 01-02 schedule would stick rather than shift an hour later on this System -- presumably it`s `Encore` as what else would be classical on WRMI! There is no spoken outro as Brice Avery always closes out before playing the last piece. Then to my surprise, after ID, `Encore` starts -- again, at 0200 instead of scheduled `Teachers Corner` -- mistake or deliberate? Anyhow, I can hear the whole hour now and it matches the Nov 12 Playlist. What will happen next week? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Nov 13 at 0750, JBA carrier presumed SIBC, even weaker than 5040 Vanuatu; in the convenient absence of both Cubans from 5025 & 5040 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WRN provides the correct new times for WORLD OF RADIO via satellite and streaming. AAP = Africa/Asia/Pacific. The 0230 UT Sunday time I have also confirmed. These have already been integrated into: http://worldofradio.com/radioskd.html http://worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html ``Below are the scheduled slots of WOR on our WRN networks for the current B22 season (times in UTC): WRN AAP & NAM: 02:30 - 02:59 (Sunday and Monday) 11:30 - 11:59 (Sunday) 17:00 - 17:29 (Saturday) 20:30 - 20:59 (Saturday) WRN Europe: 13:30 - 13:59 (Daily) 17:00 - 17:29 (Saturday) 21:00 - 21:29 (Saturday and Sunday)`` WORLD OF RADIO 2164 monitoring: NOT confirmed UT Sunday November 13 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, because it`s OFF the air as checked into MD, MO and TX remotes. Cuts on the air at *0055 for last 4 minutes! Also confirmed UT Sunday November 13 at 0443 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+20 into nearby SDR, about 10 minutes into so started circa 0433. Next: 2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 5950 to NNW 0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba] 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html A noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated. Thanks this week for a contribution from Henry Blackwood via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com --- ``Keeping WOR on shortwave!`` One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 5040, Nov 13 at 0638, JBA carrier here and not 7260, so must be R. Vanuatu, in absence of CUBA [q.v. which IS on 10080!]. At 0733 slightly stronger JBAC on 5040 and no signals on 7890 or 11835, so unusually this time must not have switched to 3945++ at 0700. By 0750, trace of modulation on 5040, not just carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1933 UT November 13 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Nov 12 at 1456 nothing yet into Argentine SDR from LRA36, but it cuts on at 1458.6 midsong at S5/S7 -- but cuts off the air already at 1505.4 before anything be spoken. Usually it never comes back, so after 1508, I suspend, as anyway it`s breakfast time. However, 1526 recheck it`s back on talking about a fiesta `tomorrow`; 1530 about folklore and 1536 el costumbre argentino de fútbol; same stuff heard on Wed Nov 9; 1553 ``nos une`` ID; 1556 about Córdoba province; 1600 music; 1603 ID with ``Nacional, la radio pública``; 1617 again about the fiesta, will report about it next week; 1618 song; 1622 ID with staff names, which funxions as s/on/off without any explicity, a bit more music to 1623* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. 5938.313, Nov 12 at 0726, Brazuguese, R. Voz Missionária facilitated by a weakened 5935 WWCR as ``skip is long``. So I measure their other frequency too and find it unstable, varying audibly circa 9664.03, S7/S9 just as at 0731 ID for ``5940`` with its power. 9664.10, Nov 12 at 2246, RVM in Portuguese at S9+20 with het (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 28447 USB, Nov 12 at 2227, PP5BT calling CQDX; QRZ.com: PP5BT Brazil flag Brazil Rodrigo Gonçalves, Rua Alfonso Nicolao Bornhofen, 163, Blumenau, SC 89032452, Brazil -- among several DX phone sigs on 10m, but no beacons (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 9900, Nov 12 at 2247, double Chinese echo, S9+15 = CNR1 jammers against RTI. No sign of Cairo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11880, Nov 12 at 2230, no signal from RHC where English used to be, nor found anywhere else in scans of all bands. 11850, Nov 12 at 2242, S7/S9 of dead air except for some hum, maybe trace of modulation, usual for this RHC Spanish frequency. 13608 approx., Nov 12 at 2235, extremely distorted RHC Spanish wideband spurblob, FMish with F# tone. Then I look for others: 13673, S9+12; 13808-13811, 13887 weak. Source has to be only active AM transmitter on band, 13740, which is clear at S9+20. Displacement range is 67-73 kHz and multiples. Somethings` always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA SOUTH [non]. 9870, Nov 12 at 0735 expressive M&M conversation in Korean, so informal it could not possibly be from the North: yes, it`s KBSWR at 07-08 via Woofferton UK. Caught one English word go by, ``invisible`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALDIVES [non]. This explains my hearing Chinese on 11620 a while ago at 1500+ -- mixed up with their simulservice on 7630, likely same secret site. Nothing is listed anywhere near 7630. ``TVOM Voice of the Martyrs - Chinese program (site?), on 7630, on Nov 11; 1452 UT - Open carrier; 1459 - Music, followed by ID "Nǐ xiànzài shōutīng xùndào zhě zhī shēng diàntái, TVOM xùndào diàntái zhōngwén jiémù" (Google translation - "You are now listening to the Voice of the Martyrs Radio, TVOM Martyr Radio's Chinese program"); thanks very much to Amano for providing the ID and also thanks to Hiroyuki Komatsubara and Mauno Ritola, who both worked to ID this station. TVOM Voice of the Martyrs - Chinese program: *1500-1530* 7630 kHz --- *2100-2130* 7630 kHz Ron Howard, California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 13755, Nov 12 at 0738, RNZP S8/S9 with music in `Saturday Night` show, much better than last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.935, Nov 12 at 0634, VON S9/+10 direct but JBM, first time heard for quite a while; tnx to Manuel Méndez report that it was on today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6950 USB, Nov 12 at 2232, S8/S9 pirate rocker vs noise level of S7/S8. Multiple reports here of R Free Whatever: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,105260.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6935 USB, Nov 12 at 2233, pirate rocker at S7/S8: Mushroom Head Radio (Zeke) per many reports here: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,105261.0.html 2251 recheck, DJ is yelling (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Re KWTV blocked on Optimum cable: ``Glenn, the "floating rectangle" on color bars question has previously come up. It is there to provide motion to the test pattern, assuring that the (digital) video is not frozen. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 27184.63 AM, Nov 12 at 2224, local S9+34 carrier, Enid CB pirate with JBM relay of 97.7 `The Hawk` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2164 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday November 12 at 0130 on WRMIs: into KFS SE antenna SDR in California, 5850 VG S9+15/30, and 15770, S9+5/25. Also confirmed UT Saturday November 12 at 0500 ex-0400 on WBCQ Radio Angela, S9/+10 into Maryland SDR. Also confirmed Saturday November 12 at 1700 on WRN N America webcast. Also confirmed Saturday November 12 until 2103.5 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, so started circa 2034, S9+20 into nearby SDR. Also confirmed Saturday November 12 at 2100 on WRN stream for Europe, but *not* to N America, rather KBS World Radio, which on the A22 schedule still displayed, was at 2200 UT. I have enquired about this contradictory info. This also calls into question what happen 24 hours later on Sunday; and for the other listed airing which was at 1230 UT Sunday; now 1330, or what? (7490v), UT Sat Nov 12 after 0100, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW`, elexion discussion, so not a repeat, politix I can forego, so recheck at 0142 datestamp as 11 of Nov, YOOLF 2022, trimulcasting on 7490, 6160 and 5130; 0147 some items from Free Radio Weekly which he and I have just received from this week`s editor, Larry Will. 0148 he mentions me who ``doesn`t have a life`` -- or was it, wife?? in response to my numerous non-logs of SuperStition 9330 -- problem seems to be computer control which could not bring up the high voltage. Rails against c.c. of transmitters rather than traditional analog electro/mechanical operation. Unfortunately, AW has moved his show one hour later so it conflicts with WOR already at 0130 on WRMI 5850 & 15770 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12160, Sat Nov 12 at 1800, WWCR with `Talking [sic] Machine Show`, mostly ancient cylinder-recorded music. One episode starts, then cut to a different episode restart. New sked dated Nov 6 still shows this the only airtime on the 4 transmitters available 24/7. Surely could be fit in as filler elsewhen. One of few shows ever worth hearing on WWCR, and certainly the only one of their own produxions. Ex-1700 during DST season (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260 & 5040, Sat Nov 12 at 0638, no signal from RV on either likely fundamental. At 0737, no signals either on harmonix 7890 & 11835. Gary Pence agrees, nothing at 0752 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5814 USB, Nov 12 at 0724, JBA 2-way not Spanish, maybe Portuguese or Italian (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0026 UT November 13 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** CANADA. 2749-USB, Nov 11 at 0725 UT, two different stations, same YL robovoice with marine weather in English, QRMing each other at same level; sometimes a few seconds apart, othertimes not matching. My first log of the season of Coast Guard broadcasts. Checking https://www.dxinfocentre.com/mb.htm this frequency applies only to Metarea 4, but nothing scheduled at this hour, the closest being VCO Sydney NS, 550 watts from 0740z in EE/FF. They do switch to French with a ``securité`` advisory, so maybe a special transmission; and then both are gone at 0727*. The other stations on frequency which are supposed to alternate at numerous times rather than clashing! are VAR-9 at Yarmouth(Halifax), VCN at Escoumins, and VCS-21 Halifax. This info may be outdated as top of page is dated 2020-05-13. Nothing on the NL-area channel now, 2598-USB. Hepburn replies ``Most likely a warning broadcast on receipt. William`` --- so I guess with such urgency they don`t care whether they QRM each other or not --- but rather self-defeating. I hope everyone survived (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 9330, Fri Nov 11 at 0716, dead air soon occupied by Spy Numbers, so WBCQ/WLCR is off again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6060, Nov 11 at 0720, S7/S9 open carrier with hum, must be lingering RHC, and on no other frequency. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY [non]. 7295, Fri Nov 11 at 1817, IRRS via Bulgaria with `Radio Curious` interview about ``tapping my own phone``, in the spot where WOR used to be; as heard via UTwente. Rather than fragment, occupies full semihour until 1846 PSAs for SmokeyBear and COVIDmasks, 1847 Willie Nelson, ``I`ll Fly Away`` and more music. Here it is: http://www.radiocurious.org/2022/11/04/ron-whitehead-sarah-elizabeth-beat-poets-of-kentucky-2 1854 birdcalls open `TUC Radio` which is bound to be chopped off shortly, at 1857* but carrier and loudulation from CGTN Radio start on 7295 already at *1856; 1858 with US stock market info! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALI. 15125, Nov 11 at 1616, S9/S8 with romantic song or hymn? but in Chinese. By 1620 YL in Arabic. This is CRI Arabic via Bamako at 16-17, 100 kW at 85 degrees, to be followed at 17-18 by Swahili at 111 degrees. Yet it`s the SSOB comparable only to 15140 Cuba less modulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 13755, November 11 at 0713, JBA carrier no doubt the new frequency of RNZP, ex-13730 which had interference problems, as frequency manager Adrian Sainsbury had notified us a few hours before. Unfortunately conditions are very bad tonight with nothing else on 13 MHz band, making this the OSOB and SSOB! I was hoping he could justify going down to 11 MHz band which would be better for the extra N American audience beyond. Website sked now: 06:59-12:58 13755 AM from 11 Nov Pacific Mon - Sun 08:59-12:58 13755 AM from 11 Nov NW Pacific Vanuatu Solomon Isl PNG Mon - Fri Thus on Mon-Fri only the last four hours are on a dual/split antenna, both NNE and NW, so the signal may be weaker thisaway? HFCC azimuths are 35 and 325 degrees. 13755 no doubt chosen as an open frequency, however with considerable Asian adjacencies on 13750 & 13760 tho not audible here, yet, anyway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 25, KWTV-DT ``9``, CBS from OKC, UT Friday November 11 from 0430 UT is just fine direct to my antenna, fortunately, since ``Optimum`` ex-Suddenlink cable has replaced it with tone and color bars, the 3/4 variety, with a floating white rectangle in the center! Thus subscribers without antennas are deprived of Colbert, `Late Show`, then the `Late2` show and beyond, still not restored by 0700 when we quit; but back the next morning. No other OKC channels appeared to be blocked on cable. What could explain this? And the floating rectangle? And how could one calculate the value of such an outage to claim a rebate? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, Fri Nov 11 at 2315, token English from REE is interviewing someone who is campaigning to Free the Dolphins from captivity in aquaria and zoos - no excuse, they are not endangered and such intelligent beings should not be encarcerated. At the end her name sounds like Olivia Malo? or Mandel? I`m listening off the back of the ME beam which is reaching Maryland SDR just fine. So is the NAm frequency 9690 but there is heavy clicking QRM over it, like OTH radar: see UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 11 at 2330, VOT in `Feeling Supreme` with some kind of advice; 2339 `Did You Know That`, something about Atatürk. VG modulation this time and S9+30/40 into UTwente, but with some CCI from understation, PBS Xinjiang, East Turkistan, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems. 2352 sign-off now has the UTimes correctly. 2354 fragment of IS, and off* uncovering XJPBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2164 monitoring: confirmed first broadcast, UT Friday November 11 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9 but JBA in high local noise level. I hope the signal be usable somewhere, presumably on antenna aimed SW from FL, like Central America where there are no SDRs to check it. Also, as always on this System, starting exactly the same time as WOR playback is a loud noise burst atop for about 15 seconds, obviously a defect at WRMI. Also confirmed Friday November 11 at 1530 ex-1430 on WRMI 9955, S9/S5 and no jamming audible; off the air after 1600. Also confirmed Friday November 11 at 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+10/15 into nearby Noale SDR with little QRM except for a fast SAH. Preceding show was `Shortwave Report` from California, but chopped off before final item could complete, IRRS ID and WOR. Then after 1630 I try to decode it via Kansas City SDR, but not enough signal to hear. Does display: ``1AAC (1001)) WINB EE? audio 8.28 kbps`` This flip was originally reported Oct 26: ``There are two separate elements when tuning through the digital WINB signal: The DRM "roar" as well as a "buzzwhine" that is presumably the trading data. For quite some time the DRM was on the low frequency side of the signal, but on recent checks it is now on the high side, as the two datastreams have swapped places. Wonder why? Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` To which I replied at that time: ``??? As far as I have noticed the DRM roar has always been on WINB`s high side`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Regarding WTWW and Scriptures for America, I came across this rather negative resumé about SFA and PPPP, altho it does not get into the SW broadcasting angle: https://www.encyclopedia.com/politics/legal-and-political-magazines/scriptures-america Also, characterizing SFA as ``owner`` of WTWW may have been an exaggeration. Wikipedia goes into its history, already in the past tense with latest developments of Nov. 9-10, 2022: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTWW Pertinent excerpts: ``...programming from the Scriptures for America broadcast network, part of a long-term leasing agreement that continued throughout WTWW's existence.[citation needed]`` ``Owner --- Ted Randall and Holly Misslin (Leap of Faith, Inc.)`` However: ``I am President of Leap of faith, Inc. owner. George McClintock, 11-11-2022``, he tells me. WRTH 2022 page 511 lists the ``L.P.: Pres (Leap of Faith, Inc.) George V. McClintock; Engineer: Ted Randall``. So it looks like a long-running 2- or 3-way power struggle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9666-9696, Nov 11 at 2310, loud rapid clicking is QRMing heavily English from REE SPAIN q.v., as received not only by Maryland and Virginia SDRs, but at least as bad at UTwente. So it is certainly external from Spain and the SDRs, Soviet? Er, ``Russian``? The other three REEs are in the clear. 2355 recheck during REE French, the clix have stopped (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0028 UT November 12 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
